In this episode I touch on goals vs expectations and why it seems like youth sports are getting the two mixed up.
Goals = motivate players
Expectations = accountability and "buy in" to the goal and vision of the team.

In today's episode I go over the College Recruiting Process.
I go into detail about the NCAA and the NAIA and comparing the two Associations, as well as the rules and guidelines put into place for recruits.
I also speak on my own experience and how I got started with the recruiting process without knowing much about it and the steps I took to get recruited by Washington State University and how you can follow these steps to start the communication with College Coaches.

How do you train?
Are you training to get better as an athlete? or are you training to look good?
I don't know about you, but me personally I train for performance - and yes even now after I have moved on from my soccer career.
If your goal is to make it to college and develop athletically, then you need to do yourself a favor and take your training seriously by investing in proper training that will help you move on and get recruited.

As athletes we always grow up saying we want to play professionally or play at a major University but when it comes time to start that process, you have no clue how to go about it. That's essentially what happened to Gurveen, she didn't realize that she wanted to get recruited until colleges started to notice her.
She was going to these tournaments in the US, not really focused on playing in college, until a few schools started talking with her and showed interest. That's when she realized that she can continue playing soccer in College AND in the United States.
She also goes in depth on the struggles she faced during her freshman year in college at Washington State University from fitness to mental and her experiences getting invited to training camp for the Canadian National Team. Further along her college career we talk about the multiple coaching changes she had and how it affected her.
Then we transition out of sport and how she finally got into the career that she loves in a very round about way and how long it took for her to get there.

How would you handle 4 ACL injuries before the age of 25?
Former UNLV Goalkeeper turned Physical Therapist and my good friend, Emily has endured a very long rollercoaster of a ride throughout her College Soccer Career. This is how she handled it and found her purpose by being inspired at a very young age.
