You will get to "be the fly on the wall" as we get together to discuss various topics that affect woman. Our conversations can be either ultra serious or super lighthearted. We talk about our children, our significant others, old times, pain, trauma, health and fitness, our jobs (or lack there of), travel and anything else under the sun. My sista friends and I are raw, edgy, silly, funny, wise, outgoing and introverted. Now I must warn you if a little sharp tongue or a hearty laugh scares you then you might not want to tune in every week. In today's episode, the conversation continues with Charlene, Donna, Ronnie and Stacy. We talk about the time I got jumped on Ocean Avenue by some girls who didn't live on the block and how my sister (my protector) found the ringleader and beat her ass. That fight brought back memories of other fights we got into.

In this episode, we delve into when I went missing off the block for a few months. I left Ocean Avenue to live with my Puerto Rican father who (it appears) my mother hid from me in hopes I would never meet him. Well, as we all know, little girls will always be curious of who their father's are and will want to know them too. But during my time with my biological father things took very wrong turns that still affect me negatively to this day. My Ocean Avenue girls' took it upon themselves to rescue me from that situation of abuse.
In this episode, I brought along my friends, from the block I grew up on, Ocean Avenue. Good friends are hard to come by. These ladies, Charlene, Donna (my Foster sister), Moon-ra (my sister), Ronnie, Stacy. Talk about funny as hell. These girls really kept it real in this talk. We talked about our first encounter with one another. We were really some "Around the way" girls. From rap music, to parties, to clothes, to family life.

This week on "Conversations With Mechel," the conversation continues with special guest, Venetria Moon-Ra as we take a walk down memory lane reminiscing the neighborhoods (Bushwick and Flatbush) and of course the culture shock of being forced to move from a very stable family setting to one of total chaos in New York City. We discuss the start of being latchkey kids fending for ourselves, riding in cabs and public transpiration (trains and busses) and also being passed around to different families.
Mechel Miller invited, her sister, Venetria Moon-Ra of Hula Roots to the show to talk about their early lives as foster-children living in Long Island to transitioning to move with their parents in Brooklyn, New York. This conversation - though remembered differently by each sister- brought back memories both happy and sad as they had to put on their big girl panties to combat the big changes they had to face.
