The stock market has been crashing, with growth stocks collapsing by 50-75% over the last 6 months. But there's one stock in particular that has crashed, even though it's a market leader in 3 separate industries: mobile gaming, augmented reality and virtual reality content. Palantir is terrible at exactly 3 things: marketing, marketing, and marketing. Nobody knows why they hold PLTR stock. Nobody can explain the business or its market differentiator. Not even Palantir. So, Palantir stock just collapsed by over 20% after their most recent earnings call, and honestly, it was kind of justified. There were a bunch of issues in their earnings report and they did very little to address them on the call. The Federal Reserve just raised interest rates, which affects many of the best stocks to buy now (think TSLA and PLTR stocks). However, inflation and interest rates aren't the whole story. Facebook, now Meta, recently announced that they're rebranding to focus on the Metaverse and that Facebook stock will become MVRS. I want to cover Virtual Reality now because this area of tech stocks is filled with some of the best stocks to buy now, even if you don't believe in Meta Platforms or even that Metaverse is going to take off. Virtual Reality was also featured in ARK Invest's Big Ideas 2021 report, but only with respect to video games. I believe that VR extends far past gaming and that ARKW, the ARK Invest fund themed around the next generation of internet applications, is missing many of the best stocks as a result.

In this episode, I look at one fundamental law ARK Invest follows to pick innovative companies like Tesla (TSLA) way before Wall Street buys in. Their biggest portfolio, ARKK, is filled with companies like these, and ARK Invest's investment process is outlined here: https://ark-invest.com/investment-process/
Using Tesla as an example, we can clearly see that ARK bought in at the perfect time, not because they were timing the market, but because Tesla entered the trough of disillusionment and the market was clearly pricing Elon's visionary electric vehicle company incorrectly. Wall Street cares about profit while Cathie Wood understands that exponential growth tomorrow comes from constant reinvestment today.
I'm talking about the Law of Diffusion of Innovation, which is a framework for understanding how many people need to buy into an idea or technology for it to go mainstream (e.g. buy-in from Wall Street).
Finally, I talk about an additional framework, the Gartner Hype Cycle, which talks about market sentiments depending on where a technology is in its adoption cycle. I'm confident you can use this framework to validate any innovation or disruptive technology Cathie Wood puts money behind, as well as use it to predict her future picks!

My name is Alex and I'm definitely not a financial advisor. I'm just a nerd that loves sharing my personal vision of the future and putting my money where my mouth is.
Let's start with this.
The average artificial intelligence model, like the ones we use when we're on Google, YouTube, or TikTok, is growing in size by about 1000% per year.
There were 800 million mobile devices in the world in 2012, which sounds like a lot. But there are over 10 billion of them today and that number is rapidly growing.
Battery technology is getting so good and so cheap, electric vehicles could soon outperform gas powered ones in every category while being cheaper to buy and to maintain.
It's probably obvious that trends like these will dramatically change the way we work, the way we play, the way we travel, and the companies we can invest in over the next decade.
But what may NOT be so obvious is what will happen when we start combining these trends to hail driverless robotaxis instead of ubers, get mail from aerial drones instead of the mail man, and commute to work by throwing on some virtual reality goggles.
Throw in some 3D printers, add in some solar panels, and tie them to a few of SpaceX's reusable rockets, and things can get pretty wild.
