Active Rainbow
[Generation ACT] explores individual stories of identity and activism.
While still beginners in podcasting, we bring closer to you honest conversations with individuals that we are inspired by. These are friends and colleagues, part of the Active Rainbow community, and above all, fellow activists from all around the world whose initiatives and actions are contributing to the promotion of LGBT+ human rights.
We blend our topics and talk about gender, sexuality, non-formal learning, mental health, self-care, drag king scene, transitioning, intersectionality, pride, and more.
In this part of interviews with volunteers of the Pride Begins team, meet Cecilia, Burak, Carla and Sam as they introduce themselves and share their motivations for joining the project.
The European Solidarity Corps volunteering project is co-funded with the support of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, which is administered in Latvia by the Jaunatnes Starptautisko Programmu Aģentūra.
In this first part of interviews with volunteers of the Pride Begins team, meet Niki, M., and Weronica as they introduce themselves and share their motivations for joining the project.

Welcome to the Generation ACT podcast!
Under the series of this podcast, we explore a new format and possibly a new series of podcast called "Activists on Activists". In this first episode, we are excited to welcome part of the young team behind our YOUth ACTivist Camp Project! We welcome Stella (GR), Alva (SW), Filip (CZ), Marta (IT) and Cathy (GR/LV/NL) who have prepared questions to ask each other and reflect on their learning experience and the LGBTQIA+ situation in their countries.
Some of the questions and topics we discussed:
- What inspiration have you gotten from the YACamp, and activists you met there (both during and after)?
- Do you have any actions to share which you felt gave a positive (or interesting) result?

The Temple of the Queers Podcast introduces you to various insiders of the LGBTQIA+ community, with each their own intriguing story. The podcast has been made by four queer individuals who all have a passion for activism through different tactics. With Temple of the Queers, we explore digital activism through podcasting.
This podcast episode was produced by participants of the YOUth in ACTivism: The Camp project, which Active Rainbow organized together with Olde Vechte Foundation in Ommen, the Netherlands between the 25th and 5th of September 2021.

The project is the 4th edition of the Youth Experiential Learning Program that blends activism with non-formal education. It is a 12 days dynamic skills-based program for young people who have a strong interest in the LGBTQIA+ community and want to create a lasting social change. It is funded thanks to the support of the Erasmus+ programme, which is administered in the Netherlands by the Erasmuplus Jeugd.

In the seventh episode of the series, we enthusiastically welcome Gabriel Vivas Martinez, our dear friend, colleague, and fellow activist, who is an actor, applied theater, and embodiment trainer.
“[…] If we are against one oppression, we are against all oppressions. So, I would say that the love revolution can not be completed if we leave out women, if we leave out LGBTQIA+, if we leave out people with disabilities, if we leave out black lives, if we leave out all the different diversities, expressions, genders. We need to address the fact that we are all different and all the same and to fulfill that dream of the revolution of love, we will have to unite us.[…]”
We are always inspired by his words, expertise, and the contribution he offers and creates for social change with youth and adult groups. We had a lovely time catching up back in June of last year, and among the topics we discussed were:
- How can we welcome all the different expressions within the LGBT+ community, body expression, etc;
- What do we mean when we say embodiment?
- How using theater and body movement benefits social change and individual connections;
- What it means to promote activism and social change through artistic actions and interventions;
- Reflected on his work with different groups, migrants and refugee people, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, and more; The importance of intersectionality;
- The responsibilities of facilitators and youth workers that when it comes to trauma, we need to acknowledge that as facilitators we do not know our participant's stories and backgrounds;
- What it means to give generosity and tenderness in our bodies, allowing ourselves to be responsive and not judging ourselves;
- What it means to celebrate our voices and who we are;
- And many more;
