Adroit Dojo Podcast: Recent Episodes

Jeremy

Adroit Dojo is a small Dojo and gym in ICT, KS. I teach out of my home gym, and at a local community rec center. I'm a certified personal trainer who has been studying fitness for 20+ years. I've been learning and studying martial arts for 30 years as of 2022. How I train and what I teach could be summarized as MMA based on the philosophy of Jeet Kune Do. Based on Boxing, a conglomeration of striking arts (that eerily resembles Muay Thai, even though I never trained it)Judo, and BJJ.

  1. Drills such as defend against foam strikes, or side step strike, combo attacks (1-3)
  2. Turn based slow spar. E.G. They attack twice, then I attack twice. It gets them used to the idea of attacking and defending in range, with technique.
  3. Foam Contact Slow Spar , introducing getting hit with foam.
  4. Shoulder Tag. Basically free spar with contact where you’re trying to tag their shoulder .
  5. Shoulder & Thigh tag. Same as before but includes the thigh as a target.
  6. Soft contact free spar.
  7. Medium contact sparring
  8. fast paced or high pressure soft contact free spar.
