AAPI have experienced racism throughout the past century, and even as early as the history of American immigration. More recently, the Atlanta shootings and a report by Stop AAPI Hate (founded by A3PCON, Chinese for Affirmative Action, and San Francisco State University’s Asian American Studies Development) have resulted in a national outrage over systemic racism, microaggressions, fetishization, and violence against people of AAPI descent.
The issue seems to be that people (1) either deny its existence; (2) acknowledge it and keep quiet for various reasons; (3) acknowledge it and respond ineffectively; or (4) acknowledge it and respond unbiblically. This seminar focuses on five underlying biblical theological conversations that I hope will inform how you will respond to this issue today.
