Hello everyone, Welcome to the first episode of The Food Apothecary. Food that heals your soul. We are your host Anjla and Alejandro.   I hope you all are doing good and being safe out there. A warm welcome to everyone joining us  today from wherever you are in the world. Thank you for tuning in to the first episode of The Food Apothecary. Today, in my first episode, We will be talking about Turmeric. The Spice Turmeric is part of so many cuisines, especially in Indian Cuisine. I grew up seeing turmeric being used to make delicious meals in my mom’s Kitchen. I love the colour and I was always fascinated to see how there are benefits to turmeric and where it came from since it was involved in festivities, in food, in drinks. So. Let's dig into that.  1) According to page, history of turmeric, It is believed to be first found in Southern India and Indonesia. It belongs to the family of Ginger, and it was first used as Dye for its golden yellow color.  Later its  health benefits  were discovered and Turmeric started being used for medicinal purposes. It became part of Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine. Golden Milk or Turmeric latte is  a mix of Turmeric and Hot milk as well.  Alejandro, do you know the benefits of Turmeric? Not so much, I wanna know though   2) It is said to help with Alzheimer, help heal Cancer, help win over depression -  so I might as well say it is a Healing spice. Which brings me to the second and most important part of this episode which is healing. 3) How important is healing in our lives (Pause), I guess it's crucial.  Especially in today’s world, everyone is going through something. We all face failure, discouragement, and hurt. Some of us lost our loved ones, some haven’t been able to achieve their goals, some of us failed in our jobs, some of us failed in school.   3) How do we heal? Well, depends on person to person, but it all comes down to taking the time you need. We need the time to heal and get to know ourselves. It is said that time is a healer itself.  4) If you need to create some physical distance, you should. While you are taking time and practicing distance try to be mindful of your surroundings, observe what makes you feel energized and what drains your energy. Do more of what makes you feel better.  Do you think activities could help? 5) Yes, for sure. Try to pick up an activity. But if you don’t find fun in your chosen activity, please be kind enough to yourself  and choose some other activity, it is ok to keep exploring until you are finally able to smile and feel content. 6) But again, remember, baby steps are the only way towards healing. You don’t need to feel 100% all the time, it is normal to be sad. It is ok to take time to rest. Because you are the protagonist of your own life, No one is there to judge you for your growth. Plus, be realistic in your expectations when you are picking up an activity or trying to meet new people. Let’s say if you picked up mountain climbing don’t expect yourself to be able to climb a mountain in a day. I personally faced so many betrayals in my life like - fake friends, manipulative people around me. It took me 3 years to finally heal and lay down healthy boundaries. Still, I get hurt by the words of others, but I remind myself they may be projecting their own insecurities on me. Everyone is trying to do their best and the best they know how.  One more tip which comes in handy but it's so hard for me to convince myself is To Not take things personally. Do not take things personally. Do. Not. Take. Things. Personally  (Say second time with pause before every word). 8)  Keep thriving and growing in your own curb, you will reach  your goals and things you are going through will make a braver and more compassionate  person out of you. Compassionate towards yourself and towards others. 9) All in all, healing is...
