Raven
Stephanie and Kaitlyn were in junior high in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada when their miniboat, Raven KASTER, was launched on November 2018. In February 2019, Raven KASTER landed on Dookinella Beach in Achill Island, Ireland. It was always a dream to see their boat relaunched in Ireland and now that dream is becoming a reality. This podcast is about Stephanie and Kaitlyn's journey to relaunch the Raven KASTER in Ireland in 2023.
In this episode, Stephanie and Kaitlyn talk about the upcoming trip to Ireland on August 22, 2023. They discuss the trip, the events, plans during the trip and how much they are looking forward to seeing Ireland. Their conversation also leads to some hilarious moments as they joke about doing an Irish version of a scene from the Sound of Music in a white dress running through an open field, a fear of getting bit by sheep, a debate about hugging the Raven KASTER miniboat, and possibly recording their trip reflections at the end of the day in house robes at the hotel while sipping tea.

In this episode, Tom is joined by Pat Wells and Matt Murphy to talk about the three miniboats that they helped get relaunched in Newfoundland and Labrador.
First up, Matt talks about his experience with relaunching BHS Roweboat with his students at Fogo Island Central Academy. Next, Pat discusses the relaunching of HK Pride and Teal Turtle. All three miniboats landed on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland in 2021. Pat lead the project to get the miniboats relaunched. Cassie Stymiest (Executive Director) at Educational Passages supported the relaunch of the miniboats.

In this episode, Kaitlyn and Stephanie talk with Ambassador Eamonn McKee about the connections between Ireland and Newfoundland which center around the ocean. The Ambassador talks about our oceanic connections, the Raven KASTER project, his visit to our province, and our shared history and culture.
Ambassador Eamonn McKee is from the Embassy of Ireland in Canada. He visited us back in May 2022 in Conception Bay South at a luncheon held at the beautiful the Manuels River Interpretation Centre. At that time, Stephanie and Kaitlyn gave a presentation about the Raven KASTER Relaunch Project in Ireland and got to meet the Ambassador and his staff at the luncheon. We are so pleased and grateful that he supports our project and agreed to talk with us for this episode.
