A common question Bonnie gets from friends and associates is - how does she manage everything; working full-time, being a loving wife and mother, achieving her many graduate degrees, serving in her community, and staying fit over the years.
There is no magic formula for her success and happiness. All of her past, current, and future success are founded on vision, and it progresses with purpose, keeping momentum, and working toward a clear objective.
Throughout her career, she has had numerous chances to coach others. She has shared mental, physical, and emotional wellness strategies with groups of parents, youth, and professionals in a variety of settings, including professional counseling settings, "parking lot" conversations with friends and colleagues, in-home gatherings of women, and presentations to parent groups, youth, and professionals. She's worked with young individuals transitioning into adulthood, new moms juggling parenthood with work or school, women dealing with the changes that come with an empty nest, a recent divorce, or those looking to start a new career or transform a hobby into a business.

Today I am sharing with you my own experience with burnout, what it taught me and how I recovered from it. I am will also share tips you can use to recover from burn out too!
In this episode we cover
My own experience with burnout
What I did and how I helped myself recover from burnout
What we can do preventatively after we experienced burnout to care for ourselves and do so in a way that's conducive to being a mom entrepreneur.

In this episode, I decide to personally talk about something I am passionate about changing - the way women, more specifically moms, think and feel about making money, accumulating wealth, and investing in ourselves.
The narrative today in the media is that women are bad with money, have expensive habits, and need others (men) to take care of us financially. This narrative affects our internal beliefs and how we feel about ourselves and money.
In this episode I address:
- changing how we feel about our skill with earning and managing money.
- adopting an abundant, growth mindset.
- investing in ourselves.
- shifting the narrative around women and money.

Annie knew, from a young age, that education and personal development were the keys to financial freedom. It’s a lesson that’s served Annie well, and that she continues to pass on to others as an educator and entrepreneur.
Annie arrived in Canada from Hong Kong in 1980 and pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. All of Annie’s business decisions have been driven by her desire to live her best life, which included being there for her son at every stage.
After successfully starting a systems consulting company serving the financial industry in the early-90s and a home-based online business in the mid-90s, Annie spearheaded a successful networking group in 1998 that is now in its second decade of existence.
In 2010, Annie’s drive also resulted in the birth of a mathematics-based child learning center.
Today, this center is a thriving hub of online learning in the COVID era thanks to Annie's vision.
Annie has expanded her gift for networking to create the United Networks for Growth, connecting businesses all over the world. And this—this desire to help people realize their full potential—is the cohesive thread that runs through all of Annie's invariably successful ventures.

The Responsive Woman came to being after Lindsey Peterson's journey of self discovery in motherhood. She came to the realization that if she didn't want to lose herself completely and be exhausted all day, she needed to find a better way. She was drawn to the conscious discipline approach, designed to support kids with specific goals and strategies to take them out of that survival part of our brain and help them get to that higher part of our brain where we feel secure.
She adapted the approach to fit her adult life, and the results were amazing. She stayed emotionally and physically strong, and her family began to prosper. She could be the mother and wife she always desired to be.
The best part, she can teach you how to do the same. To adopt a brain-based method to respond effectively in stressful situations while remaining safe in yourself and connected to your loved ones. This lesson has the potential to change your life.
In this episode we cover:
What the responsive woman is all about?
How do you even start moving out of survival mode?
What tools are good to use to calm down or to find calm?
What do our brains actually need?
How can we help our kids with their big feelings, if we're not necessarily feeling good?
How can we teach our children the calming technique?
Key Points:
Each part of the brain actually asks a question and this is based on brain developmental research or brain-based research, Dan Siegel, conscious discipline, Becky Bailey, they've really developed this kind of approach. What they say is that each part of the brain has a question and the survival part of the brain is asking the question, am I safe? And the function of that part of the brain is to keep you safe, it's to keep you alive. That's why we do those three reactions that fight-flight or freeze because we're trying to do whatever we can to stay alive. There are a lot of times where it's not actually a life or death situation. We just have to first recognize that and be like, is this a life or death situation? If it is okay, good use that fight flight or freeze. It's well designed.
For a lot of the women I work with, it's being able to accept, help, recognize that sometimes I can't do this on my own and I need some help from people to help me with that need because I can't meet it on my own right now.
Our goal is to move through the different stages, to get to the executive level of our brain before we try to engage and help our kids through what they're going through.
If someone is interested, they can do one of two things right now. They can either book a call with me and be like, I'm legit ready? Like, how do we do this? How do I like it, how can Lindsay guide me in this process? I typically work with people for around six weeks. It's really fast because it's again, just skills building its awareness and it's helping design a specific plan for you. That's one of the options, or I'll give you a link to a free workshop that I have for people and it's called the failure cup workshops. I literally break all of this down even more and give more tools, more strategies to help someone really learn how to specifically fill their cup up. Maybe where they're at 50% and then hopefully we get them up even to 75, probably in that session. Like I would see that would be probably pretty feasible.

In this episode we discuss how yoga can help people deal with trauma, specifically mothers post child birth. Trauma often resides in the mind & body. Brooke Sumi and Becca Jesperson created In This Moment Box for kids. They wanted them to fully understand that life does not exist outside the present moment.
Brooke has her masters in marriage and family therapy. She has spent the majority of her career working in a forensic setting with individuals who committed offenses against others. Brooks saw the power and efficacy of mindfulness and meditation while working in high-risk institutions, both for herself and the clients. Her current purpose includes introducing these concepts to children, looking through a more preventative lens versus a rehabilitation lens.
Becca has her master's in social work. After graduating, she worked at Sandridge a civil commitment center providing treatment for high-risk adult sex offenders here. She became experienced incorporating mindfulness in to her work as well as her own life. Much of Becca's work has been focused on helping individuals after they are involved with the criminal justice system. She is committed now to providing preventative resources, to help people earlier in life.
At In This Moment, their mission is to help as many children as possible experience the benefits of mindfulness and living in the present moment. They recognize there are some children less fortunate than others. In an effort to provide more resources to those children, a percentage of sales will go to donating craftivity boxes to children in foster care.

Welcome to Mom's Best Life Podcast!
This episode is very special to me. I am interviewing my mom, Monica Bell. My mom went back to high school at 33 to obtain two prerequisite courses she needed to get into University. She then went to university and obtained her degree at age 40. She did all of this while working, raising her 2 girls with my dad who also worked full time, and being an overall great mom. She overcame obstacles and worked hard to reach her goals. Later in life she pivoted and got into food safety. And finally, upon retiring, she started her own quilting and fibre art business - Laleham Willows Quilting – Fibre Arts & Long Arm Services. She credits lifelong learning to keeping her passion for life and truly believes that it is never too late to go after your goals! You can find her on Instagram @lalehamwillows
