If you don't know something you can learn it. "Say yes to opportunities"

Christine talks to us about what she saw in Jessly that she wanted her to look at the cyber security as a career.

She continues to inspire many like Jessly to say yes to opportunities around us, to work hard, and to help others when you learn something. She is a true leader who guides and helps the team to envision success.

From Nice Job to Dream Job. From Nanny to Becoming a Security Analyst. It takes courage, dedication, and motivation to change careers. This episode is sure going to inspire you and motivate you to never give up on your dreams.

In this episode I speak to Jessly Altamirano about her journey, passion, and interests. She talks about her hometown in Nicaragua and how her upbringing influenced her career choices.

She was determined to change the biases of people who still think that lifting heavy computers is still a male's job and challenges them by equally shouldering the responsibilities. She talks about the challenges that she faced from:

  • Moving to a new place
  • Uncertainty of getting a job
  • Coming out of the comfort zone
  • Working and studying at the same time

She was introduced to cybersecurity while working as a full-time nanny by an amazing woman. Stay tuned, as she will be joining us in the part one of this two-part episode.

Have you ever felt the need to take a bus that takes you in a direction where you can meet your destiny?

Have you ever helped a stranger on the journey on a bus and felt proud?

Did you give somebody the seat to sit just right next to you so that they could feel accepted while you were on the journey on the bus?

We are all on the same journey and on the same bus but there are some decisions , some connections that we make on this journey that take us to the destinations that we are destined to...

It only takes one woman to make a difference but together we can rock the world. Today, we welcome Tash Bettridge to the show and we begin by #BreakingTheBias as we see the world through her eyes.

We believe that we can only do so much, as if our destiny was pre-defined. We restrict ourselves in becoming what we want to be.

Owning our achievements with pride takes us one step closer to believing in oneself.

Tash Bettridge wears many hats and is a fierce Maori Pacifica woman. She believes role models can play an important part for anyone; we need more in the industry that empower and encourage women around the world.

We talk about the NZNWS (New Zealand Network for Women in Security) not-for profit-group and how it helps other women to embark their journey in technology.

When life throws a curveball don't say "Why me," rather, say "Try me!" And so are these wonderful relationships that we create with time. When it gets difficult, take these experiences and grow with them and cherish them for the rest of our lives.
