When everything around is constantly changing, we can't trust what we see—but we can trust God completely.
No one is beyond God'‘s redemption. But people will only be reached when we actively reach out to them. So who is God calling you to reach?
There is authority in Jesus’ name. There is salvation in Jesus’ name. And there is a boldness in proclaiming Jesus’ name.
We can see God working all around us if we know where to look. How many times do we pass by people who may have deep needs, but we miss God’s invitation to work in their lives.
In a climate of negative views regarding the church, special guest Tom Elliff shares What's Right About the Church.
Discipleship and having a strong foundation is more important now than ever before. We must be on guard.
Jesus is the answer to our brokenness. His life, death, burial, and resurrection make a way for us to be healed from our sin. Think on three things: what has your experience with Jesus been? What have you seen God do in your life? What does the Word say about Him?
Under the sacrificial system, the people were separated from God by a great curtain that only the high priest could enter. Because of the blood of Jesus, the curtain is removed—the very barrier between us and God is taken away. When we read and meditate Him and His promises, we grow closer to Him and become more like Him. No matter who we were, in Jesus our sin removed by the power of His death, burial, and resurrection if we are in Him.
Our first reaction to the unknown is fear., but Jesus says, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” The first thing to remember is that Jesus is here. We don’t have to be afraid. Ask the Lord to capture your gaze. Freeze the moment where your eyes are on HIM.
Sometimes we encounter difficult situations, but for those who are in Christ, we know that all things work according to His purpose. In everything, God works for those who love him. Don’t let the enemy damage your relationship with God. Trust the Lord and let Him restore you to Him.
We grow together in service, faith, and unity as we pursue the Lord. God has placed each and every one of us in this place, at this time, as part of this community.
We celebrate the good but magnify the bad. We forget the Lord’s promises in fear—but the disciples turned to Jesus because they knew that even in the face of fear, Jesus had authority.Whatever the trouble or the fear is, remember that the God of the storm is in the boat with you.
There’s absolutely nothing like being who God made you to be and doing what God has made you to do.
In the midst of all this chaos, to stand firm, stay together, rejoice together, let your gentleness be known, and meditate on the peace of God rather than the bad news all over.
When we cry out to God, He answers. He is our battle cry and our faith in Him is our deliverance.
When our eyes are set on the Lord, we find our strength in Him! Psalm 91 reminds us that He is our shield and our defender.
We are no strangers to brokenness and tragic situations in our world. Sometimes those tragic circumstances lead to more brokenness. Mercifully, God responds to such brokenness not with condemnation, but with kindness that leads to repentance and healing.
Jesus can change any life, break any addiction, and overcome any hardship, and as none of us knows how many days are left to us, no excuses should keep us from cementing our relationship with Christ and our salvation through Him.
God calls on the spiritually strong to gently restore those who have gotten tangled in sin. It's the church's built-in restoration process! God's design is not that believers remain useless and broken, but for brothers and sisters in Christ who are walking by the spirit to correct and encourage those are struggling. When done right, it's a cycle that continues through the ages. Are we walking by the Spirit? Are we living in such a way that we can participate in the restoration process?
Nothing makes a father more proud of his kids than seeing them respond to the Gospel. Paul felt that pride over his spiritual children at the church at Colossae, and our Heavenly Father takes pride in His children who are firmly rooted in the Gospel.
You have something to offer. What happens if you don’t offer it? The goal is that because of your service, people will be redeemed to God. If you’re not at your place in His will, it affects every person that God intended for you to connect with. When you’re not functioning in your purpose and place, people are getting missed. Put away the excuses. Stop being paralyzed and find your purpose and your place.
It can often be hard to hear the call of Jesus. Whether it's pride, shame, fear, or otherwise, we allow obstacles to hinder our response to Him. But it doesn't have to be that way.
The CHBC staff shares their biggest moments from 2019 and their heart and vision for 2020.
If you are a believer, God will never cast you off or turn you away. God sought us out and chose us and we have a purpose through Him.
Each year at CHBC, we adopt a spiritual and a practical focus to work through for the whole year. This year, our spiritual focus is The Word. Everything we do will emphasize the importance and power of Scripture and all that goes with it: study, memorization, and Biblical literacy. Our practical focus for 2020 will be finding your place and using your gifts. We want to help you use your gifts, talents, and abilities to advance the Gospel the way God designed you.
The Old Testament prophecies and the New Testament apostles all agree: Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life.
Jesus worked miracles throughout His ministry, including the miraculous healing of disease. The greatest miracle of all is how he cured the disease below the surface.
Nothing that we can do or have done can separate us from the love of God. No matter what you've done, you matter to God.
Sin can take us farther than we want to go, and keep us longer than we want to stay. Our walk with Christ — Our devotion to prayer and the study of the Word, empower us to wrestle with our sinful nature, and walk more closely with Him. How is your walk?
Sometimes it's hard to remember that pastors are people, too. This week, you can get to know the CHBC pastors a little better.
The strategy of the enemy is to try and make us doubt what we know to be true and stirring up strife. But the mission of God demands unity. The unity of the body is more important than any political affiliation or hot-button issue.
Sometimes we have a blessed assurance—a confidence in the Gospel and our walk with Jesus. But sometimes we put on a mask. Sometimes we fake it, but on the inside there are any number of things between us and the Lord and the freedom the Gospel provides for us.
Our perspective changes when we realize that God's perspective is so much bigger than our own. He sees more than we ever can and rescues us in ways we'll never realize. He rescues us because He delights in us.
God calls us to lead a quiet and peaceful life. This doesn't mean weak or powerless, but with a confidence and boldness in Christ, living unaffected by circumstances of the world.
Philippians 3:1-11--You may know Jesus, but are you living you life in a way that seeks the approval or acceptance of man? Are you letting others determine who you are? The truth about our existence is what God calls us. When we come expecting God's presence, He calls to us. The calling is different for each and every believer, but significant and Gospel-centered in every case.
Significant and consistent time fuels the power of prayer. Earnest prayer is time consuming, consistent, and sincere.
In 2 Timothy, Paul shares some of Timothy's spiritual heritage, from his grandmother, to his mother, and finally to the young Timothy, pastor of the early church in Ephesus.
