I am a domestic abuse survivor, but I’m more than that. I’m a mother, wife, successful business woman, and a big dreamer. My story is not just about my experience as a domestic abuse survivor, it’s about hope, shifting mindset, and finding the strength to move in the right direction.
In my podcast I’m going to be sharing my story, my challenges and my learnings along the way - both business and personal - basically all the things!! I’m also going to bring on some guests now and then to share some helpful tips and lessons.
If I can do it, then so can you!
My friend Sharon shares her story and what she's gone on to achieve since - both with her business, and how she supports other survivors. Since recording Sharon has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours for her services to Domestic Abuse. I'm so proud of her - she is an inspiration!
About Sharon
Sharon Livermore MBE is a domestic abuse survivor, campaigner & founder of both Domestic Abuse Education & Kameo Recruitment. Domestic Abuse Education is a business consultancy that exists to educate businesses on what domestic abuse is, the many forms it takes and how to support employees who are, or may go through, domestic abuse in their lifetime. Sharon is the co-founder and influence behind “Sharon’s Policy”, a FREE template domestic abuse policy and guidance notes; Sharon’s mission is to ensure that all businesses across the UK have a domestic abuse policy in place.

ABOUT CHERYL
👋🏻 I'm Cheryl, the founder and CEO of Pink Pig Financials - a multi award winning lifestyle-focused firm of Accountants in the UK.
As a domestic abuse survivor I am deeply passionate about providing the support and confidence I wish I’d had to people taking their first steps into business. With a little support and guidance other survivors can step out from isolation, and rebuild a life they so deeply deserve and dream of - and never feel financially trapped ever again.
Setting up my business in 2014 was one of the scariest but most rewarding things I have ever done. I launched PPF to build a more flexible life around my family and gain some independence, and I believe all business owners can work towards their ideal lifestyle from day one of setting up a business.
Through PPF I am able to provide accountancy services to small businesses, making the whole process a lot more simple and efficient. Meaning business owners can focus on other areas of their business, and also spend more time doing the things they love with the people they love.
And on a personal level I'm about to start my Mentoring journey, sharing my story, inspiring and helping other survivors to gain their own independence, and to start dreaming again about what is possible.
If I can do it, then so can others. So I’m here to help them on their way and be the person I wished I had!
True story! Reaching out and asking for help changed my life in so many ways. In today's episode I share the story in more detail.

Imposter syndrome is loosely defined as doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud. It disproportionately affects high-achieving people, who find it difficult to accept their accomplishments. Many question whether they're deserving of accolades.
In today's episode I'm talking about my experiences with Imposter Syndrome and how I deal with those pesky feelings!

I really wasn’t sure whether to do this as a podcast episode or not, but as one of my goals is to raise awareness I think actually I owe it to everyone to go into what domestic abuse actually is.
When you see or hear the words domestic abuse or domestic violence your mind automatically goes to an image of a woman bloodied and beaten. I spoke in an earlier episode about the fact I didn’t believe my abuse was enough because I wasn't black and blue. Yes, I had bruises (mostly where people couldn’t see) and a broken bone - but the majority of my abuse came in other forms.
So today I'm shedding some light on the types of domestic abuse.

Escaping domestic abuse is never easy. On average, it takes a survivor 7 attempts to flee an abuser.
Years of abuse can leave women and children isolated from friends and family, and terrified of speaking out or seeking help.
Feelings of guilt or shame often felt, and on top of these emotional barriers is the lack of financial stability.
In today's episode I dive into the question - "Why doesn't she just leave"
Never forget:
You are strong, you are capable, you are loveable, and you are brave.
But most importantly, you are enough.

In today's episode I'm talking comparisonitis. Thanks to social media, this is a very real thing. Of course most people share all the shiny things, the wonderful things in their lives (which I applaud by the way, why shouldn't we share our accomplishments?!). But it doesn’t help us to feel rather rubbish if our lives don’t match up to what we see on line :(For a long time I would look at other accountancy practices, and their owners, and get annoyed and frustrated I wasn’t as far forward as them. But then I had to remind myself that although they’ve had their challenges too, I’ve had different challenges to overcome, and have been on my own journey. And I’d had my own achievements along the way - whether I acknowledged these or not!In this episode I'm sharing some of the ways I have worked on my mindset, and some tips to help if you have times you feel like this too.Never forget:You are strong, you are capable, you are loveable, and you are brave. But most importantly, you are enough. You’ve got thisCheryl x——————————————————-🎵 Music and production by the amazing Strike Productions🎧 LISTEN ONApple podcastSpotifyAnchor🎥 WATCH ONYouTube🤍 CONNECT WITH MEInstagramPPF InstagramLinkedIn👩🏼💻 WORK WITH PPFGet to know PPFGet Started🎙️ SPEAKING, PODCAST OR MEDIA ENQUIRIESPlease email on hello@cherylsharp.co.uk🛍️ CHECK OUT MY ETSY STOREFor resources➕ Be sure to follow my podcast!!——————————————————-ABOUT CHERYL👋🏻 I'm Cheryl, the founder and CEO of PinkPigFinancials - a lifestyle-focused firm of Accountants in the UK.As domestic abuse survivor I am deeply passionate about providing the support and confidence I wish I’d had to people taking their first steps into business. In today's episode I wanted to share something I believed for years. Because I wasn’t black and blue all the time I didn’t believe that my abuse was enough, that it didn’t count!
When you think of domestic abuse your mind goes straight to images of women that are beaten, bloodied and bruised. And generally that wasn’t me. Yes I’d had bruises, and a broken bone. But generally my bruises were in unseen places, and a lot of what I went through was mental abuse.
When I was first going through everything the mental side wasn’t spoken about that much, the focus was on the physical side of abuse. And that probably didn’t help me to see how bad things were. Because I didn’t fit in that box! Now all sides of abuse are recognised.
And it’s one of the reasons I want to speak out about my experiences - in the hope it will help others to see that what is happening to them is real, and it is abuse.
Never forget:
You are strong, you are capable, you are loveable, and you are brave.
But most importantly, you are enough.

Welcome to Episode 1 👋🏻
I thought I'd use this first episode to introduce myself so you can get to know a little about me, my story and why I am doing this.
Fear and self belief issues have plagued me for years, but I've spent the last couple of years working on myself, and I feel now is the right time to share my experiences with domestic abuse, my journey as a business owner and starting to believe in myself, and all the learnings along the way.
I'm now embarking on a journey of mentorship, hoping to inspire other survivors, show them what is possible and that they can go on and have an amazing life, including having love 🤍.
If I can help just one person to rebuild their life then I will have achieved. I want to be that person that I wished I'd had.
Never forget:
You are strong, you are capable, you are loveable, and you are brave.
But most importantly, you are enough.

PS. I'm launching on what would have been my nan's birthday, who was my biggest cheerleader in life 🤍
