Recently, I noticed that I was doing many things because they "make sense" or they are a good strategy. But I wasn't really feeling inspired about them.
To move from a place of inspiration is what this idea of being tapped on the shoulder is all about. It's this voice, this idea that comes to you and asked for you to take it in and spend time with it and allow it to inspire you to action.

My guest today is Carla Biesinger. Carla is a business mentor and online course creator who helps women build profitable businesses through the power of online marketing.
After building a 7-figure business in Argentina, she felt compelled to teach her methods of online growth to other business owners. She launched her first online course in 2016 and has since taught over 7,000 clients how to grow their brand, audience, an income online. Her proven methodology focuses on building authentic relationships, using “attraction marketing” in order to turn followers into email subscribers and therefore revenue-generating clients. Her clients are women from all around the world including jewelry designers, health coaches, authors, artists, all with one goal: to build profitable online businesses that will create more freedom, independence, and wealth.
In this episode, Carla and I talk about
Obviously, I am super curious about humans. As a woman, I love to understand what moves us as women. I noticed for myself that it's very easy for me to help others fulfil their dreams. I slip into it and have to remind myself, wait, what do I actually want. What is the life I want to live. Don't get me wrong, there is no shame in supporting our loved ones or even an employer in realizing their visions... as long as it is a conscious choice.
So, what do you choose? How do you CHOOSE to live your life? What makes your life meaningful for YOU?

In this episode, Alex and I speak about
I’ve been sitting with this question "How do I really want to live my life?" deeply for over a year. It is the question that has been at the root of most of what I’ve been moving through. When chatting with Alex I remember him putting it really well. You gets to live your life however you choose. The important part is to remember that you have a CHOICE. You don’t have to work a full-time job, but you can if you so choose. You don’t have to spend your time on your phone, but you can if you so choose.
As long as we remember that we have a choice, it’s up to us to design our lives and relationships and all the things in a way that truly works for us. In our choice is also our power. When we let the opinions of others or the ideas of society choose for us. I found that when I can make whatever I am experiencing about choosing how I want to relate to that, then I am empowered.

As they say, money is never the problem, your relationship with it is. Money itself is neutral, it’s whatever you make it to be that makes us a magnet or a repellant for money. It can be the source of all evil or a tool to create a huge impact in this world. It’s up to you!
This week I'm excited to talk to Selomé Samuel about money.
Selomé is a certified trauma-informed Financial and Life Coach who is on a mission to help people realize that anyone can be good with money. She is also a photographer and a DJ and through doing this work realized how much money stress can interrupt your creative flow. She especially loves to work with folks who have been underserved by traditional financial education, namely women and people of color.
In this episode, Selomé and I talk about:
As I have shared before, learning and talking about rest has a big theme for me in the past couple of months. So this is a juicy episode on all fronts!

Today's thought is simple. You're hoping for an opportunity? F*** that. You are a powerful being and you have the power to create your own opportunities. Waiting for someone to discover your talent, to read your manuscript, to ask to take your business to the next level? Stop. Right. Now. Whatever you desire, whatever opportunity you're hoping for you can create it for yourself. Maybe it's not a one stop shop. Maybe it requires more steps. Doesn't matter. Just take them.
In this episode I talk about:
In short: You get to create your own opportunities. Don't wait around for other people to take action on your desires. You be about it.

In this episode, Kayla and I talk about:
Especially as new entrepreneurs, women (and men) easily fall into hustle culture and work on their business non-stop. While it’s important to take consistant action, it’s just as vital to nourish and regulate ourselves.

Lately, I've been feeling quite exhausted which got me thinking about rest. Somewhere along my path I leaned more into going than into resting and releasing. I realized, I have no idea what rest even is. What does it mean to rest? How do you rest? I started to go on a quest to learn about stress and burnout.
This episode is about:
Coming home to the body is such a theme for me. I know that the body has all the answers I am looking for. It is about slowing down to the pace of my own body so that I can hear the wisdom that is inside.
Resources:
In the episode I mention the book Burnout by Emily & Amelia Nagoski. The book explains how women experience emotional exhaustion and provides simple and science-based tools to help women minimize stress, manage emotions and live a more joyful life.

Marianne started Soul Collective Berlin with Natalie Herb in 2019 with the mission to curate and recommend offerings from Berlin-based teachers they know and trust.
In this episode, Marianne and I get into
Being an entrepreneur is hard. I don't mean this to be discouraging at all. Of course it's way easier to have a "stable" job and regular income, always know what to expect pretty much and not taking leaps of faith on a regular basis. And, it is also SO rewarding when you can bring something to life that comes from the depth of who you are and is beyond finishing tasks for someone else. I spent the last month in Northern Spain in the region of Cantabria as part of The Break Fellowship funded by the EU. The Break is a program for Women Entrepreneurs to grow their businesses while supporting local entrepreneurs in different, mostly rural, regions of Spain.
Cantabria is known for beautiful coasts (especially among surfers), mountain regions and lush countryside. Traditionally, business in Cantabria happens in the sectors of food and agriculture including animal farming and tourism including coastal and more and more rural tourism.
Before recording this episode, we spoke to Sandra Castañeda Elena, one of the biggest experts in Business Sustainability in Spain and author of the blog Negociants in the Spanish newspaper Diario.es. For her blog and the book she is writing, Sandra is interviewing women who run social businesses in Cantabria.
She observed a trend in Cantabria of people between the ages of 35 and 45 who were born in Cantabria and lived in metropolitan areas of Spain or abroad and are now returning to Cantabria to start up their own business with the intention to contribute to the development of the region. These entrepreneurs often focus on preserving traditions and applying them to their business in a more contemporary way.
One of these entrepreneurs is Aitor Lobato. His partner Sarah Hart is my guest today.
Sarah Hart, originally from North Carolina, is a rural entrepreneur and artisanal cheese-maker living in San Roque de Riomiera, Cantabria, Spain.
In this episode Sarah and I talk about:

As we dive into the topic of creating healthy relationships, we discuss the importance of effective communication and vulnerability in building a strong connection with ourselves and with others. We also discuss how men can redefine and embrace their own authentic expression of masculinity, one that aligns with their true values and desires.
Overall, this episode offers valuable insights and practical tips for anyone seeking to create more fulfilling and healthy relationships, whether romantic or not. It also provides thought-provoking perspectives on gender and the role of masculinity in our society.

In this episode, I dive into the topic of living a life that is meaningful to YOU. I've always been curious about what it takes to find meaning in life and how to live a life that aligns with my values and desires. And I know I'm not alone in this, more and more people prioritize self-actualization and reject the idea of working a traditional 9-5 or putting in 60-80 hours a week just to advance in their careers.
As you are listening, consider:
How do we go about living a "fuck yes" life?
The first step is to get clear on your values. Knowing what truly matters to you and what you stand for can help guide your decision-making and ensure that you're living in alignment with your beliefs. Another important aspect is to get clear on your vision for your life - in your wildest dreams. This can include anything from career aspirations to personal goals like starting a family. Once you know what you want, it becomes easier to identify the areas of your life that may be holding you back from achieving those desires. Finally, we need to ask ourselves: who do I need to be in order to live the life of my dreams? and learn to say no to everything that is not that!
Ultimately, living a fulfilling life by your own design is all about taking intentional action towards what you truly want. It may require stepping out of your comfort zone, but it's worth it to create a life that feels like a "fuck yes" every day.
What steps can you take today to start living a life that truly aligns with your values and desires?

In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Ali Olivier, a female empowerment coach who specializes in helping women overcome self-doubt, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. Ali shares her unique approach, which combines science and spirituality, to help women unlock their inner power and reclaim their true self-worth, so they can live a life full of passion and purpose.
We delve into the human experience, and Ali emphasizes the importance of finding safety in the body as a key to building true confidence that comes from within, rather than relying on external factors. She shares her perspective on the role of the nervous system in shaping our responses to life's challenges, and how we can learn to regulate it through embodiment practices.
We also discuss how these concepts apply to relationships, including how to navigate conflicts and establish healthy boundaries. Ali shares her insights on the power of vulnerability in building authentic connections and how to approach difficult conversations with loved ones.
We talk about:

Welcome to today's episode, where we’ll be exploring what it means to be human.
At our core, we all share the same desires for connection and love, and we all know that we will eventually pass away. While we're alive, we have the opportunity to make the most of our circumstances. However, we can be quite hard on ourselves and engage in negative self-talk, so it's important to allow ourselves to be human and to give ourselves grace.
I've come to realize that I feel most alive when I'm in connection with others. True connection goes beyond just being in the same room or having a conversation; it means we are relating to each other emotionally. While this can sometimes be difficult because as humans we are not "perfect", it's important to find the humanity in others and to watch our judgment. This is only possible when we accept our own humanity.
We live in a world where we're increasingly disconnected and lonely. Technology can be a barrier to real connection, and we often turn to Netflix to "relax" instead of spending time with loved ones. It's essential that we make time for meaningful connection and ensure that our relationships are not only virtual.
Finally, we talk about humanizing business. Many of us focus solely on structure when it comes to work, leaving little room for creativity and flow. We often reject the feminine aspects of being and disregard our personal values.
My invitation for you: how can you allow yourself to be human more?
If you're interested in creating a meaningful life but don't know where to begin, I'm currently offering 1:1 coaching for women. If you're interested, you can apply here. Thanks for tuning in, and I'll catch you in the next episode.

When I came up with the tagline for the podcast “What It Means To Be Human” – because I’m just excited about talking to humans and talking about the human experience – I also thought about what that means to me specifically. I have been wanting to record this episode on being German for a while. It is part of what it means to be human for me.
This episode is not about efficiency or being on time. Instead, I talk about:
· how I felt when I first started traveling,
· the history of Germany,
· the difference between shame and guilt,
· generational trauma, and
· how we can shape our societies.
For here on out, I will start recording solo episodes of the podcast in German. I’m sure I’ll have guests here and there that don’t speak German and I’ll record those episodes in English, so be on the watch for those. The title and intro will give it away.
Thank you for being on this journey with me. As always, I am here for you. Book a discovery call with me to see if this is something I can support you with!
This episode is about the rhythm of life, its cyclical nature and things coming to an end to make space for a new beginning. It’s beautiful and painful at the same time.
Endings are needed to create space for new beginnings, but they also may come with grief and pain.
It might scare us off from acknowledging that something has come to an end, because we don’t want to face the pain of it. And, sometimes there is no pain, we are just too busy to notice that something has actually already completed itself.
In this episode I talk about:
· moving from a place of structure vs. inspiration,
· feeling a situation complete itself, and
· creating space for new beginnings.
In your own life, is there a situation, a relationship, a project that is complete energetically and is asking for you to acknowledge that it has completed itself? Where do you get to make space for something new, a new way of being?
As always, I am here for you. Book a discovery call with me to see if this is something I can support you with!
Lately, I have been feeling quite exhausted. I’ve been going strong for a couple of months, being really creative and putting a lot of amazing things out into the world. Have you listened to my guided meditation yet? That is one of the things that were so much fun for me to create.
And, I haven’t taken the time to celebrate and really honor myself for how much I have been doing. So In this episode, I dive a little bit deeper into why celebrating is important:
In this episode I talk about:
· the importance of celebrating your wins regularly,
· what I mean when I say “celebrate”,
· simple practices you can use to celebrate, and
· how not to lose energy when you have been creative a lot.
This week, tune into where you have been going strong and haven’t taken the time to celebrate yourself and your wins. It’s never too late to start honoring yourself in that way. I guarantee you over time you will see how much more creative (or “productive”) you can be if you take time to celebrate your wins.

Something I've been sitting with lately is this idea of taking the pressure off. We experience so much pressure in our day to day, in our jobs and our relationships; these expectations to do things really fast.
We are all moving towards something and want to invest our energy wisely and at the same time, we also need these moments to just be, to be with ourselves, to experience everything that's going on around us and to take a moment just to breathe. We want to find balance between going and flowing.
Ultimately, our experience as humans here on earth is about integrating both the go and the flow.
In this episode I talk about:
· integrating both go and flow energy in our lives,
· understanding where pressure is coming from, and
· how to take the pressure off.
My hope is that you can also find ways to set yourself up in a way that is really working for you – not for somebody else. That it will allow you to take the pressure off and give you space in your week and your day to really just be in flow.

I read this line in a book the other day of an accomplished author talking about the billionaire host of an event (nothing wrong with being a billionaire by the way. We are here for that). He said – and I am paraphrasing: This man might have more money than me, but I have something he will never have which is enough.
That really hit me in my body. I could feel that truth. It doesn’t even have to be about money. It’s the energy that we are moving through the world from.
In this episode I talk about

So what if you moved through the world from a place of already doing enough, having enough, and being enough? Because you ARE!

There is a lot to be said about what it mean to be human. In a way we are talking about that every week, you and I on this podcast. Something I have been with recently that makes our human experience so special is the capacity of our hearts.
In this episode I talk about
• one vital aspect of what it means to be human
• black and white thinking
• sadness
• joy, and
• what our hearts can hold.
When talking to my friends and my clients I notice that there are often themes that are present for all of us. Lately, I have felt like we as humans, as a collective are moving a lot of grief and sadness together. Can you feel that, too?

You may have heard “high intention, low attachment” before. It means having a clear vision, that is, a high intention, for what you desire and low attachment to the details of it. Yes, you have clarity and intentionality about where you're going and what you're doing, but you're not attached to what specifically it looks like. Because all of these details, which specific city you're going to live, which specific people you're going to work with, or car you're going to drive, they don't really matter.
You get clear on what you desire and you let God, the Universe, Spirit, take care of the rest.
In this episode, I share about an experience I had the other day of understanding of this in a whole new way. I received this message, this wisdom in my body. I didn’t just intellectually understand it. My whole being GOT IT.
I also talk about how to deal with fear around things not working out or not being possible for you and how you can shift from fearful thinking into living in the realm of possibility.
And may you have high intentions for your life and move towards with low attachment.

What a time we are living in at the moment. I feel like the last couple of weeks have been filled with intense emotions, change, transformation. Not just in my own life, but also with my clients I’ve been noticing these shifts. Relationships and old ways of being coming to an end.
Have you noticed it too in your own life?
Especially when things don’t go as planned and you are wondering why you are still waiting for you person, or that ideal job, or that circle of friends we can loose hope.
This is a message of encouragement that if you feel hopeless about something in your life right now, you can borrow my hope. I have hope for you and the life you desire!

This week, we talk about the stages of development of men. I learnt about this from Alison Armstrong in her audiobook The Amazing Development of Men which I highly recommend listening to. It’s a 3.5 hour recording of a live event she did and it’s so juicy and filled with awe and love for all men which, if you haven’t notice yet, is an energy that I love to bask in.
So here are the four stages I talk about in this episode:
Page,
Knight,
Prince, and
King.
In each stage I give a brief overview of the energy that a boy or man is in during this phase. I share around which age a boy or man enters this phase, his capacity to be in relationship and his intention to be in relationship during that stage.
As always, this information might sound stereotypical or generalizing, yet I’m inviting you to listen with curiosity and apply whatever resonates in your own life.
If anything, take this is a reminder not to take your man’s actions personally and understand what is happening for him in each stage to see how you can support him.

Leilah is a freedom and embodiment coach and former professional dancer, specialising in the healing power of the mind-body connection and movement. Her medicine spreads the message of fierce love and childlike awe for all of life, inspired by her own healing journey of self-worth through compassion, radical self-acceptance and reclamation of self-expression.
Leilah is also one of my besties and soul sisters so you will probably see and hear from her again here on the podcast or elsewhere.
In this flow-y episode, Leilah and I talk about
dance and how life is a dance.
Leilah shares her personal story of growing up dancing and stepping into the dancing world but not really feeling like she could be authentic in this world.
We touch on female friendships and the hurt that little girls can cause each other.
And we talk about how personal growth and healing is a full-body or, as we call it, somatic process. Dance has certainly had that power for both Leilah and I.

In this episode, I talk about the “father wound.” The father wound is a term to describe the consequences of a father figure being absent. The father might be physically absent, emotionally distant or unavailable, physically or verbally abusive, or overly critical and dismissive of the child’s behavior. Not having a father figure present might show up in (romantic) relationships and a feeling of lack of safety and worthiness.
If that is you, you are not doomed. You can heal the father wound. And I will share with you how in this episode.
There are two common issues that come up around the father wound: Fear of abandonment or loss and a feeling of being unworthy of love. In relationships these might show up as:
People pleasing, i.e. not speaking your needs out of fear of rejection.
Neediness, i.e. looking outside of yourself for the reassurance, love, and safety you desire.
Being the rescuer, i.e. trying to fix your partner hoping to get the love you desire and am worthy of.
Attracting emotionally unavailable men (or being emotionally unavailable), i.e. meeting people that are not ready or willing to commit or open their hearts because the absence of a man is what feels more familiar.
Again, you are not doomed. You can heal. Identifying how the father wound shows up in relationships is the beginning of that journey, because we cannot change what we cannot see.
In the episode I also share 6 steps you can take to heal the father wound. It all starts with you believing that it is possible, because it is.
I leave you with this question:
Imagined you had the healthiest, most loving, most liberated Father-figure in the entire world…. what would he say to you?
If you are ready to heal the father wound and build healthier relationships, let me support you. Book a call with me to see if this is something I can support you with!
It’s a good week when Jose Reyes is back on the podcast. You remember Jose from episode 003. Dating, Dragons, and Divorce with Jose Reyes. As you remember, Jose is a fellow coach, entrepreneur, co-creator and formulator at the supplement company Bucked Up and the dad of two girls.
This is a juicy, heart-warming one, and we have so much fun! In this episode, Jose and I switch roles and Jose is interviewing me. You will hear me share about parts of my life that I haven’t shared about before. We talk about the travel destination that I loved most so far (surprise: Cuba) and how my love for this place and experience was related to where I was at in my life when I first went to Cuba in 2016. We talk about latin men and masculinity. I share about working in the hotel industry, going to law school and getting a masters at NYU.
We talk about dating and heartbreak, celibacy and sex, and what it means to truly be naked.
“It’s easy to take off you clothes and have sex. People do it all the time. But opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes, dreams… that is being naked.” – Rob Bell
There are so many real and beautiful moments in this episode. You don’t want to miss it!
You can find Jose on Instagram @theillegalguru. He has a lot of exciting stuff coming out this year, so make sure you follow him here. This weekend, he is hosting the epic “The Manifested Man Retreat” in Utah. Make sure to get on the waitlist for the next one!
What is a trigger? A trigger occurs when you are in a situation that reminds you of something that happened in your past or brings up emotions. Triggers can come up both in the context of trauma, but also just as emotions.
The message I have for you: your triggers are yours.
When something comes up for you, when somebody does something, says something, or doesn't do or say something, what it brings up in you is yours. It's your responsibility to understand and to navigate. Yes, that other person has their behavior, but the reaction, what it brings up in you, the trigger is yours. It's not about blaming or criticizing or putting it on the other person. It's taking radical responsibility for your life, because you are the common denominator in everything that's happening in your life.
With that, I want to teach you a tool that you can use when you're navigating conflict or difficult relationships. It’s a four step process called Non-Violent Communication (Marshall B. Rosenberg).
The first step is observe versus evaluating. The second step is you want to state your feelings. The third step is you want to communicate what you need. And the fourth step is making a request.
Observation
Often when we describe a situation we are evaluating what happened. In non-violent communication, we want to make an observation. You can imagine it like what a video camera would record. You can ask yourself, if I wouldn't judge the situation, if I wouldn't bring my opinions and my evaluations into this situation, what just happened?
Feelings
How does what you observed make you feel? A feeling is a sensation you can experience in your body like joy or anger. You can feel those in your body. Often when we talk about our feelings we are making it about the other person. So we might say “I feel disrespected… by you.” Whenever you can add “by you,” it's an indication that you're not describing a feeling, but are evaluating the other persons behaviour. Some examples of feelings are sad, hurt, angry (when a boundary has been crossed), shame, joy, and excitement.
Needs
The heart of non-violent communication is addressing unmet needs. So, what do you need? Maybe it’s to feel connected, to feel heard, or to feel seen.
Request
Lastly, make a powerful request around your needs. It might be asking to have a conversation around the conflict, it might be around the specific situation and how the other person can meet your need. A request is not a demand, it allows the other person to say no. So when you're making a request, the energy that you're coming from is, this is what I need, would you be willing to give that to me?
If you want to learn more about non-violent communication, get the book by Marshall B. Rosenberg or watch his free training on YouTube. It is such a powerful tool.
I also use this tool with my clients and help them navigate difficult situations in their relationships and in the work place. Book a call with me to see if this is something I can support you with!

How do you relate to others and form relationships with them? In order to understand how you do or don’t, it is helpful to learn about attachment styles. There are four attachment styles. The main distinction here is secure and insecure. If we have a secure attachment style, it is easy for us to be in relationship with others, we feel comfortable with intimacy and sharing our feelings. If we have an insecure attachment style, we are either anxious, avoidant or disorganized when it comes to relating to others and forming relationships.
The good news is: Our attachment style is not set in stone and we can all learn to attach to others in a secure way. In the episode, I share some ways to heal each of those attachment styles.
Secure Attachment
Someone with a secure attachment likely experienced predictable, consistent behavior of their parents or primary caregivers. They come from a family where there was an emphasis on relationship and have experienced justice, fairness and sensitivity in their family. They love to collaborate and work with others. They read people well. Secure attachers feel comfortable with intimacy and sharing their feelings without constantly stressing about it. They strike the ideal balance between caring enough and not worrying too much.
Anxious Attachment
A person with an anxious attachment style experienced inconsistency and confusing behavior from their parents or smothering and enmeshment with a primary caregiver. Anxious attachers feel a great deal with their emotions. They have felt rejected or turned away by one or both parents and find it hard to shift from interacting to being alone. They over-express and like to talk about all the details. Someone with an anxious attachment style often bonds too quickly and doesn't really evaluate whether their partner can meet their needs. They think they are too much and nobody can tolerate them and constantly wonder: Does my partner love me?
Avoidant Attachment
Someone with an avoidant attachment style experienced dismissive and emotionally unavailable parents or primary caregivers. Avoidants like to be alone and enjoy their own space. They have been raised to be self-sufficient and tend to avoid people. They learn early on not to depend on people and not turn to others for soothing or stimulation. They find it hard to shift from being alone to interacting. They under-express their thoughts and feelings and value their independence and autonomy more than the relationship. They might feel threatened about any partner's attempts to control them or limit their autonomy and freedom in any way and will likely retreat when they do.
Disorganized Attachment
A person with a disorganized attachment style likely experienced both inconsistency and dismissive and emotionally unavailable parents. That person grew up in chaos and a constant state of terror, always walking on eggshells, wondering when the other shoe is going to drop. In relationships they have a go here go away energy and experience fear and anxiety. This attachment style usually is a result of deep trauma. In order to heal, disorganized attachers have to heal their childhood trauma.

In this episode, I share with you the Elementum Seasonal Model. This model describes the four seasons of nature, winter, spring, summer, and fall, as phases that we move through in our lives. Understanding the purpose of each season and what to focus on in the season that you're in can be a powerful tool to move through your life and forward with what's present for you.
WINTER
LOW ENERGY: Winter is the end of a chapter. You may feel lost, depressed or hopeless. There is less external action and more internal action-introspection towards realignment. There is a deep sense of no control: you will need to practice surrender and letting go of who you were and what was comfortable for you for the sake of who you’re becoming.
Focus on: Face your inadequacies and accept responsibility. Integrate lessons from last chapter of life. Become more of YOU—align yourself to your top values. Follow your joy. Research and explore new realms. Become deeply connected to your truth in order to create your Vision. Align your Vision with your Values.
SPRING
HIGH ENERGY: There is a sense of clarity around the vision. This season requires a lot of action to implement and build momentum on the vision. You’re optimistic about the future; engaged and passionate. You are entering unknown territory and your job is to make it known and develop mastery.
Focus on: Training and develop skills towards mastery. Head down in work mode. Networking to expand vision. Discipline, good habits and routine. Keep working on and refining your vision. Prepare for obstacles and build resilience.
SUMMER
HIGH-MID ENERGY: You’re in the flow of your vision and have made your mark. You’re in the zone and your vision is being actualized. Because of this, you may feel a disconnection towards the end of this season: “Is this all there is?”
Focus on: Focus on what’s working and do more of that. Enjoy and celebrate your success. Invest the fruits of your labor in preparation for the fall/winter season. Emotionally prepare yourself for the next season. Finish what you started: bring vision to completion. Start contemplating a new vision.
FALL
MID-LOW ENERGY: This season marks the end of a chapter. Things begin to feel stale or stagnant. What used to excite you now feels meaningless or hollow. There may be a clinging to summer, a denial/resistance to summer ending, or anxiety or avoidance of the pending winter season.
Focus on: Tie up loose ends. Plan and prep for winter. Prepare yourself to detox the addiction to results. Acknowledge your achievements, growth, and lessons. Start exploring new possibilities about how you may spend your season of winter.
Shaun is a personal transformation coach for men. He helps them find their life's purpose and get unstuck, so they can make the meaningful change in the world that they know they are here to make. Shaun has a bold, engaging, and witty personality that makes him an excellent coach for helping others make lasting change. When he’s not helping people transform their lives, he can be found playing with his two dogs or wandering in nature.
This is a powerful episode. Shaun and I shares real life examples of what it means to be embodied in our feminine and masculine energy and how those play out in relationships. We talk about what it means to be a man in society today and how the narratives that are told about men as a collective are both confusing and put pressure on men to not behave a certain way. We also answer a beautiful question that Shaun brings up:
WHAT IS THE LIFE THAT WANTS TO LIVE IN YOU?

Keeping my heart open is really real for me right now and I want to share a little bit about that.
Before I do, I'm inviting you to take a moment to maybe close your eyes, really connect to your breath, and come into your body. Bring your awareness to your heart space and notice what's present in your heart. Notice, if there are some walls up. Notice if there's a temperature to it, a warm feeling, maybe even a sense of love towards a particular person or thing. Is it more closed up or open? Are you hunching forward or are your shoulders pulling back, opening your heart space? Just noticing what’s on your heart today.
As we move through our lives, things happen. Things that hurt us, things that bring joy, and everything in between. Especially in the relationships in our family, with our parents, but then also the boyfriends and girlfriends, the partners, the fiancé, the husband and wives, all of that, that leaves an imprint. There are so many things that create this closing of our heart that want us to shut down and build up walls to not let anything in. It is scary to get hurt. It is painful get your heart broken. It sucks.
And, we also want to be really present to our life. We want to be present to everything that's going on. We want to be present in our relationships and really feel connection to other people. In order to do that, we have to keep our heart open. We have to allow ourselves to be really vulnerable, to share what's alive in us, and how we truly feel.
For a long time, my heart was really closed. It just felt a lot safer to go through life with my heart closed, still being in a relationship with other people, but holding back a little. Now, I'm at a point where I have pulled down all of the walls… and it's really scary. It's really scary to keep my heart open, to truly share how I feel, to truly share my fears and intentions, and to really lean in to the love that I feel for the people in my life.
We all want to feel connected to other people. The way to really do that is to open our hearts to give and receive love. It is a process. It can take some time to really lean into that. But ultimately, isn't that how we want to live our lives, fully engaged in both the hard times and the difficult emotions, but also all the joy and all the love? When we close ourselves up, when we close our heart, we don't really feel much of the pain and the hurt, but we also don't feel all the joy and the love, the happiness, the abundance as deeply as well.
That's my invitation for you, whatever that means in your life right now, to keep your heart open, to lean in, to stay with something, even if it feels scary, knowing that nobody can make or break you:
Keep your heart open, let love come in and give love to other people. I know it's scary, but it's so worth it.

There are five different types of relationships (in no particular order): #1 issue-based, #2 compatibility-based, #3 journey mates, #4 fantasy-based, and #5 side-by-side partnership.
No. 1: Issue based relationship.
Your issues and the issues of the other person attract each other. Let me give you a personal example. For a long time I called in unavailable men, because I was dealing with fear of abandonment because my dad moved out when he and my mom separated. Or, it could also be that both people in this dynamic have a similar issue, for instance, fear of rejection.
There is usually a lot of chemistry and physical attraction there which allows us to stay in the dynamics even if we know it’s not good for us.
No. 2: Compatibility-based relationships.
Those are people that you have a lot in common with. You kind of have this best friend feeling, and they can feel like a huge sigh of relief, especially after an issue based relationship. Usually there are no fights, but there's also not a lot of passion. I can kind of feel like roommates.
Here is might be helpful to work with a therapist or coach on really finding polarity in the relationship, that is, embodying your feminine or masculine essence.
No. 3: Journey Mates.
A journey mate is someone who comes into our life, but there seems to be an expiration date.
It's a great relationship. Everything is kind of walking well, but then something happens. And often that might be something external, so it might be a move or some sort of visa situation, something like that. And that is because the person came into our life to teach us something that we needed to learn and that we now get to integrate on our own. So they almost had to go away so that we could integrate.
No. 4: Fantasy-based relationship.
When you fall in love with the idea of someone or with someone's potential. It's thinking that someone will change or that we can change them. And often it might be going after an unavailable person and thinking they'll come around. So that kind of creating this idea of what somebody could be but isn't really.
No. 5: Side-by-side partnership.
It is two people standing next to each other, hand in hand, looking in the same direction as opposed to looking at each other. Both have done a significant amount of work on themselves. They feel whole and complete but not finished Because there's always more work to do. It's when we really know who we are and feel like there's nothing missing.
So it's these two people that are standing there hand in hand and that really stands for that their values and vision are aligned, that they're headed in the same direction and that they want the same thing in life. There's obviously still conflict, there's still fights or things to walk through, but both are committed to growing together and it's sort of like there's three people or three entities in the relationship. There is both individuals and then the thought is the entity of the relationship and that also means that both people are individually committed to their own growth and then they're also committed to the relationship and whatever is in the best interest of the relationship.
I would love to support you in calling in your partner. If that sounds like you, please book a discovery call with me.
Sofie is a fellow coach and student with the Elementum Coaching Institute. She is a women’s empowerment coach from Finnland who is passionate about living life from the inside out.
In this episode, we talk about our individual journeys of connecting to our feminine energy and essence. We both share tools and resources that worked for us in that process. We get into self-love, setting boundaries, stepping into our power, especially as females. I share my process of getting into anger work and how that shifted how I show up in relationships and in business. We also talk about how femininity looks different for everyone.
You can connect with Sofie on her Instagram @sofieleppiniemi.
This episode is about anger. Anger is a vital emotion and, as we talked about before, emotions are energy in motion. That energy that is present in our body wants to express. However, emotions are not exactly welcome in our society, especially anger. So, we learn to keep our emotions in.
When we repress emotion, we often develop unhealthy coping strategies, such as numbing by watching TV, working, sex, or shopping, substance abuse, addiction, being strong, staying in our head, blaming others, spiritual bypassing and toxic positivity, being a victim.
When our emotions are not released, they leak. With anger, in particular, it could be feeling irritable, criticising, judging, and even illness.
Maybe you can relate to this yourself, that sometimes you feel irritable without knowing why. It might be suppressed anger. We all suppress our emotions at times. It’s normal. This is not about making it wrong; it is just about bringing awareness to it.
The reason I want to talk about this in the context of anger is that releasing and processing anger is very powerful, especially for females.
I first read about anger a couple of years ago in the book “The Artist Way;” a beautiful process to connect to your creativity. In week three of the book there are a few paragraphs on anger. It says that anger is fuel. Anger shows us where our boundaries are. Anger gives us a sense of direction; it shows us where we want to go.
After reading that, I started noticing anger more. Before I was completely out of touch with that emotion. I took it as a roadmap, pointing me in the direction that I want to go.
Anger is also about boundaries. It comes up when a line is being crossed, a boundary being crossed. We can ask: What's the line? Where do I feel like my boundaries are being trapped on? Where do I feel like I'm being taken advantage of? Where am I not heard, not seen? Where have I given my power away?
Even more important than understanding where the anger comes from is expressing and released it. There are different ways to release anger.
One process that really works for me is to create an anger release ceremony. The ceremony might look like: Setting an intention to release what no longer serves you. Maybe lighting a candle. Connecting to the anger, allowing it to come up, and then grabbing a pillow to hit or your couch, your bed, any kind of soft surface. While hitting the pillow you might want to speak out loud what you’re angry about. Just allowing yourself to go there.
Another powerful tool is breathwork and meditation. There are specific guided breathwork and meditation practices to release anger that you can find on the internet. I enjoy the Breathwork and Meditation album by Christine Hassler and Stefanos Sifandos. It included session to release different emotions including anger. Since this is a guided process it makes it easier to get started, because you don’t have create your own process.
What also works is using a towel and twisting it like you are rinsing it out while really giving all the energy into the towel and, thus, also release it from your body.
The beauty about releasing anger is that underneath the anger is your passion. If you want to feel more passionate in your life, maybe in a specific area in your life, connecting to your anger and releasing that is something that you might want to make a practice to connect to this passion. I also use it to connect to my inner strength and power, for instance, when I have to have a difficult conversation to requires me to speak up for myself.
Lastly, some other tools to release anger are release writing, that is just letting the words flow outside of you onto the page. Stem sentence writing using “I'm angry because…” and keep going until you feel complete. And movement in general.

This episode is about uncertainty. In the last couple of years, a lot of people had to face off with uncertainty, because all the plans we made, all the ideas we had, what to do, where to go, what to say, they got cancelled. It got me thinking about my relationship with uncertainty.
In 2016, I had just quit my job working for the German government as a lawyer to travel the world. My first stop was in Havana, Cuba. I was there for a month learning Spanish and taking dance classes. Prior to boarding the plane to Havana, I had already made some plans what I wanted to do after that trip. I wanted to volunteer in India and I had applied for grad school in New York City. But as I got there to Havana, something happened. Something changed.
When we go out into the world, when we travel, it has an impact on us. We become a different version of ourselves.
I noticed that this lining up of plans wasn't working for me, because the person I became in Havana was not the same person that went to Havana in the first place. For that new person, following through with everything as planned wasn't the right next move. The only thing I knew for sure after my trip to Havana was I want to be a yoga teacher.
Fortunately, I was able to tweak my plans and signed up for a yoga teacher training while I'm in India. I stilled volunteered for a month close to Bangalore and then flew to Mumbai for the Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training. I took the entire month to really dive into the practices of yoga. As I did, I noticed my body creating more space to hold the uncertainty for what’s after. While it felt scary not to know, it also just felt liberating to know that I can fly back to Germany after the training and then take from there.
After a few weeks in Germany, I decided to go back to Havana to dance, to connect to my body, to heal some of the trauma that is stored in my body through dance. I had done all the “right” things. I followed all the rules. I did what society wanted me to do. To study, to have a safe job. Now it was time to just be. After a few months, I decided to move to New York City with this new awareness:
I can only take the next step that feels good in this moment. No need to think ahead of time. What I have planned may not work for the version of me that I'm becoming.
Taking these small steps, uncertainty and I became friends. So, in 2020 when the world went wild, I noticed a sense of calm in my body. I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I didn't know last month or last year either. It didn't bring me out of balance because I had made a conscious decision to live my life in that way.
And get this: when nothing is certain, everything is possible.
When I don't have a plan, there is even more room for things to happen that I could not even consciously have thought of. Making friends with uncertainty is actually the greatest gift. Even right now, as I'm stepping into self-employment as a coach, as I'm stepping into all of these new exciting opportunities, the fact that I don't know exactly what's going to happen how, it doesn't freak me out because I've spent the last five years making friends with uncertainty. We're good, we're buddies. And, I now have evidence that life supports me. That I don't need to have a plan, because I'm always taken care of. No matter what the next step might be, the resources that I need will come to me, because over the last five years of living with uncertainty they always have. Why wouldn't I believe that they will continue to do?
This is an invitation for you as well to think about what relationship you have with uncertainty.
Are you ready to shift into the realm of endless possibility? To open yourself up to what you could never plan? Are you ready to make friends with uncertainty?

This episode is about riding the wave of our emotions. Often, we learn growing up that our emotions are not welcome. We form habits of holding them back.
Emotion is energy in motion.
With whatever is presenting in our body, in our heart, we want to ride the wave. We want to be with it and let the circle complete itself. When we feel sad or angry and we suppress as opposed to just riding the wave. Riding the wave means allowing the emotion to come up and giving it whatever space it needs.
If it's sadness, it might be just giving yourself permission to have a good cry and not putting a time limit on it, just allowing your body to fully process whatever this energy in motion needs. You might be crying for a couple of minutes, it might take longer. When we ride the wave of our emotion, we create space in our bodies. We complete the loop. We are with what is present. So that it doesn't stay with us for longer than it needs to. The energy can move whatever it needs to move. And once it's complete, we can just move on from there. That's really all we need.
When emotions come up, we don't need to understand what they are about. We don't need to make meaning out of them. We just want our bodies to be able to process them, to notice when something arises in your body, to give it the space it needs and to let it complete itself.
Often in life, we get stuck or hung up on certain situations, on certain relationships because we don't allow the cycle to complete itself. It might be that we have a certain idea of what something has to be – the same way we feel about our emotions.
We might think, I don't want to experience sadness. I don't want to feel so low. By not allowing ourselves to express that, we actually carry that with us for longer than we need to. More often than not, emotions just need a couple of seconds, maybe a couple of minutes to move through our body. It is the same with a situations or a relationship. Can we really allow it to be whatever it needs to be?
I notice myself often having ideas what a certain relationship or career move needs to be. I can focus on the outcome. I can even miss what is truly present. It isn't about the outcome at all. It's about riding the wave. It's about the process. It's about being in the moment and in that allowing whatever is presenting, whatever emotion is coming up the space that it needs. So that it can be whatever it needs to be. In doing that, we actually create the space for even more possibility than we thought there was.
We open ourselves up to an entire new dimension of what's possible, because we're not holding on to what we think something needs to be.
My invitation to you when you are experiencing an intense emotion is to be present with them. Noticing where you feel the emotion your body. Bringing awareness to it. Giving it whatever space it needs. It might not even take more an a few minutes. Give the sadness, the anger, the joy what it needs. Make room for it in your body. Let the energy move through your body. Let it clear you up. Let it cleanse you.
And maybe you can take that same intention to a situation or a relationship or a plan you want to make. Can you let it be whatever it needs to be whatever it wants to be and not make it what you think it needs it to be?
Take yourself out of the equation and watch what's possible.
Jose and I talk about just being yourself because the number one thing that you need is somebody's comfort and trust and if you're not cultivating an environment where that can happen, all that other externals don't matter. By trying to be perfect we are also subconsciously telling the person we are on a date with that they have to be perfect, too, and are not able to be present and enjoy the moment.
Jose shares that he feels like, especially for men, pornography is a huge detriment for a ton of reasons; the biggest one that there is this sense of entitlement to a woman's body. Porn will show you the visceral aspects of sex, but it doesn't show the other 23 hours of the day it takes to build that rapport.
We also get into shame around the menstrual cycle when really it holds the magic of life and creation. And literally everyone, men and women, exists because of a woman. We also talk about shame around seeing someone else naked and that it is really about feeling comfortable in our own bodies and accepting all part of us.
Jose shares his story about being brought to America from Mexico by his mom when he was 6 or 7 as an undocumented or “illegal” immigrant and how he didn’t realize he was different until it came time for him as an adult to enter the workforce.
“I couldn't wrap my head around the concept that there was such a thing as an illegal human.”
His mom got him forged paperwork, so he was able to start working… until eventually, he got caught. He got arrested and had to go through court trials and court processes. After a couple of years, the judge offered him a deal to sort out his situation in the next two years, and if he gets legal status, he would be able to stay. If not, he would get picked up after the two years and spend three years in prison and then get deported. Luckily, within the two years, he was able to sort it out, get legal status and start working. Fast forward, Jose ends up co-creating a big successful company that's international and hundreds of employees. He overcame the odds. The American dream. By that point, he feels like he has it.
But then his life started to unravel. He was in a marriage that was really great for three to five years or so. But what he didn't know at the time was that he had experienced a lot of trauma that he hadn’t healed and he wasn’t able to communicate that to his wife and to work on the relationship. Eventually, it explodes and they file for divorce.
“I realized is that this is the hardest and scariest thing that I was ever going to have to do. My divorce is the hardest thing I've ever done. And the scariest. And I've been undocumented in jail, awaiting deportation.”
Jose then moves into his friend's guest house. Not with his kids anymore. Not with his ex wife anymore. Feeling like the villain in his narrative. At his rock bottom.
“We all have the ability to decide our rock bottom. From here, it only goes up. I will not be lower than this moment ever again in my life. That's something we can all decide.”
And you can build on rock. He starts reading books, going to therapy, building a healthy routine, going outside, moving his body. Even tries to make himself such a catch and so irresistible that his ex wife will want him back. And if she doesn't, then at least he became this better man. It didn't work out with his ex wife, but he became that dude.
Jose shares the top three things he learned about himself from his rock bottom moment on: choosing his rock bottom, not playing a role in dimming a girl’s light and accountability.
Let me start with a trigger warning: When I say “feminine” and “masculine”, I'm not not referring to female and male. I'm talking about energy, not gender. I say this because this concept might feel stereotypical to you or not feel feminist – which is not at all what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about energy and energetic dynamics. If you're like me, you believe that everything is energy. Your body. The air you breathe. The tree outside of your house. The book you're reading. Everything is energy. Within these energetic dynamics, there is polarity. In Chinese philosophy they are called yin and yang, in yoga philosphy it is shiva and shakti, and in Western terms, there is the feminine and the masculine energy. We all carry both energies within us.
THE FEMININE IS A FEELING, FLOWING, BEING, RECEIVING ENERGY. THE MASCULINE IS A GOING, DOING, GIVING ENERGY.
Think about something that you experienced today. How did you show up? Maybe you had to lead a meeting at work or give a presentation. Maybe you came in, set the agenda and told the team what you want to happen. You were likely in your masculine energy – which again, is unrelated to your gender. Or, you showed up to that meeting and you said, hi everyone, I had some thoughts on this new product that we're developing, and I would love to know what your thoughts are, too. The feminine energy is more inclusive in that way. So there is two different ways to lead in the same situation.
Everybody has a core essence. You either have a more feminine essence or you have a more masculine essence. That is the most natural way for you to show up in the world. Women, people with a female body, usually, have a more feminine essence. Men, people with a male body, usually, have a more masculine essence. Not necessarily, not always, but just as a general observation.
Which energy is most present inside of you? As you go through my day, how are you showing up?
It might be a hint to your essence. However, there are also all your life experiences and what you learned to be safe in the world which also has an impact on how you show up in the world. For me, I grew up without a father. He moved out when I was about two. I had an amazing loving mom that I grew up with and that also had some interesting beliefs about men like you can't rely on men. Men make these promises, but never keep them. And because of those experiences, I developed this sense of feeling I have to take care of everything by myself. I can't rely on anybody else, especially not men. I started putting on this mask, this masculine mask and I got super good at getting stuff done. I went to law school. I'm very structured and analytical – which is more masculine as it is coming from the intellect and not from the intuition, which would be feminine energy.
Remember, there is no right or wrong. The feminine might be more intuitive and it might be very useful in some situations and in some situations it may be a lot more effective to lead with the masculine. Based on my experience and sense of safety, I put on that mask and for a long time I was living in this masculine energy. It took me being in a personal development group coaching program where I learned about feminine masculine dynamics and hearing these distinctions for the first time and it feeling true in my body. Yes, I can feel those energies in the world.
The invitation is to feel into what works for YOU and what feels best in your body, what gives you a sense of ease.
A couple of years ago, I was contemplating what name I would use for a business. Obviously, my name is Sophia. I am originally from Germany and have a very German last name. Living abroad, I found that it is challenging for people to pronounce my last name. I felt called not to use my last name as my Instagram handle and started thinking about words that have meaning to me, that make me feel good, that represent who I am. Like an artist name. Somehow I landed on “earth.” And this became Sophia on Earth.
Sophia is a Greek word meaning wisdom. Finding the wisdom in our everyday life, in our life here on earth, on this planet, in this human experience, is what we're going to talk about in this podcast.
What strikes me about “earth” is being connected to nature and to the ground. In the yoga sutras, we learn that we will live in harmony if our connection to the earth is steady and joyful. In every yoga posture, we want to firmly connect to the ground through our feet and our hands. Being on earth also means having this human experience. There's something special about being here. So, we will talk about what it means to be human and how each of us gives the human experience meaning and makes it work for them.
You will often hear me talk about feminine and masculine dynamics. We will dive into what I mean when I talk those dynamics on the podcast. Celebrating the amazing qualities of the feminine and also, to the same extent, celebrating the amazing qualities of the masculine. For me, the ladder is a really big deal. There is a lot of negative energy in the world around what men do “wrong” and how men “suck.” I'm not a stand for that. Men and women are equally amazing for the unique qualities that their energy offers. We, women, get to allow men to be in their masculine power, to take care of stuff for us, to be our heroes. I do not want to be part of this movement of emasculating men.
This is the space to celebrate the divine feminine and to celebrate the divine masculine for all that they are and for not nothing less than that.
