You might have heard of the amazing weightloss medication a bunch of people in hollywood are using. You might have already started seeing ads for it on social media, or you might know someone on them, who dropped 30-50 pounds in a short ammount.

On this episode I brought Dr. Ashley Dwyer to give you a quick rundown on the current popular weightloss treatments.

About guest:

My name is Dr. Ashley Dwyer! I am the Founder/CEO of The Big Day Nutrition! Before starting this amazing company back in 2018, I went to school for and worked as a retail pharmacist, graduating UF College of Pharmacy in 2014.

As a pharmacist, I felt I was never able to fully help my patients as much as I could. Many of the illnesses we dispensed medications for are preventable and can be managed/alleviated with lifestyle modifications and a better diet. This lead me to step out of the literal pharmacy box and venture into health coaching!

Are the cards really in our favor when it comes to health?

In this episode, I go through the uphill battle personal trainers and nutrition coaches have to fight. We're up against powerful businesses and corporations who benefit from people being misguided.

We can only change the direction we're going in if all voters come together and fight for our health and future.

We can all have our disagreements, but I think we can all agree that Coke and Pepsi need to stop getting BILLIONS of our tax dollars, every single year, while personal trainers and nutrition coaches can barely run profitable businesses.

Most people have no idea how to decipher from a good or bad approach.

This leads to people sticking to a bad approach, that normally results in them not being physically active.

I personally believe there's a connection between our inability to help people in pain, and the fact that almost 80% of Americans don't get enough exercise.

Did you know, Pain brings in MORE money than Cancer, Diabetes, and Heart Disease....Combined?!

That shows me how awful we are at helping people overcome it, and how good we are at making money.

But is that big of a deal that many people are in pain and most American's don't exercise???

I'd say YES....which is what I talk about in my new podcast episode.

In this episode, I start out with some crazy statistics and a sad story. I make the connection on how our current rehab approach leaves people broken and in pain. I talking about dying, assisted living/nursing homes, and losing your independence as you age. Which is a topic not a lot of people want to talk about.

After pointing out the problems I see in current rehab approach and where it's leading us, I go through 4 different characteristics of what a GOOD rehab approach should look like.

We all will eventually end up dealing with an injury, chronic pain, or surgery (if you haven't already), which means this podcast is for everyone!

Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique where our awareness is focused on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. With our busy schedules and technology-filled environments, we’re becoming a society that struggles with being in the present moment.

Reduced mindfulness and stress tolerance can be ones of the biggest obstacles people run into when trying to achieve sustainable results. The appearance of low motivation and lack of willpower people display is often simply because they are distracted and emotionally drained.

When your mind is constantly wandering, ruminating, and anxious, healthy behaviors such as consistently exercising and eating well can become nearly impossible to maintain, which is why a lot of behavior coaches start with clients with a meditative practice.

In this episode, I share with my clients two different ways they can start improving their ability to be in the present moment.

On the first episode, I dive into the topic of Sustainable Health. This is a topic not talked about enough, because it does not sell. It's not sexy or exciting to promote losing 20-50 pounds in a few years, filled with many set-backs and roadblocks.

Promising a 20 pound drop in 30-60 days, DOES sell....But is it worth it??? That's what I covered on our first episode.
