Welcome everyone to this limited series podcast devoted to the 155th Bull Family Reunion and Picnic. I’m Julie Boyd Cole, 9th generation in the Line John, William, and Thomas and the caretaker of the Bull Stone House.
On August 6, 2022, we will not only gather for the 155th time but we will celebrate a very special anniversary:
300 years ago, a young couple living in the howling wilderness with a brand new baby boy began to build the Bull Stone House.
Not only did Sarah Wells and William Bull live in their Stone House until they died, but it has been handed down through the centuries and now 10 generations of Bull descendants have called the Stone House home.
We will gather on the lawns of the Bull Stone House this summer, as we have for over 100 years, to once again reconnect as a family and celebrate this incredible legacy and American story.

Today we have the Harlow Clan. First cousins of the 9th Generation in the line of John, William, and Thomas, and Thomas again.
The Harlow Clan has been attending Bull Picnic for 5 generations as a branch of our family tree and they don’t attend to stop.
We have Bull Armstrong who lives in New Jersey. He has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. His sister Betsy MacMinn is also with us today. She lives in NC and has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
We have Peggy Becker who lives in upstate New York with her husband Richard. They have 2 daughters and a grandchild on the way. Peggy is also a former Bull Association Board member, Treasurer, Secretary, and Bull Stone House docent.
And last we have Roberta McFarland from Seattle. She has 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter. She is hoping for the Blue Ribbon for the farthest away this year.
They are all the grandchildren of 7th generation Bull Charles Wellington Harlow and 7th generation Margaret Cocks Harlow, who was instrumental in getting this all started

Today, Brian Gens, a 9th generation Bull in the line of Isaac, joins us on Let’s Talk Bull Picnic. Brian was raised in Fredonia, NY, with many Bull relatives. He moved to Orange County, NY, 30 years ago, but never came to the Bull Family Reunion until 2021. And it made a big impression!
Brian lives in Warwick with his husband Stephen. They plan to attend this summer!

Today on Let’s Talk Bull Picnic, we have Marc Nozell. Marc is a software developer who lives in New Hampshire. He is a husband, the father of six children, and a Bull of the 9th generation in the Line of John.
He currently serves on the Bull family association Board of Directors and leads the tech committee. For the last two years, he has led our virtual family reunion and will do so again this August.

Today, Karen Bush, a 9th generation Bull in the line of John, joins us on Let’s Talk Bull Picnic. Karen lives in Northern Virginia and is a mother of three grown children. She is a seasoned businesswoman, who owns her company: Great Falls Organizers, which she co-founded more than a decade ago.
Karen grew up in New Hampshire with her brother Karl Franck but knew nothing about the Bull Family of Orange County ... until just a few years ago when the beginning of her family history adventure led her to the Bull Family Homestead and picnic.

Today on Let’s Talk Bull Picnic, we have Sarah Brownell. Sarah is retired from her career in retail. A writer and photographer and mother of three grown children. She grew up in Orange County, traveled the country for years, but landed back in the OC in 2004. Sarah is a 9th generation Bull descendant in the line of John, William, and Thomas. She is a former Director of the Board of the Stone House Association, co-chair of the PR and Communications committee, a member of the Bull picnic committee, and the longtime manager of Bull Market.
