Someone, Somewhere: Recent Episodes

Joey

Someone, Somewhere is raw recordings from my travels on the road and abroad. These are recorded on my phone or on my Zoom Z4N in less than ideal conditions and the audio quality is the best I can get given the circumstances. If you hear bar noise or people talking it's because it was recorded in a bar, if you hear car's screeching in the background it's because it was recorded on the street. These are raw moments, quick intimate glances into anonymous humans lives and perspectives with the sole intent to shed light on the way life is viewed and understood by someone, somewhere. I have chosen to limit the name of the episodes to only be date, timestamp, and location, or if asked by the person captured, to simply be called someone, somewhere to limit the chances of ever being known. The content begins and ends just like life, from nowhere and ends just the same. No beginning, middle or end just a snapshot, a segment, a brief window into the soul and as soon as it comes it goes. The goal of this podcast is to illuminate someone, somewhere, regardless of where they came from, where they're going or who they are.

I bopped into the Beat Museum while roaming San Francisco and had a great conversation with one of the curators of the museum. We discussed the Beatnik era, authors, life in San Francisco and how it's changed and the legacy of all the great authors of that era upon the town and the world at large.

One time I was sitting on a bench when a skinny older man wearing horn rimmed glasses walks right up to me and says "hey I gotta tie my shoe you got to do that a lot more as you get older" and then proceeds to ramble at me for the better part of an hour. This strange genius' synaptic wanderings stray from televangelists, cults, the homeless crisis, monty python-esque absurd skits and general hilarious nonsense. Please enjoy with an open mind as our man's here has been on this earth for quite some years and has some dated views. However, he does command an unparalleled ability to non sequitur his way into semi cohesive thoughts. God bless the strange.

Another edition of me rambling in the car this time about remembering to feel joy in the subtleties of life. As the world gets increasingly dark and our strange dystopian world feels more and more like some fucked up scifi movie it's important to remember to enjoy the little things. Sunshine, friends, a really good cat, you know the good things man, smile man, come on, life's pretty good even in the darkest of times if you just adjust your paradigm.

I wound up at an afterparty in this strange art space and studio apartment. Big glass walls in the middle of downtown owned by an odd artist who struck it rich somehow. I ended up in a conversation with someone about friendship dynamics in the big city, the perils of cancel culture, platonic friendships in the age of polyamory, and learning how to use your sociopathic tendencies for good.

It's a sunny day baby, get the fuck outside and enjoy your life! Hell yah!

Car Rant Interlude 1 of many where I ramble into my phone about nonsense for various amounts of times and various subjects. Results may vary. This one's short. Soak it up.

Met some strange cats at Joshua Tree Saloon that told me tales of strange shamanic artifacts, local legends, psychedelic food poisoning and fraudulent authors.
