I AM A WOMAN: Recent Episodes

Jennifer Strickland

What is a Woman, and what is her purpose? Some people don’t even know the answer to that question anymore. In a culture that degrades the value of being female, do girls even look forward to womanhood? With all they’ve seen online, maybe not, and I don’t blame them. The media promotes a false image of women that doesn’t ring true for most of us.

If you are anything like me, you just want to be a better friend, wife, mother, sister, daughter — Or you are a single woman who wants to use your voice to bring positive change in your home, family, and nation—and help the people that matter to you most.

Hi, my name is Jennifer Strickland. I am an author, speaker, and the founder of a ministry called U R More, and I make some really good spaghetti! I’m madly in love with my husband (who I call the Cowboy) and together we have 3 amazing kids. I’ve written books like Beautiful Lies, Girl Perfect, and More Beautiful Than You Know, to teach women their identity and worth, despite what the magazines say. I also spent 15 years working around the world as a professional model, and trust me, I learned a lot about women!

So What is a Woman? That’s a good question, and I believe the answers are found in conversations that shape us — which is why I am the host of the I Am a Woman Podcast, where we are going to challenge each other to be a positive voice in a world that really needs us right now.

And, I will be digging into my favorite place to read, the Bible, which is like an endless treasure chest—And when we pull out the name “Woman,” Whoa. Man. There’s a lot in there!

And if you know me at all, you know I’m not going to shy away from the tough topics—like sex, gender, and the laws that hurt and help us—because we will expose the harmful lies our culture promotes about womanhood and remember who we are created to be. It’s going to be awesome, so be sure to come along for the ride!

Make sure to subscribe today so you don’t miss an episode! Let’s talk about women—and return to the true meaning of our name—so we can be a light in a dark place, shining brighter than ever. Just hit the subscribe button and I’ll see you on the inside! Remember: I am a woman, and my name means LIFE!

Most people hear “made in God’s image” and think body image. But what if it’s so much bigger than that?

In this episode, Jennifer takes you deep into the ancient Hebrew language of Genesis to uncover what it truly means to bear the image of God — not just as a physical reflection, but as a spiritual calling, a divine designation, and an action you were created to live out every day.

The name Elohim — God’s name in the very first verse of the Bible — holds a secret. And when you understand what’s hidden in the letters, it changes how you see yourself, your gifts, and your purpose as a woman made in His image.

In this episode:

— The first two letters of the Bible and why God starts with His Son’s name, not His own

— Elohim: what God’s name actually means in Hebrew

— and what the pictograph reveals about who He is — The Ruach: why the Spirit shows up on the scene as a feminine word

— and what that says about women

— Zakhar (male) and Nekeivah (female): the hidden meanings behind the Hebrew words for male and female

— and why they will change how you see your identity

— Why the female in God’s language means the setting for a precious stone

— the one appointed to carry future generations

— Deborah, Judges, and the daughters who prophesied: what the Bible actually says about women in leadership

— Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12: how Paul himself gives the gifts of prophecy, teaching, and leadership equally to both men and women

— Why your body is not your identity — and where to anchor your worth instead

— A personal story: 31 years after crying out to God in Tuscany, what He is doing in Jennifer’s family today

— An invitation: if you want to learn how to turn your mess into a mission field, Jennifer has a free masterclass coming up

What if the most painful, difficult, shameful season of your life is actually the most powerful message you carry? In this episode, Jennifer Strickland unpacks one of the most liberating truths in Scripture — that God does not wait until you are cleaned up, credentialed, or have it all together before He commissions you as a messenger. He meets you in the mess. He calls you by name in the middle of it. And then He sends you.

Through the stories of two of the most powerful women in Scripture — the Woman at the Well in John 4 and Mary Magdalene — Jennifer shows us the pattern God uses again and again: mess to encounter to message to mission field. No seminary degree required. No perfect past required. Just an encounter with the living Christ — and the willingness to go and tell what He has done.

Whether you are in the middle of a crucible right now, or you are sitting on a story you have been too afraid or too ashamed to share, this episode is your invitation to reach for the gold God has buried in your hardest season — and give it away.

WHAT YOU’LL HEAR IN THIS EPISODEThe Woman at the Well — John 4 Jesus meets a woman at the well in the middle of the day — an outcast, living in shame, hiding from her community. He puts her whole mess on the table. And then He calls her “dear woman” — a term of endearment, not shame — and announces His identity as the Messiah to her first. Within moments, she becomes the first evangelist to her entire village. She didn’t have permission from the people. She had an encounter with Jesus, and that was enough. And many believed because of her testimony.

Mary Magdalene — Luke 8 & John 20 Mary Magdalene — seven demons cast out, a woman the world had written off — followed Jesus from the very beginning, supporting His ministry out of her own means. She was the last at the cross and the first at the tomb. And when Jesus rose, He called her by name and commissioned her: “Go and tell.” Her mess became the first announcement of the gospel. We are still talking about her testimony two thousand years later.

The Meaning of Testimony Your testimony is not a single dramatic moment. It is the record of God’s activity in your life — how He showed up, who He proved Himself to be, what He taught you in the middle of your hardest season. When God has shown up for you in any way — He is your message.

Jennifer’s Personal Story Jennifer shares how her own crucibles — the eating disorder, the approval issues, the painful seasons she did not want to live through, let alone write about — became the gold that has now reached women through, and God continues to multiply the gospel through book after book, reader after reader, life after life.

Psalm 68:11 — The Warring Women of Zion “The Lord gives the word, and great is the army of women who proclaim the good news.” You are part of that army. And your story is your weapon.

KEY SCRIPTURES John 4:16-42 — The Woman at the Well * Luke 8:2 — Mary Magdalene and the women who followed Jesus * John 20:11-18 — Mary Magdalene at the tomb: “Go and tell”* * Psalm 68:11 — The army of women who proclaim the good news * Isaiah 52:7 — How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news

KEY TAKEAWAYSYou do not have to have your whole story cleaned up before you share it — authenticity is the doorway, not perfection.

Your testimony is not one dramatic moment. It is the ongoing record of who God is proving Himself to be in your life.

The woman at the well did not hide her past — she led with it. And many believed because of what she said.

Every book Jennifer has written began with a crucible. Every reader whose life was changed is fruit from that fire.

One act of obedience — one story shared, one book written, one conversation had — can multiply the gospel into generations you will never see.

Have you ever felt like the enemy had a window into your soul — constantly reminding you of your mistakes, your failures, your silence — and you started to believe it?

After a full year away from the microphone, Jennifer Strickland is back — and she is sharing everything. Where she’s been. What God taught her. What the Regeneration recovery program at Watermark Church uncovered deep in her soul. And the one truth that set her free: You are not condemned. You are commissioned. In this first episode of In God’s Eyes with Jennifer Strickland, Jennifer opens up about two years in the Regeneration Program — the inventory process, the conviction, the confession, the clearing — and what it means to come back to your calling after God has cleaned the inside of your cup. Drawing from the calling of Isaiah in Isaiah 6, Romans 8:1, Matthew 28:18–20, and a powerful clip from Pastor Phillip Anthony Mitchell, Jennifer walks you through the process God uses to move us from conviction to commission — and why the enemy’s voice of condemnation is the lie you must learn to recognize and refuse.

This episode is for you if you have ever:

→ Stepped back from your calling and wondered if you could return

→ Battled the difference between Holy Spirit conviction and enemy condemnation

→ Struggled with people-pleasing, pride, approval-seeking, or jealousy

→ Felt like your failures defined you

→ Known in your head that you’re forgiven — but not yet felt it in your heart Your sin does not define you. Your mistakes are not your identity. You are cleared by the blood of Jesus Christ — and you are sent.

This is one of my favorite interviews! Abby Johnson, founder of Pro-Love Ministries, helps us understand the humanity behind what happens in abortion clinics and how to love people on both sides of the debate.

Abby Johnson has always been fiercely determined to help women in need. This desire led her to a career with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and ultimately caused her to flee the organization, becoming an outspoken advocate for the pro-life movement.

During her eight years with Planned Parenthood, Abby quickly rose through the organization’s ranks to become a clinic director. However, she grew increasingly disturbed by what she witnessed. Abortion was a product that Planned Parenthood was selling, not an unfortunate necessity they were trying to decrease. Still, Abby loved the women who entered her clinic and cared for her co-workers. Despite her growing unrest, she remained and worked to support women in crisis.

Everything changed on September 26, 2009, when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion. She watched in horror as a 13-week-old baby fought for its life but ultimately lost it at the hands of the abortionist.

At that moment, she fully grasped what abortion truly was and the cause she had dedicated her life to. A dramatic transformation washed over Abby. Desperate and confused, she sought help from a local pro-life group. She vowed to advocate for life in the womb and expose abortion for what it truly is.

Today, Abby travels across the globe sharing her story, educating the public about pro-life issues, advocating for the unborn, and reaching out to abortion clinic staff still working in the industry. She founded And Then There Were None, a ministry designed to assist abortion clinic workers in transitioning out of the industry. Since 2012, this ministry has helped over 680 workers leave the abortion field. In 2019, Abby also founded ProLove Ministries, an umbrella organization to house pro-life projects and affiliations that fill gaps in the movement. Abby lives in Texas with her husband and their eight precious children.

I had the incredible opportunity to speak in Canada last fall and wanted to share the messages with you. Rachelle Fletcher of The Goodness Project put on our first-ever BEHOLD conference for women. At the conference, I taught the meaning of the word “woman” and what God says about biblical gender in a four-part series. This is a freeing, encouraging message for women—and for men too! It is intended to help believers understand how to respond to the gender movement with confidence and compassion. I hope you enjoy it and share it with friends, family, and your local church!

I am so honored to have Lisa Bevere on the show today. She is one of the very few well-known Christian leaders who has spoken publicly about the dismantling of womanhood in our culture and the undermining of women’s worth in the church. In her new book The Fight for Female, she says the idea of womanhood is being assailed on all fronts: sexualized by our culture, eliminated from language, and silenced by the church. For decades, both sexes have been systematically undermined and stripped of their strength. Male and female were originally created as a power union, but that turned into a power struggle.

Lisa and I agree on one thing: it’s time to unite and be confident in our divine identity. It’s time to raise up a positive banner for women and fight for female!

You can be a part of this commission by modeling the truth to younger generations: womanhood is a gift and an identity given to us by God for His glory.

I had the pleasure to interview Julie Lane during the Harris-Walz campaign, and wow, what a powerful story! Julie Lane, Reduxx advocate and co-founder of Women Are Real describes herself as “just another woman in the trenches.” She joins me to talk about California and all the battles being waged that will ultimately either make or break our society in America. She talks about the coalitions being formed to protect women’s spaces; the lawsuits, prisons, harm to kids and vulnerable adults, working across the aisles, other battles in other states…all of it!

Julie co-founded Women Are Real in 2022, which has grown to over 120 women mostly in CA, with 40 or so active in the Bay Area. Women Are Real is non-partisan, composed of:

  • 65% Democrats/former dems
  • 56% Former Athletes
  • 45% Lesbian or Bisexual
  • 17% Educators
  • 5% Republicans

They are taking a stand for women–real women–and like me, aren’t backing down. Join the movement with Women Are Real here: womenarereal.org

Today I interview Jenny Donnelly, the founder of Her Voice Movement, who is gathering women at The Million Woman March in Washington D.C. this weekend. She’s a powerful voice speaking up for women and children in today’s culture. Jenny has 5 children and lives in Portland, Oregon. Jenny and her husband, Bob, are founders of Her Voice Movement, which exists to awaken and activate the voices of women and believers to turn America back to God. They are helping to mobilize a grassroots movement here in the United States that originated in Peru called, #DontMessWithOurKids. Peru successfully turned their nation to God and this has become an answer for America as the attack on our kids has gone too far. Small prayer groups called Prayer Hubs are the foundation of the movement. Jenny and her team also host equipping schools and conferences, minister freedom in Christ, and empower families to transform culture. On this episode I interview Cary Williams, a Level IV Olympic Level Boxing Coach with USA Boxing. Watch on Youtube Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dInlaAio_W0

Over the past 27 years in the boxing and fitness industry, Cary has been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX as well as in national publications such as Shape, Energy, Fitness, Entrepreneur, Inc., SUCCESS, FHM, USA Today and The New York Times. Cary has even graced the cover of Muscle & Fitness HERS and appeared on the popular NBC show, Fear Factor. As well, on EXTRA and on Lifetime network as a trainer on the show Fit2Fat2Fit and on CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer.

Cary has contributed to numerous national publications, news shows on tov and radio. She is also a key note speaker giving motivational speeches at venues and schools on a regular basis.

In the boxing world, Cary boxed competitively in the amateurs and won the Pacific Northwest Women’s Tournament before hanging up her gloves. She is now a Level IV Olympic Level Boxing Coach with USA Boxing. Cary has trained many boxers, some of which have made it to Olympic Trial Qualifying Tournaments. Cary caught the attention of many when she trained and cornered a female boxer for 3 Olympic Qualifying tournaments. All done without the help of an assistant coach in the corner for each fight.

As a spokesperson for Everlast, Cary created a boxing class format for 24 Hour group fitness called Everlast ShadowBox and was a part of several print ad campaigns for Everlast.

Cary founded the “Knocking Out Obesity” tour which stopped at 10 of the “fattest” cities in the nation (according to Men’s Fitness). Cary conducted non-contact boxing workouts with students at 10 middle schools in the nation.

Cary has worked with thousands of young girls teaching them boxing, but the biggest lessons they have learned from Cary is that they can be strong, smart and successful without sacrificing their femininity. Her work with young women got her recognized by The California Legislature along with Brandi Chastain and several other women in sports, for her contribution and impact on girls’ sports.

Cary has taken those years of experience in the boxing, fitness and gym world to create something unique for women in combat sports….. Tussle!

Tussle not only designs and creates gear specifically for girls and women but also gloves that are the most versatile on the market! Before now, boxing gloves needed to be taken off to lift weights, get water, use a phone, etc. With an eye for innovation and a portfolio of Olympic level boxers and everyday gym warriors, Cary created a boxing glove that will never interrupt a workout. Convenient but with a beautiful, high-quality design.

This is the second part of my interview with one of my favorite Instagram influencers, Natalie Jean Beisner. Natalie is a former liberal Democrat “pro-choice” atheist turned Christian (mostly) conservative political and cultural commentator and ardent pro-life activist and anti-feminist. The response to covid–especially when compared to the response to the BLM unrest–changed her life, woke her up, and started her down the wholly unexpected path she’s on now. She was born and raised in Southern California and still resides behind enemy lines in Los Angeles. A former actress of many years, she holds a BFA in Theatre. Last year, she made an ultimately somewhat viral video detailing her walk away from the Democratic Party, and you can find her online, mostly on X and Instagram, where she makes short videos dismantling leftist “logic” in usually 90 seconds or less. You can also find her on college campuses periodically touring with Brandon Straka and the WalkAway movement.“One of the most pathetic—and dangerous—signs of our times is the growing number of individuals and groups who believe that no one can possibly disagree with them for any honest reason.”

Today I interview Bridgette Cameron Ridenour, the sister to Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron Bure, who knew what it felt like to be overlooked in the entertainment industry. Today we have one of my favorite people on the show, @the.patriot.barbie. After refusing to comply with the state of Oregon’s draconian COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Lindsey was catapulted into the national spotlight. She opened her salon against national mandates and became the iconic voice of freedom, being notoriously labeled “The Patriot Barbie” by the woke mob.

Her public defiance of government overreach was the bold act that opened the nation’s eyes.

Lindsey Graham is no stranger to battle. In her one of a kind, tell all journey, she nationally and publicly details both the grind and the glory of her life. Drawing on past experiences and real world insights, Lindsey invites her audience into a journey that is both inspiring and enlightening. With vulnerability and candor, Graham openly details her colorful and powerful testimony, her fall from grace and her fresh start with strong faith and an unwavering conviction, all blossoming from one life altering moment in 2020.

Her boldness and unapologetic fight gives her fans and followers hope, backbone, and courage to boldly stand up for themselves, their families and their beliefs in the midst of the tyranny that has become commonplace.

Since dedicating her life to activism and freedom fighting, Lindsey has become an influential leader on social media.

After her viral speech at a school board meeting dressed as a cat in 2022, her battle for women’s rights and the innocence of children wqas strenthened. Lindsey has solidified her place and her voice at the front of the battle lines for women, pre born babies and moms.

She is the fierce, bold and unapologetic voice for patriots and women across America.

As she champions strong men, embraces her family values, and empowers women, she has become one of the most inspiring leaders in the conservative movement.

Lindsey is a wife, a mom of three, a pro-life activist, a national keynote speaker and a two-time author of her memoir, Targeted as well as a children’s faith-based book. She founded a patriotic apparel company called The Patriot Barbie Shop and is the co-founder of a conservative fashion brand called Pretty Little Patriot. She is an ambassador for Turning Point USA, the Director of Media Relations for Freedom Square, and an influential activist on social media.

Do we base our identity on our feelings or sexual persuasion? Or on something else? Our culture has created countless new “gender identity” terms–and is punishing those who don’t use them.

Should our focus be on pronouns, or should we focus on our verbs (what we do) and our adjectives (the way we make people feel)? Which part of speech accurately portrays who we are and what we value? Pronouns or Verbs?

In this important episode, Jennifer Strickland explains the “Loaded Language” of Gender Ideology–how to recognize it and what to focus on instead.

You don’t want to miss this important conversation I had with Landon Starbuck on the I AM A WOMAN podcast. We spoke about child grooming and what we can do about it as parents. Landon is a wealth of knowledge on child exploitation and endangerment on both the internet and in schools.

You will be amazed at how child exploitation actually works, and the places it begins–on your kids’ phones and in their schools.

Listen to Part One on Apple Podcasts.

Listen to Part One on YouTube: https://youtu.be/LI-DXS-N9Vg

Listen to Part Two on YouTube: https://youtu.be/qJE8AGJRuc4

**Note from Jennifer: I highly recommend watching the documentary Landon refers to, Childhood 2.0, and take stock of what messages are coming to our children from social media and the internet–and how essential outdoor, free play away from phones is for their mental health. Mental health matters, and that is our top priority concerning the children.

Landon Starbuck is one of the nation’s premiere voices on child trafficking in America, and she is one to follow! Fearless, articulate, and transparent, she helps us understand how child exploitation works, and how to prevent it.

Landon Starbuck is a national thought leader, speaker, writer and advocate countering Human Trafficking; specifically child trafficking and child exploitation. Landon is the Founder & President of Freedom Forever; a non-profit dedicated to protecting children from trafficking & exploitation and preserving freedom for all. Landon left the music industry as a Billboard charting singer/songwriter after uncovering the exploitatioen within the entertainment industry. She continued making music as an independent artist and donating 100% of her sales to fight modern day slavery.

Now, she dedicates her life to advocacy; combatting the trafficking and exploitation of the most vulnerable. She inspires young women to find their true identity and power through purpose, not sexualization. Her heart for service, working with survivors and prevention education led her to start her own non-profit where she brings to light many aspects of exploitation that are hidden.

In addition to running her non-profit, Landon serves on the board of Operation Lightshine, an anti-trafficking organization in Tennessee that works with law enforcement to rescue kids from trafficking and exploitation. She also serves on the Advisory Council for Lynn’s Warriors in New York, is a partner with The National Center On Sexual Exploitation and a member of The Coalition To End Sexual Exploitation.

In 2021, she directed the largest coalition mobilizing activists across the country in a rally & march at our southern border to expose the record level of human trafficking and exploitation occurring there. Tucker Carlson (FOX), Breitbart, OANN and more covered the unprecedented demonstration Landon led at the border. Landon has led counter trafficking activists across the country who understand the importance of preserving freedom for all in the fight against modern day slavery. Landon is unique in her authentic, common sense approach to education and prevention in combatting the demand within our culture via The Freedom Model.

In this sixth episode of the series “What is a Woman?,” Jennifer finalizes the true meaning of the word “woman” in the Bible. In ancient Biblical Hebrew, the word “man” spells “hands of fire” and “woman” spells “breath of fire.” In the advanced rendering of the name woman, the key difference is the woman’s name has the HEY, the Hebrew letter that means one who will announce, proclaim, perceive, and bring insight. Satan may bruise our heels, but we are going to crush his head.

In this show, Jennifer calls out Victoria Secret, the Miss Universe pageant, and the idea that men should be in women’s private spaces. In this first episode, Jennifer shares the origin of the I AM A WOMAN podcast, and the poetry that changed her life. You can find her framable identity poetry here.

She also shares the story of the interaction between Jesus, Simon, and the sinful woman from Luke 7:36-50–calling out the religious people who judge others for their sexual sin. While Simon judged the uninvited woman, Jesus blessed her with peace, which means “freed her from the distress from her sin.”

Jen also shares a letter she received from a mom about her rejection from the church after her daughter began to struggle with her sexual behavior and identity.

Other verses mentioned: Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19, Luke 14:12

What is a Woman, and what is her purpose? Some people don’t even know the answer to that question anymore. In a culture that degrades the value of being female, do girls even look forward to womanhood? With all they’ve seen online, maybe not, and I don’t blame them. The media promotes a false image of women that doesn’t ring true for most of us. If you are anything like me, you just want to be a better friend, wife, mother, sister, daughter — or you are a single woman who wants to use your voice to bring positive change in your home, family, and nation — and help the people that matter to you most. At the I AM A WOMAN Podcast, we believe in uplifting women and men in a positive light and being a beacon of hope for the next generation. Remember, I am a Woman, and My Name Means Life!
