This week Alex and Mario discuss the Miracles in the book of Mark, particularly the story of casting out the demon from a man who was tormented. These miracles really show who Jesus is without him having to say much at all. We also discuss Jesus calming the storm, people rejecting Him in his hometown and of course the feeding of the 5000.

We are back! After taking a break for a little more than a quarter, we are back with the Sabbath School Podcast.
This week Alex and Mario discuss the parables in the book of Mark, particularly the parable of the sower. These parables have a deep meaning for us today and are more than just a few good stories. We also discuss why Jesus chose to use parables to teach the people and why we should be showing our light to the world.

This lesson reviews the walk we take to be in God’s light. This walk, being one that was laid before us by God, at times can be a hard one to follow. We are tempted by sin at every point, but the one thing we have on our side to defend ourselves against the cunningness of sin is our faith in God, His Word, and the promise of His blessings. This week, the lesson reviews the word mercy and how it is utilized within the work found in the book of Psalms. We continue our study reviewing the book of Psalms. This week’s lesson revolves around God’s Judgement and how God responds to His people. We talk about the importance of recognizing that God is our strength and our source of life, much as how the Psalmists did when they wrote these works. This week we look at the Psalms and how they inform the Christians today how they should walk in this strange lands. The strange lands being the world that we all walk in. The way Satan has corrupted this world has changed it to being a place where those that are righteous and walk with God are seen as outcasts. This week we discuss how the book of Psalms are to be not only read, but also used as a way to pray to our Creator. We look at a few of the Psalms themselves and discuss the intent of the writer to call upon God to provide strength, guidance, wisdom and hope in times of despair, anger, sadness and loneliness. Despite these types of circumstances, the Psalms also provide hope for redemption and salvation as it helps us to understand that we must keep our attention and focus upon God. He will deliver us out of these situation and we are to trust in Him. We will be looking at the book of Esther this week and observe how her story with Mordecai translates into a way we can continue to mission even in places that are hostile or unfamiliar. Esther, who is a Jewish woman, is given the title of queen in Susa under the Persian empire. We observe how she can be a witness tp the power and glory of God through her willingness to put her life on the line to defend her people. This time we are focusing on Jesus as he took the disciples to lands that they normally would not go to to show them the importance of sharing the message of salvation to those who were not of the Jewish faith. This week we continue our lesson of doing God‘s mission by looking at Paul as he ministered to the city of Athens. During his time in Athens, his approach to how he ministered to the people within the city is how we should approach mission work when we are talking to those That have never heard of the gospel or of Jesus Christ. Paul used his knowledge, his wisdom and his love for God to reach the hearts and minds of those that were already in a faith following other gods and idols. As we continue our study of following God’s mission, we look at the importance of mission to the powerful. Through looking at some of the most powerful figures in the bible, we see how even with their power, they recognized their need for God in their lives and the importance of following Him. We see through the lives of Nebuchadnezzar, Nicodemus, and several others we see how power and wealth can be great assets, but also great barriers. We discuss why we should follow in the footsteps of Jesus in how he dealt with those in power and with wealth by seeing them a children of God like we are and to show them the truth in His word. With any mission, there are going to be areas that are hard to do. This weeks lesson is one of those areas that will be a challenge for many. We discuss our own struggles in ministering to the needy. Like any mission, there is a starting point and with God’s mission, this is no different. When spreading the word of God, we should start with neighbors, our own families, and with our friends. If we are able to start there, then there is no one we can’t reach out to. God’s mission is for all and if we are to be stewards of this mission, we need to be able to reach those closest to us with his promise. As it comes to any mission, preparation is key, but that is only one element you need when it come to doing the mission set for us by God. You need to be motivated to accomplish the things God has set forth for us to do. This weeks lesson is a further look at the message presented by Paul to the Ephesians. This part of the message deals more with how should prepare themselves for the battle against evil. By referencing the spiritual armor of God that must be donned by the listener to knowing that your strength and power come from Jesus, you must also ensure that your are in unity with your brothers and sisters. The battle will be tough but with God on you side, you can endure to victory.

This week on the podcast we are discussing Lesson 9, Living Wisely. This week will be looking at the importance of keeping your eyes focused on God. In this lesson we see Paul talking to the newly converted about avoiding temptation and moving past sin. The environment that they are in is quite similar to where we are today in our society. The comparisons of immorality, false words, and the changing of meanings are present in this age just as it was in the time Paul spoke. We learn that if we keep focus on God, allow his light to be our guide, and partake in the Holy Spirit, we can overcome and keep from stumbling.

We will take a brief look at the entire book to give us an idea of the topics we will be covering for the next 14 weeks. In this first lesson we talk about Paul the evangelist and what his main purpose was for writing the book Ephesians in the first place. These lessons are very applicable to us today in our own local churches. Ephesians is a Christ centered and Christ saturated letter that is urging those who read this book to reignite their spiritual commitment today.

This week on the podcast we dive into Revelation chapter 17 and break down the 2 women presented as two contrasting religious systems. We often hear the word Babylon mentioned in Revelation and we will discuss the confusion that is going on in our world today. God has His people scattered throughout the world in many different religious systems, and there will come a point where he will call them out to follow Him. There will arise many false teachings, forms of worship and practices but God is seeking for us to follow the true system that puts total dependence in Jesus and his word. We are not to trust human authority or put any dependence on human religious teachers. Today, there is a call to commitment that each one of us will be called to and how we choose to respond will determine which side we are on.

A call to worship the creator is needed today in a world that throws all kinds of theories at us trying to pull us away from serving our creator. We also discuss how we are to recognize and know that we have a companion during those times of tribulation. God is the God if creation, but he is also a God who wants to be close to us. This was manifested to us when Jesus came to die on the cross in order that humanity can be reunited with God in heaven one day. I hope this lesson will be a blessing to you as you prepare for your Sabbath School classes this week.

This week on the podcast we continue with the first angels message but shift our focus to Daniel 8-9 and talk about the prophecies discussed and focus in on the 2300 days found in Daniel 8:14. This sets the stage for understanding the cleansing of the sanctuary, the end time, and up until the year 1844. Much of this weeks lessons is focused on validating these prophecies through history to show that the Bible is correct in relation to the timelines presented. With these prophecies being fulfilled, this gives us hope for the future in knowing that those thing which are to come will also be fulfilled.

This week on the podcast we discuss the judgment to come and how that it is actually good news for those who follow Christ. Many times the judgment is viewed as something scary and we can begin to fear it but really it is the finality of this world and the entire battle between good and evil. God will be justified and vindicated against the accusations of Satan that were made against God since Satans rebellion in heaven. This judgment is full of mercy and we will see that Jesus will be found worthy. The purpose of this judgment is not to find out how bad we are but to reveal how good God is.

This week we take a look at Revelation 14:14 and discuss the symbols related to the second coming of Christ, the judgment, and reaping the harvest. There are only two sides to choose from at the end and we will all fall into one or the other. Christ is making his final plea with the world before He returns. We compare our Christian walk to that of a seed as is matures into a full tree bearing good fruit. Ultimately, every seed produces a harvest but that harvest can be either golden grain or gory grapes.

This week we start a brand new quarter in our Sabbath School Lessons; "Three Cosmic Messages". And with a new quarter, we are changing when we release this podcast. Each episode will now be released 1 week prior to the lesson study being presented in your local Sabbath School classes. This will allow you an entire week to listen and prepare you for discussions in your local classes for the upcoming week.
In this introduction lesson, we cover the theme of the great controversy and seek to understand how Satan is attacking our church today and why he is doing that. We see how the war between good and evil started in heaven and has now spilled into this world and each one of us has a part to play. Accepting Jesus's victory is the key for us moving forward as we face trials and tribulations through our lives. This lesson will set us up for deeper insights into the Three Angels Messages.

This week on the podcast we discuss what it means to give back to God as we enter the non-working days of our lives. As we will see in this lesson, there is so much work to be done today that can have implications on the future. We talk about the parable of the rich fool, the life of David in his last years as well as understanding that we cannot take our gathered possessions with us when we die. This week Elder Nick discusses the importance of understanding what covetousness is and how to take the right steps to overcome this silent problem in our lives. Where did covetousness originate from? He also covers three separate stories in the Bible where people who had a connection with God, dealt with coveting and what their fate was.
