Welcome to my very first solo podcast. This is a part of my weekly series called Wisdom Bites where I will be sharing my failures, mistakes, disasters and wins so you can learn from my 40,000+ hours of experience and avoid these as you transition or scale into a profitable and scalable coaching, consulting or service-based business. These 15-minute wisdom bites will be delivered each Monday and this is episode #1 of this series titled - Starting a business is easy, creating it is hard but becoming it is harder.

In this episode I break down three parts to starting, creating and becoming a successful business owner or entrepreneur based on my experience, especially if you want to transition out of your corporate senior role and start a consulting business or you have already started your business but you feel like you are still the worlds best kept secret.

This is what I cover in this episode:

  1. Making the decision to start a business is easy. Once you have made the decision you are halfway there
  2. Implementing the moving parts is hard
  3. I digress for a few moments and speak to people who are in a corporate role and desperately want to leave and start their own business. This is what I want to say DON’T LEAVE YOUR JOB UNTIL YOU HAVE A CONTINGENCY PLAN IN PLACE.
  4. Why you need to create a contingency plan
  5. Don’t learn all the moving parts – it takes years and by the time you learn it, it will be obsolete
  6. Belong to a tribe
  7. Get comfortable being uncomfortable
  8. Accept the discomfort
  9. Connect with emotions
  10. Activate your Creative genius

Leadership is subjective. Everyone has their version of it. But what truly makes an outstanding leader? To me, it’s someone who can withstand adversity, a crisis, challenge the status quo, move into dangerous territories, manage different human agendas, work through propaganda, love their team, great planners and problem solvers, and at the same time maintain a calm, grounded composure with a big heart. I had to search high and low to find a leader who could tick all of these boxes. Through thick and thin, I found him. Meet Mark Ashby.A man who understands the battleground at the highest military ‘elite’ level.A man who has walked parts of Iraq that you and I will never know.A man who fought for freedom, morality, and a driving passion to bring his team home. I have never met anyone like this human. His superpower is bringing the best out of people. He is the greatest storyteller I have ever met. His stories touch the soul at a deep level and he can turn any complex situation into simple. He dives deep in this podcast interview on leadership from a completely different perspective that touches the heart and soul.

Mel Schwartz, an acclaimed author and Psychotherapist talks to us about possibilities and how quantum physics plays a big role in creating our beliefs and ultimately our reality. This interview is more like a masterclass. If you are the sort of person who needs scientific validation on how the Law of Attraction really works, this is the episode for you.

Mel Schwartz is a psychotherapist, a marriage counselor, author of The Possibility Principle, a two-time TEDx speaker, a podcaster, and a leadership consultant. He earned his MSW from Columbia University in New York City and his Master of Philosophy from Lancaster University in England. Mel has enjoyed several defining moments in his life, which has enabled him to live the life of the self-actualization that he espouses now in mid-life in business with two young children.

Mel had been living the life he had planned, yet he felt a desire for deeper fulfillment, longing for a calling with far deeper purpose. And in one of his defining moments, Mel chose to welcome the uncertainty that lay ahead as he embarked on an entirely new path. He closed his business, applied to and enrolled in graduate school to follow his emerging passion, serving others as a psychotherapist.

Mel became excited by new ways of thinking that propelled him to transcend the limiting protocols taught in graduate school. He began to immerse himself in emergent ways of thinking, coming from quantum physics philosophy and other areas beyond the field of psychology. This evolving perspective enabled him to forget a singular new therapeutic approach from which to assist his clients.

Have you ever wondered how to make your video content a scroll stopper on social media? If you are a regular content consumer and creator on #LinkedIn, you will be familiar with Jonathan Palmer who is a genius at video marketing and can effortlessly command 100K+ views within hours of posting.

This 45-minute interview will not disappoint you. It's literally a masterclass on Video marketing and a lot of golden gems to take away.

Here are some things to ask yourself in 2022? Do you see yourself as a media company?

If you have a presence on social media and you are creating or curating content, you are a media company AND video is going to be BIG in 2022.

In fact, I truly believe that YouTube will lead with not just content but individuals like you and me who will start their own TV show, build up a community and monetise it. I mean who needs an agent to be the next Oprah. You can literally do it yourself.

There is a niche for every possible problem or passion on the planet and there is no shortage of content creators who can provide a supply of content to continue to feed their beloved fans and followers.

Video is one of those mediums that you either love or hate. My suggestion is to start loving it and create an entire strategy around it.

Sit back and relax and enjoy this interview. If you love the interview, please give it a five-star rating and leave a comment. The world is in a state of distraction. Adults are distracted socially and emotionally. Children are distracted by technology and yet I think we are missing the entire point of distraction and its true meaning. We have become a society that can’t think for ourselves, ask pragmatic questions and watching Netflix and reality TV is somehow widely accepted as entertainment. To be honest, all of this is nothing but a distraction - if it consumes you. For a vast majority, thinking has become “too hard” or “too time-consuming”. Stillness is uncomfortable and boredom creates distress and severe uneasiness. Where are we heading? I am asking a serious question here. In this issue of Authoritti5.0 there is only ONE person in the universe who could help me unpack my concern about the distracting economy and that is best-selling author Nir Eyal, who wrote the book Indistractable. Nir Eyal is in one word – OUTSTANDING. He is pragmatic, grounded and brings an innerstanding of distraction by combining his academic and entrepreneurial expertise. As a longtime leadership contributor for Forbes, Amy covers personal transformation and its impact on career growth.

In this interview, we discuss

Get clear on what you want.Clarity is essential to creating a path to your goals.

Sell your destiny, not your history. If something is no longer relevant, it’s muddying your message and will confuse—or lose—your intended audience. Instead, let clarity be your friend and be ruthless about paring down your profile to support what you want to do, not what you’ve done.

Identify your common thread.Even if you’ve had seemingly unrelated jobs in vastly different industries, you can always find a common thread that weaves together your personal and professional experiences into a compelling narrative.

Serve, don’t sell.Focus on providing value with your content rather than making a sales pitch.

Embrace consistency and discipline. The savviest thought leaders stick to two fundamental branding concepts in telling their career stories: consistency and discipline. Maintain your “voice,” look, and feel in all your communications and stick with those few areas where you have expertise. If you would like to contact Amy, her details are below:W: www.amyblaschka.comLI: linkedin.com/in/amyblaschka/
