In the third and final installment of our review of the Trinity, we answer one listener's question, "Why does this doctrine matter?" We will explore the impact of this essential doctrine of the Christ faith, and the consequences of not believing it.
To believe Jesus was merely a man chosen by God is not enough. He was and is the Almighty, the eternally existent God of the Bible, in the Person of God the Son.This episode is a personal addendum to Catechisms 9 and 10. This is borne out of a study undertaken to combat the Oneness heresy that a friend of mine asked me to help him with.
The word ‘Trinity’ does not exist in the Bible, but neither does the word ‘discipleship’. We need not dismiss something out of hand just because it has a name not found in scripture. Indeed, in this case it affects what we believe about the very nature of the God of the Bible.
