Tough Crowd!
So, ScrewTube removed this video. Are we surprised? No, not even a little bit. Heh heh heh
They actually did it twice, it would seem because I received two separate notices explaining the strike. One of them said the material glorifies violence, which is apparently a no-no. The other one said that the material is somehow bullying and/or harrassing... someone. It did not specify who. Either way, both of them are inaccurate.
I wrote an appeal asking for a human to take a look at the thing. In it, I said:
Your autostrikebot has no sense of humor. Based on YT's obvious political position, one would think you guys would be all about this content. If after reviewing your robot's kneejerk reaction, you're not laughing hard enough to not only reverse the strike, but add the thing to your trending page for the day, I will be very surprised.
We'll see how far I get. Anyone wanna bet on the outcome?

I'm using a great free graphics editing software called paint.net to make these. You can download it ready-to-go straight from the site. It was the first graphics software I tried and while I've noodled around with more advanced (read: expensive) ones, I still love it the best. It's very easy to learn. If you decide to try it out and run into things that make you go Hmmm, I can probably walk you through them.
Note - I don't get anything from the company for promoting the product. But I do get a lot out of being of service to would-be artists... like, personally. So if what you see me doing here inspires to you try something new, it's a win-win type of deal.

So, anyway... I started streaming on Twitch last week just to find out firsthand how it works (and doesn't work). Here's what I can report:
- It's a very easy platform to stream on
- The chat emojis are totally idiotic
- Twitch is even more obnoxious than ScrewTube about music copyright
All in all, Twitch has made running these real-time on-screen graphic art streams a lot of fun. I like how smoothly everything works with OBS. But later, after the stream is done, I'm finding that at least 50% of the songs I play get muted. That's irritating. It's not like my eensy weensy channel is anywhere near monetization... meh.
It'll do! I'm not crazy about Twitch. The name of it alone sounds like an unfavorable physical condition. Whoever came up with it is clearly some kind of sadist. But I wanted to do this project away from my ScrewTube channel since some of the material I'm working on in these streams is behind the scenes stuff for upcoming seasons of the Drive-In. I would be running the streams over here on #3speak but haven't been able (so far) to get/stay connected. Until that obstacle is overcome, I'll keep on doin' the thing over there and then putting the replays up this way so they can be presented, music intact.
For me, the reason to do streams like this is mostly to keep busy. I'm one of those weirdos that needs to constantly be making some kind of art or I start getting grumpy. But also, if someone who's curious about how to do graphics happens upon the work and learns something from it, that's really where my heart is. I'm not a great teacher because I lack the needed patience to calmly talk a person through the steps. However, a lot of what I've learned to do came from watching others demonstrating their techniques. So, if these streams offer something useful to someone who's starting out, that makes me happy.

Hitchcock was a genius
He loves the Drive-in. But then, I mean, who could blame him, right? If you wanna be a genius, too (and why wouldn't you wanna be?) then you should love the drive in as well. That's just basic science. And there is no fighting science, according to 4 out of 5 scientists.
Thanks @3speak for working with me to bring the Drive-In show over here from ScrewTube. Knowing I have so much support from devoted Hivefriends that see the value in the kind of original content (totes not ANOTHER gamer channel) and the rich community-building that I strive to make possible through my art, and my promotion of other artists makes me feel like... well, shucks!
