From the original episode description:

How much time do you spend on a device? Mobile, laptop, TV? Some of the technology wizards often say they won't let their own kids have devices... Are we missing something? Can we live without it? Laura Willis wants me to believe we can, so we will be talking about how technology is robbing us of our mental health and some ways we can learn to switch off.

Larry Meyler

Irish-born Larry Meyler began his writing career in 2017 with the release of his first book, the self-published title, Being Brave. His self-deprecating, relatable and entertaining style of writing has been a triumph for the ‘artful dodger of the literary world’ who was kicked out of school aged fifteen with no academic qualifications and who typed his first book on an iPad. Joanna Lumley calls it “utterly gripping”, and a host of other famous fans, from James Arthur to Geri Halliwell, have found themselves lost in its pages, a poignant and fearlessly honest memoir from this “unlikely author”.

The Sun says: “It will inspire you like very few books do,” and The Daily Star Sunday calls it: “A fearless piece of writing and unique memoir”. The book has gained five stars on Amazon and has featured in The Evening Standard, Fabulous and Now magazine. Larry has since written articles for Glamour, Men's Health, MailOnline and has worked with Heads Together, the mental health charity spearheaded by Prince William, Princess Catherine and Prince Harry. As well as being a radio and podcast guest and hosting school talks centred around mental health.

Andy Bishop

Andy grew up in a small village in South Wales where he would often play soldiers in the local woods. His childhood dream became a reality when he joined the British Army. His 22-year career took him all over the world. Yet, all this time, Andy held a secret: He suffered with poor mental health. Scared that any admission would see him labelled as weak, Andy put on a mask to protect his career. He would maintain a ‘tough guy’ exterior while denying anything was wrong to those closest to him.

This act took took him close to the end on more than one occasion. Following the loss of a close friend to suicide, Andy opened up about his journey and following the grief of his mate’s death. He started to share that ‘it’s not weak to speak.’ By talking about what troubles us, we begin to find a way through the dark back towards the light. Andy now shares his story regularly, as a plenary speaker for Mental Health First Aid England on instructor courses, and has shares his journey with a range of businesses.
