This is a platform to share spoken word poetry. Pieces are honest, transparent, and raw. All to glorify God, praying you will hear His voice and experience His love through this channel.
This piece took months to write. Most of the content has been pulled from private journal entries along with prayers and petitions to God. As a 30 something single woman, I have many questions about my future status. As I continue to seek God in singleness, I’ve learned to rest in the tension of contentment and longing. Even though I am content, I also grieve an unfulfilled desire. It’s okay to feel both. I hope this gives singles in the church a voice. Unfortunately, the church has brushed us aside in many ways, sort of like a “come back when you’re married” mentality. But single brothers and sisters, God sees you. You are important. You have value. Whether a pastor, fellow church goer or potential mate chooses to not see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Your value is in Jesus, not in marital status.
I wrote this back in 2018 and finally feel it's complete. Well, as close to complete as I can get (recovering perfectionist). This is a piece about wrestling with desires and submitting them to Christ. I talk more about what it meant to me in the beginning of this recording. Hope it inspires you!
I wrote this piece (originally a duo with a fellow creative) for a worship night. I am UNASHAMED to know, to love, and to worship...JESUS.
As I've been growing through therapy, I've been learning about my inner child. I had a very difficult life growing up and I had to grow up quick. In attempts to heal, I wrote this letter for "little Bre."
This piece is about serving the enemy with a restraining order. Sometimes we need to stand firm and remind ourselves that the enemy has NO power or authority over those that are in Christ Jesus.
This piece expresses of knowing not just the name of Jesus, but the person of Jesus. I had a very broken perspective and understanding of God and Jesus. But, when I was at my worst, He found me and my entire perspective changed.
This piece was written to an audience who was struggling with suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and many other issues. In order to cope, many individuals were using alcohol, drugs, and many other harmful substances to ease the pain. My perspective was "If you're trying all of these things and it's still not helping...why not ask God?" He can and will come to your rescue. All you need to do is to surrender and invite Him into your life.
