Today we’re talking with the truly magnetic Nora Shepard about:
Prepare to have epiphanies. This woman drops so many gems and one-liners that will resonate.
________
You’ll learn more about ego-death in the episode, but in oversimplified terms, it can be a life-changing, albeit destabilizing, experience that involves losing a sense of self. This loss allows for the opportunity gain a deeper sense of awareness. It can be life-changing and also, erm, really uncomfortable. Yay growth!
Nora articulates this better than I can in a LinkedIn post, but I’ll say this: when we hit these topsy-turvy phases of life, if we’re lucky enough to be on the planet long enough to continue to grow, it helps to connect with someone who has been there before you.
In the first episode of season 3, Nora goes from guest to guide, authentically shining her light and illuminating an uncharted path for us. Human lantern, now THAT is a new identifier for sure.

Today I'm sitting down with Ericka Rodriguez, founder of one of my favorite beauty brands, Axiology. Those 'balmies' were one of the first products I reviewed on my YouTube channel years ago!
I'm currently on a journey to have plastic play a much smaller role in my everyday life, so I was even more excited to get tips from Ericka since she's a pioneer in the industry when it comes to consciously created products.
We dive into:
- how & why Axiology started
- how she built the brand and worked with Instagram to get the word out
- the evolution of the brand's packaging & products
- I finally get a straight answer on PCR & refillable products: are they effective?
- Ericka's routine and the cruelty-free products she uses on heavy rotation
- how making small shifts can have a big impact, "completely plastic free" nowadays isn't possible
See more about Ericka and her brand here:

Today we're speaking with the wonderful Kathy Tagenel, President of Go-Givers International, all about a tool called the Kolbe A Index. My initial discussions with Kathy were eye-opening to say the least. I've taken 'em all, Meyers Briggs, and other EQ/IQ tests as a new student x4 growing up. This Index was probably the most impactful of all, I only wish I had access to it when I was in middle school!
In this episode we cover:
- How to unlock your innate abilities and harness the Kolbe Index information to help make your life more fulfilling
- What an innate ability is. Hint: you were born with these.
- How EQ and IQ testing is different from taking a look at the "conative" approach
- A quick 101 on the Kolbe A Index and my experience with it
- How your innate abilities can support others and vice versa. Loved this- "how we initiate action determines how we naturally communicate"
- So much more!

We'll cover:
- how natural light and vitamin D can drastically help with hormone levels
- how hormone levels can affect your allergy symptoms
- a live review of the HTMA results which brings me to...
- copper toxicity: what it means, how it affects the body and hormone levels
- how the body uses minerals, the part they play in energy levels, etc.
- the crucial role of the liver
- a quick view of heavy metals which, gasp, showed up in my results!
- and more...

Welcome back for episode 2 of my wellness series Lost & Found, that I kicked off a few weeks back with the wonderful Reneé Bergmen, founder of Megaphone Functional Health.
For the past 6 years my tagline has been 'I try it out for you so you know what to buy and what NOT to buy.' I've tested thousands of dollars worth of clean beauty, skincare and haircare products. With this series I'm taking an inside-out approach to living a beautiful life. I'm testing and reviewing a functional nutritional program...
In a nutshell: for the next 12 months, I'll be working with Reneé, a Functional Diagnostic Health Practitioner. to heal my gut, balance my hormones, all the things we hear about in click-bait headlines on social media. But the differences here are:
- the approach is diagnostic
- I'm taking you along for the ride and
- sharing my honest experience (along with test results) so you know whether investing in something like this could support your journey.
As always, I'm keeping it 100% real (hence the repeated mention of the word 'poop' in this episode- spoiler alert lol) and authentic.
In this second episode we're reviewing my gut test results live. We cover a ton of ground:
- Reneé interprets my test results and it (clap) is (clap) fascinating (clap)
- why everything really does start with the gut in terms of treatment
- flora, different types and what they do
- the danger behind elimination diets
- a key sign that you're not digesting fat
- why taking a supplement won't always help the root cause of an issue
- what 'seeding' with probiotics means
- the one thing more important than any supplement you could take over the counter
I hope you find this as interesting as I did. Next up: hormone and HTMA testing results.
DISCLAIMER: this is NOT medical advice. Reneé is not a doctor and cannot prescribe medical treatment. The results and treatments discussed in this episode are based on personalized tests. Today I got to chat with the Tina Uzzardi, the founder of a spa called cheeks + co out in Pasadena, CA. I was introduced to Tina through the launch of her new product TidalShift initial to provide a review for the product. But after digging around a bit to learn more about this woman, I realized I wanted to know more of her story, the story behind the brand, and honestly pick her brain about skincare routines since she is absolutely an expert in the area.
We cover everything from
- her super intentional vision behind the environment she has created at cheeks + co
- recommendations on how to start a skincare routine plus some of her favorite resources that help make things less overwhelming
- we dive into her new product TidalShift which is really different form other serums I’ve tried in the space (which is saying something, because I’ve tried way more than any human probably should)
- and more!
Thank you Tina for coming onto the podcast! I feel like whenever I speak with you, I’ve known you for years and yet we only just met.
The conversation was so fun for me and hopefully for you all listening as well. I also hope you found some of Tina’s tips helpful.

Today I'm kicking off the news series with a very open and vulnerable moment that dives (uncomfortably) deep into my own wellness journey.
My hope and intention with this mini-series is to help others going through something similar to feel empowered (not overwhelmed or misled) enough to be able to better care for themselves.
I've signed up for Renee's 12-month program and now you can come along for the ride. Will this program be a success? I have zero clue, but we're about to find out...

Today I was able to speak with Monica Schmiede, co-founder of Athelo Health, the first biometric-anchored virtual coach for women with breast and gynecologic cancers.
I connected with Monica thanks to a mutual friend. As soon as I did a little digging on her background (it’s impressive to say the least) and what Athelo Health is all about, I needed to have her on the show.
The digital health field is one that I am just starting to understand. It’s not only Fitbits and checking steps on an Apple Watch. I know a bit about how biometric information can support the overall health of an individual, and as Monica points out, make it easier to communicate more efficiently with our physicians. Let me tell you, in the hour I had with Monica, I realized I have only scratched the surface of what’s possible. Sometimes it takes someone who has been in all of the different rooms and see other perspectives, those of the doctor, the patients who don’t have equitable access, the clinical trials and more, to really connect the dots and unlock a potential I would have never seen coming.
Here’s what we talk about:
A bit more about Monica:
Monica Schmiede the the co-founder and Head of Commercial Strategy at Athelo Health, a health technology company focused on empowering women with breast and gynecologic cancers. Previously, she led business development and strategic partnerships for Clinipace, a mid-sized Contract Research Organization specializing in oncology clinical research where she grew revenue by 30%. She started her career in healthcare at Informa Pharma Intelligence where she built market intelligence portfolios for both innovative biotechnology companies and global pharmaceutical companies. She holds an MBA from the London School of Economics and currently resides in Marin, California. In addition, she enjoys spending her free time in nature and is an avid freediver.
Thank you Monica for coming on and sharing your knowledge today!

My guest on today’s episode is Norm Ralph, co-founder and COO at Thoughtium, a management consulting firm.
Over a year ago, I reached out to Norm and we’ve developed a collaborative friendship that I value more and more with every single jam session we have.
I wanted to share all of the lessons I've learned from Norm (as well as his story) with others who want to be inspired by someone out there that’s successful in his own right and still manages to live intentionally, from his heart.
In today’s episode, Norm and I dive into:

Today I’m speaking with Kinga Kremer, founder of KingaKremer.com, and an incredibly cool human I saw one day on YouTube speaking about manifestation. I received that intuitive nudge to reach out almost immediately so I went with it and I’m so glad I did.
Kinga took a challenging situation which you’ll hear about and created a business out of it by sharing content and offering custom guided meditations to people all over the world with the intention of helping everyone reach their goals and manifest their dreams.
I believe in numbers and measuring. I nerd out about it all the time actually. But there’s a part of me that always sees magic in the mundane. That’s why I was so excited to have Kinga on today. You’ll hear her enthusiasm and vulnerability right away I’m sure. She gave generously for this episode and to say I’m grateful for such a gift would be an understatement.
Speaking of the gifts she gave, here are some topics we’ll cover:

Today we’re talking all things tarot and astrology with Danielle Wallis who I was lucky enough to meet in a corporate setting, go figure. We’re both on a creative team, but Danielle is next level when it comes to the word ‘creative.’
In her own words: "Danielle is a cosmic visionary, stylist, and art director currently residing in Brooklyn. She thrives on bringing the intangible to life; whether it be concept development or creating powerful visuals for the world to enjoy.
She also happens to be a ray of sunshine which you’ll hear throughout our conversation. Danielle also happens to have extensive knowledge with it comes to things like astrology, tarot, and so much more:

Today I’m speaking with Tiffani Michaels, founder of My Well Kept Nest and new friend to moi.
In this episode we talk about how her journey, where her now successful business started (spoiler alert: in her neighbor's homes), she serves up expert tips that had me going, "GENIUS," Tiffani shares some of her favorite client experiences and also helped me reframe how I approach organizing small spaces in my home. I've always been relatively organized, but I've never approached a simple coffee station setup by first asking, "how do I want my morning to look?"
It was such a pleasure to have her on the season finale!

Today I’m speaking with the one and only Natalie Brova. To say she’s my best friend doesn’t quite cut it. At this stage of the game, she's family.
What stands out most to me about Natalie is her strength. She could have allowed what made her as strong as she is today to harden her. Instead, she developed a sense of empathy, kindness and fairness that (I believe, having worked with her in my career) helped her become incredibly successful at work.
This success eventually ended up taking a toll though, and that's what we cover today as she opens up about her journey. We also talk about how odd it is to be working in a corporate capacity and have certain things like mental health leave become incredibly common, to the point where no one really thinks twice about statements like, "Oh yep, she took leave, burnout and a breakdown."
In an effort to not have this become part of our common corporate vernacular, and in our own small way, we wanted to normalize these types of conversations. It's a tricky subject and we're (obviously) not medical experts, but my hope is that, if someone out there feels alone, they realize they are not.

Does biotin actually work and help hair grow? That’s the question I’m asking my friend, NTP and founder of JoelBrownWellness.com today. Joel is gracing this podcast with his presence and knowledge again! I love whenever I get a chance to look at beauty and wellness from the inside-out, so that's what is happening in today's episode.
I’ve always wondered about biotin to be honest. I’ve taken it myself, in grandiose doses at times which I don’t recommend, and yet I never see the mind-blowing results that others speak of in their social feeds.
So does it help support hair growth on its own? In this conversation, Joel brings things back to reality through his holistic lens. He explains why biotin isn’t a silver bullet and what we can do about it. I challenged him a bit as well, and bring up how complicated and confusing this ‘wellness’ world can seem at times. You’ll hear his response to that and so much more in this episode…
Before I dive in I wanted to let you know that you can get 10% off his 1:1 Nutritional Intensive Session using code BRITT10. This session is a one-off diet & lifestyle assessment, including a 3-day food & mood journal, in-depth nutritional questionnaire, a 90-minute interview call with diet, supplement & lifestyle protocols.

Today I’m speaking with Sara Tallent, one of my best friends since high school and also an accomplished woman in her own right. Mother of two incredible girls, business owner, photographer and now back in school studying to be a speech pathologist. You know, just a few things.
I wanted to have Sara on because a. I love speaking with her, but also I’ve been seeing so much buzz around CGMs or continuous glucose monitors in the wellness community. Sara is a Type 1 diabetic so for her, it’s less of a hack and more of a life-saving device. I wanted to get her take on this trend since not only does she have first-hand experience with it, but she’s incredibly knowledgable on the topic.
I thought it would be a good thing for this community to hear some real-talk from someone who lives with diabetes and isn’t trying to sell something. It may be controversial at some points, but what I continue to adore about Sara is her ability to distill the noise into something that is relatable, realistic and simply just makes sense.

Today I’m speaking with my good friend Britt Dionne about a super simple, very FREE and easily accessible exercise we both learned in therapy that has been a game changer in both of our lives. It’s called, the Compass exercise.
Britt has spent most of her work life as writer and communications professional. And nearly all of her personal life as a seeker who’s insatiably curious about metaphysics, self development, and psychology. She’s writing a book that she hopes will someday help out folks like her younger self, just starting their journey.
In this episode we cover:
And more!
_____
The compass exercise template is right here:
Key points to keep in mind-
THE BIG QUESTION: How do I want to feel with my partner/friend/team in a relationship/job/home…
Go through the items you listed out and edit. This is where things get interesting. If you can dig to the root of what you want to feel, you may see some patterns. It will also help you edit down to a short list of 5-7 words which is the goal.
Next up: dealbreakers. List everything out and edit again to find the top few dealbreakers. This was incredibly helpful for me. When I was in a relationship or situation that had a lot of emotion tied to it, I could look at what I wanted to feel and see clearly whether the person/job/place was aligned with that or not. It wasn’t pointing blame, it was not emotionally charged which I think was a HUGE help.
Revisit as often as needed. Try this for all areas of your life if you find it helpful and keep it moving, dynamic, flexible…it will change with you.
_____
A HUGE thank you to miss Britt. You are a special human, let alone a good friend. I’m so grateful you came on to share your insights, wisdom, energy and humor.

Neelou Malekpour, founder of Smudged.co and author of The Art of Sacred Smoke joins me today on the podcast.
A little bit about Smudged.co: it's a company dedicated to creating all kinds of goodies that transform one’s energetic frequency and as Neelou puts it, "get rid of bad juju." Think: cleansing bundles, breath-work sessions and so much more. My conversation with Neelou really felt like a gift and I don't say that lightly.
Today we dive into:
- her story/connection to having a sacred practice that started when she was just a child thanks to a close bond with her grandmother
- how things that seem impossible may not be
- how we disregard the intangible, everyday magic that surrounds us
- the importance of being intentional when you wake and before you go to sleep when looking to call energy back into ourselves and stay grounded
- resistance vs depletion and how to navigate that

This is a follow-up to last week's minisode where I introduced my new little passion project, Whole Picture Project 111! #wpproject111

It's my first minisode! And I'm using it to officially kick off something that has been in the works over here for awhile...
I've spent the past five years cleaning up my beauty, skincare and haircare routine. Now I'm applying a similar approach to my everyday lifestyle routine using small swaps inspired by new (to me) books I'll be reading every week.
It's simple.
I'm using a 111 approach:
1 - swap
1 - once a day
1 - for one week at a time
I'm kicking it off with:
✨ The Wim Hof Method
✨ The Whole Picture Podcast 'Summer Reading List'- https://www.wholepicturepodcast.com/project-111-summer-reading-list
For the first swap:
I'll be swapping out my morning social media 'doom scrolling' with 15-20 minutes of the WHM's breathing technique. I'll also probably incorporate little bits of cold exposure as well since it's a part of the process, but I'm not at ice-bath level yet so I'm going with a few seconds of chilly water at the end of my shower. That'll do.

Today I'm speaking with the Lisa Gornall- Spiritual Medium, Reiki Master, Mindset & Energy Coach. If you've found letting go or setting boundaries tricky, this one is for you. It's all about energy and Lisa serves up some solid ah-ha moments that I know will resonate with some of you. Be sure to hang out until the end as she walks me (and you) through a quick, yet powerful, white light exercise. It felt like I took a power nap!

Today I'm speaking with the wonderful Cynthia Bestemen, Founder of Violets Are Blue, about her journey from broadway to real estate to breast cancer and the launch of a brand.
We cover the highs, the lows, and the unexpected twists and turns she took along the way.
We also dive into her approach to skincare and how creating her formulas not only helped her heal, but became a source of healing for others going through similar health battles (and beyond)!
To say I was inspired by her story would be an understatement...

Susannah Dellinger, founder of Bright Beauty Collective, was SUCH a joy to have on and I think you can tell why. This human ray of sunshine has been through a lot, from rising to the top of the conventional beauty industry to her personal search for something 'better' that would heal her burnt-out body and engage her curious mind, to successfully launching a retail and branding agency that is changing the world, one amazing founder at a time. Enjoy!
