Hey y'all. We're a small church from Hillsboro, MO. Our mission is to share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ to the rest of the world. Each week, we will be uploading the audio portion of our Sunday sermons.
Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will continue in 1 Corinthians 10 again today. We know from last week’s passage that the Israelites made many mistakes, and if we’re honest, we have made the same mistakes. As Christians, we are still fully capable of doing evil, but what makes us different is that we have the ability to choose otherwise. That doesn’t mean we will get it right every time, but just know that anything we put before God is just a cheap imitation that will have no lasting satisfaction. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 10 today. Do you ever complain when you don’t get your way? I’m sure most of us have (I know I have). Maybe your paycheck wasn’t as big this week as you thought it would be, or maybe the coffee machine at the gas station was out. Or maybe half of your coworkers called out and you had to do extra work. Now these are valid modern problems, but our grumblings go back a long time, even to the Israelites. They complained about not having enough to eat, or limited choices, and as a result, a lot of them got sick and died. Our circumstances might not be as extreme, but if we’re relying on our own strength or modern comforts to get us through the day rather than rely on God, that’s idolatry. Life is gonna suck sometimes, and God knows that. So rather than repeat the mistakes of the Israelites and struggle through life, surrender it all to him, and trust in His promises.

We will be in Genesis 32 today. Sometime after Jacob moved his family, he wrestled with a man that ended up being God. Many of us wrestle God every day, but for the wrong reason. When Jacob wrestled with God, he wanted to be blessed with what God promised him, rather than wrestling to have God leave him alone. Whether you wrestle with him to take away past addictions, cut off toxic relationships, or to endure the hardships of this world, our struggle with God should bring us closer to Him.

We will be in 2 Timothy 4 today. Can we all agree it’s been a rough week? Most of the country is grieving, the enemy is rejoicing, and a lot of people are lost and don’t know what to do next. If you are seeking vengeance, just know that Charlie Kirk is now a Martyr, and God will avenge the evil that has come upon us. Any one of us could be next, but now is not the time to hide, or to hold hatred, because that doesn’t save souls. This is why Paul tells Timothy to be ready in season and out of season. Now is the time to step out in faith and share the truth, even if it kills us. Are you ready for it?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Acts 8 today. How many of you have been baptized? Many were " baptized” as a baby by sprinkling, but that doesn't do anything to save your soul. If our goal is to just baptize people, then all we're doing is giving everyone a bath without cleaning their spirit. Baptism doesn't save you, but what Jesus did for us does. So if you want to be baptized, you need to receive Jesus first and allow him to save you. The baptism is just a symbolic statement of faith. If you're ready to receive Jesus, what are you waiting for? Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

We will be in 1 Peter 3 today. If you are a believer in Christ, is it ok to intentionally sin? Afterall, Christ’s sacrifice covers all sins. NO!!! Even though we are still saved regardless, choosing to sin still affects those around us. When we come to be believers in Christ, our lives should transform, and our actions are supposed to be intentional for the purpose of others being saved. If we choose to do and speak evil things, we don’t stand a chance for others to listen to us. But if our actions reflect Christ's actions, people will take notice, and lives will change forever. We are inheriting a blessing, will you choose to use that blessing for the salvation of others, or so that you can keep on sinning?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 1 today. Who likes to suffer? If you’re a normal human, nobody likes to suffer. But as a Christian, if you are being faithful, suffering is pretty much a guarantee. All too often, we avoid suffering, but when we play it safe, others miss the opportunity to hear the Gospel. We aren’t supposed to be comfortable, and if that’s your goal in life, perhaps you’re not listening to the Holy Spirit. Life is going to be difficult, but when souls are saved as a result of your faithfulness, the suffering is worth it.
Don’t forget to pray for and encourage one another. As a reminder, members can donate online at tithe.ly, or through the tithe.ly mobile app. We have a podcast called “The Highland Gospel Mission” on Spotify, Google, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
“and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10: 24-25

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 5 today. What is it that God wants you to do with your life? The answer will be different for everyone. But our actions should have purpose to the extent that others will know who Jesus is. If we keep to ourselves in the dark, the world will stay asleep and be in the dark. This world is in desperate need of Jesus, and every action that we make, big or small, will have a real world impact on other people’s lives. Be intentional, and make the most of that time, because it’s running out.

We will be in Matthew 24 today. Have you noticed just how much the world has changed in just the past 50 years? Morals have shifted, major weather events have increased, wars are starting to pick up, just as Jesus told us. We are living in the end times, and things are going to get much more difficult for the Church. The pressure will be on for Christians, and many will give into pressure and turn away from Christ. This is when we need Christ the most. My encouragement is to stay faithful, follow His commandments, and live the life in Christ that has the power to save souls, because the world is coming for them.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 4 today. What does it mean to be a steward? If you’ve ever had a manager or been a manager, you would know they basically fit the definition. They are responsible for making sure things run properly, but more importantly, they are responsible for the people that look up to them. As Christians, we are managers of the Gospel in the same way. And whether we like it or not, there’s someone that we are influencing. A bad manager only considers himself, negatively influences the team, and assumes authority that isn’t his. The same thing applies to Christians that say they trust in Jesus, but refuse to give up the authority that was never theirs to begin with. Life was never promised to be easy, especially for a believer, but by trusting God, allowing Him to be the ruler in our lives, and being responsible stewards, life will be much more fulfilling.

We will be in Philippians 3 today. What are you capable of or qualified for? Maybe you’re a great speaker, savvy with money, or great with your hands. Now take those things that you are great at, and throw them out the door. God wants to fill us with qualifications even greater than we could ever achieve on our own. Trying to do it ourselves won't get us very far. Allow God to use you, and see what He can accomplish.

We will be in 1 John 1 today. Have you ever lost your way? Have you ever made a mistake and committed a sin that you swore you would never do again? You're not alone. We all struggle with sin to some degree, but the difference between genuine Christianity and self righteousness is that genuine Christianity is made righteous through Jesus. God doesn't want perfect people, He wants repentant people, and genuine repentance comes through sharing our sins and struggles with trusted brothers and sisters in Christ. Don't settle for second best by putting on a show, because His grace is sufficient.

We will be in 1 Kings 19 today. Elijah had just destroyed the prophets of Baal, yet when he received a threat from Jezebel, he got scared and hid in a cave. God boldens us, but we are still human and will have those moments of fear. It's in those moments that God often whispers to us in the most unexpected ways, rather than grab our attention through fire and fury. Remember, it's ok to not be ok, but it's not ok to stay that way. So if you're hurt, struggling, afraid, or going through something else entirely, stop, pray, and listen for Him. God is here to help you because He loves you.

We will be in Matthew 25 today. Can faith save you without works? It's complicated. Faith alone is what saves you, works does not. But faith without works isn't faith, it's a facade. God gives each of us gifts, and expects us to use them, just like the servants who were expected to invest their money. So whether you receive many gifts, or receive few, be faithful in what God gives you through your works.

We will be in Romans 14 today. Is it a sin to dance, smoke, wear a hat in church, or eat certain kinds of meat? Whether you say yes or no, you are right. A lot of sins aren't covered in the Bible, but fall under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. This doesn't mean that the answer is the same for everyone. We have to be careful not to let tradition be the judge. We should support one another through the repentance process, but if the Holy Spirit hasn't convicted a brother or sister to repent of something, then we shouldn't call them out on it. That's God's job.

We will be in Ephesians 2 today. What does it mean to love? Love is an action, demonstrating that you care enough about someone to put their well being first. Christ did this by suffering and dying on the cross so that we could receive salvation. So why aren't we returning the favor? As Christians, we should love Christ by following His commands and loving one another. That means actually caring about others, not seeking to get even, helping people out, and doing the same things Jesus did during his ministry. God doesn't force us to be faithful, that's the gift He gave us. So let's use that gift and love one another.

We will be in Ephesians 1 today. For those of you who attend church, what is the main reason you go? Or for those of you who aren’t into the whole “church thing”, what do you think it’s all about? Is it about how you feel? What kind of music they play? Whether or not they serve coffee? Or even down to the color of the paint on the walls, or whether they have chairs or pews, none of that matters. Because if we make church about anything other than Jesus, then we are doomed. Churches split and close over trivial things all the time. Church should be all about worshipping the one who saved our soul, and encouragement to other believers to seek and save the lost. Jesus’ sacrifice was all about you, so let’s make church all about Him.

We will be 1 Corinthians 2 today. What does it mean to live by grace, not rules? Grace is a gift from God, but is often something to be abused. Christ gave up His life so that we could be free FROM sin, not free TOO sin. The price He paid was far to great for us to just abuse Grace. This week, we will explore how true faith in Jesus transforms our hearts, leads us by the Holy Spirit, and calls us to a life of purpose. Salvation is free—but it changes everything. How can the Gospel change your life?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be Colossians 3 today. Salvation is a gift, but grace isn’t an excuse. In this message, we explore the balance between Christ’s finished work and our ongoing responsibility as believers. It’s not about following rules—it’s about living with purpose and gratitude.

We will be Romans 7 today to confront a truth we often avoid: we're all sinners, incapable of saving ourselves. But that's not the end—it's the beginning of grace. Through personal stories, biblical insight, and heartfelt conviction, this sermon reveals how God doesn’t expect perfection—He desires repentance.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be Matthew 28 today. This message, again, is primarily for our members at Highland Baptist Church, but applies to anyone in the Church. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he gave us a commandment known as the great commission. That commandment is to go unto the world teaching all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s the verse that I reference at the end of each episode, and the entire purpose of this podcast. Our 3 main purposes as a church at Highland Baptist are Evangelism, Discipleship, and Missions. All 3 serve the same goal of seeking and saving the lost. But it isn’t our job to save people, but to share the story that can. So whether you’re a member at Highland, or a different church, the mission is the same.

We will be Titus 3 today. Today’s message is primarily for those at Highland, but can be applied to all growing churches. Our numbers have been growing lately, and in order for the church to function, we need to be able to communicate, hold one another accountable, and build one another up. We need to work with each other, not against each other, we need to show respect to our leaders, even if we disagree with them, and we need to help out one another by stepping into the roles that God has called us into. Change is scary, but remember, we serve a God that doesn’t change. He still loves us when we succeed, and when we fail, and will always be there right with us.

We will be Titus 2 today. There's a saying that she is just a number. And while that may be true, whether we're young or old, we all have a role in the church. Older folks have a responsibility to teach the younger people whether it be through leading classes, discipleship, or just being a role model. And young people should be obedient to wherever they are called, even if that call is to be a preacher. So whatever your age, don't let anyone disregard you, we are working for God.

We will be in John 21 today. Peter was the original Jesus fanboy, but in the beginning that’s all he was. He loved Jesus on a very superficial level, yet when it came time to be faithful, Peter wasn’t able to do anything without Jesus standing there. Peter’s love for Jesus changed over the course of his life, and the same thing can happen with us. It’s easy to say I love Jesus when things are going easy. But Jesus calls us to be faithful regardless of circumstances. Do you love Jesus like a brother, or like a savior? Do you phileo Jesus, or do you agape Him?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Happy Easter and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 20. We talk about Jesus and His impact on our lives all the time, but today is the day we celebrate what He did for us, and I don’t think we realize just how impactful that was. At any time, Jesus could have come down off that cross and ended the suffering, but He didn’t. And it cost Him everything because He loves us so much. We may love Jesus, but Jesus is more than a person, He is a purpose. The work that He did on the cross started a movement, and that work isn't finished, it continues with us. If you love Jesus, keep his commandments, and His commandment is to be faithful and share the Gospel message of salvation.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 17 today. Jesus sure did make a lot of people mad. He overturned the money changers, called out the Pharisees and Sadducees, and upset the high priests. He intentionally made a lot of enemies for the purpose of being persecuted and sent to death. How often do we go out of our way to do the same. Most people (myself included) try to avoid conflict, but this accomplished nothing. If we are going to be faithful, some people are going to be upset, and we may get hurt in the process. Christ's forgiveness comes with a responsibility to be faithful to him, because his death came at a high price.

We will be in Mark 14 today. The definition of a Christian literally means “little Christ”. Originally meant as an insult, we adopted this word as our identity. We are meant to be imitators of Jesus so that the world can receive Him and His salvation. But we won't always be perfect at that. Peter thought his love for Jesus was strong enough to never slip, but as Jesus predicted, he denied Him 3 times that night. We won't be perfect, but my encouragement is to be the little Jesus that the world desperately needs right now.

We will be in Romans 12 today. What does it truly mean to sacrifice? For the apostles, it meant sharing the Gospel under the threat of death or persecution. These days, persecution to most means getting made fun of for what you believe, or getting into an argument with someone online. Most of us have never experienced true persecution in our lives. In some parts of the world, speaking the name of Jesus would be a death sentence, and yet we’re afraid to say that name in front of our neighbors, coworkers, or even our family members. My challenge to you this week is to embrace the uncomfortable, and step out in faith.

We will be in Titus 1 and 2 today. People are watching you. And I'm not just talking about the nosy government. Everything we do, we are being watched. The things we say, the things we do, and the places we go contribute to other’s perspective of us, and as Christians, that can have an impact on the Gospel. Of course, we aren’t going to be perfect, and you can’t expect someone who just became a Christian to behave in the same way as someone who has been a Christian for 30 years, but we must be sensible. Sin will always be a problem, but it should never control us, and we should always allow the grace of Jesus to work within those struggles.

We will continue in Titus 1 today. We all struggle with sin in some capacity. Sometimes that sin will have a negative impact on the Church, or on the lost. As Christians, we are representing Christ at all times, and must hold one another accountable for sins that would create a stumbling block.

We will continue in Titus 1 today. As we grow in Christianity, life only becomes more difficult. Paul mentions not being accused of dissipation. What does that mean? Dissipation means wasting time or money, basically doing things that offer no value to the Church. So if you are to grow in your faith and become an elder in your church, your expectations and responsibilities grow as well. Church isn't supposed to be a gentlemen's club to shoot the breeze once a week. It's a body of believers worshipping together and encouraging each other, so that the rest of the week we can share that same Gospel message with a world that desperately needs it.

We will be in Titus 1 today. God has called each and every one of us to serve in the body of Christ. Some are pastors, some deacons, and many in every other supportive role. Different roles have different responsibilities. Deacons or elders in the church are held to a higher standard than many in the congregation, and the pastor is held to an even higher standard. There are special reasons for this, but whatever God calls you to, He will use you to do amazing things. Seek God and ask Him where He wants you to be.

We will be in Philippians 2 today. Paul went through a lot in his short life. He was shipwrecked, thrown in prison, beaten, chased out of towns, all for the sake of the Gospel. In other words, he lived his life just like Christ, who was also beaten, chased out of town, arrested, and died a terrible death. To live a Christian life, we have to be willing to be uncomfortable, even if it means we are put in a situation that Paul or Jesus were put in. It won’t be easy, but we serve a God that will equip us with everything we need to accomplish His will.

We will be in Galatians 6 today. We've covered this topic before, but what does it mean to be the church? The church isn't just a building. It's a body of believers that care about one another and support one another. Being a faithful Christian requires an emotional investment that can be quite vulnerable at times. I'll admit, sometimes I myself want to withdraw and become uninvolved, but that's exactly what Satan wants. This week, we encourage you to check up on each other, pray for one another, and be the Church that God has called you to be.

We will be in 2 Corinthians 6 today. If you become a Christian, praise God for that!!! But don’t think for a second that life will all be sunshine and roses. Paul warns us that part of being a Christian means being in uncomfortable situations. You might be insulted, physically assaulted, stolen from, cut off in traffic, or wronged in some other way. Our natural instinct is to retaliate, seek revenge, or get even. But Jesus teaches us to turn the other cheek, forgive graciously, and leave the door open for the opportunity for the Gospel to be presented. It’s not going to be easy, you may be persecuted, or you may even be killed, but what an honor it would be to suffer and die for our Savior.

We will be in Colossians 2 today. As Christians, we grow in faith and walk through life only to lose focus. Sometimes we drift off in our faith, only to try and double down by trying to be holy. This takes the form of becoming busy in the church, or perhaps scheduled prayer and Bible reading, and trying to follow every commandment that God has given us. But this isn’t what brings us closer to God. He just wants our heart of worship. Changing our actions won’t change our hearts, but if we allow God to change our hearts, then changes in our actions will manifest. May your relationship with Jesus be the focus this week.

We will be in 2 Timothy 4 today. As Christians, we were given 2 main commandments. Share the Gospel, and disciple one another. Both of these often become hindered when we let fear get in the way. For us, it’s usually fear of how others view us, but for Timothy, it was the fear of being killed. This was Paul's encouragement not just to Timothy, but to every Christian that would come after him. God has given us everything we need to be capable of living the life He's called us to, so we don’t have to be afraid of what might happen when we are obedient. Ultimately, we will all give an account of how obedient we were, and our fear of God’s judgement should be greater than fear of man’s judgement.

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 6 again today to conclude the previous message. Where has our faith gone? It appears to have been lost in the complacency of everyday life. The problem isn't the people around us. Our enemy is the demons and Satan himself, and we aren't putting on the armor of God to defend against it. And because of that, it's no wonder that the Church is struggling. This year, we want to encourage you to put on that armor daily to defend against the enemy, and hold fast to the faith in Jesus that makes this life possible.

We will be in Ephesians 6 today. Humans are selfish, it’s our fallen nature. The problem is, we often care more about ourselves than others. In fact, we tend to care more about what people think about us than care about what they’re going through. This leads to us believing that other humans are the enemy, when in fact the real enemy is Satan. As we go into a new year, let’s examine our hearts for opportunities to care more for others.

We will be in Luke 2 today. When you see nativity scenes, what comes to mind? Oftentimes we picture a pretty looking stable, hay everywhere, and a “manger” that looks like a comfortable cradle. In reality, there was probably animal feces all over the place, the smell was probably horrendous, and there were probably bits of animal feed still in that manger (which is basically a feeding trough). He was born into muck, our muck. He lived a rough life, and died a horrible death. In the end, He was glorified when he came back to life, and He did all this so that we could receive salvation. This Christmas, when you look at a nativity scene, remember what it was that He went through so that we could be here today.

We will be in Ephesians 4 and John 8 today. The concept of “relative truth” is a popular one these days. One of those “truths” is not believing that God isn’t real, and therefore believing that they won’t stand face to face with Him one day. Well, the problem with that is regardless of what you believe, the truth is absolute and you will stand before God whether or not you choose to believe it. But this truth that we have needs to be used carefully. We need to be sharing the truth in a way that is productive to the Gospel, and not in a way that builds it for the sake of building it. And that is by sharing the truth in love.

We will be in Romans 7 and 8 today. Our natural desire is to sin. The reason? Sin is fun. You read that right, sin is fun to commit, otherwise it wouldn’t be a problem. We as Christians have Jesus, but we are just as capable of committing sin as those without Christ. Jesus pulled the ultimate reverse uno card, and became the sinners that we are. So when we get drunk, Jesus becomes a drunkard. When we badmouth others, Jesus becomes a badmouth. He took the weight of the world’s sins upon himself, just so that we can be free from it. So if you’re facing temptation, remember what it was that Jesus went through, and experience freedom.

We will be in Colossians 2 today. Continuing with the theme of last week’s message, we are to be people that rejoice in good times and bad. But not only that, but we should also be grateful. Car breaks down? Be grateful to God. Health issue? Be grateful to God. Lose your job? Again, be grateful to God. It sounds counterintuitive, but God knows more than we do, and if we give God our gratitude in all circumstances, then we will be able to serve Him with our time, tithe, and talents, and He will provide for us.

We will be in Philippians 4 today. We tend to have more good experiences than bad experiences. So then why do we focus so much on the negative? Life is gonna suck sometimes, but as Christians, we can't just pick and choose to show Jesus or praise God when it's convenient for us. All He expects is to do, is to be faithful and follow His commands, and He will take care of everything else.

We will be in 2 Corinthians 12 today. A lot of people like to brag about themselves, whether it be from their accomplishments, talents, or physical attributes. But our life before we knew Jesus is nothing to brag about. Paul would only boast about how Jesus transformed his life, and even then he only boasted about his weaknesses. God is going to do some pretty amazing things in our lives, and we should give credit where credit is due.

We will be in Ephesians 4 today. In 100 years, what things will be important to you? Probably not material things because you will likely be dead by then. So then why do we live our lives only for things that won't benefit us here on earth? God has given us spiritual gifts (some have multiple), and these gifts have eternal impacts not just for us but for others. This world is getting worse, but God has called us to do our part and to share the hope that is in Jesus.

We will be in Proverbs 4 today. There’s so much knowledge in the world, but not much of it is wisdom. What’s the difference? To give an example, knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad. If we seek after the knowledge of the world (gnosticism), that won’t have any use in our Christian lives. Only wisdom comes from God, and by reading His word, we can receive wisdom. And when we read His word and have it on our lips, we will be better equipped when the world challenges us.

We will be in Matthew 7 today. What does it mean to judge someone? It's more than just deciding if someone did something right or wrong. We often judge based on appearance, how someone talks, or even where someone lives. And this judgement influences more than just how we treat them, but also whether or not we share the Gospel with them. It's easy to talk about Jesus in church, but if you badmouth your trans coworker, then you've just shut down an opportunity for them to hear the Gospel. Follow Christ’s example and treat others how you would like to be treated.

We will be in Philippians 1 today. Everyone we interact with has some type of impact on the Gospel. Sometimes we share Jesus, sometimes we say or do things that push people away from Jesus, but most of the time we are passive in our daily interactions that may or may not help. We are to be people who are ready to show Jesus whenever the call happens. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, and some days it will be difficult, but it's on those difficult days that we need that faith in Jesus because the world depends on it.

We will be in James 3 today. The tongue is a powerful and dangerous thing. It's one of the smallest parts of the body, yet it's one of the most powerful. Aside from the physical strength, it has the ability to both bless and curse. And just like a small ember can cause a forest fire, the tongue can sew seeds of destruction. It's not always about what we say, but how we say it, and if we aren't allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our tongue, people will get hurt.

We will be in Matthew 22 today after a short message for the kids. What is the greatest commandment? Jesus answered the Pharisees that we are to love the Lord God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and the second (equally important) is to love our neighbor as ourselves. But what if we don’t love ourselves? Then how can we love our neighbor? Sure we are to be humble, but not to the point of self hatred. Depression is real, and the enemy uses it to cripple us from loving others. But God is love. If you’re struggling today, come to the Father who will show you how to love, and then share that love with others.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 13 and Revelation 2 today. What is love? If you ask the world, they will give you a totally different definition. The biblical definition is unconditional. Love is an action, something that we are commanded to do. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of love by giving His life for our salvation. The world would tell us not to love those who hurt us, and place many conditions as to how and when to love. In revelation, God called out a specific church on this, and many churches have fallen into the same trap. Without love, we are just wasting our time. How are you loving one another?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 Timothy today. As Christians, we are called to live to a standard for the benefit of the Church. Everyone struggles with something, whether it be pride, drunkenness, porn addiction, gambling, or anything that puts a barrier between you and God. And if you're not struggling, then that means you're content with living with a particular sin. It doesn't mean you have to be perfect, because you can't be, but God expects us to be obedient. How can you struggle better this week?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 19 today. Zaccheus was a tax collector, and had stolen money from the people (similar to how the IRS steals from us daily). Understandably, the people were upset with this guy, and didn’t want Jesus spending time with him. But people like Zaccheus need Jesus just as much as you and I do. Now Zaccheus sought out Jesus, but how often are we seeking out people like him to share the Gospel? The Church is made up of broken individuals that needed to hear the Gospel at some point. So, when was the last time you shared the Gospel?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 10 and Ephesians 4 today. This sermon includes our ‘theme” verse, which we post weekly in the notes. Hebrews 10:24 is the “why” behind what we do. If we can't build one another up, or even show up, how can we possibly share the Gospel with the world? Sure, many try to do it alone, but our strength is in Christ, which is the cornerstone of the Church. By neglecting the Church, we set ourselves up for a difficult life in Christ. If you don't have a church home, my encouragement is that you seek one close to you that teaches the Gospel accurately. And if you live near Hillsboro, MO, we would be happy to welcome you through our doors.

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 1 today. Do you know what God knows? Of course not. But at the same time, we live our lives, trying to do this according to our knowledge, and we're getting nowhere. God prepared everything for us before the earth was even created. He knows everything about us, and He wants us to be part of something greater, and it starts with us giving Him credit and being obedient. Yield to Him, and watch what He can do in your life, and I can guarantee it will be a lot more than what we can do on our own.

We will be in Matthew 23 today.
The story of the Pharisees is a great example of how not to approach Christianity. They liked to make up rules, and go beyond what God asked them to. But they were doing it for the wrong reasons. A lot of churches today fall into the same habit of trying to do things their own way instead of the way God intended, and the motivation is often selfishly driven. So, are you living to glorify God, or yourself?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 3 today. What does baptism have to do with men and women's roles? Well, a lot actually. Our roles as men and women allow us to live in harmony with one another, and baptism by the holy Spirit cleanses us so that we may live a godly life. Baptism is an outward act of faith, demonstrating what Jesus did for us, and therefore, the way we act towards one another should be a reflection of this. When we come to Christ, and step forward in believer's baptism, there should be a transformation in our lives.

We will be in 2 Peter 1 and 2 today. Information is everywhere. We live in a world where stories and claims can be shared all over the world in seconds. You can find “trends”, “ways of life”, and “new truths” all over social media. But without understanding the scripture, and the context of the scriptures, this is dangerous. If anyone is claiming that there is another way to Heaven other than Jesus, they are lying. The enemy will do whatever he can to distort the Gospel message, and as believers, we must defend the truth from false prophets, and that starts by first knowing the truth.

We will be in Matthew 28 today, specifically the last part. If you've listened to the very end of the podcast, I quote this verse at the end of each episode. This is the great commission, the most important thing that Jesus commanded us to do, yet we've lost sight of it. If you're a believer in Jesus, your life interactions should reflect this, and more people should be impacted. But today's society suggests the opposite. This message is an encouragement to listen to the calling of the great commission, and start living like Jesus called us to.

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Titus 3 today. What did Paul mean when he instructed Titus to be “subject to authority”? Well God established the Church, Marriage, and Government for the same structural reasons. To be subject to authority doesn’t necessarily mean agreeing with the worldly views of career politicians, but being actively involved, through voting and pushing for change. In the same way, we should be active in the Church, and active in our families.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 1 today. Have you ever worked on a group project where everyone had a different opinion on how to reach the same goal? Christianity is the same way. Most denominations aren't necessarily a bad thing if the end goal is to share the Gospel, and the Gospel message is the same. However, when personal beliefs start getting preached as doctrine, that's when divisions happen. The enemy wants the church to be divided on the Gospel and salvation, because that's how nothing gets done. It's important that we are united in Christ as one body, even if we have different ideas on how the Gospel is to be preached.

We will be in Romans 12 this week as Pastor Jim Richmond preaches. What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? Before Christ, the head of each household would offer a spotless lamb to the priest on the day of atonement to be sacrificed. This lamb would often be raised specifically for this purpose. As Christians, we are called to be transformed and raised just as the Israelites would raise the spotless lamb. The only difference is that we are sacrificing our sinful life because Christ gave up His.

We will be in Joshua 24 today. Towards the end of Joshua's life, the Israelites were very unfaithful, and without a strong, faithful leader to keep them accountable, Joshua didn't have a lot of hope for them staying faithful (and he was right). We are no different than the Israelites, following after our own strengths in life, and only turning to God as a last resort. Even though God forgives our sins, they still have real life consequences. When we act like the Israelites did, following after other gods, don't be surprised when trouble comes your way. Repent, turn back to Jesus, and see how He can change your life.

We will be in Ephesians 4 today. Believers, how are you living your life today? Are you just living similar to how the world is, only focusing on yourself, or are you living with a purpose? If God called you for something, and you're not doing what He asked, then you're just wasting your time. This week, I want to encourage you to live a purpose filled life, instead of living how everyone else is.

We will be in 1 Peter 4 today. To what extent have you been hospitable lately? People used to prepare for visitors to come over and welcome them with open arms. Today most people dread getting a knock on their door, and have become very trustworthy of others. But how does this benefit the kingdom? If we only keep to ourselves instead of investing in our community, then the strength of the Church is weakened. In this passage, Peter encourages the church to love one another and show hospitality, even to the point that it causes suffering rather than pursuing the things that have no part in the Kingdom of God.

We will be in 2 Corinthians 3 and 4 today. What is it that allows the Church to function? Faithful individuals. A lot of Christians fear being persecuted, and tend to cave under the pressures of the world. But Jesus said we will be persecuted if we live the life Jesus did. We all have a responsibility to be active in ministry, and this week, we encourage you to seek God, and ask where He wants you to serve. The end result will be eternal salvation for others.

We will be in Colossians 1 today. The church today would not exist without individuals who were willing to serve the Lord and do so gladly. But people often give their time, minds, and hearts to other things in life, and fail to give them to God. Jesus Christ deserves our heart, mind, and dedication, and we can never find anything that has sacrificed more for us than God has. Where are you placing your priorities?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 6 today. When we do things, who is it that primarily benefits? Most often we do things just for ourselves, even things that are considered selfless. Giving to the poor, donating your time and talent, or even praying should be done from a position of humility, otherwise Jesus doesn't get exalted. Our reward is waiting for us in Heaven when we serve with humility, but patting ourselves on the back gains no heavenly reward.

We will be in Matthew 10 today. On a daily basis, we fight a battle between the flesh and the spirit. Being a Christian today is becoming less and less popular, and in some circumstances, there are real life consequences. Your relationship with Jesus may cost you friends, a job, your reputation, or in some areas of the world, your life. But there is one who we should fear more than that. The worst the world can do to us is kill us, but they have no control over our eternity, whereas God has authority over body and spirit. Don’t fear the reaper (death), fear the Creator.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 4 today. What does it mean to be a steward? A steward is someone who takes care of something through acts of service. We have been called to be stewards of Christ while we wait to meet Him face to face. And when we do, either God will say “you are forgiven”, or He will say “well done, my good and faithful servant. The impact we have on the Church depends on how faithful of a steward we are.

We will be in Galatians 5 this week. Christ has given us freedom from sin, but the purpose of that freedom is for the benefit of others. If we are only focusing on ourselves, then who is benefiting? We live in a world that is self-serving, being enslaved to our desires. But through Christ, we are truly free to live a life that can bless others.

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in several passages this morning as Pastor Doug preaches again this morning. The Bible tells us that we should pray so that we may receive. But why don’t we always get what we pray for? There may be several reasons. It could be that you don’t ask to begin with, you may be praying with the wrong intention, or perhaps God has a better option for you. Prayer life is an important part of having a relationship with Jesus, and the more we pray, the more we can understand what it is that we truly need. Spend some time with the Father this week, and if your intentions are good, you will be surprised at what prayers God will answer.

We will be in several passages this morning as Pastor Doug preaches again this morning. Continuing with last week’s message, the Church has a responsibility. Statistically, only 20% of the people in the church are working with their spiritual gifts. If your heart is only functioning at 20%, it won’t last very long. It’s only by God’s grace that we have been able to function in this capacity, but we still have a responsibility to be faithful.

We will be in several passages this morning as Pastor Doug preaches. Why is the church struggling? Jesus warned Peter and the other apostles that it would be a rough start once He left for Heaven. Many would take off and scatter under fear of persecution. But others, including Peter, stood faithful to the great commission so that the Church would grow and people would be saved. If you have received Christ, God has called you in some capacity to serve the church. We might not all be teachers or preachers, but we are all to support one another.

We will be in Galatians 1 today. This week, Pastor Keith was out this week, and so I, Zac Link, have a message for you instead. The way we live our lives presents a living Gospel. I’ve Identified 3 types of Christians that present a false Gospel to the world. The extremist, the bystander, and the compromiser. Each one damages the Gospel message in some way that prevents the world from hearing the truth. As Christians, the way we live our lives should be like the way Jesus did. What kind of Gospel are you presenting?
Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 6 today. After Jesus had fed over 5,000 men using a boy's lunch, some of His disciples only had food in their mind. Jesus' point wasn't to be fed physically, but spiritually. This is why they were really confused when Jesus started talking about eating His body and drinking His blood. Jesus wasn't advocating cannibalism, He was speaking metaphorically, and if we want to be imitators of Christ, we must eat His body and drink HIs blood in communion.

We will continue in Mark 4 today. Last week we talked about sowing seeds for the purpose of people hearing the Gospel. The result of sowing those seeds changes lives, sparks movements, and builds up the church. But it the farmer doesn't sow those seeds, how can he expect a harvest? Are you expecting a harvest by sowing seeds, or by doing nothing?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Mark 4 today. In this chapter, Jesus gives the parable of the sower and the seed. Our success depends on where we sow the seeds. Too often, we sow our seeds in the safe walls of the church, and barely yield anything. Jesus wants us to sow further than that, because that will yield much more, even if it's only 30 fold.

We will continue in Mark 3 today. After choosing his disciples, the Pharisees were trying to discredit Jesus by saying that He has a demon. But Jesus quickly retorted that Satan doesn't cast himself out. What Jesus does is through the power of God, and because of that, each of us has a purpose for His plan. Your exact purpose might be something small in your community, or something that has worldwide implications. Regardless, your purpose is important for the Gospel.

We will be in Mark 3 today with a quick recap of last week. Is it really that hard to do good to people? The Pharisees were making a big deal about Jesus healing on the sabbath (which was completely lawful), because it violated their set of rules. Since when is it wrong to do good to others? This world is cold, and the last thing it needs is cold hearted Christians keeping to themselves because they don’t want to upset people, or they want to maintain the status quo. Jesus commanded us to love one another, and an easy way to do that is by doing good to one another.

We will finish up Mark 2 today. The Pharisees were famous for taking the Law that God gave to Moses and the Israelites, and turning it into something that God never intended. One example is when the Pharisees (who weren’t fair, you see), hassled the apostles for picking grain on the Sabbath because they were hungry. God didn’t give us the law to burden us or punish us, but to free us from the burden of sin. We need the Sabbath so that we’re not stuck working 7 days a week. So even though Chic-Fil-A is closed on Sunday, you can still make a sandwich without feeling guilty. When the law is applied wrong, we end up living a miserable life constantly worrying about sin. But when it’s applied correctly, that’s when redemption and healing can happen.

We continue in Mark 1 today as well as chapter 2. Jesus stirred up quite a bit of controversy in His ministry. The Pharisees were looking for a Messiah that would enforce rules, overthrow governments, and cast judgment. Jesus did the opposite by healing the sick, forgiving sin, hanging out with the lowest of low, and breaking traditions created by man. Jesus doesn't want a religious system, He wants a relationship. He doesn't desire traditions, He desires faith. The new way of life is not compatible with the old way.

We will be in Mark 1 today. This Gospel was unique in that it was written by a boy that was closely associated with the apostles years later. Because of this, chapter 1 is filled with several quick stories. One of the first stories after his baptism is that of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness. God allowed this so that He could prepare Jesus for ministry. We face struggles and temptations everyday, and if you aren’t struggling with something, are you even living your life for Jesus?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Galatians 6 today. For you long time listeners, this will be a familiar passage, but it's an important one. Why should we do good to one another? If everyone just keeps to themselves, they might be fine, but then there's no relationship and the body of Christ becomes weak. This is why we are to bear one another's burdens in addition to our own, so that we stay humble and the body is strengthened. Are you bearing other's burdens? And if so, are you allowing others to bear your own burdens? We weren't meant to go it alone.

We will be in Luke 16 and 17 today. What is a stumbling block? For Christians, a stumbling block is something that builds barriers between Jesus and others. If we are selfishly motivated, we become stumbling blocks. In order to not become a stumbling block, we must stop living for ourselves and start living for Him by forgiving others without condition. We will be taken advantage of, but guess what; so was Jesus. Rather than build up these barriers, let’s start tearing down barriers so that others can reach Jesus. After all, if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 today. God has given us each one or more spiritual gifts. Each of these gifts has a purpose, and are often misunderstood. Gifts are for the purpose of reaching the lost and discipling the saved. Just as each body part has a different purpose for supporting the rest of the body, so do our individual gifts have an important purpose for the body of Christ.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Zaccheus was a wee little man, but was willing to go to great lengths to see Jesus. He knew he had to change his life after defrauding people, but it took a sycamore tree to get him noticed. There are people in this world that are in desperate need of Jesus, but don’t know where to begin, or how to see Jesus. That’s why we should be the metaphorical sycamore tree for those in need of Jesus.

We will be in Philippians 4 today. When things are going tough, it’s easy to get discouraged. As a matter of fact, this is the normal human response. Paul faced very difficult circumstances, many of which we will never go through, but his positive reaction was what made all the difference. As Christians, we should have a positive attitude because God’s plan is perfect, and He knows what is best for us. Sure, in the moment this is easier said than done, but this is what we should strive for. What is your default reaction when things go bad?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Merry Christmas everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 2 this week. What do we make Christmas about? For many of us, we make it about giving gifts, making sure the right lights are up, getting the Christmas tree just perfect, making meal plans, and spending time with family we hardly ever see. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but if we make it all about that instead of about celebrating the birth of Christ, that's a problem. The one time Jesus got mad is when people were conducting business in God's house. Our traditions aren't necessarily bad in the way that conducting business isn't necessarily bad, but when it replaces worship, that crosses the line. What are you making Christmas about this year?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Merry Christmas everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. Last week, we talked about John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ. This week, Doug will be preaching from Luke 1, which gives us the backstory of John’s parents and the role God had for them. These incredible stories were told to share the amazing things God did to prepare the way for Christ. Regardless of how these stories are told, Jesus is the most important part, not just in these stories, but in our stories as well.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in several new testament passages today. John the Baptist was an interesting man to say the least. In humility, he ate locusts and wild honey in the wilderness, yet he was called to be the one to prepare the way for Christ. He lived this way to avoid any distractions and stay focused on the mission that he was called to. The path to salvation is straight and narrow, and there's plenty of detours in life that pull us away from the direction that God is leading us.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will continue in Hebrews 13 today. A common question is why does God want us here? Are we just supposed to follow the law for the sake of righteousness? No, because that doesn't benefit anyone. Following the law doesn't bring about suffering, sharing the Gospel does, and we were called to suffer. Staying righteous inside the church is the safe option, but then how do the lost outside find salvation? Embrace the suffering and be faithful to what He has called you to be.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be Hebrews 13 today. Repentance is a difficult subject to talk about, but it's a fundamental part of Christianity. Paul (or whoever the author of Hebrews is) outlines several key things that we should be doing. It's not about seeking self righteousness, but about being like Christ. We are part of the body of Christ, and have a responsibility to seek and save the lost. Without repentance, we are effectively useless. There will come a time where our actions and works will be judged, but judgment will be much greater for the lost.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in several passages of scripture this morning, centered around a theme of faith. Jesus said that the faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain. When we place our trust in Jesus, our faith can start off that size. But our faith isn’t supposed to stay that size. A mustard seed grows into an enormous tree when planted and watered properly in good soil. Our faith should be like that seed, continuously growing. What does your faith look like?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 3 and Matthew 7 today. When you think of Jesus as a man, you might remember that he was a carpenter. But why? Because his earthly dad (Joseph) was a carpenter? Well when you think about it, our Heavenly father was a carpenter, and a master builder of all creation. Jesus became the chief cornerstone upon which the kingdom was built on, and it's up to us to continue to build upon his principles. Otherwise, it would not stand. How have you built upon the foundation of Jesus?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Mark 9 today. This episode has a short message specifically for the kids, with the main message for the adults. Our children are a vital part of God’s kingdom, and Jesus has a special message and warning about children. Sometimes, kids are hard to love. They’re messy, at times annoying, immature, and they break things. But they are children and the future of this world, and hindering them from receiving the Gospel is a terrible thing in the eyes of God. Rather than cast the children aside, we need to invest in them, and love on them. After all, we are all children in the eyes of God.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Isaiah 59 today. We have been separated from God through our sin under the influence of the demons that we discussed in this series. Even though God has provided a path of salvation through Jesus, we are still expected to be repentant, and that doesn't mean it's going to be a comfortable life. If life is good, you're probably not doing something right. Face the demons, repent, and be reconciled with God.

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Genesis 2 and 3 today. It was in the garden of Eden that God placed man, and it was in that same garden that Satan tried to separate us from God. And for a while, he succeeded. Satan may win many battles, but he's lost the war, as God provided a way to be reunited with man, and that was accomplished through Jesus. Because of this, those that placed their trust in Jesus will get to have an eternity without sin. God still expects us to be obedient on Earth in the meantime, for the sake of His glory, so our daily battle continues.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 12 today. Jesus spoke about several issues with the pharisees, but it all stems from the evil spirits that influence us on a daily basis. The words we say, and the things we do, has everything to do with the demons that we fight. If we're motivated by our selfish interests, then we're just letting the demons win. But if our focus is on Jesus, there's not a single demon that wants that fight. This all goes back to putting on the armor of God (see our intro episode). Stay faithful.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Daniel 3 today. This particular story isn’t about a particular demon that has a name, but about the gods that King Nebuchadnezzar served. They represent the selfish pride of the human heart, and the challenges that we face on a daily basis. Shadrach, Meschach, and Abed-nego (aka, Rack, Shack, and Benny) faced a huge dilemma because they refused to worship the golden image that the king had put up, but even if God chose not to save them, they were faithful enough to refuse to worship the idol. Our faithfulness should not be contingent on what God can do for us, because His grace through the blood of Jesus was sufficient for all we need.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Jeremiah 7 today. Baal was the top god over the other gods, and in Greek, he's the same as Zeus. Translated, his name means lord, which means he's an impostor because only Jesus is Lord. He represents all the things that God doesn't want us to do. God is very jealous, and despises Christians that follow after their own desires, only to show back up on Sunday and pretend to give praise. Christians, who are you really following? Non believers, who do you desire to follow?

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be taking a short break from our spiritual warfare series, and will be in Hebrews 13 today. Homecoming is an interesting time. Even though we are celebrating 125 years of highland being established as a church, this is not our home. God may have called many to serve here at highland, but our focus should be on the kingdom of God in heaven. Don't get hung up on a particular church for the sake of its name or the people, but be obedient to where God calls you for the sake of the kingdom.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in several old testament passages today discussing the demon Asherah. Historically, she is the goddess of fertility, but in reality, she is a demon of sexual promiscuity and immorality. We all get these thoughts and temptations, and this isn't exclusive to sexual struggles, but applies to all sins. The question is how are you going to respond to it? We can't fight these demons by ourselves, we need God in all circumstances.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Galatians 5 today. This week, we will be discussing the demon Legion, which means not just 1 demon but many. He comes in many forms including drug addiction, porn, alcohol, and many other things that get into the way of our relationship with God. Our only hope against these demons is the freedom we have in Jesus. Not the freedom to sin without consequences, but the freedom from sin that enslaves is. If you're struggling with something, anything, come to Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 John 5 today. This week, we will be discussing the demon Molech, the demon of child sacrifice. You may not think that is a problem in today’s society, but it is very much so prevalent in the form of abortion. Our job as Christians isn't to try to stop those demons by force, but by healing and preventing the damage that they do. We weren't called to burn down abortion clinics, or shame those who have had abortions in the past. We were called, however, to love on those who have made difficult decisions in the past, and counsel those who are in need. Let God do the real fighting for us, and let us fight by showing the love of Jesus to all.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 6 and 2 Corinthians 10 today. This is part 1 of a sermon series on spiritual warfare, and we will be discussing the demons that we are at war with. To engage in battle, we first must have the holy spirit, and if you haven’t received Jesus, today is the day of salvation. We must put on the full armor of God, and know we are at war. Jesus brings us peace, but he also brings us purpose, and when we are fighting for God, there is peace within that purpose. Be ready.
Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 8 today. We have been given liberty in Christ, and as a result, we know that several actions are not sinful in the eyes of God. However, that doesn’t mean that others won’t be convicted or tempted, so we must be cautious of how we behave in front of others. We may not have to worry about losing our salvation, but if we are too careless, we could end up preventing others from receiving Christ, or damaging our relationship with other christians.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. This week, Pastor Doug will be preaching in Genesis 41-48. When we left off, Joseph had been sold into slavery and things were looking pretty bad for him. But God was faithful, and He continued to gift Joseph with dreams that would not only elevate his own circumstances, but save the lives of his family as well. Things may be hard in the moment, but God has a perfect plan, and these difficult moments pass. Remain faithful to God, because He will always be faithful to us.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. This week, Pastor Doug will be preaching in Genesis 37-41. Joseph was blessed with the gift of dreams and dream interpretations. These dreams come directly from God, and in the case of his brothers, they hated the dream so much that they made his life miserable. Yet God still used Joseph for His will and blessed him in the end through the promises in dreams. We may not always like what God has to say to us, or agree with His will, but we shouldn’t hate the one that delivers the message. If you happen to be the messenger, know that God wants what is best for you.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Timothy 6 today. The way we prepare ourselves each day depends largely on the circumstances we expect to face. If you are hunting small game, you would want to wear camo, and bring a rifle of some sort with extra ammo. If you are going to war, however, you should equip a helmet, bullet proof vest, a lot more ammunition, as well as communication equipment and anything that can keep you alive. The same is true with spiritual warfare, and to fight the good fight, we must put on the full armor of God before challenging Satan.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 9 today. We have the freedom in Christ to engage with the culture, but we have a responsibility to do so in a way that is beneficial to the Gospel. If we keep to ourselves, the lost won’t receive Christ. And if we engage with culture in a way that doesn’t promote Christ, how are we different from the non-believers? The culture engages us all the time, and every choice we make has an impact on the Gospel.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 12 today. We all have a last, and have struggled with sin in one form or another. And the more we know and understand God's word, the more we can understand how Satan uses his tactics to cause us to stumble. When we see the mistakes in our past, and compare them to the Truth of God, then it becomes clear what the difference is between good and evil.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 John today. The Truth is talked about a lot in scripture, most often in a positive way. It’s only when it gets twisted into “someone else’s truth” or “relative truth” that it costs lives. We are to protect and share the Truth so that others can receive Christ. Otherwise, people will get some other twisted version of the truth, and that will have eternal consequences.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Titus 1 and 2 today. Men, we have 3 basic responsibilities. Protect, provide, and procreate. Too often we spend too much time on one of these such as providing, that we fail to do what's best for others and only what's best for ourselves. We are to speak the things that are fitting for sound doctrine, not prioritizing our own needs, but the needs of others. This world needs Jesus, and it's our responsibility to be obedient in sharing Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 8 today. The Pharisees were ready to stone a woman caught in adultery when Jesus wrote in the dirt. It's likely Jesus was writing their sins on the ground. With the sins we have committed, we all deserve to be stoned to death, but Jesus refused to condemn her. Jesus is the light, and our light should be shining, and not hiding in a corner. Rather than condemning, we should be sharing the light of Christ. Where is your light shining?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 5 today. Time is running out. Life is too short to be hurtful to others. Real people are struggling in this world, and we need to make the most of our time to help them. We have become distracted, and the world isn't hearing the Gospel message. Are you making the most of the little amount of time God has given you?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Joshua 24. Everyone has choices to make. If we choose to follow God, but then make choices to sin, then we chose to disobey God. We can say we will choose to follow God all we want, but our actions will be a witness to our intentions. These choices have eternal consequences, because when we choose not to share the Gospel, people won't receive Christ. Are your choices more than lip service?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 12 today. The Bible teaches us that it's not a sin to have possessions, but it is a sin to be greedy. When we obsess over having the nicest things, or try to obtain things that have no benefit to our lives or the Kingdom, we're taking time and energy away from producing fruits of the spirit. Are you investing in the eternal, or are you investing in the temporal?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Proverbs 31 today. In celebration of Mother's Day, we are going over what the Bible says about women. You are special, and were created with amazing qualities. You are strong and caring, and made to provide for your children. You were made to be generous to the needy, and not afraid of hardship. The world is trying to eliminate and invalidate these God given qualities. Know who God made you to be, and be obedient to Him until Christ returns.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 15 today. God has given each one of us a calling and has appointed us to bear fruit. Our individual calling may be different, but the mission is the same; to seek and save the lost. Too many Christians are only looking out for themselves and their own salvation, but as a friend of Jesus, He wants that Gospel message shared with the world instead of us playing around with the world.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 6 today. This is a message of encouragement for better things. The hope that is in Christ is an anchor. We may drift off course a bit in the chaos of life to the point where we become sluggish Christians. But once we get so far, that anchor chain pulls us back and reminds us that we are never separated from Christ. He loves you and has a plan for you.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 10 today. If you'll notice, I include these verses in the description every week for a reason. The purpose of our online video and podcast series is to reach those that need to hear the Gospel, and for those who are unable to attend a particular service. This is not a replacement for church gatherings, and Hebrews is clear on that. Christians are meant to be social, and we rely on one another for support. No matter what part of the body of Christ you are, you are important. If you are a church member, this is an encouragement to be active. If you haven't been to church in a while or have never been, pray about finding a church, even if it isn't Highland.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in John 19 today. Every Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, though we should be celebrating this more often. Christ’s resurrection means something different to each of us. Some feel guilt over their sins causing Christ to suffer (even though He gave his life willingly), others take it for granted. In Mark 16, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were amazed (meaning they were fixated on the miracle, instead of continuing with the mission). This is why the angel said “do not be amazed”, because we then miss where Jesus wants us to be. What does the resurrection mean to you?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 7 today. The law of the Bible is often misunderstood among Christians, and there's a fine line between legalism and liberality. God established the law to show that sin exists, but we are incapable of keeping the law. Jesus lived the life that He did to keep the law because we couldn't, so that now we have grace. The law doesn't need to be kept by us for salvation, but there are other benefits of following the law.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 4 today. Paul lays out some practical reasons why we should be walking away from a life of sin, and instead walk in a way that Jesus did. Our old self is corrupt, and holds us back often leading to trouble. And in our old life, there is no benefit for others. Our actions instead should be pleasing to God and helpful towards others who are in need. In our troubles, we should still be showing Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 15 today. When was the last time you celebrated? By that, I don't mean observing holidays or attending church for the sake of tradition or obligation, but really celebrate what Jesus accomplished for us? We should be excited to the point that we are sharing this with everyone we meet, so that they too can celebrate the gift of salvation. Are you celebrating?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 8 today. The message this week is an encouraging one. We have liberties in Christ, which means that we are permitted to do things that the law would forbid. However, the choices that we make will have an impact on our lives, good or bad. We are going to struggle and suffer, but we have liberty to decide whether we struggle and suffer because of sin, or because of Christ. Either way, there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ, but one is way more valuable than the other.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Psalm 46 today. This message is one of encouragement. Life’s circumstances can be difficult, but God is on our side. Stay focused on God and on the eternal things, and He will take care of the rest.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will continue in Romans 12 today. We have many members of the body of Christ, and not everyone shares the exact same gifts and beliefs. Because of this, some people have gone as far as attacking other members, and this contributes nothing to the Gospel. In spite of our differences, we should be encouraging one another, and if someone persecutes you, we are to bless them instead of returning curses. This isn’t the easiest to do when in the moment, but we should be willing to take a verbal punch for the sake of others hearing the Gospel message.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 12 today. When you use something or leave a place, you have 3 choices. You can leave it worse than you found it, the same as you found it, or better than you found it. As Christians, our lives are to be a living sacrifice, not conforming to this world. This means that when we leave this world, our actions should have an impact on others so that they hear the Gospel regardless of the pressures of the outside world.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 2 today. “It is what it is”. It’s a popular phrase used today, but how are we really using it? At its heart, it means to accept the circumstances as they are, and to trust God’s plan, regardless of how we feel. We are going to suffer in this life, and if we are only concerned about suffering or making sure we are comfortable, then we aren’t looking out for the interests of others. As Christians, we are to be obedient to the point of suffering, so that the lost will be saved.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may grace, mercy, and peace be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 Timothy 1 today. Timothy had a lot to be afraid of in the early Church, with the persecution coming from the Romans. This letter to Timothy is an encouragement not only to him, but to us as well. We are reminded to kindle afresh the gifts that God has given us, and that can only be done through church community. If your flame isn’t burning very hot for Jesus, perhaps it’s time to rekindle with the church to burn hot again.

We will be in 2 Corinthians 4 today. There is a right way and a wrong way to share the Gospel. The wrong way is by sharing it through the lens of judgment. The right way is by first renouncing our shameful actions, i.e. sins that would create a barrier, and then sharing the truth in a manner that meets the individual where they are at. God wants us to be faithful in sharing the Gospel, but it has to be done in the right way.

We will be in 1 Corinthians today. This chapter is commonly known as the love chapter, but the idea of love in the mission is very important. Since love never fails, it is something that comes from God. This is why when we share the Gospel message, we are to do so in love and compassion. How are you showing love this week?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Like 5 today. Simon was instructed to cast his net into deep water, and gave an excuse not to, yet the result was catching more fish. In life, when we are called to cast a net to fish for men, are we making the excuse that we already went there, or are we giving the effort in obedience? A Christian life isn't easy, but God is faithful to provide results.

We will be in Lamentations 3 today. The prophet Jeremiah laments about the hardships that he is going through, and has fallen into a state of hopelessness. But that state was temporary after remembering God's promises. We may complain about our circumstances, but the truth is, He cares. This past year may have been hard, but as Christians, we will suffer hardships for His sake. 2023 might even be worse for some, but don't forget the promises that God has made.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Merry Christmas everyone, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill to men! We will be looking at Isaiah 9 today. Today, we are celebrating the fulfillment of prophecy that changed the world for all of mankind. Even though this world is getting worse and worse, the promise that was fulfilled through Jesus gives us peace and hope that we will be restored with the Father in Heaven. Remember His promises this Christmas season.

We will continue in Ephesians 6 today. Having spiritual armor doesn't mean we won't be attacked, but it does us no good if we don't put on all the pieces. If we walk out with just the sword, we leave our heart and head exposed. If we just put on the breastplate and helmet, we can't fight back. What pieces of armor are you missing each day?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will continue in Ephesians 6 today. Our ultimate instruction is to stand firm in our faith by putting on the full armor of God. Our enemy is not the people of this world, but Satan who is manipulating them and doing everything he can to trip us up from the mission. So when you go out into the world, are you equipped to deal with him?
Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 6 today. Have you ever wished that life came with instructions just like that furniture you bought from IKEA? Well it actually does, and if you don't read the instructions, life naturally becomes difficult, and can fall apart like that new coffee table. God provides us instructions on our relationship with our children, with our spouse, and even in the workplace. These instructions provide structure to our lives that shape the future of the Church.

We will be in Galatians 5 and 6 today. As Christians, we have an I problem. A lot of our actions are usually done out of selfish reasons whether it be for personal gain, welfare, or pride. Paul's letter to the Galatians calls us to first examine ourselves so that we would have reason to boast. Are your actions benefiting the kingdom, or are they only benefiting yourself?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will continue in 1 Thessalonians 5 today. As Paul closes this letter, we are encouraged to live a life that God wants us to live. The rest of the world still needs Jesus, and God's desire is to use us to seek and save the lost. So we should rejoice always and give thanks, even in the worst circumstances, because God chose to use us for His will.

We will be in 1 Thessalonians 5 today. There’s a lot going on in this world that points to the end times, and a lot of people are still stumbling through the dark. But rather than hide within the safety of the church and pretend that things aren’t getting worse, we need to stay sober and alert, ready to defend our faith. There are still people out there in need of Christ, and we need to be ready to share the Gospel while pushing back against the darkness of this world.

We will be in Luke 6 today. The Pharisees had a human approach about the Sabbath regarding what was and wasn't considered rest. Jesus' followers also had a human idea on wealth and prosperity and the best way to live. But our idea on how to live involves trusting ourselves to make the best decisions so that we can have comfort. Jesus flipped the script and gave a blessing and a warning on how to go about life. Do you trust Him?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 18 today. We have freedom in Christ, and for a lot of people, freedom and independence are an important part of life. However, God has not called us to a life to be self reliant, but to be humble and dependent on Christ. Are you using your liberty to serve others and grow the kingdom, or to serve yourself?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 4 today. God doesn’t want a cheap scheduled worship with a set of standards. Rather than follow a set of rules and traditions we created to “worship”, God calls us to worship Him wherever we are by using our spiritual gifts. How are you worshiping today?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 14 today. As Jesus was comforting His disciples due to what He was about to accomplish, He explains how Oneness with the Father works. We can’t get to the Father who is in Heaven without Jesus, and if we know Jesus, we know the Father. Jesus’ work was completed, but our work is still going on, and He’s called us to do greater works than even Jesus Himself did.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 John 4 today. The enemy has put out a spirit of confusion of what is right and what is wrong. If the issue does not confess Jesus and is not of love, it is not from God, but from Satan. This test is designed to clean up ethical gray areas so that we can know the truth, and avoid the enemy’s traps.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Revelation 2 today. There are signs and things going on right now indicating that the end is getting closer and closer, and yet fewer and fewer people are being faithful and sharing their faith. This should be a wake up call for the few remaining faithful Christians not to run around and panic over signs and conspiracy theories, but to focus on what God has commanded us to do, which is share the Gospel message to seek and save the lost before it’s too late.

This means that in the process, we will have to take on the struggles of others, and it can get uncomfortable. This doesn’t mean that we can’t do some of the things we enjoy, but if we are putting our own comfort and satisfaction before the mission, or before helping our neighbor, then there will be no reward in Heaven. What’s holding you back from pleasing your neighbor for their good?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 12 today. Jesus tells the parable of the sower and the seeds. The seeds sown by the road don’t develop at all and get eaten up. The seeds sown in rocky soil start off strong, but without deep roots can’t stand up to the pressures of the world and fall away. The seeds sown among the thorns ended up struggling through life. Where are you rooted, and where are you sowing your seeds?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 1 today. The physical persecutions that the New Testament Church faced were beneficial to us to receive the Gospel. When we are persecuted, it's like refining gold with fire. The impure things will separate leaving only pure gold behind. So these trials and persecutions we face today should refine us to be able to bring the Gospel to the next generation.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 9 today. In Christ, we have the liberty to either be faithful and share the Gospel, and the liberty to ignore God’s command and live a life doing whatever we want. We don’t, however, have liberty over the consequences of those choices. If we are faithful to God’s commands, the benefits are both temporal for our lives, and eternal to other people’s lives. If we aren’t faithful, the consequences are eternal. Choose your liberty carefully.

We will be in 2 Peter 1 today. We have been gifted with the knowledge of God through His word and through the Holy Spirit, and by this knowledge we can live a life with fewer struggles. This is why it's important to keep growing in the faith.

We will be in 1 Corinthians 1 today. Corinth was a city where many cultures intermixed and several ideologies made their way into the Church. Today is no different, as many Christians or people who claim to be Christians bring in anti Gospel cultural ideologies that are contrary to God's word. Who's heart are you following, yours or Christ's?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Galatians 6 today. We covered this topic a few weeks ago, and it bears repeating. Just because you don't do bad things, doesn't make you a good person. This world is getting worse, and people aren't doing as much good as they should. God didn’t call us to do nothing, so why have we become so numb to each other? How much good are you doing?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Titus 1 today. As believers, our faith in Christ is supposed to be guiding our lives. God doesn’t want us constantly tripping through life over the same mistakes, but at the same time, He also doesn’t want us to beat ourselves up over those mistakes. God can still use us in spite of our shortcomings. Stand firm in the faith and see how God can work in your life.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Acts 16 today. A lot of Christians have fallen into a habit where their motives have become more important than what God asks us to do. As a result, we make mistakes that leave us with pain and regret. All God wants from us is a relationship, and from that comes obedience that spares us the heartache.

We will be in Philippians 2 today. Paul is encouraging the Church to be working towards the same goal, which is seeking and saving the lost. Our responsibilities as members of the body are equally important, and we shouldn’t complain about the things that God has told us to do. In the end, none of our works will be in vain.

We will be in Matthew 14 today. In this whole chapter, Jesus lost a close friend/relative, the disciples faced a storm, and several thousand people were hungry. Yet even though Jesus felt the emotions of a human, he was able to cope with the loss by healing the sick, fed thousands of people with a small lunch, and walked on water while teaching Peter an important faith lesson. Jesus was able to accomplish all of this by trusting in God. Whether you have yet to believe, or have been a believer for a long time, the main takeaway is to Trust God.

We will be in Ephesians 4 today. We talked about this subject back in February, but the message is just as important. To preserve the unity of the spirit and grow in Christ, God gave us each gifts. Therefore, it is important for us to use these gifts to grow the body of Christ. What gifts has God given you to utilize?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 14 today. In the moment, it's easy to pass judgment on people based on visible sin. However, for the lost person, all this does is shut the door to Gospel. We need to be individuals who show compassion to one another for the purpose of seeking and saving the lost, and let God be the judge.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Galatians 6 today. In addition to adopting good behaviors for our own spiritual benefit, we also need to bear each other's burdens to build accountability and strengthen relationships. Keep doing good to others.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 3 today. God doesn’t expect all Christians to be on the same level. A brand new believer isn’t expected to act as someone who has followed Christ for 20 years, but growth should be happening, and maturity is necessary, especially when it comes to sharing the Gospel.

We will be in Revelation 21 today. A coward isn’t someone being afraid, but someone who lets their fear control them. While it’s natural for the flesh to be cowardice to the pressures of the world, God wants us to surrender that over to him so that the Gospel can be proclaimed. Are you letting cowardice get in the way of sharing the Gospel message?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 1 today. It is good for us to pray, but our prayer should have the right motivation. If we pray out of selfish motivation, God may still answer that prayer, but not in the way we might expect. Pray for the encouragement of others, for peace and love in a way that will bring glory to God.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in James 3 today. Nobody likes being misquoted or misrepresented. But there is a danger in misrepresenting what God says. Before declaring “God told me to do this”, read scripture to discern if it really is God speaking, or if it is just your selfish motivation.

We will be in Matthew 11 today. We as humans have a bad habit of carrying around a lot of extra weights and burdens that aren’t beneficial and wear us out. When Jesus called us to repent, He called us to put down those burdens and let Him carry them. What unneeded burdens are you carrying?

This week, Pastor Keith will be giving a report on the recent mission trip that he took to Bozeman, Montana to help build up the Church at Four Corners. At first, he wasn’t sure why he came down to help, but the Lord revealed to him that a lot has to be given up to support the mission. What are you willing to give up to carry out God’s will?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 8 today. We have been given liberty in Christ to be able to do some things that others might view as sinful. However, while we might not stumble as a result of our actions, it is important that we don’t cause others to stumble. How are you caring for other believers?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. Pastor Doug will be delivering a special message this morning. Peter denied Jesus 3 times even after saying that he would remain faithful, and struggled to grasp the task he was given at the great commission. When we try to be faithful in our own strength, we often fail. It’s only when we rely on His strength that we can be completely obedient.

Happy Resurrection Day everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 19 today. Every sin we committed put Jesus on the cross. We mocked Him, beat Him, drove the nails into His hands, and ultimately killed an innocent man. Christ could have stopped this, but He chose to take the punishment and forgive us, so we should be able to forgive one another.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 13 today. Jesus offered to wash Peter’s feet to demonstrate an act of love. This was very important, because as Paul pointed out, love is the only thing that will endure after everything else is gone, and is one of the most valuable investments you can make. How are you loving one another?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 Samuel 6 today. While God is a God that is to be feared when things are going bad, He is also to be praised when things are going good. So when David found out that the ark of the Lord brought about great blessings, his own wife was embarrassed that he was dancing in his underwear praising God. Even though he looked foolish to us, what is stopping us from having this kind of excitement for God in our own circumstances?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Kings 18 and 19 today. Elijah was courageous standing up to the prophets of Baal, but as soon as his life was in danger, he hid from his enemies. It’s easy to get discouraged and fearful when our life is in danger, but if we listen to God, He will deliver us and accomplish great things through us. God’s voice doesn’t always come through a roaring storm, but sometimes through a gentle breeze, and those are the moments that we really need to listen to what He is saying to us.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Galatians 4 today. When we come to Christ, we are adopted into the Kingdom as sons and daughters of God. We are no longer slaves to sin, and have a perfect Father that loves us. This also means that we are brothers and sisters to one another, and we ought to love one another as our Father first loved us.

We will be in Matthew 11 today. God has a purpose for each one of us, and when we go at it alone, it’s difficult to find peace when things get hard. By trusting in Christ and following His direction, His will would be accomplished with the peace that passes all understanding.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 1 today. Our mission as Christians is to share the Gospel and the name of Jesus. Regardless of how this is accomplished, there will always be a cost. Paul was persecuted and chased from city to city, ultimately dying for the cause. This shouldn’t discourage us, as our reward is in Heaven. Pray this week about what sharing the Gospel message will do in your life.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 4 today. God has given each of us a calling, and sometimes things don’t go our way. But God is often equipping us with the tools that we need to accomplish His will. This is why it’s important to walk in a manner that is worthy of our calling by preserving the unity of the Spirit.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 20 today. A life in Christ isn’t supposed to be about getting what we want, as the mother of the sons of Zebedee wanted, but about serving others as Jesus demonstrated by healing the blind. How are you living out a life in Christ?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 9 and 10 today. As Jesus gives the parable of the shepherd and the sheep, He points out that He is the good shepherd that calls our voice, and we are to follow. Jesus doesn’t let us out of the church, He leads us out. Follow Jesus, and share His message.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 3 and 4 today. It is more important than ever that as believers we are sharing the Gospel message, because those that do not believe won’t be able to enter into the day of rest. Not everyone will believe, but they won’t believe if they don’t hear the Gospel message.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 14 today. Jesus made a way for us to get to Heaven, by living the life that we couldn’t. But Jesus wants more than our salvation, He wants a relationship with us. That’s why He wants us to keep His commandments. He gave His life for us, at the very least, we should live our lives for Him.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Acts 3 and 4 today. Peter and John were bold to speak of the Gospel after the crucifixion, which eventually led to their martyrdom. They were untrained and uneducated, but even despite this, they were still faithful to share the message. Today, we don’t face nearly as many struggles and challenges as they faced, but God still uses us to be a vessel to share that message.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 4 today. God has promised us some great things in the end, but the things on earth can hold us back from all of that. Not only are we responsible to conduct ourselves in a Christlike manner for our own benefit, but also for the benefit of others. The world is watching, and our actions will either lead to the salvation of others, or push others further away from God.

Happy New Year everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in James 2 today. Many believers have faith, but fail to apply it to their lives. We have a habit of acting like a Christian among other believers, yet beyond that, behave like the rest of the world. If we have faith, but don’t actively work to avoid sin, then what is the point of having faith?

Merry Christmas everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 3 today. John the Baptist was called before he was born to be the one to prepare the way of the Lord, and he did that by removing obstacles that would get in the way of the Gospel. We have that same responsibility to remove those obstacles to share Christ with the world. What obstacles do you have that need to be removed?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 7 today. Jesus teaches us about judging one another and treating one another with fairness, but our actions are critical of our foundation. Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 3 today. As Christians, we have a responsibility to grow in Christ. A lot of people in the Church have just gone through the motions, fill a seat on Sunday, and live the rest of the week in the world. Paul is calling those people out to stop following people and start following in Christ. How is your spiritual growth?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 John 4 today. We live in a world of fake news and misinformation, and with that, the truth of God’s word often gets twisted to the point where it’s no longer the truth. Before accepting someone’s word, it’s important to make sure it is in line with what the Bible tells us.

Welcome to a special episode of the Highland Southern Baptist Podcast that I’m calling “The Producer’s Rant”. What ways can you include Jesus in some of those difficult conversations and situations?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 8 today. In this famous passage of scripture, we reflect on the adulterous woman who was about to be condemned for her sins. Jesus was quick to point out that everyone is a sinner, and we are all equally held accountable to God’s standards. He then eliminates this excuse by telling the woman to repent. Before we judge others for their sins, we must work on our own struggles.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 15 today. The resurrection of Christ is something that is often taken for granted. We say that Christ rose from the dead, but do we really really understand what we are saying, or has it become a phrase that rolls off the tongue? Are we living our lives with the urgency to share the Gospel message with the purpose of seeking and saving the lost?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 8 today. As Christians, we all have battle inside between the flesh and the Spirit. We are back. We apologize for the month long hiatus. Our church went through a very difficult time related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are happy to be back, and should continue with our weekly message. We will be in 1 Timothy today. Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.We will be in 1 Corinthians 1 today. When we serve God, it is often the human response to focus only on what we can do, rather than what He can accomplish in us. God can use anyone to accomplish His will. As Paul put it, consider your calling.

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.We will be in Matthew 4 today. This famous passage talks about the 3 temptations of Jesus, and His scriptural response to them. Satan uses the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the boastful pride of life to pull us away from God, but at a great cost. We all struggle with temptations, but just know that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
