In this week's episode of The Podcast Trapper, I'm talking about how I market my podcast studio.

I know a lot of people are interested in opening their own studio, and while finding a space and equipment is important, marketing is equally crucial.

I focus on two aspects: ads and content. I don't do social media ads, but instead, I use Hulu and YouTube ads to target specific areas and demographics. I also create high-quality content that showcases the studio and its capabilities.

This approach has been quite effective, and we've seen an increase in bookings and clients. If you're interested in opening your own studio, check out my Amazon storefront for equipment recommendations.

In this week's episode of The Podcast Trapper, I'm discussing podcast growth tactics and marketing strategies that I feel are not talked about enough.

As a podcast producer I worked with anywhere from 25 to 50 podcasts in a given two to three month period, and I've seen some tactics that work across the board.

In this episode, I'll be sharing some of those tactics, including the importance of social media, being a guest on other podcasts, promo swaps, feed drops, and directories and more.

So, if you're looking to grow your podcast, this episode is for you!

In this week's episode of The Podcast Trapper, I am welcoming an incredible guest who I admire very much: Michelle Khouri. Michelle is the Founder & CEO and the Executive Producer of FRQNCY Media. Her first client was Coca-Cola - and since then, FRQNCY has produced podcasts for Apple, Spotify, TurboTax, Vox Creative, Diane Von Furstenburg, iHeartMedia, Olaplex and more. Today she’s also giving us a sneak peek into Recordical, a new business she’s launching--designed specifically for audio creators.

In this episode, I am asking Michelle the hard-hitting questions I have always wanted to discuss with her as a fellow Founder and creator: How she works through fear as an entrepreneur, why she believes that brand research is important, and how she leveraged her big vision to launch an incredibly impactful brand.

If you are an entrepreneur, creator or podcaster, this episode will motivate and inspire you. Michelle has essential advice on how to dismiss the critics and silence your own self-doubt. She also shares actionable steps to know whether you’re in alignment with your purpose.

I hope you love my conversation with Michelle!

Especially as we head into a recession, I’m here to give you a pep talk. Frustration is at an all-time high and while your feelings are valid, they might not be as productive as you think. The thing is - your audience does not owe you. Let’s discuss…

In this week's episode of The Podcast Trapper, I'm asking an important question: Do you still want to attend podcast conferences?!

Today we’re facing this question head-on and asking ourselves what value they offer, why they create connections in marginalized communities and how we can reimagine conference hosting if we decide to do so.

I discuss the role race plays in podcast conference funding (predominantly white podcast conferences have not been getting canceled, just saying…) and shining a spotlight on the fact that funding is drying up, big time. In this episode, we’ll talk about podcast conferences and what role they play.

This is a hot take episode because I feel like it needs to be said: Not everyone with a podcast is a podcast coach.

No, I am not gatekeeping! I know many exceptional podcast coaches and strategists who are ultra-qualified. But for each of them, I have heard literally dozens of horror stories about expensive coaches that overpromised and underdelivered, leaving podcasters’ dreams shattered.

Today, I am sharing more about who not to hire - and some important questions to ask when you are in the market for a great podcast strategist!

Today’s podcast guest changed the trajectory of her entire career from healthcare to media with a single leap of faith.

This week I'm joined by Akilah Ffriend, Media Executive and On-air Host for Revolt Original Podcast Monuments to Me .

Akilah has a rich background in marketing and content acquisition at top media companies including Apple TV, HBO Max, NBCU and more; but before this, she thought she'd be in healthcare.

Akilah joins me to discuss how she used her content from her independent podcast to land a host role on Revolt, her advice for independent creators to increase our visibility and how we all can position ourselves with our content.

This episode touches on the age old question of "how can I get picked up by major networks". So here's the answers you've been waiting for.

Tune in, leave a review and email me at support@adodemedia.com to share what you'd like me to cover on the next episode of The Podcast Trapper.

I launched The Podcast Trapper on YouTube and lets just say people were not too happy. From people calling me a racist for launching Blk Pod Collective to people telling me I was fat, it all got quite interesting on this here platform.

So this is my response to what people had to say. I did get a little passionate so please don't be offended.

In today’s episode of The Podcast Trapper, I discuss why you should consider niching your podcast, how to choose your niche and some observations I have about niched podcasts from my own experience.

When you niche your podcast, you give your audience what they want and none of what they don’t. A niche helps you set expectations. It’s an amazing tool to help you create content, stay relevant and avoid boring your listeners!

I’ll be sharing some of my favorite questions to ask yourself as a podcaster. These are the questions that I make sure every client at Adode Media Studios gets clear on before they ever hit record!

In this week’s episode of The Podcast Trapper, I discuss something that I hope you’re super familiar with…Podcast listener reports.

If you don’t know about these yet, welcome to the wonderful world of podcast listener data. These stats have great power to us podcast creators. The problem is, these stats are usually…pretty vague. They discuss “podcast listeners” or even “women listeners,” but there is not much detail into which women are tuning in! I know many of us would love to know whether black women, nonbinary people, asian or latina women are consuming your content, right?!

This is important information to us creators, because our culture affects how we listen to content.

Today I’ll be sharing WHY podcast listener data affects your podcast strategy, HOW it could be more diverse and WHAT we can do about it.

This week’s episode of The Podcast Trapper was a little different. I decided to jump into a topic that is absolutely essential….not just for podcasters, but for every entrepreneur ever. Let’s talk about boundaries!

My question for you is this. Are you burnt out? Exhausted? Stressed? Are you doing too much of what you don’t enjoy, and not enough of what you do? Are you constantly toggling between eleven different apps and programs trying to stay on top of everything?

Today I’m sharing my vulnerable thoughts about how I set boundaries in my own business. I strongly encourage you to stop, drop and listen.

One of your most frequently-asked questions is, “How much did it cost to open Adode Media Studios?”

If you know Atlanta, know that sugar daddies are really popular here . But folks, I don’t have one! I don’t have rich parents. I didn’t even take out a massive loan or go into credit card debt to launch Adode Media. I saved money by working a corporate job, working a second job, and renting out the lower part of my house.

So without further ado, let me tell you a little more about how I saved, what I bought and what you can learn from it! Let’s talk numbers…

During the pandemic, many of you started your own businesses.

If you were bold enough to take a risk and build your own legacy, congratulations - you have the spirit of an entrepreneur!

But now, you’re comparing yourself to Influencers who are lounging on beaches in the Caymans while you hustle and grind. Don’t they make it look easy? They’re answering emails on the way to hot yoga while you wonder if you’re doing it all wrong. You might blame yourself for being unbalanced, a workaholic, or for leaning too hard into “hustle culture”. But let me tell you a hot truth: Building a business is work.

Yes, that’s right - If you’re working hard, you’re doing it right. And if you haven’t achieved work-life balance yet, you’re not bad at business.

It’s time for a major mindset reframe.

Welcome back for another week of The Podcast Trapper, I’m your host Ona Oghogho and today I’m sharing the story of how I got started in podcasting.

For those of you who don’t know me, hi, welcome! Besides launching The Podcast Trapper this year I’ve also launched 3 different businesses all related to podcasting, within the last 3 years (and yes, I am tired!). We’re starting today’s journey way, way back even before the launch of Fierce Ass Boss, my first podcast back in 2019, with my untimely exit from corporate America.

From leaving corporate America to finding strangers to talk to on the internet, to eventually podcasting, today’s episode is a whirlwind of determination from someone who realized their dream career turned out to be something they never wanted to go back to.
