Today’s study is our last one in 1st Timothy, and we discuss the charge Paul gave Timothy to instruct the rich not to be high‑minded or trust in uncertain riches. We should rather trust in God who gives us all things richly to enjoy. He stressed our need to do good, be generous, distribute to those in need, and communicate our blessings, which lays a foundation for eternal life. We should also keep what is committed to us, avoiding profane and vain babblings, while rejecting false knowledge, because some have erred from the faith over these things. In today’s episode, we discuss Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:25-32, beginning with how reconciliation is an urgent thing because unresolved anger leads to divine judgment. Then we tackled the topic of adultery which took us to lust and the sin of coveting. We then move on to the topic of divorce, emphasizing that God hates “the putting away,” of divorce because it results in adultery. In today’s episode, we ask the question: Do you love money, or do you have faith?Paul didn’t warn about possessing wealth, but he did warn against desiring to be rich. He rebuked people who chase after riches, those guilty of having the “love of money.” These desires lead to “temptation, snares, and foolish and hurtful lusts. These are the things that drown men “in destruction and perdition.” Loving money causes believers to “err from the faith” and “pierce themselves through with many sorrows,” while true men of God must flee these dangers and pursue righteousness. In today’s episode, we talk about Paul’s warning that anyone who “teaches otherwise” and rejects wholesome, Christ‑given doctrine is a false teacher. False teachers are known by pride, ignorance, sly questions, strife, envy, railings, and corrupt thinking. Such men are destitute of the truth, driven by covetousness, and they also must be avoided. Paul contrasted their greed with true gain which is godliness with contentment. We brought nothing into this world and we won’t be taking anything out. In this episode, we discuss why Paul told Timothy to “use a little wine,” and that leads us to talk about water quality, medicinal use, Greek wordings, and Timothy’s stomach issues or anxieties. In today’s episode, we discuss what Paul meant when he said that younger widows had cast off their faith. Once they did this, then they became idle, gossipy, and meddlesome… sounds like a great group of women, huh? Some of them were possibly even involved in “curious arts.” Paul commanded the younger widows to remarry, bear children, and guide the home to avoid reproach. We stress reading the scriptures in their proper context and applying them accurately. We finish by debating whether the “elders” of verse 17 are older widows, elderly people, or ministers. In today’s episode, we present the argument that 1Tim. 5:8 is commonly taken out of context and misapplied to lazy husbands. The truth of the matter is that Paul is speaking to the men who refuse to take care of widows and refuse to support them. In today’s study, we discuss how “elder” refers to older men, and not ministers. Paul said to treat them “as a father” and then he addressed ministers that he also referred to as elders later in v. 17. In this study, we talk about Paul’s beautiful wording of speech with grace, and seasoned with salt. Today, we embark on a journey through Colossians 3, and we look at several things. We are to set our affections on things above, not on things here on this earth. We are dead to the world, and our lives are hidden with Christ. Christ is our life, and we will appear with Him in glory. Because of all these things, we are to mortify the members of our bodies, which means to put to death. Today, we look into the part where Jesus appeared to the disciples again, and this time Doubting Thomas was there. She didn’t find Him there, so she went and told Peter and John, so they all came to the tomb. We discuss their confusion and worry, Mary’s encounter with the 2 angels, and how she saw the Lord Himself. He asked her why she was weeping, and at that point, she just thought that He was the gardener. She was so excited, so ran back to the city and told the disciples. That evening, Jesus appeared to several of the disciples, but Thomas was not among them that night. Today, we watch in horror as Pilate charged the soldiers to scourge Jesus, then they platted a crown of thorns and put it on His head. They put a purple robe in Him and mocked Him, smiting Him with their hands, and then it got worse. The chief priests cried: Crucify Him! The crowd began to chant the same thing, and this got Pilate a little nervous, and he seemed to try to release Jesus again. He finally turns Him over to their desires, and they led Him away to Golgotha. The crowd came to get Jesus, and then they took Him to Annas and Caiaphas, and then to the hall of Judgment. This is where Pilate comes into the storyline, and we watch as he seems to try to help Jesus, and he even ventures so far as to say that after examining Him, he found no fault in Him. We all know that he will eventually give the Jews what they want, but before he does, he spends some time in the Presence of the True King. In today’s study, we discuss the part where Jesus told the disciples that the world would hate them. He said it is because they hated Him first. He also said that if they hate Him, they hate the Father also. He then consoles them by reminding them that He will send the Comforter to them, and He will testify of Christ. He then told them how they would face persecution, and people would do these things believing they were doing God service. We also talked about what all of this means to us today.

Satan entered the heart of Judas, and then Jesus told him to do what he was going to do quickly. As Judas left, Jesus expounded to the remaining disciples of how they should love one another. In today’s study, we slip into the room with the disciples and Jesus as they partake of the Passover. This meal is also known as the Lord’s Supper, and during this evening, many things began to happen. The Lord gets down and begins to wash the feet of the disciples, and then Judas leaves early to go betray Jesus. All throughout this evening, Jesus gives several hints at who will betray Him, and how He will die. He taught the disciples and us the need to have this supper in remembrance of Him, and the humility of being willing to wash one another’s feet. In today’s study, we open with Jesus explaining to the people His relationship to the Father. He gave them the perfect picture of how He would save lost souls when He said: And I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me. In today’s study, we begin on a good note, for many of the Jews began to believe on Jesus after He raised Lazarus from the dead. This caused the chief priests and Pharisees to get together and conspire of how they could get rid of Him. Interestingly enough, the wicked Caiaphas prophesied to the group, and then they all began to get ready for Passover. Jesus is eating with His friends from Bethany, and then a woman comes in and anoints Him with some costly ointment. This riled some people, and things are about to really get going. As Jesus observed everyone weeping and crying over their loss, Jesus asked where they had buried Lazarus. They took Him there, and then Jesus began to weep too. The Jews were amazed that He wept, and then they began to reason among themselves whether Jesus could have done something if He had been there. They got to witness firsthand what Jesus could do, for He did something no one else had ever done before! He called Lazarus from not only the tomb, but from the dead. In today’s study, we are introduced to a sick man named Lazarus, who has 2 sisters, Mary and Martha. They sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was very sick, and then something odd happens. Jesus finally arrived… 4 days late, and Lazarus is already in the tomb, and mourners are everywhere! Jesus claims to be the Good Shepherd, the Door, and the only Way for the sheep to make it in. He teaches against the false shepherds, strangers, thieves, and robbers, while describing all of them. In today’s study, we finish looking at the man who was born blind, that Jesus healed. The leaders were so tore up about this, they brought the man’s parents in to question them. They asked them if this was their son, if he was born blind, and then they asked them how was he able to see now. They feared the Jews, and feared being cast out of the synagogue, so they made their son speak for himself. He gets a little upset, and he tells them that he doesn’t know much about the One who healed him, but he does know one thing: I once was blind, but now I see! Tempers flared after this, and we cover many aspects of what happened. In our Q&A segment, we were asked the following question: What are your thoughts on Zech. 14:12?

They told Him that Abraham was their father, and Jesus totally annihilated their claims. In today’s study, we take up where we left off last Friday concerning whether there are other gods or not. We discuss what Paul taught concerning this, and it led us back to Genesis and how we are made in the image of God. We also talk about the Divine Council of God and how it was similar to what was found at Ugarit. We then looked at how these council members have some kind of say in the affairs of life, such as the watchers of Daniel. To believe that someone could or would betray Christ is hard to imagine, but one of the ones closest to Him did just that. Jesus knew from the beginning that this would happen. Many of His disciples turned to walk with Him no more in this same setting. Jesus said that He chose the 12, but He knew that 1 of them was a devil, and then John quickly states this was said of Judas. Jesus asked the other 11 if they would go away, and Peter gave the best answer anyone could have ever given. In today’s study, we give an overview of a couple of things. First, we discussed the topic that we have been digging into for the past several weeks: idolatry. We talked about the way Israel struggled with this, and how they finally caved in to pressure and worshipped false gods. In today’s study, we look at how Jesus described John as a witness, and as a light. He went on to explain that the Father bears witness of Him, as does the scriptures. Jesus told these religious hypocrites that they needed to search the scriptures, for they only thought they had eternal life. Jesus said the scriptures speak of Him, and it is evident that they proclaim Him loud and clear. Our Lord finished up this chapter by asking them how they can believe His words when they have never truly believed the words of Moses, their favorite prophet. In today’s study, we continue looking at the story of the man laying by the Pool of Bethesda. We talk about some serious issues within this text, what really happened, and what it all means. Jesus told the man to sin no more lest a worse thing come upon him, and we believe that is good counsel for us today. The Jews got together and began plotting to kill Jesus after this, for several reasons. He healed this man, He healed him on the Sabbath, and He also claimed to be equal with God.
In our Q&A segment, we were asked the question: In Is. 20, God instructs Isaiah to go naked for 3 years. Do you think this actually happened? Or do you know some reason we can believe it was metaphorical? I know God would not ask His people to do such a thing now, but maybe God was just being radical to get a message across.

In today’s study, we extended our study of false gods with one of the most well-known ones. Bacchus has been the subject of many a book, self-help group, and has had multiple movies made about him. If he isn’t known by name, he is certainly known by the sins that are associated with him. He is the party god, and his followers love drinking, partying, and having orgies in his honor. We expose how deceptive Bacchus is, and then we compare and contrast him with the Lord. There is no doubt that Bacchus has many followers, but our God is by far the greatest.

In today’s study, we finish John 4 and then we enter into John 5, and the storyline is full of exciting things. As we end chapter 4, Jesus goes back into Cana of Galilee, and there He meets up with a Nobleman. This nobleman has a servant that needs immediate help, and Jesus doesn’t fail to come through for them. As we enter into chapter 5, we see a familiar scene… There is a man laid by the Pool of Bethesda, who is awaiting a chance to be healed of his 38-year-old infirmity. More of Jesus and less of me means that we must decrease. If more of us could look at things like John the Baptist did, we would be better people, our churches would be more Christ-like, and we would probably see more souls saved. In today’s episode, we cover something that we have looked at before, but we dive in deep with this episode. We believe that idolatry is the most common sin of our day, despite the fact that most people in America consider it to be only a sin of the past, or of the heathen peoples. We try to expose this awful sin by linking specific sins with the gods that were known for those sins. I am afraid there are many people who entertain elements of these sins, and that means that they also entertain the spirits of these other gods. The end result is idolatry in 2023.

Jesus told Nathanael of things only He would have known, and it was convincing enough, he believed on Him. In today’s episode, we were asked an intriguing question that we hope provokes you to think: Sometimes I worry about how Jesus might consider me, is this something that I should worry about? Our answer to this question is yes and no. We should allow that thought to help us live honorably before the Lord, but to not have it torment us. What would Jesus consider you?
Does He see you as a good person or a bad person, a follower or a fan, one who loves Him, or as one who hates Him? It matters how He sees us as much as how we see Him.
I know sinners who admit Jesus is Lord, but they don’t live for Him nor serve Him.

We look at the positive side of things today, and we talk about how the man who desires to be a leader must live. In today’s episode, heaven opens again with a white horse and the One who is Faithful and True upon it. We are given a description of the Word of God here, and then we are told the armies of heaven follows Him. A two-edged sword comes from His mouth, and He is King of kings and Lord of lords. He casts the devil into it for 1,000 years, and then there is rejoicing, and rest for the 1,000 years. This is the first resurrection, but the end is not yet. In today’s episode, we have another angel that begins to cry out that Babylon is fallen. Then a 3rd angel said that those who had taken the Mark of the Beast would drink of the wine of the fury of God’s wrath. This includes torment in fire and brimstone, which doesn’t sound good at all! We then see one sitting on a white cloud like the Son of Man, and He is about to thrust in His sickle and harvest the earth. We end this study with blood running as deep as the bridle of a horse, and a few more astonishing things that happen.

This is the belief that the church has taken Israel’s place in scripture, and in God’s heart. Some people who believe in Replacement Theology, feel that Jewish people aren’t even able to get saved. We strongly disagree with this, and we present our reasoning behind this today. Remnant Theology completely destroys the errant ideology of those who embrace Replacement Theology. Are we Zionists?

In today’s episode, we continue to look at what the Bible terms as ‘locusts’ and things get really weird before it is over. The description of these locusts is mind-blowing! Not only do these locusts have faces like men, they have hair like women, and it sounds like they might be driving tanks. They are described as warriors, horses, and scorpions! As if this isn’t enough, we then are told about stars falling from Heaven. Believe it or not, we see a few more elements of what we studied last week: There are some more similarities between these happenings and the plagues God sent to Egypt.

In today’s episode, we talk about something that happened on July 28th of last year. It is something that was a pretty big deal, but we doubt that many of you heard much about it. It involves the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham England. Some of what took place is fairly normative for Olympic style games, but there was some very shocking things that happened there as well. There are many things going on here, but the two things that seem to stand out are the mention of martyrs under the altar, and a great earthquake. The sun goes black, the moon turns to blood, there are stars that are falling as untimely figs, and much more! We know that some of these topics we are covering can be pretty explosive, or controversial. We try to posit the main points within these verses, while remaining true to the proper interpretation.

In today’s episode, we visit a portion of scripture that deals with two very different types of people. One is a sinner, and the other is a Pharisee. We focus more on this Pharisee today, and it is mostly because of his prayer. It isn’t so much that he prayed such a great prayer, but it is how he prayed, and who he prayed to. It is all too easy to become obsessed with ourselves, and religious people are some of the worst about this. Everything religious people say usually starts with: ‘I…’ This Pharisee had 5 I’s, but couldn’t see his own problem. Can you?

In today’s episode, we ponder the idea of knowing the Lord. For some, this phrase means that you are saved. For others, it means that they recognize there is a God. To some people, God is unknowable. In today's episode, we did a follow-up of the episode on Truth vs. Tradition from last week. In this study, we try to zero in on the difference between truth and tradition. We ask if all traditions are good, and then we ask if they are all bad. We ask if traditions are the same as truth. One thing that really matters, is whether our traditions lead us right, or if they lead us wrong. Some people place traditions on the same level as the truth. Some churches cling to traditions as if they are the only thing worth believing. Other churches are throwing all traditions out the window. We consider all of these things, and a few more items today.
In today's episode, we give a thorough examination of 2 more of the 7 churches of Asia. We look at the good and the bad concerning the churches of Thyatira and Sardis. Thyatira was allowing Jezebel to seduce people into fornication, but not all of them had gone into the depths of Satan. Sardis had a name that they were alive, but they were dead. Despite this, Sardis still had a few who had not defiled their garments, even though Jesus said that He would blot some of their names out of book of life if they did not repent. We look at all of this and much more.

Many people assume that if you teach or preach on topics such as predestination, you must be a Calvinist or a reform theologian. Others think because you lift Christ up, you must be Oneness. I know this might be considered a bold statement, but all of these are wrong doctrinal assumptions at times. In today's episode, we answer a question we feel is very relevant for our time. A listener sent us a question asking if we believe that altars are still necessary today. We answered this question with several scriptures, much experience in this matter, and with Godly logic. As long as we have troubles, problems, sickness, and sin, we will always need our altars. We also believe that the purpose of the church should be made known to all unbelievers as well, because they are connected!
In today's episode, James continues his diatribe against the men of his day. He accuses them of condemning and killing just men, and then he warns them of the coming Day of the Lord. We know that the reference to the Day of the Lord is speaking of the Great Judgment, of which James says is drawing nigh. He tells us to not grudge one against the other, and the reason for this is that the Judge is standing before the door. He then speaks of endurance while reminding us of Job.

The question was posed: I have noticed several places within scripture where it says people rose early to do certain things, such as when Abraham rose early to sacrifice Isaac in Gen. 22, so what is the significance of them rising early? In today's episode, we learn what sins of omission are, and then we go into chapter 5 and quickly see several rebukes of rich men, including a description of their evil deeds. James accuses these rich men of fraud, and of keeping back the hard-earned money of the laborers they had hired. He says they live in pleasure while slaughtering these poor laborers by refusing to give them their wages. The cries of these men have now entered the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, which implies judgment will come upon them.

In today's episode, James tells us that if we would be willing to humble ourselves in the sight of God, He will lift us up. He also reminds us to not speak evil of our brothers. He goes on to tell us that it is foolish to make plans without knowing the will of God for our lives. He jars our mind by telling us that our lives are as a vapor, they appear for only a short time and then they vanish. James teaches us rather to say: If the Lord is willing. Otherwise, he says such rejoicing is evil. Once again, this book can be very convicting to our hearts.

In today's episode, we took a little detour from answering questions that have been sent in by our listeners, because we felt the need to jump into the middle of a topic that has been severely misconstrued over the past few decades. We look at the paradox that we all know that is called freedom. We look at many sides of this much cherished and fought for ideal of the American people. We give a different take on freedom that we believe might be new to some of those within our audience. We trust that you will have a much better understanding of freedom after listening to this episode!
In today's study, we begin with a confusing scripture, and we try to bring some clarity to it. Then we look at James' statement that God resists the proud, but He gives grace unto the humble. He told us to submit ourselves to God, resist the devil, and then the devil will flee from us. He commanded us to draw nigh to God, and then he stated that God will draw nigh to us. James tells us to cleanse our hands, purify our hearts, while also cautioning us not to be double-minded. This episode is encouraging, yet challenging.
In our Q&A segment, we answer the question: Aren't we to be lifting Christ up in our church services? Jesus even said that if He was lifted up, He would draw all men unto Himself.

In today's study, we speak a little more concerning the wisdom of God that comes down from above, but then we move on into chapter 4. James begins this chapter with several scathing remarks and a strong rebuke. He asks his audience why they were fighting and warring with each other. He brings up lust, the desire to have things, and why they aren't receiving them. He claims that they would only consume them upon their own lusts. He calls anyone who befriends the world adulterers and adulteresses. He even goes as far as to say that if you are the friend of the world, you are the enemy of God!
In our Q&A segment, we are asked a great question: Are there other gods, or not? Sometimes the Bible speaks as if there are no other gods as in Is. 45:5-6, but then it speaks as if there are in places like Ps. 82:6.

In today's study, we look into the argument James is famous for. He strongly promotes the belief that faith must have works that come with it, or it is not authentic faith. James uses several analogies to prove his point, and he concludes that if you don't have works with your faith, your faith is dead. He says that Abraham was justified by the work of offering Isaac on the altar, which is contrary to what many denominations today believe.

These brothers use biblical evidence to prove this is inaccurate at the least, and heretical at the worst. Jesus is the 2nd member of the Godhead, thus He is deity just as much as the Father. Because the Father has always been, so has Christ. Hang on to your hat, because these brothers will be taking you on a powerful ride through the scriptures, showing Christ in many places all throughout the Old Testament and even before that!
In today's study, we learn that if you are only a hearer of the Word of God, and you are not a doer, God is not pleased. James says you are like a man who looks into the mirror, you see some things, but then you purposely forgot what you saw. Those who continue to look into this perfect law of liberty and continues in it will be blessed. We also examine the idea of those who seem to be religious, but can't seem to bridle their tongue. James boldly declared that their religion is vain, or empty.

In today's episode, we see that we are like the flower of the grass, for we shall all pass away. We see that the man who endures temptation is blessed, and he shall receive the crown of life if he loves the Lord. We are discouraged from the thought that God tempts us with evil, but James straightens us out. He tells us that we are drawn away of our own lust and enticed, and this is what leads to sin, and eventually to death. This is a sobering thought!

The big question that we tackle today is this: Did Jesus go through and meet any of these Old Testament requirements in order to be made king? Did He do any of this to authenticate His Kingship? Several modern scholars say that He did not, but we feel certain that He did, and we offer our proof in this episode.

We received a question asking us if we believe idolatry is an issue for the people of our day and time, or if it is something that we have gotten past. Some people question if ministers should teach and preach against idolatry, because it seems to be irrelevant now. The reasoning behind this thinking is that we don't see people openly bowing down to false gods and idols. Is this an obsolete topic, or is it one that still needs to be addressed?

In today's episode, we learn that God chastens those whom He loves. He does this that we might partake of His holiness. Chastening is grievous, but it yields righteousness, of which, if we will follow peace with all men, and Holiness, we shall see the Lord. We receive an admonition to not fail of God's grace, lest we become like Esau who was rejected of God.

Neither should we despise the chastening of the Lord, for this is how we know we are children of God.

In today's study, we look at the faith of Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and of Moses. Within these men, we see the nation of Israel beginning to grow and prosper, and then migrating into Egypt. It was the faith of these men along with the parents of Moses who believed until God brought them out of Egypt in the Exodus. As we see today, faith can bring a lot of blessings into our lives, and cause a lot of good things to happen for us.

In today's study, we will see that Jesus is the High Priest of good things to come, and also of a greater tabernacle. He didn't do this by the blood of bulls, goats, or of calves, but He did do this by His own blood. He has purged our consciences from our dead works so we can now serve the living God. Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant, which is also known as the New Testament. The Testament can't go into effect until the death of the Testator, so this tells us that our Testament is valid right now! Our Testator has died, but He rose again, and gave us a better covenant through His mediation.

In today's study, we look at how the first covenant had fault within it. We see that this is why God made a New Covenant with us in Jer. 31, and Eze. 36. God is merciful to our unrighteousness, and He shows us this by remembering our sins and iniquities no more. The Old Covenant waxed old and decayed, but the New Covenant is good for as long as Jesus lives. We can all rest assured that this covenant is an everlasting one because our Savior lives forever!

In today's study, we talk our High Priest, which is the One who is better. Our High Priest sits at the right hand of God in Heaven. This tells us that He is the fulfillment of the Messianic prophecy found in Ps. 110. Every High Priest must have something to offer unto God as they minister, and our High Priest was no different. Jesus obtained a more excellent ministry. He is the Mediator of a better covenant. He also has established it upon better promises.

In this episode, we dig into the phrase 'the brightness of His Glory', and dive into the Greek meaning here. The word 'apaugasma' is a Greek word which describes the brightness of God's glory, and it is also the fulfillment of the wisdom of God.
At the end, we tackle an interesting question that was sent in: Does God hear us every time we pray?

Pod King podcast is a Bible study that specializes in examining the Bible according to the original languages (Hebrew and Greek), in order to understand the Word of God more fully. Today's episode is our first podcast, and we are just starting off on a study of the book of Hebrews. Today, we look at the various ways God has chosen to speak to humanity. All of our studies will be Christ-centered, and usually take us on some exciting excursions into many different topics.
