First off, I just want to say I appreciate anyone listening to my podcasts, it really does mean a lot and the only reason I am doing these episodes is to get you another touch point at bitcoin. In this episode, Preston and I talk about many things and it should be noted that Preston might be ACLB’s #1 fan! He has listened to every episode and brought some questions regarding the current buying opportunity, the survivability of bitcoin, and much much more. Intro: What’s up guys! Welcome to Anyone Can Learn Bitcoin. My name is Collin Anderson and a very simple question of Why hasn’t bitcoin died yet… led me down the bitcoin rabbit hole in January of 2021. Again, my goal with this podcast is to give the people closest to me another touchpoint in regards to bitcoin. I think we can all agree it can be easier listening to someone you know talk about bitcoin and finance because it makes it more real. Of course, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about any of the content or where to learn more!

Today, I have my old college roommate from freshman year, Ernesto Telles from the Bitcoin capital of Central America and in my opinion, the world. Ernesto visits El Salvador frequently but has been living in the US since 2016. He has his masters in finance and is currently working for a company down in Dallas, TX. I was really excited for this conversation because Ernesto is a really good dude and always gives his honest opinion on subjects. He isn’t a bitcoin bro –yet– but has a valuable perspective with family ties in El Salvador. For those that don’t know, El Salvador made bitcoin legal tender back in September of 2021 and that means any merchant has to accept is as a valid means of payment.

In this episode, we talk about many things in regards to El Salvador, bitcoin, and money. And with that being said, let’s get started. But first, a word from the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Krister:

  • What did you think when President Bukele announced legal tender status for bitcoin in El Salvador?

  • Have you been to Bitcoin each in El Zonte, El Savador?

Intro: What’s up guys! Welcome to Anyone Can Learn Bitcoin. My name is Collin Anderson and I dove down the bitcoin rabbit hole in January of 2021. I know, not that impressive. However, I believe after hundreds of hours reading, listening, and learning about this new technology, that there is more than meets the eye. In fact, what drove me to learn more about bitcoin was that it didn’t crash to zero yet and I finally got around to asking why. Again, my goal with this podcast is to give the people closest to me another touchpoint in regards to bitcoin. I think it is easier listening to someone you know talk about something we have all seen in the headlines and now super bowl commercials. Today, I have my brother from another mother, Tony Adamczak on the show. He is an assistant coach at the University of River Falls and also has his Masters in Coaching Education and Athlete Development from Xavier University. He is aspiring to become a head coach of a Division 1 basketball team someday. I think Tony and I get along so well because we both like to challenge each other to be better people and push each other to have a growth mindset in life. They say surround yourself with the best people because you are a product of your environment. Tony is one of those people and I am grateful for our friendship!

In this episode, we talk about many things, both in bitcoin and life in general. And with that being said, let’s get started. But first, a word from the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Krister:

Today, I have my broski, Krister on the show, who is my younger brother. He is one of the hardest workers I know and has this unique characteristic where he can brighten any room he walks into. Krister doesn’t know a ton about bitcoin other than what the common headlines have been in years past. That made this conversation, in my opinion, the best one yet. Krister is one of the best people I know and simply put, the man is a legend.

In this episode, we discuss what money means and common topics of bitcoin. Krister came up with some great questions on the spot and I had a fun time answering them. With that being said, let’s get started.

Topics - In order of the when they are discussed:

  • What do you do for work?
  • Why do you work and what do you work towards?
  • What does money mean to you?
  • Stigma of bitcoin being used by criminals
  • Bitcoin being used as a currency
    • NCR point-of-sale deal with Strike
  • The creator of Bitcoin - Satoshi Nakamoto
  • Hard Fork vs Soft Fork
  • What if there is a better bitcoin that comes out?
  • Updating software?
  • Preferred way to store bitcoin
  • Can bitcoin be insured by the government like our bank accounts?
  • Being your own bank

Today, I have David Satre on the show who is the older brother to one of my best friends, Thomas Satre. I would even go as far to say that I consider David an older brother that I never had. That being said, I look up to David and value his opinions so I was excited to find out he had been reading and learning about money, crypto, and bitcoin since early 2020.

In this episode, we discuss Bitcoin vs other cryptocurrencies, otherwise known as Altcoins or as I prefer to call them, shitcoins. We cover a wide range of topics that could potentially go over your head if you are relatively new to the space, however, I am also still learning and many of these topics are the first time I have had the opportunity to explain them so they are a little choppy. Either way, I think this will be entertaining either way because David and I are very comfortable disagreeing with each other. With that being said, let’s get this show on the road.

Topics - In order of the when they are discussed:

  • Concentration of wealth in bitcoin
  • 51% attack
  • Bitcoin Mining Ban in China
  • Money is Power
  • Blocksize war
  • A trustless system
  • The money is broken
  • Altcoin Use Cases
  • Leveling the playing field
  • Who controls the Altcoins and what is the foundation on which it is built?
  • Halftime
  • Utility of bitcoin vs altcoins
  • Nodes and control
  • Acquiring Crypto and Fees
  • Strategies of acquiring bitcoin - Dollar Cost Average

In this episode I talk about the dimensions, functions and properties of money. I also discuss the trade-offs between Gold, the US dollar, and of course, bitcoin in relation to how us humans value money.

Here are my notes on which this podcast is based on:

  • What is Money?
    • Meaning of money
      • Salability - that which has the lowest rate of declining marginal utility will be chosen to facilitate indirect trade
        • Time - holds value over time
        • Space - easily transported
        • Scales - easily grouped and divided
    • Functions of Money - have to go in order of SoV → MoE → UoA
      • 1. Store of Value - maintains its value over time (currently where bitcoin is today)
      • 2. Medium of Exchange - used in indirect exchange for the purpose of exchanging it again
      • 3. Unit of Account - used as a common unit of measurement to determine the market value of goods and services
      • Eric Yakes - “For example, if a good is the most salable across time, then it will be the best store of value. If a good is the most salable across space, then it will be the best medium of exchange. If a good is the most salable across scale, it will be the best unit of account.”
    • Properties of Money
      • Scarcity and Durability
      • Acceptability and Portability
      • Divisibility and Fungibility

In this episode of Anyone Can Learn BitcoinCollin Anderson welcomes Kasey to Anyone Can Learn Bitcoin where normal, everyday-people like you and I discuss surface level concepts of what Bitcoin is and where it's going, in order to help break down the common barriers to learning about this new technology.

Today I have Kasey on the show who is a Nurse.

We discuss how bitcoin can make you money, if it will grow in the short term or long term, and if it could allow nurses or anyone to quit their job in the future.

Now, since this is the first show, I will go ahead and state my background and why I started this show.

My name is Collin Anderson and I joined the Bitcoin Space in January of 2021. I know, not that impressive, but I didn’t merely invest in the asset class and “get lucky and become a millionaire” like a lot of prominent people in the space. I have been doing the research and soaking up as much information on the subject as I can in order to build the conviction I now have. I have read several books on the subject and have spent several hours a day reading or listening to information regarding bitcoin for the past year. I believe Bitcoin has crossed the chasm where it is finally taken seriously and gains major adoption.

I started this show to try and break down the stigma and barrier of learning about this new technology, and more specifically, I want friends and family, and friends of friends to have another touch point when it comes to Bitcoin. My thought process is if the people listening know the people in the podcast, it makes it more relatable. Now you have someone to talk to about bitcoin!

In my work life, my day job is an insurance agent where I sell auto, home, life, and retirement services.

Now Story Time: I first heard about Bitcoin in the basement of a friend's house back in 2016, when I was a senior in high school. The price was around $600 at the time and myself, as well as, my friends immediately brushed bitcoin off as a scam and proceeded to bash the friend who had initially brought it up. I say this because everyone has a story like this no matter how “early” you got into the Bitcoin space. And believe it or not, if you’re listening to this podcast, you are still early and these future conversations will help explain why. If you ever want to learn more, don’t hesitate to reach out. I will be posting these podcasts as frequently as I can.

Now, I am happy to welcome to the very first episode of the pod, Kasey. Let’s begin the show!
