Kevin remembers he has to eat it, Max tests his plosives, and Merlin still just wants Kevin to be happy. Unless it would harm his career. Bring…back…my…PIG!
Max finally introduces Kevin and his role in the challenge, and then he tells people that Kevin is really good at what he does. Unlike other people. Also, Kevin saw some pigeons.
Alex doesn't seem to get stamps.
Kevin advises your hosts on what makes for a good diary comic, but Max mostly wants to know how many things he can buy. Merlin announces he's found his theme. Kevin is a gentle lover, and he knows how to position a missile. If you know what I mean. The gang meme it up with the cartoon characters they've wanted to ruin.
Rob Liefeld is…considered.
Kevin explains some science, but also has a lot of heart. (Man, we just love this guy.) The gang discuss the risks having a career based on personal vulnerability, but Max still has a lot more questions about gear, technique, and the optimal thirstiness of paper.
Please respect the craft of Max's skateboard illusions.
Long episode this week, so the after show is kind of a shorty. Also, hey, don't miss your bonus EMERGENCY POD on The Vengies!
The challenge comes from Alex this week, and she gets right to it with a Drafts challenge that Max finds perplexing.
Merlin learns he has to show his ass on the subway, and things just kinda go from there.
Max recognizes the power but doesn't need it. Merlin keeps trying to explain how things started with writing his toots outside Twitter, but then the egg boys start rising. They riiiiiise! Tip the chamber! Eat the white part!
Alex needs help from Dr. Don, and Max still can't get recognized by Alex's water goblins. Max likes his eggs loose, so he probably needs some help from Dr. Don too.
Alex and Merlin get back to selling Max on the benefits of the challenge, and two-thirds of the hosts are still totally gaybones for The Asshole Email App.
Alex has more great challenge ideas, and everybody likes them. Merlin wants people to start thinking about Face/Off, but Max firmly reminds Merlin that he still definitely needs to show his ass.
Friends of the pod Jenn Bane and Andrew Briggs join Alex and Max for a timely discussion of the JUST released feature film, Avengers: End Game.
Check out Jenn's show, Friendshipping, and Andrew's show, Quest Quest.
Jenn sticks around for the after show to help the gang figure out how the castaways deal with their extreme horniness.
Max tries to manage the dignified death of his Tamagotchi. Fuck you, Harley Jarvis!
Challenge talk ensues, and Max has some ideas. Journal comics are considered, and everybody has a little fun with the confused alien. Merlin recommends the work of @pants.
Jenn helps everyone understand the basics of skin care, but it doesn't go that great. Max needs a magic purse, but may have to settle for a Maester's sleeve.
The challenge is eventually decided, and now everyone needs to go make a breakfast dog erection.
Hey all, Alex here! As you may know, Do By Friday is mostly edited by the incredibly talented Quinn Rose! She just sent me this short compilation of clips that never made it into the show. I promise, you'll love it. Trust me.
Please check out the rest of Quinn's work at aspiringrobot.com. She's the best.
Alex and Max liked the challenge, but Merlin thinks Max uses texting as a calendar.
This week, it’s Max’s challenge, but, first, he has some thoughts about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What the hell is a “plot hole” anyway? Do character motivations and fake birds count?
They almost make it back to the challenge, but then things get a little silly for a minute.
Then, the gang arrives back to the actual challenge, and BOY are people going to love it!
Alex addresses her veiny egg pod treat, and everybody is all huffy about Numalarry. (n.b. ten-dollar cucks should look for the Veiny Egg video in this, their bespoke Patreon feed).
The gang talk over future challenge ideas that may involve Survivor. Sorry.
Also, apparently, Mark Zuckerberg Has a Podcast, and holy shit, he actually got Dopfner! The Dopf!
Max has notes on the length of Merlin's ad reads, and we learn that Merlin's kid gets occasional permission to quietly deploy one swear. Max assigns more media. And, then, more media. And, then, still. more. media.
Marvel movies and Pikachu canon are discussed. Alex has some thoughts on the rules of the Pokémon Cinematic Universe.
Exploration of a personalized skin care regime leads to consideration of Queer Eye and choosing the best stuff for your particular identity. Good for Jonathan!
Max knows he'll want to talk about Vengies, and the gang crave the return of their wonderful pal, Jenn. Merlin randomly offers how much he likes Jenn's energy and enjoys being her theoretical internet friend. Roderick sizes up Max.
This week's challenge is Alex's, and it involves raising a rowdy Japanese egg boy. Merlin already knows this is going to turn into A Whole Thing.
Max demands some in-show group video viewing, and Merlin struggles with his terrible new food delivery app.
Okay, fair enough, Max's video was actually very funny. (You should probably check out I Think You Should Leave on the Netflix.)
Also, Merlin gets rewarded for buying a goat.
Alex has questions about a belaying noise. Max is fully in on sleep tracking but needs some tech support. This leads to a Big Discussion of self-quantization that we promise is actually more interesting than it sounds. Mostly.
Hear how your hosts are pimping their health, gaming their sleep, and basically cheating death using advanced technologies. Classic life hacks!
It’s Merlin’s challenge this week, and he has four suggestions on offer, one of which is fucking awesome. This does not stop him from pitching his idea for a novelty Survivor season.
Max wisely postpones half of this week's challenge, and there are meta-questions about Free Solo. Max has a beef with mathowie plus some important helmet questions.
Merlin talks about why he can't finish then shares a photo. He also confesses that his daughter is ABD for her fifth grade graduation.
Anthony finally talks about Star Wars for a minute.
Max has thoughts on a problematic new prophylactic technology then finally pops off on his Taft story.
Thematic icons are sent, and Disney treats are commended. Again with the diarrhea.
Max finds new species to watch his little magic tricks, and pandas are (once again) debated. There are only two kinds of bears, and the gang has a canny plan to domesticate them. Merlin shares his vacation movie.
Anthony and Merlin recall the Florida fauna of their youth.
Next week's challenge is finalized, but who, at last, will speak for the condoms?
Max inflicts magic on Cameron and Alex with partial success.
A challenge is discussed, Merlin is still jury crack, and Eleanor's video animal died. Looks like next week will be a double challenge?
Your hosts look at mats together and talk about a style book adverbedly.
This week, your hosts are joined by Graham Stark and Beej Dery (sorry Ian!) of Loading Ready Run and we all learn a little bit about the creative process, Canadian snacks, and concussions.
As promised, here are the photos of Max after he was hit by a car. Reminder: the Scoot Scoot Board is okay.
Max is taking photos and revealed he planted a lot of magic on Todd. There was a cavalcade of meats.
Alex finds some very old screenshots, and Merlin has no reason why things are where they are. There is some rapping. Alex has concerns about how Max judges poems, but Max has concerns that Alex wasn't really there.
The mind motions challenge is definitely on, but next week there will be a special guest. Max wants help with skin care.
Special guest friends Kevin and Jenn stop by!
We learn how Merlin totally fucked up the whole recording. It's his fault it sounded like it did, and he sucks.
Alex has a magic trick, and Merlin has two waters going. Underaged alcohol is discussed, and CAH's investment people appear to be grifting McDonald's treats. Your hosts covet new audio equipment that they don't really need.
The gang talks about breathing and sleep apps, and Merlin has some suggestions for Max.
Alex has a future challenge, but first Merlin wants to brag about his sleep. Alex's challenge is a new stretch goal that is very upsetting, so we think you'll like it.
It's Max's challenge this week, and it's a recent movie. Higher, Further, Faster! Then, things turn back to the sleep issue, and Apple Health hacks are shared. Where's my glasses?!
Merlin discusses the contents of his Amazon wish list, and Max finds a cameo by Hank Hill. iOS shittiness is criticized, and Max has a big feature request. Max and Alex try to steal the choir's seats. Max got a photo of Bernie, and it definitely wasn't at all weird.
Max compliments Merlin's other program, and Merlin admits he kinda lost it over nut butter.
Podcasts are recommended, and somehow that becomes a discussion about unapologetically defending your time. You TOO!
Merlin offers an array of possible challenges, and it looks like this one will involve paper. Alex had a sad time in her life—a long time ago, okay?!
Max shares a cool new life hack, and then pops off on one of his patented rants. Don't send him the link!
Kevin sticks around for the after show.
Max is doing well in his Survivor draft, and, yes, there is more Survivor talk. Please don’t delete your Patreon.
Discussion turns to the challenge, and Merlin proposes a real dinger for the future. Alex has an actual really good one for next week. It involves a harness.
Everyone learns how to make ringtones.
Max asks everyone if they read an article he liked about not using your phone too much. Alex says you should read up to the part about pottery. Then everybody argues for a while, and Max makes a midnight Hamas cake.
In any case, please keep using your phone to listen to our program.
Merlin is still quoting Kurt Vonnegut, and Alex has questions about Savvy’s delectability.
There’s a new season of Survivor, and, wow, Max has something to share.
Max is very excited about his Survivor content, starting with picking a problematic name for his tribe. Ideas for novelty theme seasons are offered.
There’s a long part where Max discusses his dossier in detail.
This week’s challenge is Merlin’s, and after some discussion, The Eliot Rosewater Challenge is finally unleashed.
Also, hey, Brian Regan!
Merlin is obsessed with John Mulaney, and Alex has begun a deep dive. STREET Smarts!
Buca di Beppo? Beppo di Buca? Joey Boopo's? As Matchie knows, you have to just tell the person it's for a very sick little kid.
Alex says she has a story about bagels, and Max and Merlin struggle to help her discover what the story actually is. It may involve—what—flavored steam maybe? Would you prefer the Anna Kendrick, the Cuba Gooding Jr., or the Chance the Rapper?
Max has trouble falling asleep, and, because he's a terrible person, he introduces his co-hosts to a fatal condition that they now can't unhear. Alex believes in sheer force of will, and Merlin thinks you have to just convince yourself it's okay. Or maybe you could remember every person you've ever harmed. Anyway, sleep tight!
Merlin has an anecdote about recent choking and the news. This leads to a very relaxing discussion about the utter horror of panic attacks.
It's Alex's challenge this week, and she has a book to offer.
Unfollowing people makes them sad, and Alex is a little worked up about it. Merlin thinks there's a big irony in trying to warn people about it. Max deleted Twitter altogether, even though he kinda made fun of Merlin for doing the same thing (or did he just imagine that?). Try inhaling the quicksand, okay?
No one ever thought comedians were funny anyway. Deleting old tweets is discussed and Birdhouse is mourned.
Merlin is excited for a future Eliot Rosewater Challenge.
"These are The Breaks!"
Max finds a new revenue stream for teens, but he also has his reasons for keeping his ghost account on Facebook. Unsurprisingly, this leads to some heated discussion on the latest ransacking of the village by Zuck's Monster.
After some persuasion, Merlin finally shares the magic of Sausage Night.
Max has an idea for a really dark challenge where bespoke influence is wielded. The gang end up just repeatedly googling the influence creep. Gross.
There's some follow-up on the dumb Atlantic story, and Merlin gets a little emo about Inbox Zero.
In the end, your hosts considering influencing themselves, and Max may hypothetically have already gotten a hypothetical head start.
Recipe for Sausage Night
As planned, the gang continues to watch funny SNL videos.
This week's challenge involves competitive bacon. Epic bacon!
Things end on a tragic note when Merlin learns he made Max feel bad.
Three cheers for Nancy, and boo for Twitter. It does not spark joy.
Merlin watched 9/11, and did do the challenge. Memories of 9/11 are discussed, and the challenge is also discussed. Alex should wear less makeup. Meditation is distinguished from relaxation.
Max introduces the burgeoning field of teledildonics. He also drops a challenge that’s later withdrawn, but not before Merln has spent a couple hundred bucks.
Then, there’s discussion of SNL sketches that goes on for way too long and eventually becomes the proper challenge.
I'm a Terrezano's girl!
Woke Italian Man ees'a so sorry! More Survivor talk, and then everybody gets all mad about Go-Fund-ing Captain Marvel. This leads to a deep dive on corporate charity as consumption absolution.
Then everybody gets all mad about the Scholastic Book Fair. What a shitshow.
Merlin shares an anecdote and cries a little (mark your BINGO card). Shit is complicated. Alex says she went to a gross private Catholic school that also invited capitalism in. Max recalls how you could tell who had money for Big Ski. Also, Max's school had a Jewish book fair. They sold megillas and biographies of directors.
This week's challenge is Alex's and it involves a cyber headband.
Apparently, Will Shortz is now problematic.
Merlin has backstory on the headband and why he got one.
Then, the gang takes a little trip to Hogwarts where we find Snape volunteering to help out at the book fair. [Insert fart noise]
Alex and Merlin go solo (duo?) for this one, and, man, it gets deep.
There's follow-up on The Asshole Email App. All email apps suck. Inbox Zero!
Merlin gets all Holden Caulfield about awards. Alex explains her recent experiment in populism, and Merlin suspects it's a millennium thing.
Merlin gets very Holden Caulfield about Facebook.
Your hosts talk about deciding to have a theme for the year, and this leads to a pretty deep dive on self-improvement, scaffolding, faith, community, agency, and the ways we all try to find meaning and mooring. Also, sometimes? Happiness.
[This is a good one.]
Guest-Host Jenn sticks around to talk about more restaurant humiliations and puppy cards, and The Gang gets a surprise visit from a familiar Host-Guest.Max has a media challenge, and everybody worries about their hearts a little. Also, hey, King of the Hill and Clueless!
Read the Room!
More congratulations for Max and follow-up on child-scaring memories of Thomas the Tank Engine. The gang dive deep on this important week of honor and why they react the way they do. Everybody gets sad about politics and sundowning.
Alex has way upped her coffee intake.
Challenge talk ensues, and Max has an idea for him, Merlin, and next's week's guest co-host (and friend of the show), Jenn.
Alex has had a busy morning and might be tempted by the offer of muscle relaxants.
While we've shared this episode with the public feed, only YOU get to submit mysteries for us to consider: https://goo.gl/forms/gyhgbAcJqw5tCf0G2

The gang talk about what animates voters in a big election. Max thinks there’s a lot of fantasies out there and predicts sad results. Merlin thinks you shouldn’t capitulate to a bully, and Max has an amazing reading series. Alex diagnoses a manic stroke and groans a lot. It’s Alex’s challenge this week, and she agrees to an idea that came up during the main episode.
CHEALLENGE!
Alex has to travel this week for a reconnaissance mission, and Max does a magic trick. Alex candidly critiques Max’s magic style.
Dr. Don sticks around as the gang just keeps dunking on Max. Merlin likes his challenge too much to spend his chicken on the wood. This gives him the chance to re-present the challenge with extra context for why he loves it so much. This leads to much discussion of how your hosts (and their microbiologist friend) listen to, discover, organize, and just generally deal with music these days. Merlin makes a case for Spotify as the best discoverability and “mix tape” service.
Many suggestions are traded. Fun is had.
Merlin makes Steely Dan songs with his mouth.
Alex has a new makebelieve kitty and a strong regional accent. Heavyweight, Livewire, and Jonathan Goldstein just in general are complimented. Max has an idea for a future challenge, and books are discussed and begged. Dr. Don is dangled. Again with Max and the hand-washing. Gingerbread houses and Lysol come up again. Merlin can hear Max's cards. Max wants to run a hose. (Max has a lot going on in this episode.) CAH office toilet seats are still an issue. Again with Alex and pockets.
Merlin unleashes the "follow your nose" Spotify challenge, making next week's challenge technically a two-fer. Alex has no special affection for streaming audio apps. Merlin has no special affection for iTunes. Then, they kinda go off on Apple apps.
Alex and Merlin talk about the new Doctor a little. Then, there are some Aviator goofs. There are concerns about Cate Blanchett, apparently. Alex drinks raccoon water when she flies.
Max claims he's taking a vacation, but nobody's really buying it. Alex didn't buy a camera. Merlin's glad he didn't get hecked. Chapo comes up again.
Merlin reminisces about Chick Publications, then the gang talks about the First Large Adult Sons.
There's a hurricane a'brewing, Max shows off his wiener, Alex pops off with a rant, Merlin is a karmasuck about food photos, then arguing about Instagram ensues.Podcast recommendations freely flow!
Challenge talk begins, and Max bring along a chestnut from his younger years. Merlin pre-pitches a musical challenge.
Hey pals!Goofy ol' Alex here. Unfortunately, that means you don't get some funny show descriptions from Merlin. On the bright side, you get to see my very clever after show art. Get it? Because the challenge is...well, you'll see.
Also, here's another picture of my cat. He's started to build forts out of his toys. I will update you on his progress.
Alex considers conscientious cannibalism. Max almost has a challenge, but then people start misquoting The Godfather. Briefly, mob movies are praised. Max assumes everyone is buying phones and that kind of becomes a challenge. Where people will learn some stuff. Professor Temkin's iPhone gets the treatment. Lotta red badges.
Then, there is a lot a lot of discussion about how to do TV.
Max has made a little library, and he'd love your help. He also has a nice anecdote about magic.
Also: 🗿🥚
In this very special episode, your hosts are reporting live from the show floor. Also, a soupy challenge is proposed.
The McElroys stole Max’s idea and Alex didn’t even get a free shirt. Merlin’s daughter wants a Taako shirt. Alex is excited about something called the voreverse. Max acknowledges a great source of challenges. Max then introduces some of these challenges. Problem is, it’s Alex’s week, and, boy, she picks a doozy. Alex is gakked out on sinus medicine. The cheese has been moved, and no one knows who’s moved it. Max has honest questions. Phones are discussed, and velcro removal is demoed. Geofencing is a very sexy topic, so of course your hosts talk about it. Alexa, STOOOOOOOPPPP! McElroy Merch * Murder on the Rockport Limited * Getting Things Done* * Claritin-D * Tactical Velcro Opening Secret-Special Forces * Alexa Skill Blueprints
Merlin has a new smart speaker on the way, so the gang argues about voice dinguses. Max makes a gig poster, and Merlin offers an unnecessary celebrity anecdote. Alex thinks the youths are pussies. Senator Queso is getting sweaty and scared. Max poses a thought experiment about having breakfast with a cunning CEO and extolls his own very high comedy standards. This week the challenge is Merlin’s, but Alex still refuses to steal valor. A challenge is proposed, but there’s no consensus on the rules. Finally, a very sad party challenge is reluctantly agreed to. Amazon wants your contacts, and Alex’s vomiting is further discussed.* Sonos One * Why Teenagers Eat Tide Pods * Punk Rock Beto * Breakfast with Schwab * The Dog Video
Max wants people to watch him twitch, but Producer Chris is not on the team. No one ever remembers whose challenge it is. Max has an idea for a thing involving podcasts. There is discussion of comedy and who is funny. Max has an audible dot com and decides to switch things up with the challenge. Psych! Alex and Merlin discover porn on Amazon Unlimited. Goofy ol' Alex here! This is the last time I post the main episode a day early. We were just trying to give you a treat! Of course you're getting an after show. Calm down!
For the majority of you who didn't complain, here's a picture I just took of my cat trying to fit in a Nike box. Much like their shoes, they run small.
Remember: listen to this AFTER the main show.
I still love you,
Alex
Max’s friend didn’t do a drawing right, so people have notes. Merlin cops to following crazy on Twitter. Melania watches what she wants.Max has questions about tidying, Alex learns how to tip housekeeping, and the gang discuss how they each roll vis-à-vis cinema cleanup. Unlike Stephen Miller.
This week’s challenge is vested in Alex, and Max gets thrown some accidental deodorant shade.
Alex is still ill, Max gets chopped and screwed, and Anita has no drank. The Department of Energy has a little oopsie-doopsie. Challenge ideas are explored and books are discussed. Merlin is confused about a dragon analogy, Max is glad we’re finally solving death, and Alex is reluctant to steal valor. Merlin is also fatigued about defending things.
Dealing with people is considered, and Anita is educated about stealing valor, sir.
Max has a terrific challenge, and Alex is having the best day of her life. But, yeah, she is still very ill.
In this very special after show, we’re joined by Friend of the Show, Anita Sarkeesian. Anita has some grievances to air with Max in particular, and we’re reminded that Alex just doesn't do eye contact. Merlin wonders whether they really need him for this one.
Talk turns to discussion of The Good Shit Cinematic Universe, and Anita talks about how hashing out Terms of Service works in our actual cinematic universe. Merlin wants to talk about Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Alex has questions about Virginia’s prison conditions.
Anita presents the gang with a great challenge, and Alex talks kind of a lot about vomiting. Anita shares her two cents on the best of the MCU, and Max makes a case for monarchy via physical battle.
Alex has to go to England (not that we’re mad), so Max gets straight to it with a terrific challenge involving Professor Mister Temkin. Anita wants to yell at Max about the ACLU, and we’re more than happy to accommodate her. A listener provides us with the canonical “SPLATTER!” and Merlin shares his new “I Wish” song.
Alex’s fresh-faced new interns drop by to visit with the gang. Also, Prof. Dr. Doctor has updates on dinosaur colors. Jordan has some thoughts on Beca’s audio moves. No one watches Merlin’s video. Our challenge this week comes from some a-mazing listener submissions over on The Reddit.
An oatmeal disagreement threatens to tear the Berns-Temkin house asunder, and Merlin recognizes some of the sounds Alex made are probably words.
After some tech rejiggering and insufferable musical talk, Dr. Burns joins the gang for a scientific taste test. There’s also some dinosaur talk and more angry political grousing. All the fixins! BUT! She also has an awesome challenge for us.
Riff-Off!
Hi pals, it's Alex again! So: it's Friday, I have glitter all over my keyboard because it's the day before Pride in Chicago, and you should remember to listen to the main episode before this one. Thanks for your fucking money. Seriously.
In this very special episode, you will FEEL yourself in the room(s) as things go terribly wrong for your friends and their special guest(s).Will Max stop harassing his father-less mailing list? Is Alex even still there? Is there a challenge in there somewhere? Will Merlin ever get his pho?
Just…really terribly wrong.
Max makes a coffee, Alex has to go to a wedding, and Merlin just really super doesn't want to go to a computer show. Fogo de Chão? Beppo di Buca? Just bring Max your biggest wine please and thank you. Everybody likes to be a regular. Large and deliberately rude restaurants are discussed.Alex has some updates on a coffee chain's very brave racial awareness training. Merlin's excellent joke is three-fifths overlooked. Max moves to speaker phone, and, no, he STILL doesn't want a cup of hot milk. Speak your truth, m'kay?
Max has some updates on Milo Hippopotamus, who may not be the brilliant tactician we'd thought he was.
Merlin has a challenge he thought Max would hate, but, hey, everybody is into it. Go figure.
Eggs in a bastik are discussed. Alex has received a stark marital ultimatum, meanwhile, Merlin is more worried than ever about Alex's Problematic Boyfriend. Exist.io is—what?—trying, I guess?
There's some Marvel comics talk, and Alex interviews Merlin about making stuff. A challenge is proposed, and Merlin is really not liking it. Starting and then discussing this challenge continues for quite a while. Merlin makes a lot of groan-y noises.
Various kinds of random name generation and bra ads are discussed. Finally, the introduction of a new hit breakout character, "C. Les Often."
No Peanut Butter! Max surprised Alex and Merlin with a guided tutorial from Tim Nahumck, an iOS evangelist who literally wrote the book on the new Drafts 5. If you like this treat, consider giving us your money.
Oh boy. In the main episode, everyone is disloyal! This week's After Show has a bit more Infinity War talk, and Alex is very tired. Every time you listen to this before the main episode, Trump kills a turtle.
Max's secret automation show will be released later on this feed. Stay tuned!
Hello! It’s Alex again. I’m going to type this fast because I’m very sick. So sick in fact, that I really enjoyed re-listening to our Hot Takes on Avengers: Infinity War, including Max’s predicted sequel and Merlin’s reflection on the current media landscape. I'm serious. It's very good.
Don’t worry, we let you know before we spoil anything. As always, remember to listen to the main episode first. Here's a picture of my cat. He's taking good care of me.
Everybody likes Dr. Don, Merlin doesn’t want to talk about Infinity War (but loves Killing Eve), Alex is just excited about Sandra Oh, and The Gang agrees when they’ll know it’s definitely the last episode of the show. The breakout new character, “Keychain Guy” is explored. It’s Alex’s week for a challenge, Merlin needs to inspect your badge, Max kiboshes Alex’s challenge idea, music is discussed, Max and Merlin hate their eDoorbell, and mentalism and skateboards are considered.
A challenge is arrived upon, and Max doubles down on demanding to discuss the dumb Avengers movie.
Finally, Max gets cucked on his Fancy Duchess parking space.
No notes for this one. You just need to listen for yourself. It’s a VERY good challenge with a VERY special guest, and oh, boy, does shit get weird.
Hesitation marks, so-called wireless charging, some Inside Baseball on challenges and scheduling, Max opens some disappointing packages, extensive bag talk, then maybe the easiest challenge ever.
Merlin does some vaguely plant-related things, discussion of Zuck's face and sweat, Max was on Facebook before it was cool, tech behind deep Facebook creepiness, loss of Firefox, Merlin keeps tabs on #Qanon, a challenge is discussed, Instant Pot updates, the gang discuss their "Twitter Interests," plus some problematic Disney (we never thought it was funny). Then, Merlin has a question that leads to a super deep dive on the Michael Cohen raid and what it might mean.
Hey, it's the after show!Lots of TV talk, a sweet alien golf boy, a dramatic block list reading, Max gets called out, an abortive challenge from Merlin, more TV talk, neck vulvas, Ronny Jackson speculation, #Qanon fascination, Discord progression, new member stuff coming, and an actual challenge from Max.
Hello, it's Alex again! How'd I find myself here? In this week's after show we continue our conversation with Mr. Sandwich and get into some more nerdy film talk. And, hey: thanks for being nice to each other on the Discord. Remember, listen to the main episode first!
Stan in the place where you live—now face North. Oh. Hey, everybody, it's the after show! And our pal Jenn stuck around for some quality hang time.
Max has a cool Patreon Member announcement for you guys, Droopy the PUA returns to the program with some "/r/seduction" questions, our President gets a little confused, Max makes his big health reveal, and, in Max's absence, the accreditation of his quote-unquote "law school" is heavily interrogated.
Hey, Team. Merlin here.As you know, I have a lot of problems.
And, arguably, one of my more benign problems is my lifelong obsession with the music and career arc of The Beatles. It's legitimately an affliction.
Even though I was only, like, three- or four-years-old when the band broke up, their glorious and evolving catalog has been a force and a presence and a friend throughout my entire half-century of life.
I love The Beatles. And thinking about them and the decisions that they made on the day are weirdly often on my mind.
So, when it fell to me to issue a seemingly innocuous Beatles challenge, it should come as no surprise that this obsession led to a lot of boring mouth diarrhea about the quotidian details of their songs, relationships, and cultural impact—as well as all the improbably deep feelings all those things stimulate in me. What can I say? I’m Generation X, and I'm utterly broken inside.
Anyhoo. The beautifully manicured episode that Alex produced cannily condensed a FULL HOUR that was spent just discussing The Beatles in our original raw recording.
And, while I'm glad and grateful that she trimmed as wonderfully as she did (isn't Alex just the best?), a part of me wanted to share our dorky, dumb, too-long, and shambling exploration in full.
So, now, as John says, it's all this.
Thus, provided here is my raw Skype recording of all The Beatles talk. Unedited, unbalanced, unexpurgated, and, yes, largely unnecessary.
It runs about an hour.
Because I love you.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah…
Yeah.
Hi friends, it's Alex! I'm sorry for interrupting your evening. In this week's after show we're joined by Jenn Bane who gives us our challenge for next week. Remember, listen to the main episode first! Or, do what you want. I'm not the boss of you, and the podcast dads aren't here to stop me.
I'm sorry,
The Gang have customer service beefs, Merlin has a notebook system, Alex just wants to draw, and Max has some notes about his law notes. No one has a good Pooh voice, but everybody has opinions about the Uncanny Valley. A challenge is collaborated upon.Listen to the main episode first!

Hey, cucks! This week, your hosts workshop the new challenge in REAL TIME, and you are there. Alex doesn't like being asked about her feelings, Max has concerns about Star Wars, and Merlin wants to swing from the chandelier.

In this unprecedented Emergency Episode, your hosts are joined by very special guest, Steve Temkin. Yes, that Steve Temkin. Father of Max and teacher of the card effect that broke Merlin's brain in Episode 62. We also hear some choice tidbits about Max's childhood and learn about Steve's side-career as a brainiac lecturer on all things magical.
SPOILER ALERT! The exact mysterious and magickal trickery behind the effect is revealed in detail, so definitely skip this one if you're averse to that kind of thing.
[This is a good one]
