On this show, we interview local church worship leaders about leadership, worship, creativity and teamwork. We believe by working together and learning from each other we can build worshiping churches that are passionate about the presence of God.
Today I'm giving a quick update about the podcast.
This week I sat down with worship pastor and CCM artist Andrew Kurtz. We talked about the why behind his music, using songs to heal, seeking discipleship and more! It was a really great conversation. Here are a few of my favorite thoughts:
I'm giving everything to the cause of Christ.
Please God first.
As leaders, our primary prayer should be for wisdom.

This week I sat down with worship leader and songwriter Nathan Shoemaker to discuss stretching yourself in terms of musical style. We talk about why it's important, how to try it and even who should try it!
Here are a few of my favorite thoughts from this episode:
Different churches call for different musical styles.
When it comes to identifying your strengths as a worship leader, ask your pastor, ask other musicians, get feedback. Don't assume you already know.
Find forgiving spaces to try new things: a small group, a mid-week service or a youth service.

Today on the podcast I’m talking rehearsals. Specifically, why your rehearsals SUCK and how to fix them. If I’m honest, I used to hate rehearsals. If I’m even more honest, it was my own fault. I wasn’t making them a worthwhile event for myself or my team. And you know what? My Sunday services were suffering because of it. I needed to make a change, so I pinpointed 5 things I needed to work on. It took some time, but my rehearsals eventually turned around!
If you’ve ever felt like your team doesn’t want to be at rehearsal, or if YOU don’t want to be there, this episode is for you!

Let’s talk about idolatry. That sounds fun, right?! Maybe not. But it’s a necessary piece of a conversation about worship. Especially for worship leaders. There are many things that can distract us from what’s most important.
If we’re not careful, we may begin worshiping our own leadership, the stage or the applause of man rather than worshiping God. We should search our hearts often. That’s what I discussed this week with worship leader, songwriter and author Steph Andrews.
