Episode 45:  Not too long ago, I did a 3-part series on the podcast called “Is Priesthood even a thing?” Fully expecting to become an outcast, I was surprised to find a mostly positive response. Those videos became by and far the most popular videos I have done. The purpose of this episode isn’t to capitalize on the success of those videos. I genuinely feel that the series is fairly thorough. However, since putting out those videos, I’ve had quite a few conversations on that topic with folks. While the responses have been mostly positive, I know there are those who think I’m deceived. It raised an alarm with a couple of people from the church organization I have been a member of since I was 18 years of age. As time passes I continue to receive additional insight by way of the Spirit. And because of that, and from some of the discussions I have had with people, I began to realize that I may need to briefly touch on this topic for the sake of greater clarity.

Let's talk about a Gathering this summer of all those who are awakened or awakening to the truth that we must come not to an institutional church, but unto Christ. A gathering of people coming together with one heart and one mind. Their unity was not according to a creed, or centered around a leader, or an earthly organization. Instead, their unity is by way of Christ alone, according to the workings of the Holy Spirit.

Episode 35: This is the third and final episode of a 3-part series on the priesthood. In this video, we'll talk about the Aaronic Priesthood, corruption to the Pentateuch by additions made to the text from the Priestly group, how Lehi and his family left before these changes, and would have taken their knowledge of the Torah from the Brass Plates, and its implications for us today. Finally, we'll conclude the series, and look to the future of the Body of Christ.

This is part 2 of the series. When the Lord first revealed to me that there was a problem with our concept of priesthood, I did what I always do. I set about asking the Lord many questions. I studied the matter out, looking at the scriptures. I conversed with trusted friends. I did all of this, because long ago, I learned that when God is trying to reveal something to us, or if we are desiring to better understand something, the Lord expects us to put some work into it. He expects us to fully study these things out. He expects us to prove His words and seek for understanding. And this is an important part of our stewardship. Please do not take my word it, but study the matter out for yourself and ask God.

Podcast Episode 33: Is Priesthood Even a Thing? Part 1. This is a provocative title, I realize, but I hope you’ll bear with me as we examine this topic together. This has been a long time coming. It might have happened sooner if only I hadn’t been so thick-headed. The Lord has been laying it all out for me, step by step, but regardless of how willing I was to hear what the Lord had to show me, my own understanding got in the way. Our mindset (as human beings) will often frame the context of both the question and the answer when seeking understanding from God. We tend to interpret both within the framework of our tradition or understanding. Some traditions are easier to overcome than others. What I plan to share with you is fairly huge in scope and in its implications, so we may need a lot of grace and two or three episodes to walk through it all.

This episode is a short one, being the week of Thanksgiving, but we follow up on the previus episode with comments from a couple of listeners, and talk a bit about how God must go to great effort sometimes to get us to the point where we can finally receive a truth that He wants to show us.

I have observed that people in this world are not only becoming more and more divided, generally speaking, but more and more fearful as well. Even many Christians have become fearful or angry. Some act like nothing matters because they believe they will be raptured away. Many spread fear through their public ministry when they speak about the last days.

Today we’re going to talk about how we are instructed in the Book of Mormon to do something that (if you think about it) many of us probably think is nearly impossible to do. I’m speaking about the idea that we should pray without ceasing. Can we pray without ceasing? And if it is possible, what does that even look like?

For today's episode, I would like to return to a subject previously discussed in episode 14 entitled: Jesus said, ask them who I am. The subject of that episode was the Godhead, with a particular focus on Christ. The subject of the GodHead has been on my mind a lot this week. There is so much more that could be explored on the topic. What I am about to share certainly won’t be the entirety of the rest of the story, because I can only share what I have been shown. So for the rest of the story, we will ultimately have to go to God. And it may very well be that we will end up spending eternity probing the depths of His nature. But I do hope that the additional information shared in this episode will help begin to fill in some important gaps left from the previous episode, which will show aspects of both the triune nature of God, as well as His oneness.

Today’s topic came by way of emails I have received from listeners who are questioning the validity of their own baptism. Some do so because they now question the institutional church, believing it to be in apostasy. Some because they got baptized when they were only 8 years old, and didn’t truly understand the nature of the covenant. Twice I was asked if there is anyone today who even has authority to baptize. Today, I would like to simply share some truths I believe to be universal in regards to the question of baptism and authority. And then you can go to the core scriptures, the Bible and the Book of Mormon, to lay a foundation, and then ask the Holy Spirit to give you the specifics of your situation and your desire to be right with God.

Having been born and raised in the RLDS church, I recall a conversation I had with a friend of mine when the split came over women in the priesthood in the 1980’s. We were just in high school then. His family firmly sided in favor with the new direction the church was taking, but since my family and congregation were firmly rooted in a fundamental conservative view of the scriptures, I had serious questions about the recent revelation from the leadership of the institution. For those who are not aware of that history, that revelation would ultimately cause a split in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But where is the truth. How does God look at the ministry of women?

William Shakespeare wrote: “What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.” Many believe the name of Jesus to be a sweet sound indeed, and many songs have been written about the name of Jesus. But what power is there in a name? And is Jesus even His real name? And what would it mean if it isn’t, especially in light of Acts 4:12 which states that “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” These and other questions will be covered in today’s episode, so fasten your seatbelts and check your pockets to make sure you don’t have any stones to throw my way, and let’s get started.

I have heard it said that “Before the truth can set you free, you need to recognize which lie is holding you hostage.” But sometimes it is the truth that is spoken or read, which exposes the lie currently holding us hostage, and it is at that point that we have a decision to make.

Today’s topic is a fun one for me, and hopefully something of interest to you. This should be a faith-building episode. There will be testimonies. But let’s begin by asking a few questions about how we have viewed or handled the topic of Zion, historically speaking.  One of the foundational  teachings I emphasize is that God said He would establish His word (or His truth) in the mouth of multiple witnesses. A topic that received heavy emphasis in the early church was the concept of Zion. Joseph Smith gave us a witness of Zion, but are there other witnesses that Jackson County Missouri (and surrounding area) is to be the place designated for the gathering of the lost tribes and the place of the New Jerusalem in the last days?

This is episode 18 of the podcast, the end of a 3-part series on David Whitmer’s Address to All Believers in Christ.

David Whitmer: Voice from the Dust - Part 2. Today we’ll be looking at the second part of Whitmer’s letter, which is addressed to all those who claim to believe in the Book of Mormon. I use the word claim, because Whitmer effectively makes the argument that most who say they believe the Book of Mormon, are not truly following what it tells us.

Episode 16 entitled: David Whitmer, Voice from the Dust - Part 1. Whitmer would become the most interviewed of the Three Witnesses, who had an angel appear to them and show them the Book of Mormon plates. And though he left the church, coming to understand and testify that Joseph had begun to make many errors soon after translating the Nephite record, he valiantly defended the Book of Mormon itself, in interview after interview, even until his death.

This is episode 14 of the podcast, entitled: Jesus said, “Ask them who I am.”  In Matthew 16, Jesus asked his disciples who people were saying that he was. After giving him various answers, Jesus then said: "But what about you? Who do you say I am?" This is an important question, one that each of us must answer.

This is episode 13 of the podcast, entitled: Priesthood as a Form of Idolatry. As you can probably deduce by the title of this week’s episode, the subject matter may be a sensitive one for many. As a people, our notions of priesthood and authority are important to us, and to ask questions on that topic may be to open the proverbial can of worms. But consider this. If facts about church history or questions regarding the church and its traditions can destroy our faith, I would think then that our faith was in the church or in men, and never truly in Christ where it belongs. There's only one true foundation. Everything that can be shaken, will be shaken. Let us stand on Christ alone!

This is episode 12 of the podcast, entitled: Book of Mormon Prophecies that Came True. We will focus on three prophetic statements found in the Book of Mormon. I don’t think too many people really think very deeply about these prophecies, because they have already come to pass and been the reality for the entirety of our lifetimes. Therefore, we imagine these prophecies to be rather obvious, without really stopping to consider how they were absolutely uncertain and could not actually be known in Joseph Smith’s day.

This is episode 11 of the podcast, entitled: The Plain and Precious Doctrine of Christ. more and more, I see how the Spirit of the Lord is moving in the minds and hearts of people, across the various denominations that trace their origin back to Joseph Smith. We are discovering that our faith had previously been in Joseph Smith, or in the church, but the Holy Spirit is revealing that if our faith is in these things, then we are in for a painful time as that house of cards begins to collapse. More and more, Mormons are losing faith not only in the church, but in the Book of Mormon, and often the Bible and even Christ or the belief in God altogether. This reveals that their faith never was in Christ, but rather in the church. But I praise God that many people are now beginning to be delivered from this form of idolatry. Recognizing that cursed is the man who places his trust in the arm of flesh, they place their faith instead on the ONLY foundation that cannot be shaken, which is faith in Christ alone.

This is episode 10 of the podcast, entitled: Our Wilderness Experience. Many feel frustrated at the present condition of the church, whether it be LDS, RLDS (Community of Christ), Church of Christ (Temple Lot), or other groups and independent congregations of the Restoration. There are many good people out there who feel like they are wandering aimlessly through some kind of spiritual desert. And they wonder how long will this continue. Brothers and sisters, I have experienced this same frustration in the past, and I would submit to you that the reason for our frustration, I beleive, is that while we have learned how to predict the weather, we still haven’t been able to discern the signs of the times in which we currently live. God is still at work, more than ever, but many of us simply have not recognized it because our focus has been in the wrong place.

Episode 6: There Came an Enemy.

In 2019, I was driving to work when the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I had been contemplating the discrepancies I appeared to be seeing between what Jesus taught, and the teachings of the church. Quoting from a parable of Jesus, the Holy Spirit said:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.”

I silently waited, wondering why the Lord had quoted this parable to me. And then He spoke again saying, “This is the story of the Restoration.”
