To be a true CBO (Creative Business Owner), it's important to reach the intersection between Art, Money, and Business. If even one of these components is not a part of your business strategy, then you have some work to do.

Today we'll discuss the intersection of these three realms and what it looks like if you're missing any of these essential elements. Identifying what you need to work on is crucial if you're goal is to build a scalable creative businesss.

This episode stems directly from a conversation I had with a creative business owner friend of mine. The question, "how much money do you really need" came up; and while we didn't dive deep into that question at that point, it's a question that's stuck with me.

Today, I'm going to expand on the conversation and really start boiling down how much money we actually need.

Let's starting changing the way we, as creatives, think and talk about money.

In today's episode we're talking about reducing friction in your business. This means actively looking for ways to make your life easier - not to mention the lives of your team members.

We actively practice reducing friction at Sage every single week. Let's dive into how we do that and how you can use this strategy to help you scale your creative business.

In today's episode I'm talking about MONEY.

In the creative world, "Money" is almost a dirty word... but the word that's even dirtier, is "Profit". As Creative Business Owners, we have to make sure that our business has the financial resources it needs in order to grow and scale.

The book, "Profit First" by Mike Michalowicz is a game-changer. I talk about how much the book impacted me in this episode and how I apply its teachings within my own business.

This episode is close to my heart - it's a difficult one to talk about and, as a woman, it's challenging to embrace... and that is, the idea of letting go of perfection.

Today, I'll argue that giving yourself and your team PERMISSION to make mistakes is a growth strategy that you must get on board with.

I'll talk about some of the huge mistakes I've made... some of which I thought I wouldn't be able to bounce back from... and discuss how those mistakes helped my business to grow.

I hope you'll join today's episode with an open heart and an open mind.

Your clients could be some of your best business coaches... and all of their advice is free! While they're not always right (partially because they're not ALL you're ideal client), those who hire you are a vital source of business wisdom.

Let's discuss all the ways you can process their guidance and turn their needs into strategic planning for the future of your business.

In this episode, I share the tools I have personally used, and continue to use even now, in order to grow my business and plan for the future.

In today's episode I'm discussing a common fear among creative business owners... and that's the idea that when they hire on new staff, there's a potential that they are training someone who will run off and start their own creative business... becoming their direct competition.

This fear is fully justified... but today we'll discuss why it's crucial to push through the fear and change your perspective. And we'll also discuss how to protect yourself, just in case.

In this episode we'll talk about Industry Turnover.

I’ll be looking specifically at the events industry, because that is the one I’ve been paying attention to for longest amount of time, but this equally applies across the board for ALL creative industries… and I know this because I’ve watched a large chunk of my Facebook friends start and close numerous creative businesses over the years.

We’re going to talk about the root causes of this turnover… and it’s probably not what you think.

We're also going to talk about what you can start doing right now to avoid becoming one of the turnover statistics.

In this episode we’re going to talk about the different phases of business growth and scaling.

Understanding the various phases will help you identify which phase your business is currently in so that you can start to envision and plan for the next phase.

Trying to force your business into scaling too quickly can cost you a lot of money when you’re not ready for it. But scaling too slowly can also hold you back from growth you can totally handle.

Understanding and envisioning what your business might look like in each phase will help you to start putting the right resources in place, in order to make your growth more successful.

By the end of this episode, I hope that you’ll be looking at your business in a new way as we lay the foundation for future episodes.

Welcome to the Scale Your Creative Business Podcast, the place where creative entrepreneurs learn how to build, grow, and scale their creative business. YES, you CAN scale your creative business… and I’m here to show you how. I am your host, Sophie Branchaud, and I am so excited that you’ve found the show and that you’ve decided to listen in today.

In today’s episode I’m going to share why I decided to start this podcast and I’m going to give you a bit of background on myself and my journey in scaling my own creative business.

I’ve come to learn that there are two types of businesses in the events/creative industry.

First, there are those businesses that live and die with their owner. They cannot operate without their owner and when their owner is ready to retire the business retires with them.

The second type of creative business is the type that is built to scale so that it can either be sold or can continue to run and generate a profit even after the owner retires.

If you're looking to build the SECOND type of Creative Business, this podcast is for you.
