Hooked on Wild Waters is a kayak fishing podcast hosted by Drew Gregory, who also hosts the Hooked on Wild Waters digital TV show - hookedonwildwaters.com. Unlike the polished TV show, the podcast take listeners behind the curtain, in a much more raw and real manner. Drew and his guests will discuss any number of topics; tips & tactics, the kayak fishing community, tournaments, behind the scenes discussions about each TV episode and interviews with manufacturers and discussion on the latest industry equipment.
Yes, this is a real thing, and we created it and I'm breaking it all down for you on this latest podcast. Why did we start this? How does it work? Who can enter? What anglers and tours are part of it? It's all answered in this week's podcast.

PSS, Even though we had technical difficulties and I had to do this pod on my own, huge thanks to Ken Morris (Dr. Noisewater) for helping develop this.
BASS announced earlier today that they are launching a 5-tournament kayak series for 2020. What are the details? Format? What does this mean for the other national trails? Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I cover it from all angles on this emergency podcast!
What weight chatterbait do you throw and when? Where are fish about to go in the late fall and winter? How do you slow down and control your kayak in a river? All these questions, and a little MLF/FLW merger talk are covered by Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) and Drew Gregory in the latest Hooked on Wild Waters Podcast!

Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I discuss the 2020 tournament trail schedules, focusing on KBF Pro Series, Trail Series and the Hobie BOS. I talk about where I'll be fishing next year, and why, and get into the formats, payouts and any details that we currently know about the 2020 trails. Ken explains his 2020 strategy and what he'll focus on as well. It's a long one, a fun one, and hopefully you enjoy it and we'll see you at some point on the 2020 tournament trail!
Drew and Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) are at it again. Drew shares about his latest Tournament VLOG, and addresses some of the controversial techniques that were mentioned in it: why he uses straight braid 95% of the time, why he uses longer rods, why he focuses on just being GREAT at a few techniques instead of learning them all and being just "ok" at all of them. Plus, Ken brings up a good topic about the fall transition.
The two end the show with some tournament talk and speculation about next years KBF Trail and Pro Series.

Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I talk with Matt Ball about the adventure he and I shared as we rode together in the HOWW RV from his home in Ohio all the way to Hot Springs, AR, for this event. The adventures and memories made on this trip will make you laugh, and Matt and I will be talking about them for a lifetime. This is yet another reason you want to get involved in kayak fishing tournaments like this.
Drew almost pulls off an episode without his trusty Dr. alongside. However, Drew's plan doesn't quite work out as he would have liked. Either way, the duo dives into all that went on at iCast and Drew shares a few funny stories, products he really likes and kind of gets put in the doghouse by his wife at the end of this one...it's one you don't want to miss!
Drew is back from being knocked out with some sort of virus, and he has A LOT to unpack with Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Ken Morris)! They discuss watching Eric Jackson on FLW Live fresh off his 2nd place finish on Lake Champlain. Drew gets into some of his personal feelings on working in kayak fishing full time and how he has or has not evolved as much as he feels he should. A little history is recapped about kayak fishing, manufacturers and the sort of mythical rivalry between he and Chad Hoover. The two close the show with an informative "Ask Drew" segment where Kevin Keyes writes in and asks Drew to pair his rods down to just 6 combos and what length/action they would be.
Fresh off of 2 golds and one silver medal, Drew shares the recap of the first ever Pan American Kayak Bass Championships. He shares how he caught his fish, what he thinks about the format and the future of this event. Dr. Noisewater also has a tournament story to share, as he claimed a title on Lake Erie. The duo also discuss a user question sent in by Garrett Pate, about how to catch shoal bass (or smallies) in low, clear water conditions. This is a good one, packed with good info and laughs – sit back and enjoy.

Dr. Noisewater and I are back from the history making tournament on Nickajack Lake, in Tennessee, where the FLW Tour and Kayak Bass Fishing held the first joint event. While Ken and I may not have finished as well as we’d like (and we get into that), we were able to score an interview with the winner, Bogdan Korostetskyi, and I think you’ll be impressed and surprised by some of what he has to say!
The post #16: Learn – Interview with Bogdan Korostetskyi, the 1st KBF/FLW Champion! appeared first on Hooked on Wild Waters.
We’re smack dab in the middle of the busiest season for fishing, but Dr. Noisewater and I wanted to do a quick impromptu episode to catch up on what all we’ve been up to lately, and talk a little about tournaments and what kayak fishing may look like in the future as it gets more mainstream. We also throw in a quick Yahoo at the end and have several good laughs along the way!
The post #15: Laugh & Learn – HOWW updates, tourney talk and a Yahoo w/ Dr Kenneth Noisewater appeared first on Hooked on Wild Waters.
How in the world did I finish 2nd out of 461 anglers? It wasn’t as expected as you might think. I am still in as much shock as anyone about this, but Dr. Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I discuss how we both ended up doing so well in an event that we did so poorly pre-fishing for. It just goes to show, we’re all just one small clue away from being on the right pattern that can lead to a championship! Blessed to have two 2nd place finishes, a 5th and a 16th in this event. One day, I promise, I’m gonna win one of these!

This is a “laugh” & “learn” episode, as Drew shares where he’s been finding fish lately on the rivers. Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Ken Morris) probes Drew for more great info on when, where and how to catch river bass this time of year. Drew shares a cool story about some recent podcast listeners that he ran into on the river recently. Ken also reads off a couple of “Yahoos” that the guys have a good laugh about. Hopefully you’ll laugh a little, and of course learn some as well!
The post #13: LAUGH & LEARN – Where are the fish now?! appeared first on Hooked on Wild Waters.
On this “learn” episode, Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I discuss late winter and early spring movements for river bass and how to target them. The “Ask Drew” segment is back and Drew answers one of the listeners questions regarding “how long do you keep fishing a lure until you make a change?” There is also a good bit of nonsense and an amazing analogy made by Drew regarding if you tell your wife you’ll be home by 7, you better be home by 7 or earlier! You’ll just have to listen to really understand this one…

The pod is…back! Yes, this isn’t a glitch, we have started up again and with some very cool new segments. In 2019 you are going to both “laugh” and “learn” on the HOWW Podcast. Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Ken Morris) and I explain more about these new segments and on this episode you’ll probably laugh and learn a little.

Wow, where has the last 3 or 4 weeks gone? I now know what everyone says about just trying to survive the first month after your baby is born. Good news, is that baby Theo and mom are healthy, despite his early arrival. I get into his birth story on this episode and we recap the latest on the River Bassin’ Tournament Trail with Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Ken Morris).

Rules are meant to be broken, and I feel like some of the ways I fish rivers is very unconventional, and breaks many of the “rules” for fishing. I’m not saying my way is “right” or “best” but it has worked for me. On this episode I go solo and help you visualize a couple scenarios and my theories on fishing them.

Happy #wildwaterswednesday to you all! I interviewed Jeff Little and it felt like we were barely scratching the surface as I looked and noticed we were an hour in! Needless to say Jeff will be on the pod again, and continue to break down the river bassin’ bite even more. For now, enjoy this in depth podcast and hopefully it will help you be more successful on wild waters! As always, please subscribe on itunes and follow the show and subscribe on YouTube as well!

Happy #wildwaterswednesday to you all! I interviewed Travis Von Neumann a few weeks ago about his recent trip to “in bounds” water for the River Bassin’ Open Championship. This tournament will be held in Waynesville, MO, on Sept 22nd, and should be a blast! Travis has already pre-fished in the area and had some success, and is willing to share a little bit about his thoughts on his trip and the fisheries that anglers will have to choose from. As always, please subscribe on itunes and follow the show and subscribe on YouTube as well!

Dr. Kenneth Noisewater joins me to update us on the latest fish catches and standings on the River Bassin’ Tournament Trail. So many great fish are being caught now that spring has sprung around most of the country. It’s only a matter of time until the spawn and a lot of big fish will be caught between now and June!

In this episode we get into some tips and tactics with Lance Coley, 4-time winner on the tournament trail and 2-time River Basser of the Year (RBOY). Lance and I have known each other for a long time, well before the tournament trail ever started, and in my opinion he is one of the best river anglers out there. He offers some valuable tips on how to approach the river, his favorite tactics, and I also hit him up with the new Class III Rapid Fire segment (42:24 mark) and a new Uncharted Waters segment (47:29). Then, I bring on our River Bassin’ Correspondent, Ken Morris, (103:45) to quickly give us an update on the latest tournament happenings.

In this episode I am joined by Justin Hausner and Ken Morris, as we talk a little non-sense, including what the “kayak fishing olympics” would look like, plus Ken recaps the latest tournament standings and catches on the River Bassin’ Tournament Trail.

In the first ever Hooked on Wild Waters Podcast, I introduced the podcast and why I’ve started it. I also have a nice visit with the, now former, River Bassin’ Tournament Trail Director, Noah Heck. We discuss the sport of River Bassin’, the 2018 tournaments and what he’s going to be up to in 2018. We also poke a little fun at the evolution of what it now means to be “pro staff” and answer some listener’s questions.
