Primal Energy is developed in stages.  The first stage is to quantify substance taken in by one cycle of expansion in which the radius increases by C, corresponding to one unit of time by the master clock.  Pythagorean Allocation is first introduced in this section to partition the bundle into separate bundles of the same length but with individual cross-sectional areas.

Episode 4 explores major Deepland implications of the first two concepts described in previous episodes - primal expansion and angular location. The transformation from Flatlanders on the surface of Sphereland to Poppers immersed in Deepland  was enabled by a paradigm shift to the view that spirituality is rooted in a transcendent realm of physicality.  With just these two concepts it is possible to understand what went wrong in the initial Flatlander response to their equivalent of Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity.

In this episode, our crew of characters - Burr, Bickham, Old Billy, Paleg, and GreaPaw - work through a description of Bickham’s setup for exploring Deepland behavior. It begins with imagining a Flatlander atom on the surface of Sphereland - the balloon-like membrane of an expanding sphere.

This second episode of season 2 begins this fantasy story with its cast of inner characters:  Bickham, Old Billy (the dog), Paleg (the mountain lion), Burr (the narrator and host’s avatar) and GreaPaw (pronounced ‘gray-paw’) who brought the story into existence.  The crew tells us about Bickham’s surprising dream-travel to  Deepland, a parallel universe with inhabitants called Poppers.  Here the story begins of the five concepts of physicality and mathematics that are known by Poppers but missing in the stories of People.  This episode ends with a simple demonstration that hints of almost every one of those five concepts. Old Billy calls it the string-thing which, by the way, bears no relation to string theory in physics.

Deepland is a sequel (with a twist) to the Flatland -> Sphereland sequel of Edwin Abbott (Flatland, 1884) and Dionys Burger (Sphereland, 1965).  Old Billy especially enjoys the twist, which is revealed in this episode.

Wisdom begins in Wonder: I became excited about the mystery of electromagnetic behavior when I was introduced to amateur radio (Ham Radio) at age 15.  I was thrilled to talk to people all over the world first in Morse code, and then in voice, and I was mystified that it all happened with a kit-built transmitter, a purchased receiver, and a home-built antenna on a 50-foot tower outside my bedroom.   There were no smartphones, no internet, no home computers back then.  That is what led me into mathematics, to a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and to a career in academics and industrial practice.
