The story of a Revolutionary War sunken treasure of gold coins and bullion carried by the French vessel Le Dupre, and rumored to have been sponsored by the Marquis de Lafayette while he was serving in the Continental Army.
Dupre was sunk by British warships within sight of her goal...and likely in less than 30 feet of water, off the Western shore of Smith Island, VA.
