A Psalm of complaint and of praise. Verses 1-3 “In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness deliver me. Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be to me a rock of strength; a stronghold to save me. For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.” Verses 7-8 “I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, Because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul, and You have not given me over into the hand of my enemy; You have set my feet in a large place.” Thank you Abba Father for setting my feet in a large spacious place and that I am not trapped or hemmed in!

Verse 2 “O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.” Verse 5 “For His anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” Verses 11-12 “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.”

An example of prayer when one is suffering, but not because of their sin. This Psalm reminded me of Job. “Vindicate me, O LORD...”

Prayer for protection, guidance, and pardon. A Psalm of David. Verse 1-2b “To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust. Do not let me be ashamed.” Verse 16-18 “Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses. Look upon my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins.”

Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty.... The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. This chapter also reminded me of 2 Corinthians 5:21 & Hebrews 10:22.

This Psalm is a prophetic psalm containing the sufferings of Jesus Christ! The very words of our Messiah begin this chapter “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” I also read 1 Peter 1:3-13.

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.... Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”

A Milton of David. “Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” 3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. 4 The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. 5 The LORD is mmy chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. 7 I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy;at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

“‘Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,’ says the LORD; ‘I will place him in the safety for which he longs.’ The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. (The number seven indicates perfection/completeness/wholeness.)
