A Psalm of complaint and of praise. Verses 1-3 “In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness deliver me. Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be to me a rock of strength; a stronghold to save me. For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.” Verses 7-8 “I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, Because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul, and You have not given me over into the hand of my enemy; You have set my feet in a large place.” Thank you Abba Father for setting my feet in a large spacious place and that I am not trapped or hemmed in!

Verse 2 “O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.” Verse 5 “For His anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” Verses 11-12 “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.”

Ascribe means “to attribute, impute, or assign.” “Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name.” “The voice of the LORD is powerful. The voice of the LORD is majestic.” “The LORD sits as King forever. The LORD will give strength to His people. The LORD will bless His people with peace.”

An example of prayer when one is suffering, but not because of their sin. This Psalm reminded me of Job. “Vindicate me, O LORD...”

Prayer for protection, guidance, and pardon. A Psalm of David. Verse 1-2b “To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust. Do not let me be ashamed.” Verse 16-18 “Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses. Look upon my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins.”

Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty.... The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. This chapter also reminded me of 2 Corinthians 5:21 & Hebrews 10:22.

This Psalm is a prophetic psalm containing the sufferings of Jesus Christ! The very words of our Messiah begin this chapter “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” I also read 1 Peter 1:3-13.
