Ever since "In the Air Tonight" was released on Phil Collins's debut solo album "Face Value" in 1981, people have been coming up with a plethora of stories surrounding a drowning or murder event that Phil witnessed. There are a few variations of this story going around, but are any of these true? Or is there something else to the story? Join us in this episode as we discuss what Phil has said about creating the song and investigate what this classic 80s song with the most legendary drum fill of all time is really about.
There are a lot of theories as to what the lyrics of The Eagles' Hotel California are actually about. Is it a song dedicated to the late Church of Satan founder, Anton LaVey? Is it about a drug trip? Is it about heaven and hell? I researched this question and found a lot of different theories. We explore them all in this episode, and then I reveal what I think the song is actually about, based on interviews with the band and my own conclusions.
Randy Rhoads was a rising star who had recorded two albums with the former lead singer of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne. Tragically, his life was suddenly cut short in a plane crash in 1982. This episode explores his beginnings and how he got to be one of metal's most influential lead guitarists of all time and goes over the fateful accident that could have been completely avoided, but instead took the lives of three people.
