Context Culture
Context Culture Cast goes deeper than language in conversations about culture. Cultural understanding, daily life and how we interact as people are all up for discussion - all led by the two hosts, Yuchen and Stewart. Each new week you will hear from a new guest. This could be someone who has travelled the world, a professional who has dedicated their career to cultural education or even you! So tune in, relax and open up to some dialogue that will change the way you think about culture forever.
Before we get started - are you sitting comfortably with a cup of tea? Maybe its an earl grey, an oolong, a green tea or an English breakfast tea - but do you know the story of your brew?
In this episode, we want to take you on a journey through the history of tea, giving you an understanding of where your boiled beverage comes from and how the way we drink tea across the world can vary greatly! Welcome to the penultimate episode of season 1 of the Culture Cast! In this very special episode, hosts Yuchen and Stewart sit down with Xuan, who opens up about the Opera in China.

Welcome back to the Culture Cast! Across the globe, the increasing volume of the voices raising awareness for the experience of women is a wonderful collection of sounds to hear. In our quest to get some of the "coolest" people on our podcast, this week, hosts Yuchen and Stewart interviewed Deana - the host of an Arabic radio show based out of London. Where are you from?
For some, this is a relatively easy question to answer, yet, for others, it's much more complicated. A lot of us dream of being bilingual. Something about being able to live, think, perceive and enjoy the world in another language is an extremely appealing idea! So what actually is it like to be bi(or more)lingual? How does a new vocabulary shape our perceptions of the world around us as well as ourselves?
In this episode, we speak with Nicole, a freelance translator from Beijing, China. Nicole not only speaks brilliant English, but also has a keen grasp on other South East Asian languages that have allowed her to explore and make connections across the globe.

New lockdown restrictions in the UK, global travel bans and a halting of education in the majority of Western European, North American and South American countries. Studying abroad (or even leaving your house for that matter) can feel like a far-away experience, but Zaim is here to remind us of what studying abroad can feel like, along with the challenges you're likely to face on the way.
Zaim is a current undergraduate at Lancaster University who moved from Malaysia, his home country, after his high-school years and as a result of attending an international college. Education isn't his only focus, however, and he is currently in the midsts of directing his first film production to be shown at the Malaysian Student Film Festival in March.

Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to the Culture Cast!
This series has been produced with one goal in mind, to increase the baseline of cross-cultural competence across the globe. How do we do this? Well, we bring on guests from a variety of backgrounds - from students to consultants, and ask them to share insights on their experiences interacting with individuals from different cultural backgrounds than their own.
