Struggling to find passion in your work? Having a hard time shutting the laptop at night and fully "logging off" physically and mentally? In this episode I am honored to have Kathryn Carroll on to talk about everything from navigating layoffs to finding the time and energy in your twenties to devote to volunteering and giving back.
Kathryn graduated from TCU in 2013 and began her career at a marketing agency. While she enjoyed marketing, she wanted to get out of the agency world and into corporate America. She moved to Atlanta, found community in her volunteer work with the Red Shoe Society, and began to pursue her passion for travel while still working hard. Everything was going great until she found out her team was laid off at her corporate job. Little did she know this would bring the greatest blessing. A closed door became an open door and Kathryn landed her dream job working as a marketing manager for IHG, one of the largest hotel groups in the world.

In this episode, we hit some new food, fitness, fun, faith, $20 finds and then unpack "stopping the search". We spend most of our lives looking around for the next thing that will make us happy whether that is a job, a relationships, a car, an outfit, or a national championship - the search never seems to stop.
How can we constantly seeking satisfaction, yet never seem to find it? Let's unpack why we need to stop looking around, and start looking up and why self satisfaction will never compare to satisfaction we find in the Lord.
When we set our eyes on the eternal, we learn to let go of the false promise of satisfaction in the temporary.

Is finding community harder in your twenties harder than you thought? Are you having trouble balancing old and new friendships? What do I do if I am investing more into a friendship than another person? Can I be friends with someone who doesn't believe the same things I do?
On this episode we unpack the truth about friendships and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are encouraging you, uplifting you, and bringing out the best in you. We unpack how to maintain past friendships while giving yourself the grace that you do not have the emotional capacity to be best friends with everyone you meet. We also discuss practical ways to build community in a world where it is just hard to meet people organically.

In this episode, I unpack the story of how I had to let go of my pride, my desire for control, and my perfectionist mentality to overcome an eating disorder and find food and fitness freedom. Listen to learn how Jesus redeemed my view of food and fitness and left me with a desire to treat my body as a temple for the Holy Spirit.
Just like wealth, material goods, and social status on earth, our bodies are also temporary and will one day be redeemed in Heaven. God calls each of us to remember his promise of restoration - “and the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1 Peter 5:10)
When the world fails, Jesus redeems.

Welcome to Roaring Twenties - the podcast for all twenty-somethings taking on our defining decade.
Our twenties are challenging. Satan tests, tempts, and tries us to pull us away from the freedom that comes with a life with Christ. The world likes to make us think the money, the social life and the career will satisfy our human desire to find fulfillment and purpose, but even the promotion, the full social calendar and the dream job leave us unsatisfied and searching for what comes next.
In this episode you will learn more about me, Sydney, and my heart behind starting this podcast. I want this podcast to be full of real and raw conversations about the realities of being in our twenties while trying to follow Jesus and chase our dreams.
