It has been a big week for David Braun and Northwestern, as the interim tag was removed from Braun's title and he was named the full time coach in Evanston after a 5-5 start to the year. Purdue breaks a long losing streak this week, and Kory is elated to see it come from the running game. Tyrone Tracy and Devin Mockobee each went over 100 yards rushing in the 49-30 win over Minnesota. Among this week's highlights on the show:

Tracy and Mockobee were only the second duo to rush for 100 yards each in a game in the last 21 years.

A new football season means the return of former Purdue running back Kory Sheets and our in-season football podcast. This year we have a minor rebranding to Off the Tracks due to our contract with BLEAV running out, but we will have the same biweekly podcast with Kory throughout the season. The current plan is to record a recap podcast on Sunday nights for a Monday morning release, then record a Wednesday night preview for a Thursday release.
This week Jace, Kory and I take a first look at Fresno State and what the Bulldogs have to offer as they come to West Lafayette for the season opener. Spring football may be over, but the past week has been a very busy time for Purdue football. The spring session of the transfer portal has closed and coach Ryan Walters saw multiple players enter at the last minute. It was a rough weekend for Purdue basketball, as the Indiana Hoosiers beat the No. 1 ranked men's team by 5 in Bloomington, then the Hoosier women dominated Purdue in Mackey Arena on Sunday. There is still plenty to talk about though in this edition of the Boiler Upload Podcast:
- The women had a rough quarter, but are still in good shape to return to the NCAA Tournament.
- The men are fine in the long run and survived in an incredibly hostile environment.

Purdue was able to sign the bulk of its 2023 football recruiting class on Wednesday, and that comes after an eventful couple of weeks around the program. New coach Ryan Walters was able to hang on to many of recruits that were already committed, and he even added a nice piece that could be an instant impact player as a surprise. It took a little over a week, but Purdue has a new football coach. Ryan Walters is a young and up and coming coach who has been a successful assistant and coordinator, but the 2023 season in West Lafayette will be his first as a head coach. On the latest edition of the Boiler Upload Podcast Travis, Kyle, and Jace discuss the hire and give their initial thoughts:
- Just what type of coach is Walters?

Though nothing is official, at least at the time of this recording, in regards to the Purdue football coaching opening, there are a lot of rumors that the search may be nearing its end. The name Tyson Helton from Western Kentucky appears to be the current leader, but we recognize the situation is very fluid. Sunday night Kyle and Travis got together to talk about Tyson Helton and what he would mean for Purdue:
- Just what is his background?
- What about quarterback Austin Reed, who is already in the portal with 4,200 yards passing this year?
- How does Helton compare to Brohm at the same point in their careers?
- Where does Purdue stand in terms of holding on to its current players and its current 2023 recruits?
