This podcast is all about two girlfriends who navigate their way through life, questioning their culture and the society they live in. Our purpose is to bring attention to the things in society that don't make sense to us. We will be discussing everything that goes on in a desi society from traditions to gender inequality.
This week we discuss everything related to privacy in a desi society. We complain about nosy aunties and uncles as well as share our experiences. We talk a little about how personal space and privacy are intertwined and why it may not be such a bad thing after all.
In this episode, we discuss the "ideal bahu/ daughter in law" and the way girls even today are brought/ trained to meet the "ideal bahu" standards. We also discuss the way a new bride is treated and what is expected out of her once, she moves to her husbands' house. Lastly, we talk a little about where the husbands lie in all of this.
We would like to wish you all a very Happy Diwali. Next week, we will be back with a new episode " How does one ceremony expect someone to change themselves".
In this week's episode, we discuss why divorcees are judged in our society? How are they treated (even celebrities) and why are they treated this way. How divorced women are treated differently than divorced men. Lastly, we talk about why are divorces becoming common but still is a big deal.
This week we discuss everything related to sex education. What was sex education like when we were in school or was there even one? We then talk about our experiences and what we wish we had been taught.
The week we talk about a piece of recent news we read about a girl who died because she chose to wear jeans. This led us to talk about our experiences related to wearing clothes that show skin. Lastly, we discuss the history of where it could have started from.
This week's topic was sparked by the recent events in Texas with the abortion ban bill that was passed. We discuss what we know about banning abortion after six weeks and why it's not enough. The two sides in this debate: Pro-choice and pro-life and their stances. Lastly, we discuss what are our opinions on this.
In this week's topic, we discuss everything related to being the man of the house. What does it mean to both of us? How come girls are rarely brought up to be the head of a family and how all of it is connected to finance and money.
This week we talk about why desi girls prefer to drink at home. What are they scared of and what are the consequences of drinking outside? We also share some of our experiences on how we started our own journey.
Last week we talked about periods in general, but this week we will be diving deep into all the superstitions in our community and how we believe that society is using period as a misogynistic tool to suppress women.
We wanted to commence our podcast by talking about a biological function (not an issue/disease) we face every month. PERIOD. Every person with a uterus has periods but it is rarely discussed in our day-to-day lives. Here we discuss what we know about periods and our experiences. This episode is not just for people who have periods but also for those who have no idea what it is and would like to know about it.
If you have any questions or queries about this or would like to share some of your experiences, feel free to share them with us as we would like to hear from you.
