1500 Words: Recent Episodes

Pastor Jared Clements

1500 Words is a podcast designed to be an encouragement to those of us who are in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ or are perhaps interested in giving their lives to Jesus Christ. I'll begin with my testimony over several episodes and then we'll get in to studying the Word of God in simple to understand teachings with practical examples.

Each episode is designed with the framework of 15 minutes in mind. Previously when writing sermons I realized that each minute represented about 110 words and so 1500 words seemed an appropriate amount of time which in turn led to the title.

Today we'll be talking about pride one last time as James speaks of the pridefulness of assuming that tomorrow is promised. James will also deal with the rich once again admonishing them to do right with what they have.

We'll pick up where we left off two weeks ago as James was talking about worldly wisdom and the wisdom that comes from above. If we walk in the world's ways we'll find ourselves with all kinds of problems and we'll find that we don't even really care all that much about what God thinks. James says those who don't even pray about the things they have need of and that pray with the wrong motive were as adulterers and adulteresses in their relationship with Jesus.

Then we'll talk about wisdom and there are two kinds of wisdom. The kind that comes from above and the worldly wisdom of this earth.

This week we'll begin a new topic in our study of James as our tongues come into focus. We'll see James use three examples in relation to the power of the tongue, we'll talk about the need for those who teach to realize the seriousness of the words they use and we'll talk about how the Lord changes our words and the things that proceed from our tongues as we simply grow in our faith and are filled with His Spirit.

We'll talk about demonic faith and the faith of Rahab as well.
