One mathematician's approach to providing a general overview of scientific articles and their main points. Ramblings will include my own (hopefully) educated opinions on what I think the implications of these results might be.

In this episode I go over some articles that look into the evolutionary benefits of altruism and selfless acts over selfish behaviors. Does this directly contradict Darwin's "survival of the fittest", or is it just a different side of the same coin? There's a lot of research done on the topic of "self-esteem" and how we view ourselves, most of it existing with the goals that these insights will help us understand our subconscious better and learn how to be less self-critical. Here, I want to provide another look into this topic that I've never heard anyone use before. While the association of how the research I cite is associate to specific themes is just my opinion, the sources I use come from published and peer reviewed articles. My main source is the "Science" journal and an article titled "Ancient Genomes Show Social and Reproductive Behavior Of Early Upper Paleolithic Foragers", published in 2017 by Martin Sikora et al. An article that I didn't directly talk about but is relevant to the topic was published in the journal "Journal of Personality And Social Psychology" in 2019 and is titled "The Link Between Self-Esteem And Social Relationships: A Meta-Analysis Of Longitudinal Studies", by Michelle A. Harris.
