There’s power in admitting that we don’t have it all together. As Black women, we often fall into the trap of trying to live up to the expectation of being “strong”. But the reality is, being “strong” can do more harm than good when we don’t make room for ourselves to feel our emotions and make room for our own needs. In this episode, Meaux invites friend and creative artist, Bree Lee aka Brownskinned to explore the idea of the “strong black woman” and how Black women can show up with strength while still displaying humanity and vulnerability.

According to a recent Business Insider article, Black women are leaving corporate America in record numbers to launch their own businesses. This is due to the ongoing experiences of microaggressions, unequal pay, workplace discrimination, burnout and often doing things below their job description or title.

In this episode, Meaux is chatting with founder and CEO of The Diaspora Collective, Evelia Davis, who left her role as a senior-level executive nearly 4 years ago to pursue entrepreneurship. Evelia is sharing much-needed wisdom from her journey of entrepreneurship as well as shedding light on how to navigate corporate as a Black woman.
