As a fitness enthusiast and a foodie, this is my kind of event. There's nothing like a Saturday morning filled with an invigorating workout followed by good food and vibes.
In the words of Drake, "You say you droppin' 10 pounds preparin' for summer. And you don't do it for the man, men never notice. You just do it for yourself, you the f*cking coldest." Yes, I am, Drizzy.
For my girlies who love a good workout, this fitness experience starts with a 30-minute Island Soca Spin Class, followed by a high-energy 30-minute full body strength class.
Once the workout is done, the vibes began with a spread of healthy food options and beverages in a laid-back brunch-style setting. It's the perfect way to refuel and connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about their well-being.

Pucci, the luxury fashion house owned by LVMH, is expanding its horizons with a new yoga line inspired by its artistic director Camille Miceli's passion for wellness.
The brand, known for its colorful prints and elegant designs, has created a collection of yoga essentials that feature its signature Marmo print in blue tones. The collection includes leggings and crop tops made from eco-friendly stretch Lycra, with graphic cutouts and logo bands for a sporty flair. There are also bikini sets, cotton t-shirts, and a sweatshirt, all decorated with the marble pattern.
The collection is not only stylish but also practical, as it comes with accessories such as a soft blanket, a yoga mat with a fuchsia strap, and a glass water bottle. Miceli, who is an avid yoga practitioner, said that the collection reflects her personal philosophy of self-care. "Yoga is one of the best ways to engage both body and mind. It anchors me in the present and brings a kind of balance that I carry through my days," she told WWD.
The yoga line follows the success of Pucci's second ski capsule collection with French brand Fusalp, which also showcased the brand's lifestyle approach. The yoga line is available online and in selected Pucci stores worldwide.
Rihanna is taking her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty to the next level by expanding beyond e-commerce. Sis is looking to be bigger than Victoria’s Secret back in their heyday.
Savage X Fenty, the lingerie brand co-owned by music star Rihanna and investors including LVMH, has a new CEO. Rihanna, who has held the position since she founded the lingerie brand in 2018, is stepping down from the role to be replaced by Hillary Super, former CEO of Anthropologie Group.
The switch is effective from 26 June. Rihanna, whose personal net worth is estimated at more than $1.4 billion, remains in a leadership role as executive chair.
“It’s been beautiful to see our vision for Savage X Fenty impact the industry at such an incredible magnitude over the last five years,” Rihanna says. “This is just the beginning for us, and we’re going to continue to expand in ways that always connect with the consumer. I’m so grateful and excited to welcome Hillary Super as our new CEO — she is a strong leader and is focused on taking the business to an even higher level.”
Super was global CEO at Anthropologie Group for four years and previously held leadership positions at retailers, including Guess, American Eagle, Gap and Old Navy.
She joins Savage X Fenty as the brand seeks to expand its retail footprint beyond e-commerce, developing further into bricks-and-mortar and kickstarting wholesale. Since early 2022, Fenty has opened seven stores in US cities, including Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
It makes sense, given that the direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce model isn’t as surefire as it once was. On the shift, the brand said in a statement: “We have a highly engaged customer base with our DTC model, and also recognise that there is opportunity for us to expand further by meeting customers where they are and offering other avenues of accessibility.”

I know the weather is breaking but on those days where the morning air has a chill, I like to slip on loafers as my shoe of the day. Depending on my vibe, I pair them with slacks or joggers .
I love Maison Margiela’s Tabi silhouette, it’s so fun. These Tabi split-toe perforated glossed-leather loafers are chic and cool at the same time. Only a few sizes left!

I live for a whimsical look. Fashion should be fun and expressive. Herve Leger’s pieces are so forgiving. The bandage design really snatches you in and hides any problem areas, making it a win-win. I would pair this cute dress with some pumps for an ultimate date night look.

I’m ready for spring. They say summer bodies are made in the winter and I’ve been on my Pilates five times a week flow. Ya girl is ready. Giuseppe Zanotti's Blasvegas sandals are made in Italy of eye-catching metallic leather. Enhanced with a perfectly squared toe, this bold pair is anchored by a block heel and platform.
I would pair them with a floral mini dress and a rattan purse.

I love all things Hip-Hop and this event seems dope as hell. It’s the premiere screening of the documentary, Mixtape, and includes a live performance by Jadakiss. Mixtape tells the story of mixtape culture and its role in spreading Hip-Hop around the world. This film is about the outlaw DJs who, for the love of the music, turned a criminal enterprise into a creative and commercial backbone of the music business.
The film features music icons DJ TONY TOUCH, A$AP Rocky, Brucie B, Bun B, CeeLo, DJ Clue Music, DJ Drama, DJ Whoo Kid, Doo Wop, Fat Joe, Funkmaster Flex, Jeezy, The Real Kid Capri, KRS-One, Lil Wayne, Angie Martinez, Mister Cee, 2 Chainz, Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love, Mercury Studios, DefJam, and more.
The event takes place on Thursday, April 7, at The United Palace in Washington Heights.
This premiere kicks off a partnership between Universal Music Group and Tribeca, which will include an exclusive series of music-driven and film-based events, taking place throughout 2022.

I want better for Drake’s OVO line. Drake really needs to hire me so I can turn OVO into Ivy Park. Fly girls want to wear Drake’s OVO line but we can never find anything because the women’s section is always so sparse. Can we get a jumpsuit or some drop crotch joggers paired with a bra top?

The location for Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty’s New York store has been unveiled, and the borough of Brooklyn appears to be the first one.
Brooklynites know the 182 Flatbush Avenue building, it’s a great location near the Barclays Center. The building used to house the Triangle Sporting Goods store and has been vacant since 2013.
According to WWD, Rihanna has signed a 10-year lease for the three-floor, Brooklyn location. The 182 Flatbush store will be Savage’s largest physical store outside of a mall, at about 6,100 square feet. WWD reports that construction on the space has begun.
Bae doesn’t feel well so I’m making him some soup in hopes that he feels better. I’m speaking bae into existence. My mentally healthy, whole and God-fearing man is coming. Amen, amen.
I stumbled upon an Italian Wedding Soup recipe and I put my own spin on it. I wanted to make something comforting for my man. This soup is super easy to make and it cooks in under an hour.
Italian Wedding SoupFilled with homemade browned meatballs, fresh veggies and pasta. Comfort food any day of the year!

Ready in: 50 minutes
IngredientsMeatballs* 8 oz ground chicken * 1/2 cup bread crumbs * 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley * 1 1/2 tsp minced fresh oregano * 1/2 cup finely shredded parmesan * 1 large egg * Salt and freshly ground black pepper * 1 Tbsp olive oil
Soup* 1 Tbsp olive oil * 1 1/4 cups 1/4-inch diced carrots * 1 1/4 cups diced yellow onion * 3/4 cup 1/4-inch diced celery * 4 cloves garlic , minced (1 1/2 Tbsp) * 5 (14.5 oz) cans low-sodium chicken broth * 1 cup dry pasta * 6 oz fresh spinach * Finely shredded parmesan, for serving
Instructions1. For the meatballs: 2. Add chicken to a large mixing bowl. Add in bread crumbs, parsley, oregano, parmesan, egg, 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. 3. Gently toss and break up mixture with hands to evenly coat and distribute. Shape mixture into very small meatballs, about 3/4 inch to 1 inch and transfer to a large plate. 4. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the meatballs and cook until browned, turning occasionally (to brown on 2 or 3 sides), about 4 minutes total. 5. Transfer meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels while leaving oil in the skillet. Repeat the process with remaining meatballs (note that meatballs won't be cooked through at this point, they'll continue to cook through in the soup). 6. For the soup: 7. While meatballs are browning, heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add carrots, onions and celery and saute until veggies have softened about 6 - 8 minutes, add garlic and saute 1 minute longer. 8. Pour in chicken broth, season soup with salt and pepper to taste and bring mixture to a boil. Add in pasta and meatballs, reduce heat to light boil (about medium or medium-low). 9. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender and meatballs have cooked through, about 10 minutes, while adding in spinach during the last minute of cooking. Serve warm, sprinkle each serving with parmesan cheese.
NoteAs the soup sits the pasta will absorb more broth so you can add more broth to thin the soup as desired.
I just came back from a sneak peak of the Ulla Johnson sample sale that opens tomorrow at 260 Sample Sale in SoHo. An Ulla Johnson sample sale doesn’t miss. It’s worth all the hype and all the lines.
The Ulla Johnson sale is filled with beautifully crafted sundresses and knitwear with exaggerated shoulders. You’ll find prints on prints on prints. I love the ease of Ulla Johnson’s clothing, her pieces aren’t fussy.
The price point is great.
Some shoes are sample sizes with only a few pairs of each but there are also production shoes that come in all sizes. You'll also find a huge collection of bags and jewelry and the coats are adorable.
It's a great sale that's worth the hype and the wait.

Brian McKnight has some hits. 12-year-old Fly Carla was singing “Anytime” like my man of ten years left me because he felt trapped. I was singing my little heart out. I just knew I had to cross my fictitious ex bae’s mind while he was at the gas station filling up his 97 Nissan Altima.
Yes, I’ve always had an overactive imagination.

My jaw dropped when I saw Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily’s Instagram post of pictures of André Leon Talley with the caption, “RIP.” I knew Talley had some health issues, but we never really know the extent of one’s suffering. So many people suffer in silence. I have even been quiet about the Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis that I received in 2020.
It’s what Black folks do, right? We break down barriers and yet suffer in silence. Talley was always an icon to me as I pursued my career in fashion. I used to dream of working at Vogue right under Talley. As a young woman interning at O, The Oprah Magazine, Vibe Vixen, and Honey Magazine, I really thought I was so close to Uncle Talley.
That’s the affectionate name I had for him in my head. I was in awe at this big Black man from the South who knew French and curated so much of the fashion industry. His hustle was inspiring. His natural knack for luxury is my whole vibe.
His disdain for an unkempt society is me. I cringe when I see bonnets at the airport. I also cringe when I see oversized sweatshirts with not a peek of shorts underneath at the airport.
“The world has become too casual, and people have become lazy. There was a time when people went on airlines with gloves. It’s about the gloves, O.K., darling. It’s about gloves. Listen.”
— Andre Leon Talley, Vanity Fair, September Issue
I crave formalities and drama.
I wish Anna Wintour had put more respect on Talley’s name. He was a force, but he also seemed to always be in the shadow of Wintour when he deserved to be the light. He deserved so much more than what the fashion industry gave him.
I met Talley once at a Manolo Blahnik sample sale in 2011. He was holding court in one of his signature kaftans. He was sitting on his throne, surrounded by Manolo Blahniks and fashionistas came up to him looking for guidance on what shoes they should purchase. I was torn between the Manolo Blahnik's Timberland-inspired 'Oklamod' booties or the ‘Liss Cork Bow’ sandals. Uncle Talley told me to get the ‘Liss Cork Bow’ sandals and added that he loved my turban.
I went off to the register with my Manolo Blahnik ‘Liss Cork Bow’ sandals because the famed Andre Leon Talley told me to.
His influence was so real. I hope his last days were well spent and luxurious. Rest In Power, Unc.
I am always recommending CBD to my fly girls. Can’t sleep? Try CBD. Suffer from anxiety? Try CBD. Have aches and pain? Yup—CBD. Skincare concerns? CBD.
CBD has a calming effect to promote sleep, mood, and anxiety. It eases hot flashes and improves bone density by balancing hormonal changes of menopause; it’s promoted for PMS symptoms like bloating and mood swings. And it has anti-inflammatory properties to clear skin, cure acne, and calm rosacea. CBD-infused lubricants even claim to boost arousal and the enjoyment of sex.
CBD is not weed. CBD is a major ingredient in cannabis plants (like hemp and marijuana). It comes in different strengths and forms, often as CBD oil but also in pills and powders. It can be absorbed through the skin, ingested, or inhaled. Unlike marijuana, pure CBD products don’t make you feel high. A different ingredient in marijuana called THC makes people feel high.
To me, CBD gives women superpowers. It gives us the power to rest and rejuvenate. It’s an herbal tool to get out of our own heads for just a bit. Even Queen B herself, Beyonce has discovered the amazing effects of CBD. In her last summer Harper’s Bazaararticle, the R&B star revealed that she is building a cannabis and hemp farm to obtain her own CBD.
“I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation,” she said in the interview. “It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep.”
The benefits of CBD are real. I feel like Peggy Carter from Marvel’s What If when I use CBD. I’m the first avenger, boo.
I’ve compiled a list of my favorite CBD products online and CBD shops in NYC.

That Rihanna reign just won't let up .
Rihanna just announced Savage X Fenty’s first permanent stores. The first five locations are set to open in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. The brand hasn’t announced the exact location or opening timing for the stores. The news will be announced on Savage X Fenty’s social media.
The news of physical Savage X Fenty stores isn’t a total surprise. Back in November, Savage X Fenty co-president and chief merchandising and design officer Christiane Pendarvis told Bloomberg, “Retail is an important part of our growth strategy. You’ll absolutely see some stores in 2022. Because fit and comfort are so important, there are just customers who don’t feel comfortable purchasing online.”
Pendarvis added, “Initially they all will be in the U.S., but we’re absolutely having conversations around what does that expansion potentially look like in the [European Union].
Fenty x Savage launched as a joint venture between Rihanna and TechStyle Fashion Group. The brand opened three pop-up stores last November in New York, Bloomington, Minnesota and Sant Clara, California.
Thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am not trying to age. I don’t want to be 25 but I do wish I had the skin of 25 year old Fly Carla. 25 year old Fly Carla could drink all night with minimal sleep and still look fresh faced in the morning. That suppleness was what dreams are made of.
I’ve been dreaming of a product that energized my skin and addressed all key visible signs of aging and thankfully, Rodan + Fields has a product that has me looking well rested and 25ish.
Rodan + Fields’ Total RF Serum is the serum I’ve been needing in my life and, yes, you need a serum in yours too. It is the perfect enhancement to my Rodan + Fields Reverse Regimen.
The Reverse Regimen is already my jam. I love it because it is a 3-step skincare routine that really visibly brightens and evens my skin, and also works to defend, tackle, and prevent skin discoloration. I love a routine that is simplistic but works. I don’t have the time for a 12-step routine, I’m a busy fly girl. I’m rushing out the door in the mornings for Pilates and I like to hurry to the bed at night so I can finish watching Joe’s crazy self in You. If Joe can text back, don’t let these dusties make excuses for their lack of communication. Joe will clean up a crime scene and send a word of encouragement.
Adding Total RF Serum to my routine still keeps my routine simplistic with amazing additional benefits. Total RF Serum is filled with good stuff, like, Proprietary RF TriEnergy Complex, containing Sandalwood to help minimize the look of fine lines, Indian Kino Tree Extract to help skin look more even toned, and plant-based Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids that are specially modified to enhance penetration at the skin’s surface, serves as building blocks to create a supple, plumper-looking complexion.
Yassssss! Give me all the sandalwood and fatty acids!
I love skincare that’s backed by science because I believe in science. Total RF Serum contains a Patented RF3 Antioxidant Complex that was developed and patented in the US by Rodan + Fields’ scientists. It contains ceramides that fortifies skin to be more resilient and defend against environmental aggressors for even-looking skin. The result is smoother, firmer-looking skin with less visible fine lines.
So much science jargon, I know, but it’s all good ingredients that really work with consistent use. This isn’t a quick fix, this is putting on your big girl panties with being consistent to visibly see results. Skincare takes time and Rodan + Fields believes in their products so much that they have 60-day back guarantee on all products, including empties. That is some guarantee.
Better yet – this is Rodan + Field’s 1st refillable product, helping to limit waste and allowing customers to save on cost when they reorder. For the refill, you simply retain the outer glass base for future use + replace the inner vial of potent serum every 2 months. 90% of this package is made from recyclable materials*.
And I can vouch for Rodan + Fields’ Total RF Serum and their Reverse Regimen. Using both consistently, my skin looks brighter, more toned and with barely any visible fine lines. I’m not making this up! I use both the Reverse Regimen and the Total RF Serum for both morning and night to see maximum benefit.
They work! For fly girl skin that will revival your youth’s, you have to try Rodan + Fields’ Total RF Serum and their Reverse Regimen. Rodan + Fields products can be purchased on rodanandfields.com or through an Independent Consultant.

I am so proud of these young ladies out here running their lash and eyebrow business!
I wish eyebrows and lashes were a thing when I was younger. It’s such a profitable business with low overhead. I can totally see myself doing lashes in my dorm room back at HU.
I’m like, “Go ahead, Sis” every time a young woman hooks me up. I like to wake up fine. Having your lashes and eyebrows done is how influencers go, “I woke up like this.” I love having both services done because I just wake up too cute.
Ashia Allure Lashes is my go-to girl in Brooklyn. She has this cozy spot in Park Slope, and her lashes are bomb. I really love her hours because I’m so busy that my glam squad needs to have some accessibility, and she has that.
She also has a foreign fill service that is clutch. It’s a service for clients who would like a fill or lash adjustment done by a previous lash artist. You need at least 40% of the lashes on for this service.
It’s been almost 2 weeks, and my lashes still look bomb. I’m do for a fill-in, but they definitely still give a look.

My Black Girls in Trader Joe’s know what I’m talking about. All summer, the Black Girls in Trader Joe’s Facebook group posted their stories of the baby-making magical duo of TJ’s Coconut Body Butter (or TJ’s Brazilian Nut Butter) and TJ’s Lemongrass Body Oil. Women in the Black Girls in Trader Joe’s group shared their stories of how their bae ravished them after they lathered in a concoction of all things TJ’s.
Summer’s over, and cuffing season is upon us. On one hand, I want my sisters to hide their apartments from hobosexuals who are looking for a warm place this winter. On the other hand, I want my sisters to get their backs blown out while smelling like comfort. Black women deserve good sex.
This combination of Maison Margiela’s REPLICA Autumn Vibes paired with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Body Butter will have bae singing like Diana Ross in “Home:”
When I think of home,
I think of a place where there’s love overflowing.
I wish I was home.
I wish I was back there with the things I been knowing.
I live for a scent that evokes pleasant memories, and Maison Margiela’s REPLICA Autumn Vibes does just that. It’s a warm scent that’s earthy and woody with hints of red berries, cardamon, and moss. It’s hearty and rich with a sweet, dry down.
Maison Margiela’s REPLICA Autumn Vibes paired with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Body Butter is the sexy fall scent you need in your life. It’s an interesting scent that will surely lead to an interesting night.
Ask bae, “Hocus Pocus and Chill?

Tracks I’m loving right now, in no particular order.
“Big Nas (Original Song from MasterClass)” - Nas Nas is in his bag. Coming off the success of King’s Disease II, Nas drops “Big Nas (Original Song from MasterClass)”. The single accompanies MasterClass’ announcement of Nas teaching Hip-Hop Storytelling. In the class, Nas shares his journey through the evolution of Hip-Hop.
“Whateva U Need” - Grimm Lynn Super smooth groove by newcomer, 23 year old Grimm Lynn from Atlanta, GA. He gives me Cody Chestnut and Van Hunt vibes.
“You Made A Fool Of Me”- Anthony Hamilton Anthony Hamilton’s new album, Love Is The New Black has some bangers. Hamilton and Jennifer Hudson did the darn thing on Luther Vandross’ “Superstar”. Hamilton is going through some things on Love Is The New Black, “You Made A Fool Of Me” is a man’s honest thoughts on being cheated on.
“Coastin’”- Victoria Monét I like Victoria Monét, she always comes out with a bop. Coastin’ is a fun vibe.
“Out Here Trusting God” - Anita Wilson, Rubi Green, Kincy This is my morning tune! My motto!
This event sounds so dope. I love me some old school Hip-Hop. I was just watching Wild Style on Amazon Prime.

It was really a no-brainer for me to get vaccinated. I do not want to continue wearing masks, I’m too cute! How can I meet my future bae in Trader Joe’s if half of my face is covered? I do love the increased sanitizing practices that Covid has implemented. People were really out here not washing their hands or covering their mouths when sneezing or coughing. Ewww. I side-eye all those people, don’t be like them.
Jokes aside, I got vaccinated because I not only wanted to protect myself from Covid-19, I wanted to protect my parents. More specifically, my mother who successfully had a double lung transplant in May.
My mom, before the transplant was severely autoimmune compromised and she still is. If I wanted to provide support to my parents and see my parents, I knew I had to get vaccinated. I could not travel from New York, which was the epicenter of Covid at one point to Baltimore to see my parents and not be vaccinated. Traveling and being around my loved ones are the things I like to do and to do them safely, I had to roll up my sleeves and get vaccinated.
And I don’t like needles. I have multiple tattoos and I still don’t like needles. But if I want to live my life as freely as I can during a pandemic and if I want to see my parents and travel, I had to get vaccinated. I was just at the Fat Joe and Ja Rule Verzuz at MSG (I am team Ja Rule!) and to enter Madison Square Garden, I had to show my vaccine card. I proudly showed them my vaccine card via NY’s Excelsior Pass.
Life is different right now but to do the things that resemble life pre-covid and to be around my loved ones, I choose to get vaccinated. It’s the right thing to do and it’s our way out of the pandemic. And if I still have to wear a mask, let me make sure my eyebrows and lashes are popping.
For more information about the vaccine, visit https://nbcit.org/inform-unite-heal/. Let’s do our part to stay safe, healthy, and fly.

Someone said Nas’ King’s Disease 2 is adult contemporary music. I’m okay with that. Nas is talking my language. I have no idea what these young rappers are talking about. Depression and Percocet? But I’m on everything that Nas is on. Meal prep me, boo.
“You searching for qualities that I’m already blessed with.” Yass! Did I give Nas this bar?
On “The Pressure” Nas mentions Petrus. I heart a man who knows his wine and spirits. Heyyyyy, Carlton McCoy Jr. As #champagnemiami, I too know wine. 2 bottles of ’82 Petrus were purchased for $16,640 U.S. dollars in 2012. In 2019, a ’98 Chateau Petrus sold for $41,500. Petrus is one the most celebrated wines of Bordeaux, but is it worth the price?
Here are 5 reasons why a bottle of Petrus costs over $3K.1. Pertus doesn’t produce a lot of bottles each year.
There are only 2,500 cases of Petrus produced each year. It’s 0064% of the number of Bordeaux cases produced each year. The extreme rarity makes it pricey.
2. The Pertrus vineyard is old and small.
Most vineyards are about 250 acres, but the vineyard of Petrus is only about 28 acres and mostly Merlot grapes. Their vineyard is the only vineyard in Pomerol, a commune in Southwestern France, which is entirely composed of 1 million-year old thick gravel and 40 million-year old clay soil. This blue clay not only gives the grapes a distinctive quality, but it preserves the moisture of the grapes during dry summers.
3. They take extreme precautions to protect the grapes.
In 1987, the estate experienced an extremely hot summer followed by non-stop rain. To keep the quality of their grapes, they hired a helicopter to hover over the fruits and dry them. To prevent the amount of rain heavily permeating the soil, the estate used plastic sheets to cover the ground in 1992.
4. There’s only one wine at Petrus.
Other vineyards take their less favorable vines to make multiple wines but not Petrus. They take the rejected grapes and sell them off as generic Pomerol.
5. The best years are the most expensive.
Not all years of Petrus are created equal. The best years of Petrus are 1989, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2010. The 12-bottle cases of 1989 and 1990 were sold for $79,000 at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Sale of the Great American Collector. On the same day, a 12-bottle case of 1995 Petrus achieved $73,000. A 6-magnum lot of 2005 reached $57,000 during the Vega Sicilia auction at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong in 2019. Lesser years include 1983, 1985, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997. Below that are 1973, 1975, 1976, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the very difficult ones are 1972, 1974 and 1984. In 1965 and 1991, the quality of harvest was so poor that any bottle from this year on the label is a fake.
By now, you’re probably waiting in line for the Ulla Johnson Sample Sale at 260 Sample Sale on Wooster Street in Soho. I went yesterday as a VIP to preview the sale and I’m here to tell you: it’s worth the wait.
I see you, you’re waiting in line, and it’s hot’s AF out. New York is under a heat advisory but fashion first, right? You probably have to pee because you had an iced coffee right before you stood in line. You forgot to bring your book. Your left Airpod just went out and you realized that you didn’t charge your Airpod case last night. You’re a hot, sweaty, music-less, no book-having, mess while waiting in line for the Ulla Johnson sample sale.
But once you walk through the doors of 260 Sample Sale- you will be in a heaven that consists of beautifully crafted sundresses and knitwear with exaggerated shoulders. You’ll find prints on prints on prints. I love the ease of Ulla Johnson’s clothing, her pieces aren’t fussy.
The price point at the sale is great. The sizing is a little tricky as a lot of the pieces are samples with no tags. I scored a jumpsuit that has the manufacturing tag of a small. It fits well, and I'm no small.
Some shoes are samples sizes with only a few pairs of each but there are also production shoes that come in all sizes. I wanted these boots so bad, they would've been perfect for the fall. Pumpkin Spice me.
You'll also find a huge collection of bags and jewelry and the coats are adorable.
It's a great sale that's worth the hype and the wait.
I knew very little of Evil Twin Brewery NYC before last Sunday. I knew that the small-batch ice cream shop OddFellows in Dumbo sells a “Root Beer Beer” made by Evil Twin that I would sometimes order to compliment my ice cream (this is before my #hotgirlsummer fitness journey started). Root Beer Beer is a sour ale that sorta tastes like root beer with hints of caramel and spices, it’s nothing like Not Your Father’s Beer’s “Root Beer” -which is a sweet apple cider.
I enjoyed the“Root Beer Beer” and assumed it was a one-off collaboration with OddFellows. I had no idea that quirky beers are Evil Twin’s thing and that they do quirky beers so well.
Evil Twin Brewery has a cult following from their flagship brewery in Ridgewood, Queens, and from a handful of craft beer bars across the city. They’ve brought their beers to Dumbo with an all-day taproom and bar that just opened.
The space is unassuming and very Dumbo-esq- loft-like with an industrial feel. It’s bright and airy but not necessarily Instagrammable, which makes sense because the beers are the real characters, not the space.
The Dumbo taproom’s opening menu has 20 beers on tap and they are all unique and fun. This isn’t the taproom for those who truly believe that Miller Highlife is the champagne of beers. Evil Twin Dumbo is for the curious beer drinker, like me, who can sometimes go down a rabbit hole of trying out different beers during the holidays. Mad Elf by Tröegs is the beer to drink during Christmas, FYI.
You’ll find beers brewed with toasted coconut, habanero, and plum. “What Even Is Blue Raspberry Anyway?” tastes and looks just like the blue candy that is flavored as “blue raspberry” but as the beer’s name suggests what is a “blue raspberry”? It’s not a real fruit but a blue sour ale is real. And refreshing.
“Woody’s Orange Cream” is a soda-sour ale that tastes just like the classic orange cream soda, it’s summery and sweet. “Sey Even More” is a dry-coffee stout made in collaboration with Sey Coffee, a Brooklyn roaster. It’s like a spiked coffee without the sweetness of flavored creamer. The taproom will also serve Sey Coffee each morning via a walk-up window.
Other draft standouts include “Proone Joose”, a barrel-aged barleywine made with raisins, prunes, and dates. It’s a prune juice that will get you lit with an 11% alcohol content. “Fire Drink With Me- The Sequel” is a sour double IPA that combines the heat from habaneros to the sweetness of mangos, it’s spicy and sweet and a bit tangy. “Back In A New York State of Mind” is a dank, juicy IPA with a touch of bitterness.
You’ll also find frozen mezcal and vodka cocktail slushies courtesy of Selma’s Bar, a 24-seat speakeasy located behind Evil Twin’s Ridgewood’s location. Selma opened just two-weeks before the lockdown last year and never really took off; it's still closed but two frozen drinks have made their way to Dumbo. “Mama Tired” is an Instagrammable frozen mango, mezcal margarita topped with black volcanic salt and Tajín.
The beers aren’t made in Dumbo as all of the brewery’s production happens in Ridgewood but the new taproom brings the fun beers closer to fans in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I wish there was an outdoor space to enjoy the beers but it’s still a welcoming addition to Dumbo. The bartenders are knowledgeable and helpful.
Evil Twin is open Monday to Wednesday from noon to 11 p.m., Thursday from noon to midnight, Friday from noon to 1 a.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m to 11 p.m.

Jay ain’t no Zaddy.
I don’t know if those working the pop up didn’t do the line justice or if the ‘Flex’ drop just isn’t that cute.
I’m on a mission to get an Adidas Ivy Park box. I’ve seen too many swagless (but connected) people unboxing their Ivy Park goods. I need one. So when my homegirl sent the We Are Ivy Park’s Instagram story showcasing the ‘Flex’ Ivy Park pop up in the lower east side, I dragged my other homegirl who was in town, to Houston and Lafayette to be nosy.
The scene was lackluster which was disappointing because I met the promoter who put it together and he was cute. I thought he would bring it but nah.
It was the end of the day, the pop up was ending at 7:00pm and we got there at 6:45pm- so I get that the Ivy Park associates were tired. They probably found the gig on Craig’s List and were outside in the heat all day trying to solicit pictures from people. Regardless- they didn’t give what needed to be given.
I’m not sure perfectionist Beyoncé would’ve been happy with the associates promoting her new drop, although I did see her lurking around Soho via IG. The Ivy Park associates weren’t selling the line with the looks they were wearing or the experience. They rushed me during my photos and they didn’t take good pics of me. They gave away a very basic Ivy Park ‘Flex’ bandana. A mask would’ve been cuter or even a mini beach ball for future ‘Flex’ photoshoots.
One associate wore the two slit skirt with the panties attached and the cropped short-sleeved top. I wasn’t getting a fitted look from the two piece outfit, it would have been cuter if the panties weren’t attached. That way you can wear your correct size in the panties and the slit skirt.
The other associate had on the fuller coverage bikini top and the bikini bottoms with the mesh leggings and jacket. It might be the mesh that doesn’t give me life. It’s not the colorway because I love orange, and orange is a great summer color. I’m just not inspired by the line. It’s giving me Miami on a budget vibes instead of Key Biscayne. Maybe it’s the fact that the ‘So Icy’ drop was a much better collection.
I’m going to still take a press box if given, of course, but ‘Flex’ isn’t a must-have collection for the summer. To be honest, Mah-Jing Wong’s line gives me what ‘Flex’ failed to produce.
Current mood. God is doing some thangs in my life. I’m thankful and big blessed. I love a good robe for resort lounging.

Nicki caused a 4,900% spike in demand for pink Crocs in a matter of hours when she posted the above photo.
I’ve been mostly indifferent to Crocs. They look comfortable but I never really saw a place in my closet for Crocs. When and where do I wear them? I don’t work in a kitchen. I play tennis but it’s not like I need to switch from my sneakers to Crocs because my feet hurt like athletes do.
Nobody:

Are Crocs airport shoes? Vacation shoes?
I still have no idea but ever since Nicki Minaji has been blessing our IG feeds in Crocs, I’ve been more inclined to get a pair. I like to do what bad bitches do. Maybe they will be my lounging on my rooftop shoes? I do have a cute “everywhere romper” that I brought from Terrell Dominick that will pair well with Crocs. And I have a photoshoot scheduled with Crocs.
They are growing on me.
What I’m really loving are the Croc charms, they take Crocs to the next level. There are Jibbitz, the trademark charms sold by Crocs, but for something more personalized, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Brandon Blackwood New York
All the cool kids in NYC own a Brandon Blackwood or a Telfar bag. I was standing in line last week at the Chloé sample sale and I peeped a Brandon Blackwood.
Bushwick native, Brandon Blackwood is making a name for himself with his bags that were made for the fly New Yorker, “I have the quintessential New York Girl or Boy in mind. The pieces are timeless and work in all different environments. My pieces make sense on the girl wearing Gap Jeans and a Uniqlo shirt to the girl in head to toe Proenza Schouler. It doesn't matter.”
His messaging is right on time. I love a woke brand.
His bags are sold out now but they’ll be a new drop on May 10th.

Thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Skincare hits differently when you're in your thirties. Right now, I am all about deliberate skincare that’s backed by science and does what it says it will do. Long gone are the days of using bar soap and cocoa butter. Hello to regular facials and sunscreen.
This pandemic has done a number on my skin, it’s the constant wearing of masks. No matter how cute they are and if they match my outfit, being in a mask for prolonged periods of time just isn’t good for my skin. Especially working out in a mask. It’s just a cesspool of sweat and bacteria. Real gross stuff.
I combat the acne with salicylic acid but then I’m left with dark spots and skin discoloration and I hate it. I’m too old for breakouts and dark spots and I’m not okay with brown spots and dull spots.
I started using Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen + REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector and it’s been a game changer. Within a month of using the Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen my skin is brighter, and the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector has visibly improved my dark marks.
It’s a super easy regimen to follow, like literally it’s foolproof cause each bottle is clearly labeled and numbered. It’s a 3-step system that corrects and prevents the appearance of dullness and my not-so-cute dark marks that ‘Rona’s whack self has created on my chocolate skin. Clear skin has always been my thing so Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen + REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector is a God send.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: REVERSEDeep Exfoliating Cleanser: I use this morning and night; I use just a pea-size amount. It’s a skin-brightening cleanser that gently exfoliates to enhance skin’s natural turnover and remove over-pigmented surface cells for a brighter complexion.
Major Key Ingredients:
Step 2: REVERSE Intensive Brightening Toner: I live for a toner. It’s a crucial step in any skincare regimen. I put just a touch of the brightening and skin-softening solution on a cotton ball and swipe it all-over my face. It’s a gentle yet intensively effective skin prep solution that targets the appearance of skin discoloration, softens the look of dark spots, and increases the efficacy of remaining steps.
Major Key Ingredients:
Step 3 (AM): REVERSE Brightening Defense Fluid Lotion SPF 50: Black girls need sunscreen too! I never skip this step! Even if it’s cloudy outside or if I’m WFH, I’m still putting on my sunscreen. This is a lightweight lotion that protects skin from environmental aggressors and harmful UVA/UVB rays. The high level of SPF protection helps to prevent future discoloration from forming.
Major Key Ingredients:
Step 3 (PM): REVERSE Tone Correcting Treatment: Nighttime is when the magic happens. The REVERSE Tone Correcting Treatmentcombines the brightening power of 10% stabilized Vitamin C with the revitalizing strength of proprietary Retinal MD Technology and Kojic Acid into one boosted formula to visibly even skin tone and minimize the appearance of dark spots and brown spots.
Major Key Ingredients:
After cleansing and toning, I apply the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector. It precisely targets the look of stubborn dark marks and patches to visibly minimize the size and intensity of uneven pigmentation.
Major Key Ingredients:
Intentional skincare backed by science is the name of the game if you want results and I’m all for Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen + the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector because I see the difference. I haven’t missed a day of following the steps and the discoloration and dark marks on my chin and cheeks look less noticeable. My skin tone is so even and bright that while I was home for Easter- my mom commented saying, it looked like I had foundation on.
That’s what I’m talking about! Skin on fleek thanks to Rodan + Fields Regimen + the REVERSE Targeted Dark Spot Corrector.
Rodan + Fields Reserve Regimen, $195
I had a date last week and I wanted to look cute so I put on my Giuseppe Zanotti heels. I’m fully vaccinated so I’m totally ready to have a #shotgirlsummer. Fully vaccinated ladies = Shot Girl Summer. Get it?
But.
Girl.
GIRL.
I was walking in my Giuseppes like I never wore heels before. It was a struggle. I blame Corona's hoe a** for not allowing me to dress up for over a year.
Don’t be like me. Wear your heels around the house! Wear them to Trader Joe’s! Take out the trash in your Choos. Get some practice in so your date doesn’t give you the side-eye for not knowing how to walk in heels.
If you’re not ready, I get it. Baby steps. Flats and sneakers are more appropriate during a pandemic. I know I’m doing more walking and outdoor activities than ever before.
I curated my fave flats that will get you through spring and summer. They’re cute and practical in a COVID world but still wear your heels. Don’t be like me.

Black Twitter is ablaze right now as we learned that relationship “guru” Derrick Jaxn has been unfaithful to his wife of the past four years. Anyone can be a “guru”- you just need a smartphone. Fly Girls- be mindful of who you are receiving your advice from and be sure to have an independent thought. Don’t be listening to just anyone cause you don’t want their crazy rhetoric seeping into your subconscious.
Derrick had his wife in a bonnet on YouTube while discussing his mess. I’d rather swallow sharp knives than hold my husband’s hand while he tells the world that he sleeping with other women.
Today’s fly product is for my girls who are getting to the bag and who won’t stop their hustle.
UNTIL LOVE COMES BAG , $59.80
I’m going to celebrate every time a Black woman becomes a first. In a society that wasn’t built for us to succeed- I will always clap my hands for other Black women who are breaking barriers in their industry.
London-based photographer Nadine Ijewere shot Selena Gomez for April 2021 Vogue, making her the first Black woman to shoot a cover for the American version of the publication.
Ijewere took to Instagram where she wrote, “As a young black women i didn’t imagine that I would one day have the opportunity to shoot a cover for American Vogue. I’m so honoured to have been able to work with my fellow sister [stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson]. I hope this encourages black women that there is space for us to take in this industry . Thanks also to the team for working hard during these difficult times.”
Ijewere was born and raised in southeast London by a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother. Ijewere has shot covers for British Vogue and Vogue Espana (Naomi Campbell) and Allure (Rihanna), among others. Her shot of Dua Lipa for British Vogue’s January 2019 also marked the first time the cover was shot by a Black woman.

Jay-Z truly lives the life of a fly retired rich man. Everytime I see pictures of him- he is always doing some wholesome rich person activity. Like jet skiing with a hamlet because he is cautious in his older age and he also is securing his bag-meaning keeping himself safe because he knows his wife be willdin’ on vacations. Bey is jumping off of 30-foot yachts as Jay looks on.
Have you noticed the evolution of Jay’s vacation style from the early 2000s to present? Before he was with Beyonce, he was in Timbs and Air Forces on the beach, now he is doing yoga barefoot in Hawaii. The upgrade is real, B.
Jay-Z just announced that his cognac brand, D’USSE, will be auctioning off an ultra-rare bottle of the 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition collection with Sotheby's as a part of the auction house's Finest & Rarest Spirits sale this March.
They’re expecting to pull in anywhere from $25,000 to $75,000 from the sale of this very fancy Grande Champagne Cognac that has aged for decades in a single barrel at France's storied Château de Cognac, maturing under the expert eye of D’USSE's Cellar Master Michel Casavecchia.
According toBusiness Spirits, “The liquid comes from one of the oldest Cognac houses in France, Château de Cognac. It was bottled from a rare single barrel and was matured for decades in a 200-year-old cellar.”
Jay-Z said: “When our cellar master, Michel Casavecchia, discovered the aged liquid at the Château de Cognac and explained how truly one of a kind it is, it was important to me to honour it by doing something that would celebrate its singularity. Once that barrel is emptied, there’s no way the liquid can be recreated.”
“The whole process behind the 1969 Anniversaire collection reminded me why I got involved in the spirits industry in the first place – to create something that will stand the test of time.
“It means a lot that we’re finally able to share the D’Ussé 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition with the rest of the world, and we’re proud to auction the first bottle in the collection with Sotheby’s to benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation.”
The bidding starts on March 1st on Sotheby's website and will continue through March 13th.
I aspire to be this rich!

Opening today at the Brooklyn Museum, KAWS: WHAT PARTY isBrooklyn-based artist KAWS (real name Brian Donnelly) first solo museum show in New York. It’s a retrospective and sprawling exhibition of more than 165 works, from pencil sketches of his earliest KAWS street-art murals to the monumental pair of Companions (KAWS’ famous cartoony character, a skull-and-crossbones head with Xs as eyes) in the lobby.
You’ll find paintings like his fan-favorite appropriations Kurfs and the Kimpsons, as well as a few of Donnelly's more recent, neon-colored abstract pieces.
The exhibition is filled with sculptural works, mostly of Companion and the puffy-looking Chum, but there are other cool Instagrammable features as well. One area showcases Donnelly's licensed ventures, like collectible vinyl toys and co-branded sneakers. There are pieces of furniture, including a dead Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, and Elmo chairs; several cases dedicated to old KAWS graffiti; and videos of some of Donnelly's massive public art installations around the world.
It’s a fun exhibit and the perfect pick-me up that’s totally IG feed worthy.
KAWS: WHAT PARTY exhibit opens today at the Brooklyn Museum, located at 200 Eastern Parkway in Prospect Heights. For non-members, the show currently is sold out until March 10th, but will be on extended stay at the museum through September 5, 2021. Pandemic protocols like required masks and timed-entry ticketing are all in place.
If you’re following me on the gram (FlyCarla and FlyGirlsCook) than you already know how I throw down in the kitchen. I am plant-based most of the time but I don’t deny myself so if you see me eating a lamb chop-just mind your business.
For Valentine’s Day- I wanted to treat myself. As my girl Reka of Single You Academy says, “singleness is not a punishment,” and I am not waiting for a man to treat myself or to live. I’mma do everything I want and when I want.
I love cooking foods that look impressive but really aren’t that hard to make. Most people shy away from lobster but it’s really not that difficult to cook. Lobster is always my go-to when I’m feeing fancy. I like to either grill it or broil it in the oven.
This is more of a “how-to” or “step-by-step,” rather than a recipe. It’s all about technique. You be the judge on how much, or how little butter as you want use. I go hard with the butter but that’s just me.
HOW TO PREPARE THE LOBSTER FOR BROILINGWith a sharp knife or kitchen shears, cut a straight line down the center of the top of the shell. If you do not own kitchen shears, you should. Click here to cop a pair!
Pull the flesh out from the center cut so that it lays on top of the shell.
Remove the vein. Season the lobster tails with kosher salt, black pepper, Old Bay, and a touch of paprika. Top each tail with two slices of butter and a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley.
HOW TO PREPARE BROILED LOBSTER TAILSTurn on the broiler. Place lobster tails on a baking pan.
Place under broiler for about 8 to 10 minutes. The tail is fully-cooked when the meat turns opaque. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve these bomb Broiled Lobster Tails with drawn butter seasoned with Old Bay. Yum.
I served my lobster with broccolini and a filet. I do this cooking thang.
I’m social! Follow me on IG, www.instagram.com/flycarla and www.instagram.com/flygirlscook. Let me know how your lobsters turned out! Tag your dish with #flygirlscook so I can see them! It’s such an easy dish when you’re feeling celebratory or fancy. I brought my lobsters from Whole Foods. #youcanthankmenow
Fenty Skin just extended their product offerings with the addition of Flash Nap Instant Revival Eye Gel-Cream, it’s designed to brighten and reduce fine lines over time.
The cream boasts hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, horse chestnut, Persian silk tree and green tea. As with other Fenty Skin products, it is scented.
Described as a two-in-one gel and concealer primer, the product can be purchased with cooling eye massage tool to “roll on an extra boost of eye revival.”
Rihanna said this about the new gel -cream, “For this product it was super important to me that it not only blended into the skin so that you can easily apply your makeup after, but that it would also make your concealer perform even better all day long. The eyes are so telling, they tell a story of the night before and how you’re going to go about the day ahead. I wanted our eye cream to leave you looking bright-eyed and ready to go.”
Priced at $32 for the Flash Nap Instant Revival Eye Gel-Cream or $42 for the gel-cream and massage tool, the new items are now available on sephora.com and fentybeauty.com.
Louisiana-born Tessica Brown has had a year and we’re only two months into 2021. Black folks -we gotta stop following “old wives tales” and “making due” in 2021. We have to be mindful of what we put on and into our bodies. Don’t clean your WAP with bleach, stop using hair bond glue for your eyelashes and don’t use masking tape for your lace-front. You are not a hardware store nor Staples.
Black women are getting tumors, migraines, hair loss, vision impairment, and auto-immune complications from “beauty” products. Tessica should’ve put on a hat instead of using some Gorilla Glue. Le sigh. I hope sis has seen a dermatologist, a primary care doctor for blood work and a therapist for the trauma she has endured.
Gorilla Glue Girl just launched a three-item merch capsule referencing her glue-related fame. The collection is titled “Bonded for Life'' and includes a photo screen t-shirt and hoodie from the February 3, 2021 video in which she first let the Internet in on her dilemma.
There’s also a shirt featuring an illustration of Tessica alongside a spray can reading “Stiff where ma hair?” a phrase she said in her Tik Tok video, an ironic reference to a meme started by a little girl bragging about her soft and supple hair.
Priced from $28 for the t-shirt up to $50 for the hoodie, Tessica’s merch capsule is now available on tessicamerch.com.
New York-based streetwear line Alife has partnered up with Champion to celebrate the legacy of 20 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The collection is carried exclusively at Urban Outfitters.
Featured colleges are: Albany State University, Cheyney University, Clark Atlanta University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Fisk University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University (THE REAL HU! YOU KNOW!), Johnson C. Smith University, Lincoln University, Morehouse College, Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, Norfolk State University, Spelman College, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University, and Xavier University.
Urban Outfitters also just launched an initiative titled “UO Summer Class ’21”, a 10-week, paid summer internship for five students currently attending an HBCU. As part of the internship, students will be offered a one-on-one mentoring session with Urban Outfitter leadership.
Priced at $89, the HBCU hoodie capsule launched on February 8, 2021 at urbanoutfitters.com and alifenewyork.com.
Peep the campaign video below featuring HBCU alumni and students.
I was leaving my fave plant store, The Sil on Pacific Street in Cobble Hill and was heading to my beloved Trader Joe’s when I spied with my cat-eyed lined eyes a new store across the street. I scurried across Court Street to see a brand new the RealReal store in all its glory.
Color me surprised. You mean to tell me I don’t have to head to Soho for my designer consignment goods? I can just walk down to Cobble Hill to gawk at a Dior Bobby bag? Is this gentrification or just the fact that second-hand shopping in Brooklyn has always been cool? Millennial and Gen-Z shoppers aren’t really down for spending full price for items anymore- this shift was happening pre-pandemic. Hence why there is the shell of the old Barney’s store around the corner that closed in 2019.
I perused around the store and I chatted with an associate. I asked, “who opens a store in a pandemic?” Apparently, the RealReal is doing incredibly well in the age of COVID. It is a publicly-traded company with an IPO of $300 million. It opened three new stores in 2020 — in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Chicago — and plans to open ten more in the coming quarters, with Brooklyn being the first in the new year.
The new store isn’t as big as the flagship store in Soho but it’s very much in step with the Brooklyn aesthetic. And its offerings are very Brooklyn with casual and bohemian styles and a dedicated vintage section with certified-old and “vintage-inspired” pieces.
You’ll find Hermés, Burberry, and Ulla Johnson in the ready-to-wear women’s section and the men’s section gives me ‘gorpcore’ vibes- you know, the “Good Ol’ Raisins and Peanuts” camping chic style with utilitarian gear.
Before heading to pick up your snow snacks at Trader Joe’s, pop into the RealReal especially if you’re already missing Bird which unfortunately didn’t survive the pandemic and closed after 21 years in Cobble Hill last month.

Princess Nokia’s “I Like Him” is one of my go -to gym tunes. I love listening to women talk their sh!t.

“Look at your shoes!” I gag!

I live for some cute kicks. My sneaker collection has grown since the pandemic. Since there is nowhere to go if you want to stay safe- I am not about that flying to Atlanta to party life. It’s the pandemic for me- I haven’t purchased a ton of heels. But I have copped some dope sneakers that elevate my standing in line at Trader Joe’s look.
Nike‘s Valentine’s Day 2021 sneakers have surfaced and the Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 incorporate the cutest hidden messages for the holiday of love.
Release Date: February 6
Where to Purchase: Nike and select retailers
Fly Girl Notes: Nike is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a new fun collection. For Valentine’s Day 2021, Nike is offering the Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 in a white, pink, and red colorway. Nike switched up the branding for V-Day by incorporating a heart for the dot of the “i,” and both the Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 come with hidden messages on the tongue. A snap closure can be peeled back to reveal “ME+AM90=TRUE LOVE” and “AM90 4EVER” on the Air Max 90 and “TRUE LOVE SINCE 82” on the Air Force 1. Nike’s 2021 Valentine’s Day kicks are slated to release ahead of the holiday on February 6.
I know where my next stimulus check is going.

All self-care everythang in 2021.
If I don’t do anything else- I take care of me. I celebrate my small wins, I check in with my emotions, I drink my hot water with apple cider vinegar, lemon and turmeric, I listen to Kierra Sheard and Natalie Lauren to soothe my spirit, I protect my peace, I do it all. In this climate where we need to be taking care of ourselves.
I employ my fly girls: do the things that you enjoy and that bring you to your highest self. I created a guide of my favorite things. From collagen powder (cause skincare hits differently when you’re in your thirties), CDB bath soaks to Black-owned workout clothes- this is the year to take care of you and do you.

I’m obsessed with collagen. I take it in pill form and in powder form, wrinkles be damned. I live for YouTheory’s Collagen Powder. It supplies 6,000 mg of hydrolyzed collagen per serving and it’s a super easy way to replenish the essential beauty proteins I need. I see smile lines disappearing and underneath my press-ons- my nails are long and my hair is growing. YouTheory’s Collagen Powder is a staple on my beauty cart.

2021 is wild already. As for me?
I’m focusing on my 2021 goals, like learning French via watching the cartoon Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir that the homie from Baltimore who lived in Paris for 14 years suggested. I have a goal of reading one book a month. I’m currently reading Unprotected Texts: The Bible's Surprising Contradictions About Sex and Desire. I’m striving to go deeper into my femininity. I want to be fully alive, sexy, beautiful, bold, expressive, and feminine, so Powerful and Feminine: How to Increase Your Magnetic Presence and Attract the Attention You Want is next on my reading list.
I’m also not playing with my coins in 2021. As a business owner, I’m setting up goal-based accounts and working with a financial advisor. I’m digging Farther- it gives boss babes the ability to manage their coins with expert financial advice without the absurdly high-minimums that big financial institutions require. Visit farther.com to learn more about setting up goal-based accounts and working with a financial advisor.
I’m playing no games in 2021. My 2021 motto: Don’t overestimate people and underestimate God. Let’s get it.
Who knows if Governor Andrew Cuomo will shut down personal care in New York again because of the surge of Covid-19? I’m so sick of Miss. Rona, like, wrap it up hoe. While I book my appointments for a facial, I live for my girl Courtney's O2 Lift Facial at Naked Perfection Spa and a massage at Bathhouse, one salon trip I don’t have to book- getting my nails did.
Having an extensive and dope press-on nail collect has been a God send in this pandemic. I like my nails and toes done at all times and all seasons; to the women that avoid looking at their feet during the winter- we are not the same.
My collection ranges from press-on nails that I cop from the beauty supply store, Etsy to Target. My faves are Clutch Nails. For one- they have the best nail glue. I’m rough on my nails but Clutch’s glue keeps my press-ons on. I also love the designs (Hot Girl Stunner is fire!) and length, they range from short, medium, long, and extra long. Naturally-I go for the extra long length but when I tried Clutch’s Greek Goddess Coffin Acrylic Nails in long and they were the perfect length. Maybe my nails don’t have to always be OD long.
I also love how Clutch has a monthly subscription club, you can get one or two new pairs of press-ons monthly at one set price. It’s such an easy way to make sure your press-on collection is on fleek.
Ready to step up your nail game? Peep: Clutch Nails- they’re fly girl approved.

Fly Girls- eff that pandemic weight gain. Wear your Ivy Park drip to your Zoom meeting and then hop on a Peloton. Peloton just announced the launch of their collaboration with Beyoncé, their most requested artist by more than 3.6 million members.
The collaboration commemorates Homecoming season, an annual fall celebration for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that honors tradition and legacy. As most Homecoming festivities shifted to virtual celebrations due to the global pandemic, Peloton worked closely with Beyoncé to create a series of themed workout experiences to help extend Homecoming to Peloton members via classes across multiple fitness categories, including indoor cycling, running, strength, bootcamp, yoga and meditation.
Peloton is also gifting two-year Peloton Digital memberships to students at 10 HBCUs, providing access to their full library of fitness classes through the Peloton App that can be used with or without equipment. The digital memberships will go to students at Bennett College, Clark Atlanta University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College and Morehouse School of Medicine, Spelman College, Texas Southern University and Wilberforce University by the end of November.
Additionally, Peloton is building a mutual relationships with each of these schools to pursue long-term recruiting partnerships at the internship and undergraduate levels.
This special content is accessible on the Peloton App, which anyone can try for free via a 30-day trial period, as well as through the Peloton Bike, Bike+ and Tread+. And the list of instructors for the first several Beyoncé classes are POC!
Bey’s business acumen is out of this world. There are so many linkages between her partnerships and her personal brand. Parkwood is really strategic. She is so thoughtful with business expansions. This will give Ivy Park and Bey even more credibility in the health and fitness market. Parkwood is out here connecting all the dots. She'll definitely be expanding to new areas soon.
Dear Random Dating App Man,
F*ck your WYD text.
F*ck your how are you text.
F*ck your good morning text too.
F*ck your how was your day text as well.
F*ck all of your low-effort communication that you arrogantly assume is doing something other than annoying me. You aren’t applying pressure by asking me “WYD” everyday.
AHT AHT, yes, you are getting blocked. Because, sir, I answered you in complete sentences and I even set it up for you to be engaged and yet you still dropped the ball.
Like, sir, I’m good, my day is going well, I slept well too cause thankfully, I have enough sense to not be laid up with man who can only offer me breadcrumbs when I need a whole meal.
It’s not you. It’s me.
I require someone who is looking for something real and puts in real reasonable effort. There’s a gang of stuff to talk about. You know, like a global pandemic. How The Boys on Amazon Prime is the most ratchet superhero show. Homeland is a narcissist with mommy issues. Or how Trump is about to lose his job.
I am a lively conversonalist. I legit take pride in being about to talk to anyone about anything. It’s because I’m well read af. And I listen! I read everything so you can ask me anything. Yet you don’t.
I can’t get wet over a WYD text. It’s not intriguing. Rather I am not intrigued. I’m really baffled at how a grown man communicates like a teenager who texts in shorthand.
You refuse to go below the surface but you seem confused as to why when you text me days later that I reply with a “who's this?”
Look, 917-555-5555, I don’t even know your name. Your number is not saved in my phone cause you did nothing to earn a place in my contacts even though I have mad storage on my iPhone.
Oh, you are interested? I can’t tell. You lack the fundamentals of any relationship and that's communication.
Oh, you want me? You want me to do what? Go 50/50 on a date or the bills?
Oh, you want to come over? You think you’re going to drink my wine with my West Elm wine glasses and enjoy the view of the Manhattan skyline from my crib?
917-555-5555 -you sure do want a lot while doing the least. You got nothing to offer me but the audacity.
Your game is simple and boring and while other women can be so desperate that it works for them, I’m not them.
You are failing to understand that I have carefully curated my life like I’m an artist on display at the MoMA. My life is dope and I do dope things even in a pandemic. You don’t get that your presence has to be more comforting than my solitude. You have to add some value to my life.
Frivolous conversations that don't lead to a social distancing date is whack. I would like to put on a cute outfit with a matching mask. We can go for a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. Or hit up the MoMA.
I need some action along with in-depth conversations.
I know what I bring to the table and I’m not afraid to eat alone so come correct or GTFOMP.
Sincerely,
A deeply annoyed and frustrated at the lack of prospects with some sense and who have healed/ or are healing on dating apps - Fly Carla

The fashion industry is in mourning as the community learned Kenzo founder Kenzō Takada passed away yesterday, October 5, 2020 in the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France at age 81 from COVID-19 related complications.
The news was announced on his Instagram feed with a caption reading: “It is with great sadness that we have learned that our dear friend Kenzo Takada passed away today. He was an inspiring and prodigious creator and we were proud to collaborate with him. We will always remember his smile and joie de vivre. The fashion, design world and all of us are mourning him tonight and extend our sincere condolences to his loved ones.”
Kenzo creative director Felipe Oliveir Baptista also weighed in on Instagram where he wrote, “It is with great sadness that I have learned the passing away of Mr Kenzo Takada. His amazing energy, kindness, talent and smile were contagious. His kindred spirit will live forever.”
Born in Osaka, Japan Takada first traveled to Paris by boat in 1965 and launched his brand as Jungle Jap in 1970. Following a considerable amount of controversy, including a battle that ended up in the U.S. Supreme Court, in 1972 he chose to change the name of the label to Kenzo.
Commenting on that decision in an interview with Schon! in February 2019, Takada explained, “In 1972, after the fashion show at Macy’s in New York. Japanese people were protesting outside the show against the use of the word Jap in Jungle Jap.
In France, Jap did not have a negative connotation; I initially chose the name Jungle Jap as a reflection of my heritage. When I was younger, I was told that a Japanese man like me would not succeed in the French fashion industry. Yet, I was determined to prove them wrong, so I wanted to add the word Jap in reference to Japan in the brand’s name. So when I came back to France, the team decided to rename the brand Kenzo.”
Takada sold the label to LVMH in 1993, and retired six years later. In January of of this year, he launched K-3, a home and lifestyle brand. The brand is now led by designer Baptista, who was appointed creative director when designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim stepped down last year.

High school Fly Carla is rejoying! I remember my high school boyfriend buying me a Baby Phat bucket hat with the matching purse. You couldn’t tell me anything with my Baby Phat accessories popping in the 11th grade.
So clearly, I’m all for the launch of Baby Phat Beauty. Queen of fabulosity Kimora Lee Simmons and daughters Ming and Aoki Lee Simmons are expanding on their Baby Phat empire with the launch of Baby Phat Beauty. The expansion into the beauty category is a collaboration with HatchBeauty Brands, a Los Angeles beauty company founded in 2009.
Lee Simmons on the new beauty expansion, “I think it’s very important that right now, in this time of Black Lives Matter, that could be brown lives matter, to be a young woman, certainly for Ming and Aoki, and for myself, to be a woman, a woman of color, to have your own brand.”
Baby Phat Beauty launches with a three-item Shimmer Dreams gift set, which includes an illuminating body spray (four ounces), a plumping lip gloss (0.35 ounces) and a hydrating body lotion (three ounces). Items are packaged in a reusable pink glitter travel pouch detailed with the famed Baby Phat cat motif.
The Shimmer Dream set is offered in one of three scent combinations: Divine (black currant, jasmine and vanilla), Opulence (peach, midnight orchid and caramel) and Ethereal (green apple, red berries and amber).
The set is priced at $45, all three Shimmer Dream sets are now available at babyphat.com.
I love when artists drop clever merch. Cardi B just dropped some clever merch that plays off of her record breaking single, “WAP” featuring Megan thee Stallion.
The capsule includes a raincoat, an umbrella and a bikini top with matching biker shorts.
The raincoat is hooded and ranges in sizes S-2XL, it is a mid-length silhouette in transparent material with the word WAP across the midsection. Up your WAP factor with an umbrella in either black or pink, also stamped with the song’s title.
The capsule also includes a sweatshirt and joggers. Ranging in price from $25 for the umbrella up to $125 for the raincoat, all items are now available on wapstore.cardib.com. Items will ship in six-12 weeks.
Saved by the Bell embodies everything early 90s-- the fashion, the hair, the car phones. Lisa Turtle was my spirit animal, for obvious fashion-obsessed reasons. She had style with wits, ambition and a versatile wardrobe. And her curve game was strong. She curved Screech for years and then to add insult to injury, she had a brief dalliance with Zack. She was a savage in my young eyes.
Starting tomorrow, August 20th through August 25th, Saved By The Max- a Saved by the Bell pop up restaurant presents Saved by the Bell Day 2020.
This is your chance to fulfill your childhood dreams of hanging with your squad and enjoying a “Bayside Burger” and “Home of The Tigers Tater Tots” all while socially distancing.

I’m in my bag. I was able to score a Telfar bag during yesterday’s drop. I was on it. I worked out in the morning, ran to Trader Joe’s and was back home in front of my computer by 12:00 pm. I kept refreshing the site and at 12:01 pm, the site went live.
Telfar uses Shop Pay so my information was already filled out, I just had to press pay and that sweet small “Bubblegum Pink Shopping Bag” was mine. I can’t wait to stunt on y’all as y’all wait for your bags through the Bag Security Program.
To satisfy more of my hypebeast needs, Supreme has partnered with Pat McGrath for a MatteTrance super pigmented lipstick in shade SUPREME. It’s Pat McGrath’s first-ever beauty collaboration in the brand’s 26 year history.
The Supreme x Pat McGrath collab matches Supreme’s signature red color. The lipstick packaging is co-branded with Supreme’s font and Pat McGrath’s gold lips adornment and is packaged in a red co-branded paper box that opens with a paper button and string closure.
The item will launch as part of Supreme’s fall 2020 collection. The first fall drop hits online and in stores on August 20th. Pat McGrath’s Lab’s MatteTrance lipstick is priced at $28 and the Supreme’s version of it will be priced higher, but not more than $50.
As of now, it’s not known what weekly drop the lipstick will be included, but follow @dropsbyjay as they preview each week’s items with pricing a few days before each drop.
Telfar is constantly trending on my Twitter feed. The love for the Black-owned brand is inspiring, especially given the lack of diversity within fashion houses, it’s nice to see hype over a brand that is for inclusivity.
Dubbed the “Bushwick Birkin,” the It bag is seen all over Brooklyn, yet the “Shopping Bag” always sells out in minutes, much to the dismay of Twitter users hoping to hop on the trend.
Telfar is making its constantly sold out “Shopping Bag” easier to buy online. With an online shopping event on Wednesday, the brand is launching its Bag Security Program, during which shoppers can pre-order the coveted bag in “any size, any color, any quantities.” For 24 hours beginning at midnight on Aug. 19, fans can pre-pay for “guaranteed delivery” of the hot bag by no later than Jan. 15, 2021.
“We are not about hype and scarcity,” wrote Telfar. “We didn’t set out to make an impossible to get product. The whole point of our bag is accessibility and community.”
Launched in 2014 by Telfar Clemens, the genderless label’s “Shopping Bag” is available in three sizes with accessible price points (ranging from $150 to $257) and has been regularly sold out since it debuted.
The Bag Security Program is a dope way to secure one of the most sought out bags.
Log onto shop.telfar.net, starting a few minutes after midnight on Wednesday, place your order, and secure your bag.
I’m here for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” track. I feel no ways about women talking their sh!t. I’ve noticed that men and women dislike confident women. Men want a baddie but they don’t want women to know that they're bad and women don’t want you to be more popping than them.
If I am to believe that Lil Uzi Vert gets mad women then why can’t I believe that Cardi and Meg have a wap?
I saw some women on social media say, “it’s the women with dry pussies singing “WAP” and I’m like, are we clocking other women’s pussies now? Sis, how do you know?
Insecurities are so loud on social media.
Cold Coco, a black owned jewelry company is offering a custom g-string that’s so sexy. I would pair it with some low rise jeans. It’s a g-string that is meant to be shown. Deal with it.

I love my apartment. I am Dumbo, Brooklyn’s fly girl. I live fly AF, thank you, Jesus. I moved into my one-bedroom apartment in December of last year. I move in silence. I left a dude on read for months and when I finally reappeared, he had no idea that I had moved to a different city.
You have to make moves on these men.
With my work schedule from December to March, I could count the number of times I was in my apartment. When the lockdown hit New York in March, I welcomed the downtime. I took a voluntary leave of absence from my job in March and I’ve been in Dumbo ever since.
I love waking up in luxury. I haven’t had my own apartment for years and this one is the most fabulous of the three Brooklyn apartments that I’ve rented.
In the last six months of enjoying my apartment:
But even with my little slice of fly in Dumbo, the loneliness of being quarantined still hurts. This quarantine has definitely magnified loneliness. I told myself 2020 was the year that I’ll meet someone. But how Sway? When half of my face is covered with a mask? And I barely go out ‘cause you know, Rona.
I get that I am alone but not lonely because I have friends and family that love me but even as much of a boss that I am, I’m not too bossy to say that I yearn for a man.
I feel that some women are embarrassed or too prideful to say that out loud and in turn, they also never say exactly what they want in a man. Sometimes my mouth gets me in trouble or good trouble depending on who it is. I say what I want and what I don’t want. I also tell men when they ain’t it. I let them know when they don’t match me, spiritually, emotionally, or financially.
Having standards that I won’t deviate from totally ups the loneliness factor. Some days I wish I had a boo to lay with and watch The Umbrella Academy. There are days when I cook and I make too much that I wish I had a man to feed. When the line at Trader Joe’s was 40 plus minutes during lockdown, I definitely wished I had someone to talk to while waiting. I wish I had someone that I could bounce big ideas off of because he dreams just as big. Or someone that I could talk to about the awesomeness of God because he knows God for himself.
Most recently, I was a guest on The Tammi Mac Late Show on Fox Soul. I was on to discuss fashion and Black culture and how we don’t ever get the credit for the trendsetting that we deserve. I was fabulous. I was giving Joy Reid and Charlamagne tha God flavor. It was an awesome experience.
When the show ended, I talked to my parents who had watched and texted with a couple of friends who had also tuned in. They were excited and proud of me but once the conversations ended, a rush of sadness washed over me. I yearned for an in-depth discussion of my first national television appearance or a toast of champagne with someone who is in awe of the rhetoric that I discussed on the show.
I felt the whisper of “your career won’t keep you warm at night” because it was in having a pivotal moment in my career that I felt loneliness. Loneliness is real and it can be debilitating. Loneliness can stop you in your tracks and it can laugh at you when you can’t open a jar cause you ain’t got no man. It shows up when your friends don’t answer your calls. A certain song can trigger romantic feelings. And too much wine will have you real close to calling someone you know needs to stay right where he’s quarantined.
Being single and quarantined, I’ve been encouraged not to settle with someone out of desperation. While going through this experience has brought its own challenges, I’d take those any day over the struggle of trying to make it through quarantine with a useless man. Doubly so when kids are involved.
The pandemic made me realize that I am a complete human being and I want a partner that complements that. I want someone that deeply understands and values the need for autonomy.
What gets me through the real tough spots of loneliness is knowing that I deserve someone who is worth my companionship. It’s me knowing that I have a lot to offer and if I don’t understand and honor my self-worth, I’ll be offering a lot to someone who doesn’t deserve it. And he’ll know it too.
Once you start offering yourself to someone who doesn’t deserve all that you are, you will start to lose yourself. Most people aren’t crazy but they drive themselves nuts by being with someone they should’ve left on read. Or they continuously try to make something work when they should walk away.
I know how easy it is to fall into the trappings of a sweet talker, a narcissistic, or a well-dressed bum because of loneliness. It takes strength to pull yourself out of the pit of loneliness. It takes me turning on some Teedra Moses, putting my phone away, and telling myself to continue to mind my black owned business.
With no end in sight because Trump has no idea what he’s doing and Americans are too trashy and privileged to be inconvenienced by wearing a mask, who knows when society will be back to normal? Post COVID, I’m going to use this pandemic to filter out the anti-maskers. I need to know how his maturity and morality levels were in a pandemic. On future first dates, you better believe I will be asking, “So how did you behave throughout the pandemic?” If a man tells me that they were out partying every weekend. It’s on to the next.
I curve loneliness by keeping myself busy and continuously working on myself. As long as I don’t gain that quarantine fifteen and I attempt to put on clothes other than leggings, then maybe as luck will have it, I’ll meet someone in line at Trader Joe’s. I just have to keep honoring my highest self by not settling ‘cause I’m lonely
In happier times, the news of a Hermes sale would excite fashionistas but now, copping even half-off Hermes seems like a taunting shopping task. The lines, the crowd, an indoor space. You gotta really want to add to your collection.
The sale is set to take place Thursday, August 6 through Saturday, August 8 from 10am to 6pm, at the Americana Manhasset shopping center in Long Island, New York. Social distancing protocol will be followed.
No silks or leather goods. That means no ties or scarves. Most will gravitate to the shoes, jewelry, and ready-to-wear. You’ll definitely find Clic-Clac bracelets - but they tend to go fast.

I miss brunching with my homies. I miss wearing a cute outfit and drinking a Bloody Mary. Le sigh. Last weekend, I decided to make a savory brunch meal for one. These egg crescent squares with bacon are super easy to make and they only take 15 mins. Get into them.
Egg Crescent Squares with Bacon
6 ingredientsMeat
Produce
Refrigerated
Baking & Spices
Bread & Baked Goods
Dairy
Make It Work:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Open and unroll the crescents onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Split each sheet of dough right down the middle, so you have a total of 4 large squares of dough. Pinch perforations together in each square to seal dough seams.
Fold up the edges of the dough (about 1/2 inch of the edge around each square). Crack two eggs into the center of each dough square. Sprinkle with a bit of Parmesan and a smidgen of salt and pepper.
Place three slices of bacon across the eggs on each square. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese, and additional salt and pepper if desired.
Bake in oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges of the dough are golden brown and the eggs are cooked to your preference.
Garnish with basil just before serving, and enjoy!
This event popped up on my Instagram. It sounds dope. It’s a floral print themed picnic that will take place on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
The flyers state that they will provide the vibes with games and music. They ask that you bring your picnic baskets and blankets.
I would be all for this event if there wasn’t Covid-19. I’ve realized that everyone has their comfort levels when it comes to Covid-19. Some don’t care and can be around people. There are anti-maskers. There are conspiracy theorists and there are people who believe that we all will get the virus so YOLO.
I have the perfect outfit but I’m not about that life.

With the announcement that Netflix is bringing seven classic Black sitcoms to the platform, Black Twitter has been all ablaze. We be so hype. Clearly, representations matters. I just loathe how we always have to wait for the most mundane things. Wildly successful sitcoms should've been on Netflix.
Real change would have been adding Homeboys in Outer Space and Out All Night.
And please calm down cause Living Single has been on Hulu for a minute. Step ya streaming platforms up.
But for those Living Single fans, I recently stumbled upon a fun IG profile.
Everyoutfitinlivingsingle documents clothing, jewelry, decor, and singular moments from “the best sitcom on earth” according to it’s IG bio.
Living Single had everything- style, Hip-Hop, educated Black people, and it showcased entrepreneurship, and Black love.
I always thought I was either Regine and Khadijah. Khadijah stayed with a fine man and ran her own business but then Regine was a whole mood. Case and point:
Enjoy Everyoutfitinlivingsingle and get ya life.
How ya’ll skin looking under the masks? I’m finishing up a story from my favorite esthetician, Courtney, owner of Brooklyn’s Naked Perfection Spa on clearing up maskne. This is the perfect time to work on your skin. I need my fly girls to have a Covid-19 glow up.
Bajan beauty, Rihanna is here to help. Bad gal RiRi just announced her new skin care line called Fenty Skin. To start- the line will include a cleanser, toner and moisturizer with sunscreen. The names for each of the products are as follows: Total Cleans’r, Fat Water toner and Day Cream with sunscreen.
With minimalist packaging, folks are saying the line looks like Kylie Skin and Florence by Mills.
Folks are also a tad skeptical saying they want to see the ingredients before they make the purchase. As of yet, Fenty Skin hasn’t provided either an ingredient list or pricing in advance of the launch.
While I would like to see both an ingredient list or pricing, Fenty Skin is under the LVMH‘s Kendo umbrella, which has experience producing the dedicated skincare line Ole Henriksen.
Rihanna announced news of the brand with a visual of her using all three products. The brand followed up with a campaign video featuring A$AP Rocky and Lil Nas X.

We have until the end of this month to ball out with that extra $600 from the gubment. It just saddens me how the gubment is treating Americans. They are really on vacation right now while Americans are STARVING & BROKE. Other countries have been giving their citizens MONTHLY STIPENDS during this time but not the US. We are literally at DEFCON ONE and these mofos are acting like it's a typical summer break and everything is normal.
I’m disgusted.

But with the extra $600 from the government, my wardrobe is also like, “f*ck Trump, get fly.”
Which is why I’m swooning over the Issa Vibe Waistbag by SK WiLBUR. I’m ready for dope vibes! Maybe in 2021? Hmm, with the way idiots are partying in other states, maybe 2022?

Give Teyana Taylor her flowers now. She is a creative breast. I really feel like her label is stopping her fly. G.O.O.D. Music is only good to Kanye and Pusha T. Her new singles from her forthcoming album, The Album are dope. “Made It” is such a bop for 2020 graduates and Tay broke the internet with her “Bare Wit Me” visuals. Taylor just announced plans for MAC Cosmetics makeup collaboration coming next month.
Taylor didn’t offer specific details on what will be included in the multi-product collaborative effort, but in the above image (shot by Daniel Sannwald), Taylor is wearing a glossy red lip that will be included in her MAC capsule.
Taylor wrote on Instagram, “I remember walking by the Mac store on 125th street coming from school, amazed at all the dope campaign ads spread across floor to ceiling windows & on other major department stores. MAC Cosmetics really inspired me because they were one of the first mainstream companies to fearlessly and unapologetically embrace women of color and the LGBTQ Community. That was big for me being a young black girl from Harlem telling myself that one day that would be me plastered in that window!”
This is fab and I’m here for it. Last week, Taylor announced she’s six months pregnant with a girl with a new song/video titled “Wake Up Love” featuring her husband Iman Shumpert and her daughter Iman “Junie” Shumpert.
Her new album, The Album drops tomorrow.
I’ve dragged Virgil Abloh before for his lackluster clothing line yet I was really close to buying an Off-White wallet cause it was on sale. But when Virgil posted on IG, his lack of support for the protesting of the murder of George Floyd, I had to take his wallet outta my cart. He gave a measly $50 contribution to Fempower, a Miami-based organization providing bail money to jailed protesters.
He had to backtrack with a post on Instagram saying that he donated over $20,000 to jailed protesters previously.
He should have led with that.
These brands need to get it together. They take our money yet they don’t care about us. They barely want us wearing their clothes but they use our aesthetic. White girls wearing braids will never not look like they just came back from a Jamaica vacation no matter the theme of the photoshoot or the clothes.
Below, you will find a detailed list of brands and their responses to #BlackLivesMatter. It’s in alphabetical order and categorized by beauty or non-beauty brands and showcases brand’s response to the murder of George Floyd.

Rihanna shut down IG last year when she posted a video of herself doing a sexy slow strut while wearing a hot pink tie-dye dress. The brand behind the sexy asymmetrical style — previously made exclusively for the 32-year-old bad gal — is making it available to the masses, with 100 percent of the profits to be split between Black Lives Matter, Solace Women’s Aid and The Voice of Domestic Workers.
“We will be producing this iconic dress exclusively for three charities,” designer A Sai Ta of ASAI announced on Instagram over the weekend.
“No one else has this dress apart from me and Riri,” he added.
Interested fashionistas can direct-message the brand to purchase Rihanna’s “Hot Wok” dress, priced at $376 plus shipping, or email info@asaita.co.uk to place an order.
Last night, I watched Taraji P. Henson on CNN talk about her mental health foundation, Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation and the trauma that we as Blacks are currently experiencing with tears in her eyes.
It was a powerful showing of how between the pandemic, the killing of Breoanna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Flloyd that we are mother effing tired. I know, I’m exhausted. This is way too much.
I’m also over CNN and other media outlets asking Black people to explain the rationale of white people’s behavior. How are Black folks supposed to know what the police are thinking? Ask white journalists, why Derek Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck for seven minutes.
Having Black men crying on TV while speaking about trauma. It’s all a spectacle.
Anywho, Taraji’s Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation is offering five free virtual therapy sessions for individuals and families.
It’s a really quick application process and although applications are currently closed, sign up for their newsletter to get alerts for the next round of free therapy offering.
This is a trying time and our mental health is important.
Sign up here to be notified for when you can apply for the second round of five free therapy sessions.
I love Taraji for doing this! HU! You Know!

Say what now, Travis?

Forbes has just published a FULL exposé on Kylie Jenner lying about her billionaire status:
Earlier this year, Kylie Jenner sold half of her cosmetics company in one of the greatest celebrity cash outs of all time. But the deal’s fine print reveals that she has been inflating the size and success of her business. For years.
More than a decade into their fame, the Kardashian-Jenners tend to induce eye-rolls and sighs among jaded media consumers. But when it comes to their wealth, even critics of reality TV’s first family are intrigued;the Kardashian-Jenner machine—and the cash it generates—has been the subject of articles, podcasts, even books. But no one cares more about the topic than the family itself, which has spent years fightingForbes for higher spots on our annual wealth and celebrity earnings lists.
So when the youngest of the clan, Kylie Jenner, sold 51% of her Kylie Cosmetics to beauty giant Coty in a deal valued at $1.2 billion thisJanuary, it was a watershed moment for the family. One of the greatest celebrity cashouts of all time, the transaction seemed to confirm what Kylie had been saying all along and what Forbes had declared in March 2019: that Kylie Jenner was, indeed, a billionaire—at least before the coronavirus.
Kylie is a modern-day icon, with an incredible sense of the beautyconsumer,” Coty chairman Peter Harf gushed when announcing theacquisition in November.
But in the deal’s fine print, a less flattering truth emerged. Filings released by publicly traded Coty over the past six months lay bare one of the family’s best-kept secrets: Kylie’s business is significantly smaller, and less profitable, than the family has spent years leading the cosmeticsindustry and media outlets, including Forbes, to believe.

Kylie's response:
My two cents:Forbes basically have egg all over their face. Out of all the self-made billionaires they could have covered such as Pat Mcgrath (MUVA) and others, they rushed to chose Kylie because it was a popularity contest. And now the gag is she's not even a billionaire at all.
Hate to see it.
How cute is this bag? I just envision myself rocking it while standing in the ridiculously long line at Trader Joe’s. Gone are the days of just running into Trader Joe’s to buy their Coconut & Almond Creamer-which is bomb AF btw.
This tote bag is an ode to Hype Williams and it is so Hip-Hop. I stan. Hype’s videos are a Hip-Hop treasure. The shiny suits and fisheye lenses bring back memories of chill days in my youth.
It’s a limited edition reusable grocery bag designed by Sean Brown & Xylk.
"If it wasn’t for the era of shiny suits and fisheye lenses, I don’t even think I would’ve pursued a career in the arts. I would spend countless hours glued to the television watching Planet Groove and studied cd liner notes more than I studied for math tests. This is a tribute to a time period I’m fortunate to be from. An era I didn’t take for granted then, and one I don’t take for granted now. We were living it in real time." —Sean Brown
Thank you Hype Williams.

I watched Wu-Tang: An American Saga and then went on IG and followed all the actors from the series, they all were cute even ODB’s dusty self. While I anxiously wait for season two and listen to the Wu, this event will hold me over.
