Healing. The much vaunted healing process. I know it’s important and stuff but does it have to be so annoying? Oh. And I’m happy again. Finally. Two corrections: Wayne Dyer was not the author of The Family Crucible; that was Drs by Augustus Y. Napier and Carl A. Whitaker. And of course I meant Han Solo and Indiana Jones, not Luke Skywalker.

While listening to Lewis Howe's interview with Ester Perel, psychologist and relationship expert. She described something called the Michelangelo Phenomenon in relationships. It blew my mind and caused me to think about my own relationship with the concept. Psychology Today: The Michelangelo Effect Current Directions In Psychological Science: The Michelangelo Phenomenon

Life breaks us, smashes us beyond all recognition sometimes. The process of unbreaking is hard, messy and turns us into something -- someone, completely else. But there is an art to it.

So I sing at online karaoke parties. Which sounds weirder and less of a total blast than it is. I've missed a couple of months of posting. But don't despair (yes, I know how desperate everyone is to hear my creaky singing), I'll be posting karaoke from February and March soon. I took a singing lesson...ohhhh my gosh. You'd think that would make  me better. And it will! Just not yet.

A little more night music, because I was in a yearning mood. I love sad love songs. So of course, any love song evening must include a song by Adele (i deeply apologize). This half hour set was done as part of a kind of sing-a-thon dedicated to raising funds for the club's owner. He has two puppies who need medical care and after 12 years of enjoying his place, I was really happy to join 23 other karaoke fans in putting on a fundraiser for his babies. 2020 has been a horrific year for many, one i hope he won't have to cap off by being forced to make a terrible choice between finance and his puppy companions' lives.

But love's processes, its definitions are different depending on who you speak to. In this podcast, I puzzle through my own thoughts and feelings about love and heartbreak.

I love ASMR and the far too long undersung poet, Edna St Vincent Millay. Occassionally you'll find the two brought together here on my podcast. While this first entry is pretty sad, the power and resonance of the verses cannot be denied. I hope you will agree.
