Ukulele-What does that suggest for you.  Do you hear the soothing sounds of the islands and graceful hula dancers?  Perhaps you think of a children’s toy and raucous tunes, and nursery rhymes.  Does it represent a serious musical instrument capable of playing all types of music including classical, rock country and jazz?  It’s all these things and more.  The ‘ukulele is an incredible instrument for therapy and it’s fun!

Marital conflict, money problems, and life-altering circumstances are problems that come with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.  It doesn’t help when many Parkinson’s medications share a side effect which adds to the stress.  The problem?  Impulsivity.  When the urge of compulsive behavior like shopping, gambling, or sex becomes overwhelmingly irresistible and frequent. These compulsive behaviors can push marriages over the edge, lead to financial ruin, and other devastating results.   How are you supposed to deal with compulsive behavior?

Happy Valentine's Day!  The Brain Werx is focusing on caregivers and those for whom they care.  Few relationships are as important for a person with Parkinson's Disease or any disability.  Caregivers face enormous tasks and responsibilities but they are often underappreciated.  Caregivers need to feel loved and appreciated.  This week's episode features author Catherine King and her story.  Catherine tells her story in her book "Will You Trust Me Through This?"  She talks about her journey as the primary caregiver for her husband of 43 years as he struggles with Parkinson's Disease.  Listening to her story of love and devotion to Bob is a raw encounter filled with insight and inspiration.  Join in for this important talk about why Caregivers Matter!
