I haven’t posted a podcast for a while now. I’ve been dealing with a lot of loss in my family recently, and it has caused me to fall into a bit of a depression quite honestly. I really needed to record this podcast because it helped me be able to begin to heal. I haven’t talked about it very much with anybody outside of extremely close family. Loss is never easy that is for sure. I hope that there are lessons in all of this for not just me, but for you and your family as well. #DadPodcast #DadAdvice #Grieving
I absolutely LOVE going to the movies! Check out my first ever true movie review as i give my opinion and take on the latest Mission Impossible installment from Tom Cruise. I also discuss whether or not Tom Cruise is the "last action hero" and why his movies are so good!#missionimpossible#moviereview#amctheaters#tomcruise#deadreckoning

We would all like to think our parents will never die or get older. But eventually it will be time that we have to take care of them as they did when we were children. I share my experiences over the last month in dealing with having to care for my mother in her time of need and the lessons we can pass on to our kids.#dads #dadpodcast
FAther's Day is here and we all look forward to be celebrated...but should we be celebrating ourselves or should we be celebrating fatherhood in general and remembering the father's and male role models who shaped us as fathers? Also, we delve into some of the craziness that has begotten the world in regards to the Bud Light Protest and the influence of woke ideology in our schools and media.I haven't ever got on a rant about these types of things and I am certain it wont be the last time. WE have to do better for ourselves and Our kids folks.Happy Father's Day to everyone!#fathersday #dadpodcast #dadsrock
Each year as a youth sports coach brings new challenges. Not every year. Are things going to turn out the way you want them. In this episode I share my experiences about how this year is going for myself and my young men. I also delve into some strategies as to what we can do as coaches to make sure That we are being the best we can be in the situations.#coaching#youthsports#Baseball#YouthBaseball#DadsThatCoach
What an unbelievable quote by Giannis recently after his recent loss in the playoffs when questioned about whether or not, he would consider this year a failure for the Milwaukee bucks. I think that there are parallels all around us that we can help kids connect the dots to as we are coaching them in youth sports. It is our job as coaches to do so. Often we get caught up in trying not to offend kids or their parents. Unfortunately, sometimes being forthright with them, is what is needed.#Coach #Coaching #YouthSports #YouthSportsCoach #Dad #CoachingAdvice #Giannis
He is Risen!!! Easter is always a favorite for me because it gives everyone a stark reminder that we have victory over the grave. Jesus didn't say that he died for just a few select people... no, instead he said i will die for everyone's sins and rise from the grave and everyone who believes in me will not die but have everlasting life... We don't deserve it but he did it anyway... He loves us as we should love each other!Coach Dad is in full swing. lots of bad weather have prevented me from being able to tell you guys much of what has been going on but we are officially starting our season this week and I look forward to sharing more with you guys about what these kids learn from each other, myself and my coaches... also what they teach us as parents and coached along the way!Check the video version of the podcast out on Rumble and follow us on MINDS! @thedadcodepodcast #easter #eastersunday #heisrisen #coachdad #dadpodcast
I cant believe I am having to talk about another schoold shooting much less it being in my home state and within an hour of my house... I have done videos in the past that have addressed how I think we should solve the horrifying problem of these school shootings and I echo the same solution again! When will we take this seriously and stop arguing amongst ourselves over political crap?#nashville#nashvillestrong#covenant#protectourkids#guncontrol
How do you react to criticism? Do you overreact? Do you take it out on others? Or does it drive you to make things better? Either way our kids are watching and are taking notes. They want the validation to be able to know what to do whenever we are having a bad day.
This is a very difficult thing to explain, but in a way being a coach is harder than being a dad. What I mean by this is when you are a coach that is a dad. It is 10 times as difficult to separate your emotions as a parent and your logic as a coach. In this episode, I try to break down exactly how to separate being a father and being a coach at the same time.
How do you handle anxiety? What about your kids or loved ones? Do we have strategies on how to overcome anxiety? The Bible has some wise words that SHOUDL give us all comfort!
Often at work or in building any type of organization leaders try and build said organizations on false narratives, lies, slight of hand, and exaggerations. Unfortunately for people in positions of leadership they are left with a decision of doing things the hard way and building a strong foundation for their organizations, or they can take the easier road of lying, deceiving, and misleading people in order to get the end that they desire. The problem being, that everything eventually comes full circle.
A lot of great changed to the podcast this year (2023)! I look forward to putting out more content on set days this year!
Sundays: "Sunday Morning Sermon"
We will talk about spirituality and how our walk with God affects our relationships with our kids, wives, mothers etc.
Wednesdays: "Windshield Talk"
Here we will talk about anything and everything that has to do with work, relationships, money, health-- and how all of this affects us as fathers, brothers, husbands, etc.
Thursdays: "Coach Dad"
My absolute favorite segment. Here I will address the life lessons I have and am still learning whilst coaching youth sports. These kids teach me as much as I teach them and I can't wait to share with you all. I will also hopefully set anyone's mind at ease who is considering coaching youth sports as I will also give advice on how to coach/teach these kids not just sports but life lessons as well!
Today's Sunday Morning Sermon is titled "I am not Worthy". A lot of us as fathers struggle with negative self talk and ultimately the sentiment that we aren't worthy of God's blessings in whatever form you choose to loath about. The reality is that we aren't God and we shouldn't be passing judgement on ourselves... we leave that to the one who is most worthy, the Lord our God. Getting this negative self talk under control is important folks- our kids see and hear everything. Don't let them fall into this same habit of negative self-talk.
Loneliness
It has claimed many a man's hearts and minds. It's something that plagues us all but does not have to define us. God never meant for us to be alone and doesn't ever leave us so we are never TRUELY alone as a result. But is loneliness really just remedied by just asking for and going after what we want in life? Can it be as simple as JUST asking? I think so. I share some personal insight with my son and some strategies I recently used in a teaching moment I recently had with him that I believe ties into this discussion. Love to hear your comments as well! Enjoy!
Sunday Morning Sermon Time!
I'm no preacher but these are the things that are on my heart this Sunday morning!
We constantly are saving and grinding and worrying about what TOMORROW will bring for us. We act like TOMORROW is owed to us and is guaranteed, but the reality is TOMORROW belongs to GOD. Our heavenly father knows exactly what we need and how to get us there. We have plenty of reasons to worry about tomorrow for sure with threats of war, financial collapse, sickness and plague... but we can't forget the blessing of TODAY all for fear of what tomorrow may or may not bring! God has a plan for each of us and puts us exactly where we need to be and with the people we need to be with.
Thank you everyone who has been following my situation, the prayers are much appreciated and have helped so much. Please be sure to share this message with anyone who you think could benefit from it and be sure to follow us on your favorite podcasting platform!
Wholesale Changes are coming to the show... These aren't decisions I came to lightly... I have had some life changing moments happen since I have last recorded stemming from a thyroid surgery that led to a subsequent cancer diagnosis... Its TIME.... it's time for myself and every dad I can reach to begin practicing what we preach and becoming much more than just a protector and provider... we are LIONS... we teach, we encourage, we discipline, and (yes) we protect and provide... It's time we start being more of what we want to see in the world... God put us hear not just to exist but to spread the word of Jesus... we need to appreciate the life that we have and encourage our kids to live the best life they can... I am really not sure what leads me to these changes for the show but I believe this is what this platform is meant for... I hope you will join me on this journey.... it's scary for me personally... I don't really have a plan but believe that I will be shown the way... DAD-- OUT
You know we love a good hot sauce review! But what happens when we combine a hot sauce review with a review of the All Inclusive Mexican Resort we just returned from? One word-- Awesomeness! We thank Woos! Hot Sauce for sending us all three of their hot sauces from their hot sauce line up. Three levels of heat and three levels of tastiness... how will they fair on our rating scale? Secrets Akumal was a great experience for us as a long awaited adults only get away. The service-- second to none. The food-- amazing! The people-- even better! We definitely have been chomping at the bit to review this resort ever since we returned and encourage you to check out our honest and frank opinions of every aspect of the resort experience from check in the check out... And not to put a damper on things... we thought we would go OLD SCHOOL on you and give a "Blake's Blast"... He definitely had plenty of ammo for one as he had a less than ideal experience recently with a loved one at a TRISTAR HCA facility. All we can say is.... We all want our kids to grow up being polite and productive people right? Of course we do...
What is the best way to get there in terms of how we raise them? Do we want to raise them to be timid, shy, agreeable folks who go along with everything anyone ever throws out there to them?
How do we think that will go over when they start dating? Will they leap to the first person who gives them attention and get walked all over and do it all gleefully in the name of "being in love"?
OR
How will this play out when they get into the job market when they are do for a promotion or maybe have earned a promotion but are too agreeable and timid to ask for what they have earned in the career. Will they just smile and "Yes sir, right back to work sir!"
OR
Will they make a stand... will they follow the example that we have set for them as fathers and let them know that as Dr. Jordan Peterson says, "A harmless man is not a good man. A good man is a very, very dangerous man who has it under voluntary control."
Whether we like it or not our kids are always watching and will mimic what they experience as a "FATHER"... That is, the example you set as a dad, is what they think a dad IS...
No one is saying you should be a jerk to your kids... but they should know that there's a side to Dad that he keeps under control by his own free will... but won't hesitate to let him out when he deems it necessary...
Do you want to be remembered as a "nice guy".... OR.... as a good FATHER?
The ball is in your court!

I really tried to move on from this subject. It's really not the kind of content I like to put out-- but as a father, I feel like I have to weigh in on the absurd way that this situation was handled and how I would like to see security in out schools change.
A few episodes back I did a reaction to the Uvalde tragedy and gave what I thought was a reasonable safety measure to protect kids from these kinds of events whilst the "gun debate" can wage on. I proposed that we put guards or security in or around schools. I caught quite a bit of flack for those comments both from my immediate circle of friends and from folks reacting to my video. Most of them had to do with the fact that I am not an "expert"... well... guess who is... Jocko Willink.
In a recent episode of Jocko Podcast (#338), he apparently agreed with what I suggested. Jocko!.... An EXPERT! Finally someone with sanity! Link to video below!
The fact still remains that these types of tragedies are preventable...some will argue that they are preventable if we ban guns... not realistic in my opinion and also not convinced it stops deranged people from finding ways to hurt people. I believe that guarding schools like we do other events or venues is the solution for the short term (and maybe long term). Police clearly need more training to be able to execute their duties without hesitation in these types of instances. But in the mean time I'm not sure I would be willing to give up my firearms and put them in the hands of folks like the Uvalde Police Dept who are untrained and ILL- prepared for these types of scenarios.

Reading some of the headlines out there (without getting to political) is often hard, but I try and steer clear from political crap and only point out things I find to be relevant or boarder on absurdity. I think we as Dad's have to stay abreast of the happenings in the world today and be able to formulate our own opinions based on the values we want to instill in our kids. DON'T just read the title and nothing else-- often the news organizations pick the most hyperbolic statement they can (often misrepresenting the actual facts) to get their own narrative out there. READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE and READ MULTIPLE ARTICLES. GET ALL THE INFORMATION before you form your opinion.
These things are all important and we need to have our ducks in a row for what we will tell our kids if we have to tell them that we cant afford name brand food anymore or we need to eat spaghetti again this week. OR we can't afford to go on vacation.
Our kids have really never known hardship of any kind, but I fear they will be the ones who learn about hard times through real life experience.
DADS-- make sure you are prepared... be prepared mentally, physically, and supply wise. HAVE A PLAN.
I mention MYPatriotSupply.com in the video and will be reviewing some of their products to give you guys some ideas for what's out there.

This was an episode I really had to think long and hard about whether I wanted to publish it or not... I have not ever had a medical issue in my life but have quickly learned that it is something that will rock you to your core... It made me think about some changes both to my job and people around Me's job that seem to be in "flux" at the moment. It made me think about how I spend my time and energy and whether or not it is fruitful for me to entertain being potentially taken advantage of at work... Life is Short dads... Let's make the most of it and teach our kids some healthy boundaries for our work/life balance... enjoy!

As a Coach it is voery difficult to teach kids how to win... It is even more difficult to teach them how to operate in the confines of a more hostile championship atmosphere. In this episode I detail our experience as a team in our league championship game & Oh what a game it was! I also recap my overall assessment of the year and how proud I am of all "my boys". It should go without saying that if anyone had questions about whether their kids should play youth sports, games like this one made a great case for why they should. MY BOYS showed extremely high fortitude and character in the face of great adversity. Sports are meant to teach us how to handle adversity and failure-- These are the life skills and tools we need all kids to learn! They don't learn it by sitting inside all day playing video games... They learn it by being a part of a team and learning and growing together and overcoming adversity TOGETHER! This one was a good one folks! Enjoy!
*Sorry about the Audio Someone has been messing around with the Equipment in the studio and apparently turned the Mic WAAAAAy Down.*

It has been a long hard road but we are finally here! We have earned the right to play in the championship game! These kids have made me proud all year regardless of their win/loss record. The improvement and buy in have been second to none this year and it is showing on the field. Obviously as always there are things we can work on to get better but for the most part I am VERY happy with how we played. Now on to the championship game... coaching kids to win in a championship environment is different at this age. These kids are old enough now to understand the situation and will manifest pressure of their own to put on themselves on top of the natural pressure there is in the game itself can't wait to play the game and see how we do! The game is this afternoon so we will be sure to keep you posted! #coachdad #baseballcoach #championshipgame ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a week this has been. Between the city league changing the dates for our games several times over the last week, to playing our first tournament game, to teaching my wife to shoot a handgun for the first time, to CRASHING A 10 yr High School Reunion on accident-- we have had a lot going on! Coach Dad updates include the results from our first tournament game as well as having to "coach up" an assistant coach, and more praise for how improved our boys have become over the season. If you showed up to a bar and their was a 10 year high school reunions going on there would you leave or stay and crash it? Well we stayed and oh what sites there were to see! I also give my thoughts on what I saw from watching a group of high school friends who we did not know and the lessons we can pass on to our kids or save for the right time to teach them! Check this episode out for a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!! #coachdad #togetherwecan #highschoolreunion _____________________________________ Check us out on all your favorite podcasting platforms! https://media.rss.com/thedadcodepodcast/feed.xml Check us out on Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, and Twitter! This Dad Rant was one I really debated and contemplated not doing... I don't usually comment on these types of things, but felt like as a father I had to say something about how this situation was handled by police officials and also express my condolences to the families involved. The tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas again rocks us as Americans to our core... Are guns to Blame? No, I don't think so... Was it a mental health issue? Probably... I'm not here to debate gun laws or gun control, but we have to do something to protect our kids until we as "the adults" can figure out how best to move forward. Instead of political posturing, we need to be focusing on protecting our kids. We have no problem protecting celebrities, concerts, sporting events, etc. Now we need to turn our focus to protecting the most precious among us... our kids. Do Better America.

When we try we succeed...win or lose. Whether we give our all and win and gain the satisfaction of a job well done or we lose and gain knowledge about ourselves and where we need to improve for next time-- either way we WIN. Kids often don't have to mindset that they can get better from a loss. Ed Mylett calls it "blissful dissatisfaction"... I call it the relentless pursuit of perfection... I may have inadvertently stole that somewhere along the way but the fact still remains that in order to achieve in life we have to continue to pursue excellence in sports and in life. We have to have goals and we have to have fearless goals that continue to drive us forward. #coach #dadlife #goals Check us out on Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook! Often we just expect kids to go out on the field of play (or Life) and jsut figure out how to win. But for many kids its just not that simple. We have to get our hands dirty as coaches and get in there and teach them how to manage emotion within certain situations. we don't do this by simply calling out individual players and pointing out their mistakes in an effort to embarrass them into fixing the issue. We instead have to take the time to break down the situation and use it as teachable moments for EVERYONE. The bottom line is we can't fail our kids/players by not teaching them how to win- it is a basic life skill that is learned through experience, grit, and COACHING! #coach #youthsportscoach #coachdad __________________________________ __________________________________

Pork Belly Farmhouse in Nolensville, TN.... This is a place everyone who is visiting Nashville, Tn. We weigh in on our experience dining at their establishment!
Do we ever really stop and think about how pressure affects young kids and not only their performance but their psyche as well? I think there are lessons learned particularly in situations where we have put more experienced kids in roles where they are meant to be "captains" when maybe they aren't ready for it quite yet. Also, what do you do when kids are having issues off the the field and they need to use sports as an escape? We need to provide that for these kids and be there for them with and "open door policy". Kids that continue to defy expectations and improve are something to cherish. not only do they give you positive affirmation that what you are doing as coaches is working but it also is something that should be publicly recognized to boost their psychology as well. I can't express to you how much fun I have coaching youth sports. These are just some updates on my son's 8U coach pitch baseball games. I plan on posting these updates to tocuh on some topics that always inevitably pop up during the course of the game. I really hope this maybe helps some one at some point with how i handle my kids on the field and after the games... Right or Wrong, I am sure there is something to be learned! Go Coach your kids!

This could be an unpopular opinion amongst some folks, but I am of the opinion that we cant let whining and crying creep into youth sports. There's really no place for it. Is there a "crying time out"-- NO. What would we be teaching kids if we were to allow them to just cry every time something doesn't go their way on the field??? maybe that's what's wrong with young people today? maybe they think they can jsut cry about something and they will get their way? Figures.....sign your kids up for sports and don't let them whine their way through it and cry about everything. Make sure you have a coach that will push them!

It has been a while since all three of us got on here and did a podcast! Usually when we get together we always end up talking about the good ol' days and what we liked and disliked looking back...this time was no different! On this episode we pick two Nintendo or Super Nintendo games we used to love playing back in the day and we eliminate one of them from the annals of history! Enjoy
A lot of Dads today have lost the respect that they once had. They are no longer taken seriously because they no longer take themselves seriously... THEY COMPROMISE. There is always an easy way out and it's very easy just to go down easy street and not have to think about doing what's right. But what are we telling our kids? That it's ok to be treated like crap? That it's ok to be scared to do the right thing or stand up for what's right? That it's ok not to take care of yourself once in a while?... NO MORE COMPROMISING... Do better Dads... No more settling...Stay Strong Dads. #dadrant #Nocompromise #Nosettling #thedadcodepodcast __________________________ 🎵 Song: 'Keys Of Moon - The Epic Hero' is under a creative commons license license. https://www.youtube.com/c/keysofmoonmusic 🎶 Music promoted by BreakingCopyright: https://youtu.be/ETbsXdqgcTM _____________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ YouTube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfKX3Kuu4kFZl2PR893vcDA Rumble: https://rumble.com/register/Thedadcodepodcasr/ Twitter: The_dad_code Instagram: Thedadcodepodcast Facebook: The Dad Code RSS Link: https://media.rss.com/thedadcodepodcast/feed.xml Spotify Link: https://open.spotify.com/show/1VEGme51EzibLyA7eylSE2 Google Podcasts Link: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9tZWRpYS5yc3MuY29tL3RoZWRhZGNvZGVwb2RjYXN0L2ZlZWQueG1s
I have been wanting to do a video like this for a long time now. Coaching has become something I am seriously passionate about. what does that mean? It means I stay up late at night thinking about how i can do it better. It means I am emotionally invested in the kids i coach development both as young men and players. Dads, coaching is so rewarding to both you and the kids. If you have any questions about it I am happy to answer. JUST DO IT! you wont regret it. Looking forward to sharing more about my coaching journey moving forward...the good, the bad, and the FUNNY! #coaching #youthsports #coach
