God's love is without exception. We know we're commanded to love thy neighbor as ourself, which is easy enough to do with people we already like, but what about the people who have crossed us or who are different from us? What you believe in this last day and age is the key to your success. Are you believing in how the situation around you looks, or are you believing in God's goodness and His truth? When you're consistent about praying in the Holy Ghost it makes your spirit more sensitive and you'll be able to decipher what thoughts are your own (sense knowledge) and what thoughts are actually revelation knowledge revealed to you by God.

When the roots of offense take hold in our lives, it can often grow under the surface taking on a life of its own. The Bible compares the roots of offense to those of a sycamine tree; growing deep and snarled and eventually tapping into its own water source deep in the earth. This tree is not easily uprooted, so how then are we to deal with such deep-rooted offense and hurt in our own lives?

Pain is not prejudice. It doesn't care what color you are, how much money you have, your social standing, whether you're married, single, divorced, in a blended family...it doesn't care! Any one of us can be in crisis at any given time, but it's how we act while we're in crisis that makes the biggest difference. We can get stuck in crisis when we come to church or read a scripture and think nothing has changed. We can get so caught up in our own issues while going through a storm that we forget God still wants to use us to bless others.

Often times, people are attracted to a winner - not someone struggling or who has a misstep along the way. They're not really there for you, they're there for how you make them feel because they consider you to be a winner at the moment. When we speak peace over the situations in our lives, are we speaking from the peace we have within us? When Jesus spoke over the storm in Mark 4:37 and told the wind and waves to be at peace, he was speaking from a place of peace within himself - regardless of what things looked like around him. When we try to speak something over a situation that we don't have in ourselves and we lack the faith to believe it will come to pass, we don't have the same power over our surroundings!

The thief comes to steal and destroy, but through God we have life and we have it abundantly! Jesus has come to seek and save that which was lost - meaning what was ruined, wasted, trashed, devastated or destroyed. We are living in a different season right now, full of foolishness and danger. There are so many who, especially in the last several years, have experienced devastation...but Jesus is out here looking for the lost to save them!

We know God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, but do you realize that satan is too? Satan is the same liar as he was yesterday, today, and forever. He was a liar in the beginning, and he's still a liar today. The same tactics he used back in the day are the same tactics he uses now. The sooner we recognize and remember his lies, the better equipped we are to defeat him and live a life of restoration!

When we go through difficult situations in life, we need to find a focal point; something we can focus on to bring our thoughts back to solid ground. We need to return to our awareness in God. Ask yourself, "do I love God?" and use that to bring your focus back to what matters most!

It's not about where you are right now, it's about where you're headed. When we are living where we're meant to be and walking in God's purpose for our lives, we are full. It's when we leave that place that we become empty. We may not even mean to stray from the path God designed for us, but all it takes is a few small decisions and before we know it, we've wandered away from the place we're meant to be, and we find ourselves empty. We have to seek God and return to the place meant for us in order to become full again. You may be in a negative place right now, but God has MORE for your life!

Faith can be like a pendulum in the way it swings. As much as we can be so in the light, if we let ourselves slip and swing away from the light, we can swing equally as far into darkness. We can find ourselves being pulled into things we never thought we could get caught up in. While satan isn't able to create anything, he will do whatever he can to pervert what God has made.

Hope in God: Why do we lose it mentally? Why do we lose it physically? Why do we live in discouragement? Why are we up when things are good and down when things are not? Why do we obey God when we can see the results, and don't want to obey God when we can't? Because we've lost our hope in God. Instead we put our hope in what it seems like, or what it looks like, and not in what God will do when we put our hope in Him.

When we're going through trials in our life, it's easy to be discouraged by what we see continuing to happen around us. We can feel disconnected from God's Word when we step out of church and back into the same situations we are believing to be freed from. When the world around you is throwing lies at you and asking "where's your God now?" we have to remember to continue seeking Him. As a deer thirsts for water, so should our soul thirst for God.

There are so many people who don't accomplish what God has for them because they won't get into agreement with who God said they were, and that they're valuable. Another trick the enemy will use to distract us in these last days is strife. Allowing yourself to get caught up in conflict is an easy way for satan to take our focus away from living the way God has called us to live.

We live in such an interesting day and age. Thank God for the advancements that we've made, but those same advancements have also caused issues. I'm not sure if we have an increase in crime and injustice so much as we just have more opportunity to record it, but either way, we live in dangerous and perilous times. Have you ever thought about how much confidence God must have in you to have you on the Earth during this time, during this day, and during this age? There is a reason God chose you to be alive in these last days!

We all have those times when we're going through things and it feels like God is 1,000 miles away. It seems like everyone around you is getting a breakthrough, and everything is working out for them. It's easy to feel stuck - or even forgotten. Sometimes we get caught up in what the circumstances may look like when we're waiting and waiting for our breakthrough to happen, but the key is always to have hope in God.

This week we're starting in Philippians Chapter 3, where we hear Paul talking about all of his great attributes and listing things about himself that most people would be impressed by - in the flesh. However, Paul goes on to say that everything he just listed means nothing when compared to the anointing and knowledge of Jesus. So it leads me to this question: What is most important? It can be so easy to lose focus when we get caught up in things on the outside; things in the flesh. Instead, we have to make the decision to spend time with God before we put our focus on anything else.

This week is the 4th episode in my mini series called "Free to be Me." If you've missed any of the previous episodes from the last 3 weeks, I encourage you to go back and check those out! This series is all about understanding who we are in Christ and learning to live in the full image of who He designed you to be. Last week we talked about having an attitude of gratitude and learning to be thankful for where you are. Today I want to pick up on this issue of renewing your mind. Galatians 5 talks about the importance of walking in the Spirit and not walking in flesh. Another way of saying that learning to live from a spirit-minded perspective in the image of God, and not from an imperfect human (flesh) perspective. It can be easy to get caught up in the flesh and comparing your situation to those around you, but when we take time to renew our mind in the Word of God, we can refocus our mind back to living and walking in the Spirit.

For the last two weeks, we've been talking about the subject Free to be Me and the importance of identity and knowing who you are in God's eyes. Let's talk about learning to be thankful and grateful right where you are. We already know that God created you in His image and likeness, and the definition of who we are should always come down to what God said about us and not about circumstances. Last week we spent some time talking about the children of Israel and how their mentality and mindset kept them from the full promise of God. They became complacent and unable to be grateful for the miracles God performed for them. In order to avoid becoming complacent in our own lives, we need to practice having an attitude of gratitude!

This week I'm continuing on the subject of "free to be me," or in other words, the importance of your identity and knowing who you are. You are constantly creating a world around you that's indicative of what you believe about yourself. Proverbs 23:7 says, "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." As an example, we'll look at the story of the children of Israel and how after years of slavery to the Egyptians, their own mentality is what held them back from experiencing the blessings God had in store for them. Even after all the miracles they witnessed as Moses was sent to free them, they still saw themselves as slaves and not as children of God.

One of the things Jesus died to give us was the freedom to be who He called us to be. There are so many of us who are living a life below what God created us to have simply because we're not really, truly, being ourselves. Sometimes we get caught up in this idea and get defined by things that really have no business defining us. By not living as the person God created us to be, we can end up placing limits on ourselves that are not in line with God's plan for us.

Let's talk about the importance of recognizing satan's tactics. One of the things I find most important for us to understand as we continue in our walk of faith is to realize the tactics of the enemy are the same they've always been; they haven't changed. Satan is always looking for ways to trip you up, but sometimes it's not those big obvious things. Sometimes it's the little subtle things!

For the past two weeks, we've been talking about not forgetting. No matter what is going on in our lives at the moment, we can't let ourselves forget the promises God made, and who God is to each of us. He's our loving Father! So today, I want you to not forget who YOU are. God knows you; He knew you before your mother met your father. He knows the good, the bad, and He knows the ugly, and He still chose you. That's who you are!

Sometimes we don't listen or are not as open to God because we haven't taken the time to understand or even know God on an intimate level. In order to really know someone, we have to understand their character. When Jesus walked the Earth, He proudly proclaimed Himself, not only as the Son of God, but also as a son of man. He says in His Word that there isn't anything that we go through that He can't relate to or can't understand. How amazing is it to know that He isn't just Lording over us, but walking among us and along side us in our struggles.

When we're going through situations or seasons of life where the pain, the drama, the hurt, the disappointments, are so real it can be easy to forget what the Lord has already said to you. In Matthew 26, leading up to the crucifixion, Jesus prepared His disciples for what was to happen. He told them He would die, but on the third day He would rise again. But in the midst of the torture and in the dark days leading up to Jesus' return, His disciples forgot what He told them! Instead, they were filled with hopelessness and despair. Even in the darkness, we have to remember what God told us - He who started a good work in you shall complete it.

God created each of us to have a purpose, and I think sometimes as human beings we get stuck in competition and comparison. As a result, sometimes we belittle our own purpose. Have you ever looked at the path someone else is on and felt what you're doing isn't as important? Listen, God has more planned for your life than you can even imagine, but you have to walk the path He set out for YOU in order to get to where you're meant to be!

One of the biggest mistakes that satan ever made was crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ. #Oops! Evil was celebrating thinking they've won, until the third day when Jesus rose again. As the scripture says, had they known that by crucifying Jesus, not only would He rise from the dead, but because of His sacrifice, millions of His followers would rise with His power and authority. Instead of defeating Jesus, he empowered him! I call that a #Oops!

Thoughts are the foundation that your life is built on, and eventually, if you let that thought stay in your mind it will become an action. Soon, your actions become habit, and those habits become part of your character. Your character then determines where and how far you go in life, but it all starts with the thoughts you allow to stay in your mind and what you do to control those thoughts.

Today, and over the next few podcasts, I want to talk to you about an issue that we all deal with. Something - that if you don't overcome - can ruin your life, steal your joy, and steal your peace. That is...anxiety. Anxiety is worrying about and being fearful of what's in the future. The two words that tend to stick out when we talk about anxiety are "what if?" But the wonderful thing about God is He has laid out in His Word the ways in which we can live a victorious life. The word "victorious" can mean more than just having all we want in life. We can have everything we want and still be unhappy. Why? Because we're too busy worrying about what's coming next. Let's talk about a few ways the Bible shows us how to overcome our anxiety.

When we deal with other people, we are bound to deal with conflict from time to time - but let's talk about the source of conflict. In James chapter 4, the Bible talks about the source of conflict coming not from those around you, but from an inner lust. Now, lust does not only have to do with sexual sin in some way, but really just anything that you put higher than your need for God. The need for company and to not be alone can be elevated to a place of lust when it outweighs your need for God. Do you have any conflict within yourself to resolve before you can have peace with those around you?

We've all been there! We've all had a day where everything seems to go wrong. We may not be able to stop those days from happening, but we can always choose how we respond to them. The first tip I want to share is this: DO NOT LOSE CONTROL! Don't let your emotions take over the rest of your day. When you make a choice to glorify God in the midst of your struggles, you open the door for His blessings!

This week, we're getting back to the basics of trusting in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5 says, "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not into your own understanding." Trust God no matter what you're hearing, seeing, being told by others, or even what you're telling yourself. God is able to do abundantly more than we can ever imagine, so we can't let what we see in the natural hold us back from what God is capable of in the supernatural. Trusting in the Lord is necessary to live a life of peace. What area in your life do you have trouble accepting what the Word says about it?

How many of us are stuck in a place that's lower than what God has for us because we're afraid of the unknown? To be able to be open to the blessings God has for us, we have to be willing to take a step of faith. God knows what each of His children need, but we have to be willing to step out and obey!

Sometimes we have some people say that they are for us until something better comes their way and they flip the script. They find somebody better, look better, sound better, preach better, etc. and they’re gone. Sometimes we miss what Satan is trying to do because we’re waiting for some big moment and don’t recognize how subtle he is. You have to be careful and guard your heart. Humble yourself first so that you can experience God’s grace.
Sometimes when you're in a season of difficulties, it feels like it will never end. But, you have to remember that it is a temporary situation. It may have come to destroy, but it has also come to go. The only thing that is permanent in this life is God and His promises. A season, depending on how you look at it, should produce a hope in your life, rather than a permanent decision to stop living you life. If they’d keep their shield up, they could forge ahead and eventually have a victorious comeback. It was their perseverance that caused them to win.

Circumstances are going to arise no matter what. So, you may as well decide to stand on God’s Word regardless of what’s going on in your life. Be intense about your intentions no matter how you feel and no matter what the devil does. So, put your trust and confidence in God. His way may seem a little crazy, like praising Him in your darkest hour, but go ahead and do what He says in His Word. God is the ultimate business man and when He shed the blood of His Son...He purchased you! It's so easy to feel unworthy of God's love, but not only does He love YOU, HE BELIEVES IN YOU! He took a deeper look into all that you are and are not, the good, the bad and the ugly and HE STILL CHOSE YOU and He did not have to! God has confidence in you and that's why you can make it! Everybody has a past, but the question is...does your past still have you? I don't know all the things you've been through or have had to overcome, but I do know that you're still here. YOU made it.....and if you made it....then it's time to get double. God has so much more in store for your future even if you are the one who messed up in your past! YES HE DOES! Get out of the sludge of the past and dive into the great grace of God. I dare you to start believing what He says about you instead of what others have done to or said about you. Have you ever just felt overwhelmed by all that is going on around you? Have you ever just wished you could yell STOP and all the drama would just go away? I know I have. I have been preaching for over 20 years and have often referenced II Timothy, chapter 3 when it talks about how dangerous the world would get in the last days, but these last couple of years, that passage of scriptures carries even more umph watching what's going on in the world today. God is not caught off guard or ill-equipped for what we are facing today. I think God does some of His best work when things get hard but you have to have a good focus! Instead of getting lost in the circumstance, keep your eyes on the ONE who has ALREADY made a way out of no way for you....JESUS. Watch this week's video to help sharpen your FOCUS.
Boundaries aren't always fun. You know it seems that it would be so much more fun if we could just do what we wanted, when we wanted, without consequences, at all times, lol. I think my 2 year old feels that way as I hover over him stopping him from destroying the house and hurting himself. If you were to walk into my house and tried to use one of our plugs to charge your phone, you would have to remove those little plug protectors first. THey are everywhere and it was a pain to install all of them but we did it anyway. WHy? Well, simply because we love our son and thus created healthy boundaries (aka baby proofing) in our home to help steer him in the right direction and away from trouble. God is our loving Father and He also has provided boundaries for us not because He's trying to take away our fun, but because He loves us. God always has your best interest in mind, so trust Him. His provisions and grace are available to you to help you bounce back from any obstacle that life brings your way. His path will not only lead you out of trouble but into the promise land He has for you which is greater than you can ever imagine. Trust Him.
With so much going on in the world today, it is so important to mind your thoughts. Did you know that you don't have to receive every thought that comes into your mind? God has actually given us the ability to control what we allow to resonate in our hearts and our minds. It has never been more important to make sure that you purposefully keep the truths of God's word in front of you. What you think on most, you will produce, so place your focus on what God's Word says about your situation and not on what the circumstances are saying. With God, you can overcome any challenge that may come your way. He will never leave you nor abandon you. When things get tough do yourself a favor and up your time renewing your mind to the promises of God that are rightfully yours through the blood of Jesus. Don't waste His sacrifice by believing the lies of the enemy. YOU WILL WIN! Say that everyday and remember GOD has a comeback plan with your name on it!
We have all dealt with setbacks in our lives. Chances are you've dealt with many from financial, relational, situational and even health. Satan is busy doing his best to shut us down, BUT GOD. Anytime you feel tempted to give up and quit or lose hope that brighter days are coming, remember this: When you are child of most High God and you walk with Him, every setback is an opportunity for an even bigger COMEBACK! God can and will take what was meant to destroy you and elevate you! Watch this weeks message to be encouraged to not only keep going but to thrive even while in the midst of the storm!
You may have doors closing seemingly all around you, but you know with God that does not have to be the end of your story. I love the story of the 3 Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego! Talk about a closed door. These guys were sentenced to death by FIRE simply for doing the right thing -- obeying God. When it came time to toss them into the fire even those who threw them in were killed by the very heat alone. I'm sure it looked like the end for them, but Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego knew something that I would like to remind you of today: Closed doors can equal open heavens! God wants to pour Himself out to you even in your time of despair! Don't give up and don't quit! No man/woman, circumstance or situation can stop the purpose of God on your life IF you don't let it. Here is some good news for you. God is long-suffering! Can you imagine how much trouble we would be in if God had a short fuse with us? What if He gave us just what we deserved every time we messed up? Thanks be to God that He is gracious and merciful towards us. God loves you and wants to be in relationship with you despite what mistakes you have made.
David finds himself in trouble. In his time of need and lack, God went back from a previous harvest, got for David what was needed in the future. The same harvest that was set aside from the time during the fall of Goliath, because David himself yielded to the Lord, is like the gift that keeps on giving. God can take that same harvest and let that harvest keep giving and giving. Allow God to use your life the way He used David’s life. Psalm 37 talks about steps of a righteous man ordained by the Lord. If you want a good harvest, you have to go back and sow a good seed.

God knows all things! He knows what we’re thinking! God who knows all things including your situations, has an expectation for you to come out. He’s always preparing for your future. The one who counts and matters is expecting and preparing a future beyond whatever is it you’re walking through right now.
Despite whatever challenges you may be facing, let's remember to keep Jesus in that number one position and watch Him take you to higher levels than you could even imagine and you will experience true fulfillment which only comes from God.
