When we surrender to Jesus we are often told what to do - Pray, Read the Bible, Share Your Faith.... but at times it's tough to know what that even means. I want to help and encourage you in your journey with Christ through reading and sharing my journey I pray your walk with Jesus would grow stronger.
We look at the idea of kingdom focus over self-focus from a few different directions in this passage and we see just how important it is to make sure our focus and perspectives are set in the right direction.

In this episode we look at redemption and what it is to believe IN Jesus. Jesus paid a price to bring us back to our created value, back to the position we were created for. That can only be entered into through belief in Jesus – but belief is not always what some may think that it is.
Scriptures referenced are Galatians 4:4-7, John 3:16-17, James 2:19-20, Mark 8:33, Luke 9:23 and Matthew 16:24.

Jesus talks in this passage about keeping our focus right. We are instructed to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. That does not mean that we forget and ignore everything else but that everything else comes in line under God’s desires and plans for us.

Ephesians 3:1-7 An Amazing Mystery Revealed!
For many years (many, many years) the Good News was hidden from the Gentiles – but God chose to make what was once hidden known to all. Not just one group of people but all that we would all be “fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel”. Everything that was promised is no longer hidden – everything we need is make available in Christ.

God has chosen to build for Himself a dwelling place. That dwelling is within His people. He could have chosen to live anywhere yet He chose you and me. We have the awesome privilege to live our lives with the Spirit of God in us that others may see His presence and find hope, love, joy, peace and the goodness of God.

When we were the ones who had done the wrong God choose to pay our price and in Jesus the innocent made peace for the guilty. In the face of so many unknowns in society and the world as a whole we can hold to this truth, “For He Himself is our peace.”

Even though we were far from God and walking in every way except His plan for us, He loves us. In His love and mercy He choose to do what we could never do – Even while we were dead in sin He made us alive in Christ. When we accept by faith what He has done it is His grace and power that accomplishes the change and transformation in our lives. Not simply marking us for heaven but transforming us that through us the world would see the goodness and grace of God.

SOOOOO much in these few verses. We see that God chose use to be adopted as sons and daughters before we were even created and even before sin entered the world there was a plan in place to buy us back from the grip of sin and separation from God. He has also given us the grace and resources to live a life that is holy and blameless (not perfect) before Him in His love.

In almost the same breath Jesus rebukes the disciples for not believing those who had seen Him after the resurrection and then sends them out into all the world to preach the gospel. We also see some signs that will follow as we go and preach/share the gospel… because the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word with signs. He will do the same for us if we would believe and step out.

At Jesus resurrection there were some who saw and believed but others that only heard and struggled to believe. It is really no different in life today. There are some that have seen the life changing power, love and goodness of Jesus and it has forever changed them and there are others that have only heard about Him and struggle to believe. But there is still hope. He can be seen today in His body IF we would surrender to Him and let Christ live through us.

Even in His death people saw that there was something different about Him. The soldier who stood by the cross said “Truly this Man was the Son of God”. Lets take some time to reflect on what Jesus accomplished on that cross because that day changed the course of history and if you will let it, it can change the course of your life as well.

As they prepared Jesus for His crucifixion the soldiers mocked him. As He hung on the cross the people and the religious rulers mocked Him. Still, Jesus stayed the course. He could have responded but He had the end in mind. He knew what the result of His suffering would be. Jesus knows how to walk through the painful times – No matter what we face, He is still our example and ours source of strength.

But what was the result???? It is better to walk in Gods plans and wisdom than to go with what we believe is the right response. Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him three times and we see that happen here. If Peter, on of Jesus’ closest followers who healed in Jesus name, cast out devils and preached with Jesus could deny Him what chance do we have? Praise God we have the Holy Spirit living in us and as we give COMPLETE control of our life over to Him then we can stand.

Jesus knew where He was headed. He had His eyes fixed on the purpose that He came for. This allowed Him to respond to the lies and accusations righteously. In conflict, adversity and trials do we have our eyes focused on the circumstances or that purpose that God has called us to? There are really only two attitudes to respond with – the attitude of heaven and anything else (the attitude of the enemy).

Jesus has some strong teaching on things in our life that cause us and possibly others to stumble and sin. Our lives are to be seasoning to those around us, Christ in us should spread life and preservation to others as well. If we hold to thing that are less than what He desires we are walking a dangerous path.
There is so much available in Christ if we are willing to walk in obedience.
